Bandana Waddle Dee wakes up, stretching their nubs as they observe their surroundings. The Great King is still asleep, snoring so loudly that Bandana Dee wonders how he and everyone else managed to sleep very soundly. Meta Knight is in the corner, watching his surroundings like a predator hawk, his Galaxia in hand in case of any intruders of their location. The Dee bets that he spends his nights falling asleep, but continuing his night watch. He often wonders how the blue puffball never gets tired, they couldn’t imagine anybody managing to go through it.
And then there’s Kirby, where in front of them is a stirring pot with a handle held by a branch being held by two branches as the pot is being cooked by a campfire. The pink hero is humming happily, continuing to stir the pot as the woods start to be scorched over the continuous use of the fire.
Bandana Dee could only feel relief, over the fact that his closest friend is the one who handles all of their duties. Being an experienced traveler who often has to fend for themselves, Kirby has mastered the skills that are essential to their travels, even despite their young age. Cooking, camping, scouting, and whatnot. Thus, they are given the duties to create their makeshift beds and cook.
Going closer as they stare at what Kirby is cooking, they could see what looks like an orange soup filled with meat, carrots, and potatoes. The aroma coming from the steam smells absolutely good and watching the way his friend is spinning the stirring spoon is so mesmerizing.
“Hi Bandana Dee,” the hero greets their friend, smiling with such pureness aided by glistening eyes. “The food will all be ready in just a minute now.”
The right-hand man is honestly excited about it. Kirby is such a great cook, it’s honestly unbelievable how tasty their dishes are. Considering that Kirby has a huge appetite and sometimes has to fend for themselves while traveling and saving the world, they should have improved their skills a long time ago and that’s without having to use the Cook ability.
It’s been fun, but also tiring having to traverse through Cookie Country to find the missing parts of Magolor’s ship. This is his first adventure with Kirby since the fiasco with the Crystal Shards, so it’s easy for him to need a bit of rest. Nevertheless, since that journey, they have been training hard in case Pop Star needs some massive weight lift and they’re trying their best. He has occasionally trained with Kirby, the Great King, and even Meta Knight at times with the use of the spear and he could say that he’s getting good at it. They are happy with the much-needed support they get from all of their friends and it makes them teared up that they’ve been delegated to being promoted as the Great King’s assistant. He has come so far and he’ll do his best to keep up that good work.
They could see the pleasing sounds of the stirring stop as Kirby starts banging the pot, indicating that breakfast is ready. The Great King has awakened, beaming upon seeing the delicacy awaiting to be eaten. Meta Knight descends from his spot and wraps his cape around his body, glancing over at the pot.
“Hey everyone! Food is ready!” Kirby chirps, grinning at the commotion they had caused. Dedede is practically drooling, Bandana Dee’s face screams one out of excitement, and even Meta Knight’s eyes have a hint of interest in them. “It’s time to eat!”
They hand their friends bowls and spoons made out of coconut shells as they use the stirring spoon to serve them the meal. As their friends start eating, they can see that the meal is a success as Dedede and Bandana Dee’s eyes sparkle while Meta Knight looks pleased.
“This is really good!” Says Dedede as he proceeds to spend all of his meal, even sipping the very last drops.
“Great King is right, you outdid yourself with this, Kirby!” Bandana Dee pipes in. “Whenever you cook for all of us, it always turns out to be good.”
“Thanks, guys,” The pink puffball smiles. “I wasn’t even sure of how it’ll turn out since ingredients are rather limited, so I apologize if I couldn’t give you all more options.”
“No, this is all great!” The waddle dee tells them. “The taste is delicious and the meat isn’t that chewy. You did a good job well, Kirby!”
The pink puffball is practically beaming with all the praises they’re receiving and honestly, they’re extremely adorable when that happens.
They all turned to the blue puffball, his face now half-covered and still chewing onto food, now staring at them with clear confusion in his eyes.
“Is there anything you’d like me to say?” He asks.
“Come on, we just want to know what you think the food tastes like!” Dedede asks him.
The warrior faces his bowl once more as he goes back at staring towards his team. “...It’s one of the best food I’ve ever eaten, I’ll admit.”
Kirby looks even more delighted, clapping their nubs together and his eyes filled with such stars. “Oh! I can’t believe that Meta actually likes it!”
“I never thought you actually knew how to cook.”
“Well, I have to learn eventually since it’s not like I have the Cook Ability with me at all times,” the pink puffball answers. “It took me a long time to be good at it, but by that time, so many years have passed that many of the food I did become instinct to me.”
“Well, we should eat more of it before it gets really cold,” Bandana Dee pulls out another set into their bowl as Dedede joins along. Kirby giggles, happy to see their friends having a good time while Meta Knight watches, seemingly his appetite now satisfied as he watches everyone else finishing every inch of the meal left.
Fixing the Lor Starcutter may be of utmost importance, but that doesn’t mean they can have some fun every once in a while
