Yeah, I Know

Summary:

Minho has a problem with his baby.

Chan is absolutely no help, in fact, he seems to even enjoy his husband's dilemma.

Notes:

Chan is referred to as "Mother" because if anyone knows me anything about me, my only personality trait is 'mommy Chan'

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“He really looks so much like Chan”

“….”

“Like, exactly like Chan, literal carbon copy”

“I’m aware”

“…Are you sure he’s yours?”

Minho simply blinks at his best friend, Jisung, with a deadpan expression.

“Yeah I‘m pretty sure my son with my husband is mine”

“Hey hey I wasn’t accusing Chan of cheating. I’m just saying…shouldn’t your baby have like…some features of you too?”

“Jisung-“

“I’m just saying, how does a kid look like exactly one parent and only that parent.”

“Yes Jisung, Channie had sex with himself and now has a baby that only looks like him. We’ve been over this, he forgot to invite me for our months of planning involving having a baby” Minho finalized with sarcasm being the main point of argument.

Which was only half the truth, with Chan, nothing is ever without a plan. When they finally decided to have a baby Chan had been adamant about first planning every step of the way before actually…you know doing the deed. He had looked at gynecologists, baby supplies, and vitamins needed for both parents to create the best environment for the coming nine months. Minho actually wondered if his Chan would lose his mind one day if he did get pregnant accidentally. Accidentally being the keyword.

The half lie part is the part where he said Chan forgot to invite him to the process of actually making the baby. Probably…he’s not too sure.

“Don’t need to get sassy with me. I’m glad he only looks like Chan, imagine having to look at another you” which resulted in Jisung getting smacked with a couch cushion.

The thing is, Minho and Chan had been married for two years before they decided to have a baby. It was a lot of planning, mainly Chan, and a lot of worrying, mainly Minho over his pregnant husband. It was a tedious 9 months and plus 6 give or take of taking care of a heavily pregnant Chan, Who. Just. Wouldn’t. Stop. Moving. Trying to keep Chan still is the equivalent of trying to teach a kid why dolphins are terrible terrible animals. Easy if you’re desensitized to all forms of puppy eyes, hard to do if a pout and huff is your breaking point.

And not forgetting the following 6 months after birth where they had to wrangle an infant around with Chan nursing their baby and going back to work and trying to get a baby to let go of their hair and not choke on random change around the house. Minho never realized how much money they had until their baby was around.

It was honestly fine. Chan was the best mother anyone could ask for and Minho thoroughly enjoyed his morning deep conversations with their toddler. Note: his baby babbled and Minho pretended like he was discussing the economy with young Lee.

‘Would it kill you to admit that you’re a good dad?’ Chan had exasperated one time.

‘Yes,’ Minho answered.

It was honestly fine. So fine. In fact, it could not possibly be any finer. Until everyone and their grandmother started to notice that their baby looked a lot like Chan. Only like Chan.

To the point where Minho was considering making a guest list for everyone who had ever mentioned his baby’s facial structure to him, invite them all and tell them “Yeah, I know”

So now whenever brought up the fact that his child didn’t look anything like him. He creates every possible bizarre situation to fuck with them.

Stories like “The damn stork fucked up” to more realistic ones like “He’s an IVF baby, they took the wrong egg and the wrong sperm.” And his personal favorite “Chan didn’t invite me”

For instance, this point in time. Celebrating their baby’s first year on earth. They invited a few of their friends along with Chan’s and Minho’s families.

And of course, Minho can’t catch a break because Chan’s aunties were very much adamant about pointing out how cute the baby was, and how well-behaved he is. And of course how much he only looks like his husband.

“You see Aunty, it’s really a miracle. Everyone asks me why our baby only looks like Chan. I have a theory; Chan simply forgot to invite me and had a baby on his own- now I know what you’re thinking-“

“What’s he doing?” Hyunjin sidled up to Chan side-eyeing Minho who was still lecturing the poor old lady.

“Trying to convince people that his son is probably not his”

“What?!”

“Not like that” The brunette laughed “ He’s trying to tell people that our baby only looks like me because I apparently forgot to involve him in the baby-making process.”

“Your family is weird Chan Hyung”

“Eh, let him have his fun. He barely talks to my family because of how awkward he can get. I’m glad he has a topic to go off on” Chan fixed Minho with a fond gaze before turning back to Hyunjin.

“I’m surprised you never asked him about the whole carbon copy thing”

“That’s cus I prefer my life on land to life inside the air fryer or any other household appliance for that matter”

Later the same night while the couple shared a slow kiss after a tiring evening, laying on their sides Minho pulled back to look at his husband. His button-like eyes were half-lidded with exhaustion and encroaching sleep, plump lips plumper as a result of the kiss. He reached a hand over to smooth a butter curl behind his ear.

A soft giggle left those plump lips.

“What are you thinking about?” Chan whispered under his breath as if to not disturb the calm of the night.

“Should we try for another one?”

“Hm?”

“Another baby”

A lot loud groan resounded as his husband turned on his back away from him. “The mood Minho, the mood! Couldn’t have found a better timing?”

“What? I thought it was sexy enough timing!”

“Not when I know exactly why you want another baby” Chan fixed him a deadpan side glance. Woes of being married to a person who reads you like a 260-word book blurb.

“C’mon, please. I just want to see if we can have a baby that looks like me too.” Oh great, he’s pouting now.

“...I’ll think about it” A sigh escaped Chan.

“You’re the best” Minho grinned while leaning forward to kiss Chan’s reddening ear, to which he earned himself a squeak and a snort.

Success.

~ 14 months later~

“Are you happy now?” Chan smirked at his husband who’s frowning at his second child cradled in his mother’s arms.

“Why would he say that? Now I can’t unsee it”

“Well you’re the one who wanted a baby that looked like you”

“Yeah, not only like me”

Jisung had no right to waltz into their home with gifts, take one glance at their 5-month-old and say “Hey! This one only looks like Minho Hyung!” Minho felt the color drain from his face while his husband cackled in the background.

“How do I even make a story to this?! He only looks like me! And I didn’t even carry him!”

“I’ll leave the creatives up to you baby. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the challenge.” Chan snorted.

“…”

“Wanna try again?”

“Minho shut the fuck up”
