Work Header

Wishing for that kind of happiness as well

Summary:

“Tiger is a strong animal,” said Kinn.

“Yes. And scary,” said Venice.

“Exactly,” said Kinn and Porsche chuckled.

“Uncle wanna be scary?” asked Venice.

“Yes.”

“No.”

“Why not?” asked Kinn, completely forgetting about his surroundings and Porsche’s smile was getting wider. Ah, he wished Kinn could be carefree like this more often.

“Venice says so,” Venice said and Kinn’s jaw dropped.

[Venice spends a few days with Porsche and Kinn while Vegas and Pete are out of town. When it’s time for Venice to return back home, Kinn realises something… he also wants what Pete and Vegas have with Venice. For the first time… Kinn is jealous of Vegas.]

Work Text:

“So, for the next four days you will be staying with us,” said Porsche and Venice looked over to his uncle Porsche  and then he glanced over to his uncle Kinn, nodding. Yes, he knew that. Dada and papa explained it all to him. Vegas and Pete were travelling and because it was too dangerous for Venice to tag along with them, Venice would be in the care of Kinn and Porsche. Macau was busy with his studies and couldn’t properly look after him, so they came up with this plan.

Venice was excited.

“Yes,” said Venice happily and he clasped his hands together. Vegas and Pete were already on their way, Venice had been dropped off at the main family’s mansion and he was in a perfectly good mood. Yes, it was going to be kind of difficult not to be able to see his parents for that many days, but Venice was sure that he would be able to hold on. He promised to Pete and Vegas that he would be strong.

Besides, hanging out with his uncles was always fun.

“We’re gonna have so much fun,” said Porsche happily and Venice nodded excitedly.

“Yes, yes!” said the boy happily and glanced at Kinn. “What will do for fun?” asked the boy happily. Venice was always looking forward to having fun and as soon as he glanced at Kinn, Kinn’s eyes travelled to Porsche, who smiled and rolled his eyes. Kinn was more than happy to be looking after Venice, but he was still… It was better if Porsche was there with him, yes.

“Kinn?” asked Porsche and Kinn snapped back to reality.

“Didn’t you say we’ll take him to the amusement park?” asked Kinn, whispering and Porsche laughed. Yes, that was supposed to be a plan. The two of them would go out undercover with Venice, just like when they went on their first date, so that they could have a normal experience. However, bodyguards were also coming with the two of them, but they would watch them from afar. Porsche and Kinn wanted to give Venice a somewhat normal experience.

“Yes, that’s it,” said Porsche happily and Venice’s eyes lit up.

“Amuse… amusement park?” asked Venice and his eyes grew in size, almost jumping up and down and Porsche started laughing.

“Mn,” said Porsche happily and placed his hand on top of Venice’s hair and he winked. “Ever been to one?” asked Porsche and Venice shook his head.

“No!” said Venice and he giggled. “Venice is excited! Let’s go? Now?” asked Venice and Porsche chuckled, shaking his head.

“Tomorrow,” said Porsche and Venice pouted.

“Tomorrow is so long away,” whined the boy and Kinn chuckled, shaking his head.

“Tomorrow will be here before you know it,” promised Kinn and Venice narrowed his eyes and studied his uncle’s face.

“So, what do today?” asked Venice and Porsche chuckled, rubbing his palms together.

“We’ll have, don’t worry,” promised Porsche and Venice smiled happily.

Kinn glanced at the clock and then he narrowed his eyes because… Venice was still running around the mansion, his giggles echoing down the hallway and he pursed his lips. By now, Venice should be already down for his afternoon nap. Pete and Vegas gave them a schedule for him and Porsche to follow, but Porsche didn’t really care for it. Kinn, on the other hand, was a little bit more-

“Porsche,” said Kinn, walking down the hallway, going into the room and his eyes widened when he heard something cracking. Falling on a floor with a loud crack. A loud oups could be heard and he rolled his eyes. What did the two of them break now? Porsche and Venice were unstoppable together. “Porsche, you said you would put him down for a nap and-” started Kinn, but then he stepped into the room and he saw one of the antique vases that were in the room on the ground. Broken.

Porsche, who was trying to clean up the mess, froze in place and Venice covered his eyes.

“Uncle, trouble is here,” whispered Venice and Porsche laughed nervously when he turned around.

“Kinn?”

“Who broke the vase?” asked Kinn and before Porsche could be given a moment to defend himself, Venice quickly pointed at him and then he stepped back a little bit. Uncle Kinn was still scary when he was mad, so Venice wasn’t going to risk it.

“Hey, you little-” whined Porsche.

“Venice didn’t do it,” said Venice and Kinn started massaging his temples, but he smiled.

“I know,” said Kinn and Venice pressed his lips together. “Porsche,” said Kinn and Porsche blinked a few times. “He should be napping by now. Why isn’t he?” asked Kinn and Porsche shrugged.

“We were having fun, why would-”

“Vegas and Pete gave us a schedule to follow for a reason,” said Kinn and Porsche groaned.

“You’re no fun,” said Porsche and Kinn’s eyes travelled down to Venice, who didn’t know what to do. Was it something that he did?

“You take care of this mess,” said Kinn and glanced  at the broken pieces of the vase and he shook his head. “I’ll try to put him… down for a nap,” said Kinn and stepped closer to Venice and picked him up. Venice blinked a few times and eventually he smiled when Kinn picked him up.

Venice’s and Kinn’s relationship was still a little bit awkward, but Kinn hoped that that would change in those four days.

“There, I cleaned it all up,” was ranting Porsche as he was walking to the direction of Venice’s room. The room that the boy would be staying in for a few days. Kinn made sure to prepare everything for the boy to be comfortable in the room. He made sure his staff filled it with far too many toys, children’s books and all of that. Porsche found it adorable. Kinn never said anything about being excited that he would be looking after the boy, but his actions spoke louder than words.

Kinn completely transformed the guest room into a room catered only to Venice.

Still, that didn’t change the fact that Porsche was still a little bit annoyed with Kinn. All that Porsche wished was that Kinn would slowly stop worrying so much and just… enjoy the time that they had with Venice. Following the ‘schedule’ was kind of annoying, so Porsche wasn’t really listening to it. But, he understood Kinn.

“Kinn, where are you?” asked Porsche and pressed his lips together.

Porsche had searched every room that he could think of, but he couldn’t find Kinn everywhere. Venice should be napping by then, no? Was Kinn working again? Because Kinn promised that he wouldn’t work for the four days! Porsche pursed his lips as he decided to see if perhaps Kinn was still in the room with Venice.

Porsche slowly opened the door and his eyes widened when he saw that Kinn was indeed in the room. Venice was curled up on one side of the bed, while Kinn was laying on the other side of it. The boy was holding onto Kinn’s finger, happily napping away and when Porsche stepped closer he could tell that Venice wasn’t the only one who was enjoying his nap.

Porsche’s heart swell with happiness and he clutched at his heart, quickly taking out his phone as he decided to take a few photos of Venice and Kinn. They looked adorable like that.

Porsche even decided to send a photo or two to Pete.

There they are. Both down for a nap. 🤣 [3:41 pm]

Porsche smiled when his phone buzzed, slowly sitting down onto the sofa that was in the room, his eyes on Kinn and he sighed happily. Porsche opened up the text from Pete and he chuckled.

Pete

Aw, so cute. ❤️ [3:43 pm]

He’s not giving you too hard of a time, is he? [3:44 pm]

Not at all. But Kinn is making me follow the stupid schedule way too much 😑 [3:45 pm]

Pete

Good. [3:46 pm]

I gave you the schedule for a reason, Porsche. Follow it too! 😒 [3:46 pm]

Yes, sir 🙄 [3:48 pm]

Pete

Porsche! 🤨 [3:48 pm]

Yes, yes, I will follow it more closely from now on. I promise. 🥺 [3:49 pm]

So, can we take him to the amusement park tomorrow? [3:50 pm]

Pete

Of course. [3:51 pm]

Make sure to take many pictures 🥰 [3:52 pm]

Porsche smiled and sighed happily, nodding along and his eyes flickered up again, his heart jumping again at the sight of Kinn and Venice over there. Ah, Kinn was adorable.

“So many people!” exclaimed the boy happily. It was the next day and they finally arrived at the amusement park. Venice was beyond excited, sitting on top of Porsche’s shoulders as he was looking around the place. Kinn glanced around and he nodded  when he saw that his bodyguards were following them and he then smiled again when he glanced at Porsche and Venice.

“Mn, many people,” said Porsche. “Aren’t scared, are you?” teased Porsche and Venice rolled his eyes in a very dramatic manner.

“Venice is brave,” said the boy and Porsche chuckled.

“So, where do you wanna go first?” asked Porsche and Venice’s eyes lit up when his eyes located the ferris wheel.

“Can go there?” asked Venice and pointed to it. Kinn glanced at Porsche and gave him a little nod.

Porsche  grinned and took Kinn’s hand, linking their hands together, tugging on his hand and started guiding him to the line of people that were waiting to get onto the Ferris wheel. Kinn smiled and allowed Porsche to drag him over to it, the boy happily giggling on top of Porsche’s shoulders, holding on tight.

Venice found out that the Ferris wheel was a lot of fun. Both uncle Kinn and uncle Porsche were showing him different buildings in the distance, explaining it to him what they were, Kinn’s smile growing as he was sitting next to the happy boy. By the time that they reached the ground, Kinn finally stopped worrying so much.

Kinn was tense before and Porshce knew it. Kinn kept looking around their perimeter, trying to make sure that the bodyguards were following them. He was stressing himself out, so Porsche was happy to see that Kinn finally decided to let go of the worries and just enjoyed himself properly this time. Because that was also another reason why Porsche dragged KInn over to the amusement park; he wanted Kinn to finally start having fun a little bit.

Venice’s next stop was the Merry-go-round.

“Come on, just hop on. You will sit on the horse and it’ll go around and around,” explained Porsche, but as Venice went closer to it, he quickly took a few steps back and he grabbed onto Kinn’s hand, shaking his head.

“Venice go alone?” asked Venice and glanced up. He was afraid, but he still wanted to go on.

“Mn,” said Kinn. “Porsche and I will be here,” said Kinn and Venice’s eyes filled with fear.

“Venice is scared,” said Venice and squeezed onto Kinn’s hand tighter.

Kinn glanced at Porsche, who gave him a little smile of encouragement and a nod. Kinn picked Venice up and carried him closer to the Merry-go-round and smiled.

“See, nothing scary about this,” said Kinn and gently patted the plastic horse. Venice glanced at it and he smiled, but he still wouldn’t go alone.

“No, no, no, no, Venice is scared. Dada, help,” said Venice, his lower lip shaking and Kinn panicked.

“Porsche, do something,” said Kinn. “He’ll start crying,” said Kinn and Porsche stepped closer and smiled.

“What if Kinn goes with you?” asked Porsche and Venice glanced at his uncle and he clutched onto Kinn’s shirt. “It wouldn’t be scary anymore, would it?”

“N-no.”

“Porsche, I’m not riding that,” said Kinn and Porsche narrowed his eyes.

“Yes, you are.”

“Porsche-”

“Please, uncle?’’ asked Venice and looked up with pleading eyes.

And in the end… Kinn went with Venice onto the Merry-go-round after all.

“Why tiger?” asked Venice and crossed his arms on top of his chest.

“Fine, a wolf then,” said Kinn back and Venice shook his head.

Porsche was looking at the two of them, arguing which kind of a face paint Kinn was getting. Porsche already had his face painted with a pretty floral design that Venice picked out for him. Venice as well. The only problem child of them was Kinn, not wanting to listen to Venice.

“Why make scary?” asked Venice and Kinn pressed his lips together.

Kinn sighed and then he rolled his eyes.

“Just pick whatever you want,’’ said Kinn in the end. Kinn had such a soft spot for Venice  and Porsche knew it.

Since Kinn wanted to look like an animal, that was what Venice decided to go for and in the end he picked out the bunny design. As much as Kinn didn’t want to look like a freaking rabbit, he still went along and sat there as the woman painted his face. But, Venice seemed happy with him and when Kinn was finally done as well, Porsche smiled.

“Come on, let’s take a picture,” said Porsche and Kinn narrowed his eyes.

“With me in the picture as well?” deadpanned Kinn.

“Duh,” said Kinn and in the end asked a young woman who happened to walk past them to take a picture of the three of them. While Venice and Porsche were looking at the photo, Kinn’s eyes travelled to the side and his heart warmed up when he heard the young woman speaking once she returned back to her group of friends.

‘Young dads? Their son is adorable.’

Kinn swallowed thickly and glanced back towards Porsche as a little smile spread across his face and he glanced down, chewing on his lower lip and he huffed. Before Kinn managed to elaborate more on that feeling, his phone buzzed and he took it out of his pocket, narrowing his eyes when he saw Vegas’ name written on the screen.

A text from Vegas.

Vegas

The rabbit look doesn’t suit you at all, cousin dear [2:29 pm]

Kinn blinked a few times, feeling heat rushing to his cheeks and he glanced up. Porsche was on his phone so he-

“Porsche!” roared Kinn.

Porsche started laughing and he quickly took Venice’s hand.

“Venice, we better run now,” said Porsche, his laughter loud, followed by Venice’s giggles as Kinn started running behind the two of them. However, Kinn had a huge smile on his face as well.

Venice shuddered as he snapped up into a sitting position, his head feeling fuzzy and he was shaking. The lights in the room were turned off. The sunshine was peeking from the other side of the curtain, but it was still too dark in the room for his liking. Waking up from an afternoon nap like this was horrible. Venice had a nightmare and now he-

Venice felt out of place. He wasn’t up completely yet, but he remembered that he wasn’t at home yet. Papa and dada were only going to come and pick him up tomorrow and that was what pushed Venice to tears, a little sob escaping past his lips and he pressed his lips together.

He promised to Pete that he wouldn’t cry.

However, Venice was scared. The room suddenly felt far too big for his liking. He didn’t like it there, he didn’t like being alone. Venice was scared and he wanted Vegas or Pete. He wanted to be hugged by his parents, like he was always when he would get a nightmare, but right now they weren’t there and before Venice knew it he burst into tears, sobbing loudly as he hugged the toys on his bed.

As soon as he started crying, the door opened and Kinn came running into the room.

“Venice, what happened?”

“Dada! Papa! Venice want dada and papa,” cried Venice loudly and Kinn pressed his lips together, cursing under his breath. Kinn wasn’t sure if he knew how to-

“Hey, I’m here, it’s okay,’’ said Kinn, turning on the lights in the room and Venice glanced up at him, tears full of eyes, but he stopped crying when he saw a familiar face and he sniffled, hiccuping. “What happened?” asked Kinn and slowly stepped over to the bed, sitting down next to Venice.

“Scary dream,” said Venice, again tearing up.

“Ah,” said Kinn and glanced around the room. “Maybe I should call Porsche to-” started Kinn, but then he stopped talking and he swallowed thickly. No. He could do this too. “It was just a dream,” said Kinn softly and Venice grabbed onto his hand and squeezed himself tightly against Kinn and Kinn slowly hugged the boy as well. “Hey, I can do this too,” said Kinn proudly.

“Scary dream was evil,” hiccuped Venice and Kinn nodded.

“Don’t think about it?”

“Where are dada and papa?” asked Venice, tearing up again. “Wanna see dada and papa.”

“They’re coming back tomorrow.”

“Dada! Papa!” said Venice and burst in tears again.

“Books!” exclaimed Kinn and picked Venice up, carrying him over to the bookcase. Venice was startled, so he stopped crying. “Vegas said you like books, right?” asked Kinn and Venice slowly nodded.

“Yes.”

“Let me read you a story?” asked Kinn. “You will forget all about the dream. And then I will give you ice cream,” said Kinn and Venice’s eyes widened.

“Really?”

“Yes,” said Kinn and sighed when he saw that the boy calmed down. “Which book do you want to read?”

“So many!”

Kinn chuckled. Yep, there were many books!

“Should I pick?” asked Kinn and Venice nodded.

So, Kinn picked the book, carried Venice back to the bed and decided to read him the story. Venice was carefully listening to the story and when Kinn looked up, he smiled when he saw Porsche standing over by the door. When did he get there?

“Ah, you two are reading?” asked Porsche and Venice nodded.

“Mn,” said Kinn. “Why don’t you join us?” asked Kinn and Porsche smiled happily, nodding, and slowly made his way over to the bed. He heard the crying, so he hurried to the room, but it seemed that Kinn had it all covered.

Venice’s smile was widening as Kinn continued to read  the book, Kinn’s smile bright. He got so into the story that he even gave all the characters in the story different sounds, different ways of speaking.

Finding Kinn adorable, Porsche leaned in and pressed a little kiss against his cheek.

Kinn smiled and continued reading the book.

Kinn liked this, he could get used to this.

“Venice, did you have fun?” asked Pete as he picked up Venice and Venice happily nodded. Yes, it was a lot of fun spending time with Porsche and Kinn, but he was even happier than Vegas and Pete were finally back! “Ah, I missed you,” said Pete and Venice nodded.

“Venice missed papa and dada too,” said Venice and Vegas smiled, leaning closer and Vegas placed a kiss on top of Venice’s head. It was so good to be back home.

Vegas glanced at Kinn and Porsche and he hummed along. He had to give it to them - they did a good job. Venice seemed happy and he sighed in relief. Vegas was a little bit sceptical, but he was glad that it all turned out good and he smiled again when Venice started rambling about his adventures that took place in the span of four days.

Vegas chuckled, his smile bright and Kinn pressed his lips as he watched his cousin.

Kinn was feeling… Kinn didn’t know how to explain this kind of feeling, but it made him feel uneasy. The little family that Vegas had was… adorable. He and Pete made it work despite everything, took the boy into their lives, raising him as their son. Venice was amazing, they were both doing an amazing job as his parents.

Vegas was happy, Kinn could tell it. Being a parent changed Vegas for the better. He was more patient, kinder. Being a parent and having Pete around to keep him in place; it changed him. Kinn was happy for Vegas and while these four days were pure bliss to Kinn, he couldn’t deny the feeling of emptiness in his heart now that Venice would be going back home.

Kinn realised that he wanted this as well.

What Vegas had.

Kinn’s eyes widened when he realised what was going on. He was jealous of Vegas. For the first time ever Kinn was jealous of Vegas and he swallowed thickly, glancing down and he gritted his teeth.

“Dada, we go home now?” asked Venice, now that he was in Vegas’ arms and Vegas slowly nodded.

“Yes,” said Vegas and chuckled when he saw how happy Venice looked. “Have to hand it to you,” said Vegas, now speaking to Kinn. “You did a good job,” said Vegas and Kinn smiled.

“Ah, yes… it was nothing. If you ever want to leave him with us again, you can,” said Kinn quickly and Pete smiled.

“Mn,” said Pete and nodded. Pete could tell how much Kinn actually enjoyed this; Porsche told him and showed him all via the texts. “Would be fun, right, Venice?” asked Pete and Venice nodded.

“Yes. Venice had fun!”

“Again, thank you for looking after him,” said Pete and Porsche nodded, smiling.

So, as Kinn watched Pete, Vegas and Venice slowly going into their car and eventually driving away, he sighed and he pressed his lips together. He didn’t know how he felt about being the jealous one. But-

“I want what they have too,” said Kinn, words escaping past his lips and Porsche glanced at him.

“What?”

“A family.”

Porsche blinked a few times and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

“Should we get a kid too?” asked Porsche as a joke, but what he wasn’t expecting was the puppy-eyed look that he got from Kinn. “Kinn? I was joking, you-”

“Why not?” said Kinn quickly, getting way too ahead of himself and he knew it. He was too caught up in the moment, but it wasn’t that bad of a thought to have, was it?

Porsche sighed and pressed his lips. He knew Kinn was caught up in the moment, but he didn’t hate the idea. It was a nice idea to have. For the future. They would eventually have a serious talk about it, but for now… Kinn couldn’t wait for the next time that Venice would come over.
