New meetings, new chances

Summary:

“Look what he’s doing!”

“They’re kissing, Vegas,” said Pete and shook his head. “He seems like a good kid. I think you’ve tortured him before enough, don’t you think?”

“I was only getting started,” said Vegas.

“Vegas, where are you going?”

“To stop them, they’re gonna eat each other’s faces if I don’t do something,” grumbled Vegas and marched outside and Pete sighed, glancing at Venice, who looked afraid. He didn’t want Macau’s face to get eaten!

[There’s a new guy at Macau’s school… and he happens to be Macau's type.]

Notes:

Finally finding a bf for Macau as well ^^

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Macau puffed his cheeks as he was putting his textbooks into his bag. It was another boring day in the school and he couldn’t wait to be back home. To say that he had a lot of work was an understatement. All of the professors seemed to have some kind of a personal vendetta against Macau, determined to completely destroy his social life. It sucked, but… Macau sighed. It was going to be fine. Soon, it was going to be the weekend and Macau had only one thing in his plans for the weekend - slacking off.

That was why Macau was in a hurry to leave the school and return back home. Macau was tired and he sighed as he walked away, said his goodbyes to his friends and he pressed his lips together. It didn’t take too long before he heard someone calling out to him and he rolled his eyes. Thinking that it  was one of his friends, Macau slowly turned around and rolled his eyes.

“Dude, I told you, I can’t hang out. I have shit ton of work to do and-” started ranting Macau, but as soon as he saw that it wasn’t one of his friends that approached him, his voice trailed off. The rest of the words got stuck at the back of his throat and Macau blinked a few times when he saw the guy that approached him.

Who was that?

Macau hadn’t seen him before. Macau would remember seeing someone like that in their school. Perhaps he didn’t go to their school? But, he was wearing their uniform. Macau blinked a few times as he continued staring. Yes, Macau was gawking and staring at the guy standing in front of him.

He was a little bit taller than Macau. He had his long hair tied up into a bun, some of the front pieces of his hair messily falling over his eyes. Ah, no, it wasn’t messily - it was just right. He had his ears full of piercings. He was also wearing a lip piercing and Macau gulped because – the  guy was just his type. Who was he? Macau needed to know… right there and then.

“You’ve dropped this,” said the other one and Macau glanced down and then back up.

“Huh?”

“Your book, it fell out of your bag,” said the other one and Macau’s eyes flickered down and then up again. Oh, right, that was his book right there. So, the guy decided to pick it up and give it back to him. So, not only hot, but he was also kind.

Macau knew nothing about the guy, but he was already making up his own assumptions about him. It was stupid, so… so stupid, but he couldn’t help it.

The other one arched his brow and then he glanced down at the book. He didn’t get what was happening as the other one  was just staring at him, blankly and he blinked a few times before he spoke up again. Macau was completely quiet.

“Macau, right?” he asked, trying again, waving the book in front of Macau’s eyes.

“Who?”

“Your name, no?” asked the guy and started laughing when Macau finally snapped out of it.

Macau wanted to disappear. He had just made the biggest ass out of himself in front of the guy and he wanted to run away and never appear in school again. Macau pressed his lips together as he finally remembered how talking worked and he laughed nervously.

“Ah, um, yes, thank you,” stammered Macau and the other one smiled.

“Okay, good,” he said and then he glanced around. “I’m new, so I’m still… trying to fit in,” said the other one and Macau’s eyes widened. Oh, so he was going to their school. Macau clumsily tucked the book into his bag and closed it up again, clasping his hands together. “Um, I’m Leo,” quickly said the other one and Macau smiled back.

Oh, even his name was Macau’s type.

“Macau,” said Macau and pointed to himself, but then he realised that Leo already knew that and he wanted to slap himself across the face. “Oh, well, I guess you already know that,” said Macau and started laughing awkwardly.

He felt like the biggest idiot on the planet.

“Yeah,” said Leo with a smile.

What a gorgeous smile…

Now what? Macau didn’t know what to do with himself. He wasn’t really used to being in the company of such good looking people. When Macau said good-looking, he meant it – the guy looked like he stepped right out of some fictional novel. Macau wasn’t really the type to be speechless, it was hard to get him to be so quiet, but right now Macau-

“Well, um, I guess I’ll see you around?” asked Leo when he saw that there was silence between the two of them again.

“S-say,” said Macau quickly and Leo looked at him. “You said you’re new, right?” asked Macau hesitantly.

“Yep.”

“Well, if you ever want someone to show you around the place or hang out… I can-” said Macau, but then he felt his tongue getting all tied up and he shook his head. “Nevermind, forget it,”  said Macau, again making an ass out of himself and he was in a hurry to get away, but Leo hurried after him again and Macau pressed his lips together.

Ugh, now what?!

“I’d like to hang out, yes,” said Leo quickly and Macau turned around.

“You would?” asked Macau.

“Yeah,” said Leo. “Like I said, I’m new. I don’t know many people,” said Leo.

Macau blinked a few times and he leaned against the wall, trying to pretend that he was smug, but he knew just how painfully awkward he was.

Still, for some reason that was unknown to Macau, Leo was more than willing to give Macau his Line.

Macau was more than happy when he found out that he and Leo were taking a lot of the same classes. Not all of them, but it was enough for Macau to get excited about actually going to school. But, what was the best news, was that the professor assigned the two of them to work on a project together.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Macau and Leo met and… they’ve been getting along pretty well. Macau found out that he and Leo had a lot in common. Leo was chill and even though one might think that he looked cold on the outside, Macau found out pretty early on that Leo was a soft-hearted dork once he let people close.

Just judging from their chat alone – Leo would always use a lot of emoticons and stickers when the two of them would talk. Macau found him adorable. Macau found him hot. Macau found him…

… ugh, his crush on the guy was growing and there was nothing that he could do to stop it! It’s been a couple of months since the whole fiasco with the guy that asked him out happened and Macua was still trying to keep his guard up. But it was kind of hard. Leo was sweet and kind. It was just hard not to fall for him when he didn’t only have the looks, but he was also incredibly kind.

Macau huffed and Leo glanced over to him.

Macau and Leo were in the school library, trying to get some work done finally, but all that Macau could focus on was Leo. Like, Macau didn’t want to tell Leo how he felt, but he also didn’t want to get stuck in a friendzone.

Was Leo even into guys?

Macau sighed and then he pressed his lips together.

“Something wrong?” asked Leo and leaned closer to Macau, leaning over him as he wanted to see what seemed to be the problem. Macau was supposed to be reading a book, but it was awfully hard to do that.

“Nope, I’m fine,” said Macau.

“You’ve been on the same page for the last ten minutes,” said Leo and laughed. “Should we take a break? We’ve been going at it for the last two hours,” said Leo and Macau felt his throat going dry.

Going at it… oh what Macau wouldn’t do-

“No, no, I’m fine,” said Macau.

Leo shrugged and then he nodded.

“Your face seems kind of red,’’ commented Leo and Macau glanced at him and then backed down.

“Ah, it’s a bit hot in there,” said Macau.

“Is it?” asked Leo as a little smirk spread across his lips. Macau narrowed his eyes and then he glanced down. What was that smirk all about?

“Yes?”

Leo didn’t make a comment, but he went back to typing on his laptop and Macau swallowed thickly. Right, he needed to work as well. That was when he leaned back down and started reading the book, actually concentrating that time.

As he was writing down the keypoints, he didn’t see how Leo was now watching him with the corner of his eye, his smile slowly growing and he sighed. Leaning closer, Leo gently brushed his fingers against Macau’s hair. Macau dropped his pen and glanced at Leo, who had a smile of amusement on his lips.

“There was some dust on your hair,” said Leo and Macau quickly leaned down to pick up his pen. Leo did the same, their fingers brushing against each other when they reached for the pen at the same time. Macau’s eyes widened  and he quickly lifted himself up. As he did that, he ended up banging his head against the underside of the table and he let out a loud hiss.

“Fuck-” gasped Macau, now massaging his aching head and Leo leaned closer.

“Shit, sorry, that was my fault,” said Leo.

“How was it your fault?” asked Macau.

“Well, I-” started Leo and then gently touched Macau’s head. “Does it hurt a lot?” he asked.

“I’ll live,” said Macau and Leo sighed in relief.

Silence fell between the two of them when they realised what was happening. Leo leaned over to Macau, his fingers gently touching Macau’s head. As soon as Leo was aware of what he was doing, he quickly withdrew his hand and cleared his throat.

“Sorry.”

“It’s, um, it’s fine,” said Macau and Leo pointed at the laptop.

“I’ll just-”

“Yeah and I’ll continue reading,” whispered Macau, his heart pounding against his ribcage and he pressed his lips together, but he couldn’t focus at all.

What was with all these mixed signals he was getting from Leo?!

**

“Yeah, but does that mean he likes me or not?” asked Macau and glanced at Porchay, who shrugged.

“Ask him?”

“Yeah, thanks, man, you’re no help.”

“What?” asked Porchay and shrugged. “It’s not that hard.”

“Yes it is,’’ said Macau and groaned. The last experience… made him not want to confess how he felt. Truly, perhaps it had more of an effect on him than he would have wanted to confess. He just didn’t want to be made fun of again and while he knew that Leo wasn’t like the last guy, he was still having some trust issues.

Also all the mixed signals… he wasn’t sure what to think of it anymore. Sometimes he thought he had it all figured out, but then-

“Not all guys are like that idiot,” said Porchay and Macau huffed.

“I know.”

“How long have you known him for now?”

“A month, a bit less,” said Macau and then he closed his eyes. “I’ll try telling him, eventually,” said Macau. “Because I really do like him,” said Macau and smiled softly.

“You should,” said Porchay and winked.

“Oh, and Chay?”

“Mn?”

“Not a word of this to Kim, yeah?” asked Macau and rolled his eyes. “Because he will end up telling Vegas, I’m pretty sure,” grumbled Macau. After what happened the last time, Vegas told Kim to come to him immediately if he happened to hear something. Plus, Macau was pretty sure that Vegas was going to start digging into Leo’s background and Macau didn’t want that.

“My lips are sealed,” said Porchay happily.

“Good.”

Macau was looking down, biting on his lip and trying not to make himself visible. He, Pete and Vegas were out with Venice. More specifically, the four of them were out in a restaurant. It’s been a while since the four of them went out like this and it  was good for a change. Macau himself liked going out on dinners like that… usually. Not now, though. Not when in the same restaurant there  was Leo as well.

Leo was sitting just a few tables to the right and Macau was trying his best to not be seen. Not because he didn’t want to spend time with Leo. It was nothing like that, he just didn’t want Vegas to see Leo because he knew what was going to happen. Vegas questioning Leo, asking him far too many questions… probably driving him away for good with his demeanour. Just for once… Macau wanted-

Macau’s eyes flickered over to the side and he pressed his lips together. What was Leo doing there? He was completely alone. Was that supposed to happen or did he get stood up? Macau gulped.

What if Leo was meeting someone there? A date?

Macau’s heart sank and he shook his head.

Leo would have told him, the two of them were close. Macau was biting on his lower lip nervously as he was trying to eat, but he couldn’t. All that he could think about was Leo, trying not to be seen and his appetite was long gone. Macau quickly glanced back and smiled when he saw Venice looking at him.

“Macau is not hungry?” asked the boy and Macau smiled.

“I am, I am,” said Macau and Vegas narrowed his eyes.

“You’ve been acting weird ever since we came here,” said Vegas and he narrowed his eyes.

“And you keep looking at that guy over there,” said Pete and Macau choked on the water that he wanted to drink.

“What?!” asked Macau. “No I’m not!”

Did Macau really think he would get that past Pete? He used to be the head bodyguard, so of course he noticed! Macau gritted his teeth and he laughed.

“Yeah, I’ve noticed that too,” said Vegas and he pursed his lips together. “Who’s that? Spill.”

“No one,” said Macau quickly.

“You’re lying.”

“Has someone again been bothering you in school?” asked Pete and Macau rolled his eyes. While he knew they were only trying to be protective of him, Macau didn’t need that. Not right then.

“No,” said Macau.

“Macau,” said Pete.

“It’s true. That’s… that’s just someone I have classes with, okay?” asked Macau and then he shook his head. “Can we just… not pay attention to him and eat instead?” asked Macau and held back his breath.

That only raised more suspicions with Vegas.

“What did he do?” asked Vegas. “Tell me, I’ll go sort it out right now.”

“Ugh,” whined Macau and hid his face into his palms.

“Is he evil friend?” asked Venice and Macau shook his head.

“No, he’s a nice friend,”  said Macau quickly.

“Ah, so he is your friend? ” asked Vegas and Macau glared at him.

Again, Vegas was only being protective of his little brother. After the last idiot that broke Macau’s heart… Vegas wasn’t backing down so easily and he was going to protect him no matter what. He made a mistake before, but he wasn’t going to do that again.

“Yes,” hissed Macau.

“Oh, friend is waving,” said Venice happily and waved back to the friend. Macau’s jaw dropped and he quickly turned over to Leo, who had a little smile on his face.

“Crap, he noticed me,” said Macau, but still forced on a little smile and he waved back at him.

“Friend is nice?”

“Yes,” said Macau again.

“Why is friend alone?” asked Venice.

“I don’t know.”

“Alone is lonely,” said Venice.

“I guess,” said Macau.

“Friend join here, sit here,” said Venice happily and pointed to the empty chair next to Macau.

“I’m pretty sure he’s waiting for someone,” said Macau.

But, after ten more minutes, the said friend was still alone and Venice decided that the friend looked too lonely.

“Venice will bring friend here,” said Venice and Macau shook his head.

“Please don’t.”

“Venice, I think Macau’s right,” said Pete. “He’s waiting for someone.”

“Is been a long time,” said Venice.

Vegas pursed his lips.

“Bring him here, Venice, I will have a little talk with him,” said Vegas, who was misunderstanding the whole thing.

“Venice will go ask,” said Venice and quickly hopped onto the floor and ran over to Leo. Macau leaned over the table and wished he could teleport out of the restaurant at that very second. The whole thing was a mess and before Macau knew it, Venice came running back, giggling and Leo was following him behind. Macau felt blood rushing to his cheeks and he cursed.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck-

“Leo, hi,” said Macau and put on a smile.

Leo, who was a little bit confused, smiled and greeted the people sitting next to Macau politely. Pete pressed his lips together and he was slowly starting to get the whole picture - to why Macau was trying not to be seen by the other one. Vegas, on the other hand, was still misunderstanding the whole thing and Venice was happily smiling.

“Ah, um, hi,” said Leo awkwardly.

“Sit, sit,’’ said Venice and then he glanced at Vegas. “Dada, no worry. Venice made sure, it’s not evil friend, Venice asked,” said Venice and Pete chuckled. Macau was sweating as he glanced at Leo, who was still standing there awkwardly.

Leo was confused - why was this little boy asking him if he was evil?

“Yeah, I’m not, I promise,” said Leo and smiled.

“That’s what they all say,” said Vegas and Leo glanced at Macau.

“Meet my older brother and his boyfriend,” deadpanned Macau and then eyed Venice. “That’s my little brother,” said Macau with a little smile, trying to calm down his racing heart. “Venice saw you were sitting there alone and felt bad for you. That’s why he wants to ask you if you want to join us by our table,” said Macau and shuddered. “You don’t have to,” said Macau and Leo’s smile first got wider, but it soon disappeared.

“I can’t?”

“You want to?” asked Macau, surprised.

“Sure,” said Leo. “The people I was supposed to be meeting with ditched me,” said Leo and shrugged. “So, I wouldn’t mind,” said Leo.

Well, fuck, Leo actually wanted to-

“Um, well, sit down next,’’ said Macau and Leo grinned all the way up to his ears.

Fuck.

That smile again.

It did things to Macau’s heart that he couldn’t explain with words!

“Well, your family seems,” started Leo and Macau groaned, rolling his eyes. “Nice,” he said in the end and Macau eyed him, shaking his head.

The whole dinner was… a disaster. Vegas kept grilling Leo with all sorts of questions, trying to scare him off. It was just… Macau was pretty sure that Leo was never going to want to speak again to him. Which was a shame because Macau really liked him, but well. Vegas and Pete could soon see what was going on. It became pretty obvious to Vegas as well that Macau was crushing on this guy.

It wasn’t quite the shovel talk (yet), but they made it obvious that they were not to be messed with.

“I will completely understand if you never want to talk to me again,” groaned Macau and huffed.

The two of them were standing outside of the restaurant and Macau was pretty sure that Vegas and Pete were watching the two of them. Leo was getting ready to go home and Macau decided to walk him out so that the two of them could have a proper talk.

“What?” asked Leo and laughed. “Why wouldn’t I want to?”

“Because of my big bro and Pete,’’ said Macau and rolled his eyes. “They’re way too overprotective.”

“I’ve heard the stories,” said Leo in amusement and Macau glanced at him.

“You have?”

“Yeah, they’re quite popular around school,” said Leo, laughing.

“Ah, so you’ve heard,” deadpanned Macau.

Ever since Vegas and Pete decided to have that talk with Mat, people have been talking a lot, yes. Some of the students were even afraid to approach Macau after that. Macau was happy that he had protective people around him, but-

“Mn. How they dealt with the idiot that asked you out?” asked Leo and Macau glanced down. “Perfect.”

Macau laughed and stopped in front of Leo.

“Yeah?”

“Yep,” said Leo and smiled down at him. “Deserved what came his way for hurting you,” said Leo and Macau felt his heartbeat fastening and he shrugged. “And what an idiot for not knowing what he had in front of him,” finally slipped out of Leo’s mouth.

Macau’s eyes widened and he glanced up.

Again, the mixed signals. Did he mean that as a friend or more?

Macau should have just asked him, it shouldn’t be so difficult. Trying to listen to Porchay’s advice, Macau took a deep breath. However, he chickened out at the last moment. Instead, he tapped Leo’s shoulder and smiled.

“You’re a good friend, Leo, not many people would-”

“What if I don’t want to be your friend anymore?” asked Leo and he closed his eyes when he realised how that sounded. What he wanted to say was the complete opposite, it was...

Macau’s heart fell again and he smiled bitterly.

“Ah, so after all, Vegas scared you off. You know, I don’t blame-” started Macau, but that was when he felt Leo’s hand going behind his neck, pulling him closer. Words caught in the back of his throat, Macau stood there and he gasped when Leo leaned in all the way, closing up the remaining distance between the two of them and kissed him.

Barely a kiss, a simple touch of their lips.

Leo quickly pulled back and glanced down.

Macau’s brain was trying to process what had just happened.

Leo kissed him.

Holy fucking shit, Leo kissed him!

“I like you,” finally breathed out Leo when he couldn’t hold it in anymore and Macau’s eyes travelled up again. “More than a friend,” he said. “Do you know what I mean?”

“Yes.”

“Okay,” said Leo, nervously running his fingers through his hair. “And… what do you think?” asked Leo. “Sorry for kissing you out of the blue. You looked very cute. Not that that was an excuse. It wasn’t. But just, I really like you, you see and-” started rambling Leo, Macau’s smile getting wider and he shook his head.

Just like Leo quieted him down with the kiss before, Macau leaned up and captured Leo’s lips with his own. Leo smiled into their kiss when he felt Macau whispering, telling him that he felt the same. Wrapping his arms around Macau’s waist, Leo pulled him closer as the two of them kissed again.

“Dada,” said Venice and pointed through the window.

Vegas looked up and his jaw dropped when he saw that Leo guy kissing his brother.

“So much for them being only friends,” said Pete and snorted, rolling his eyes when he saw Vegas standing up and getting ready to go out. Pete grabbed his sleeve and made him sit down again, shaking his head. “No.”

“Look what he’s doing!”

“They’re kissing, Vegas,” said Pete and shook his head. “He seems like a good kid. I think you’ve tortured him before enough, don’t you think?”

“I was only getting started,” said Vegas. He didn’t like this Leo kid. He didn’t like that Leo didn’t seem afraid of him. Vegas kept his eyes on Macau and the guy outside, slowly calming down, but as the kissing continued, he decided that he needed to go out and break those two apart.

“Vegas, where are you going?”

“To stop them, they’re gonna eat each other’s faces if I don’t do something,” grumbled Vegas and marched outside and Pete sighed, glancing at Venice, who looked afraid. He didn’t want Macau’s face to get  eaten!

“Eat faces?” asked Venice and hid his face into his palms.

Pete sighed and laughed when he glanced outside. Vegas was now standing between Leo and Macau. Macau was walking back to Vegas, who was trying to scare Leo off and all that Leo could do was laugh.

Macau’s family was… interesting. He couldn't wait to learn more about Macau.
