Work Text:
Izuku’s practically vibrating as he’s tucked under his sheets, listening and waiting for Kacchan to head back to his own room for the night. Of course his roommate decides to stay up longer than usual tonight of all nights.
The night Izuku has a–could this be called a date? Prin–Shouto did ask him to come today and said they should have tea together, just the two of them this time. All alone. Together. At a specific time and place.
Oh gosh it is a date isn’t it? A real one this time.
Is it okay that he’s taking cake instead of flowers?? Should he have gotten flowers along with the cake? What flowers would he like? Does Shouto even like flowers? Oh dear god.
Get it together, Izuku.
The door across the apartment finally shuts and Izuku peeks at the crack under his own door to make sure that all the lights have been turned off. It’s dark, which means Kacchan did turn in for the night at long last.
Izuku hops off his bed, giddy with excitement and anticipation. He quickly strips out of the pajamas he’d put on to make sure Kacchan didn’t suspect anything and grabs the pants he’d placed on his desk chair. He throws on the good sweater he bought with his mom just last weekend: an off-white pullover made of soft cashmere. He knows Shouto will like this, even if it’s not really his style.
He puts on his fuzzy socks and his boots, and fingers through his messy curls before shoving on his gloves. He shrugs on a jacket just in case, grabs the paper bag with the mini strawberry crème cake, and finally, finally steps to his closet.
Izuku takes a deep breath, lips already quirking up into a grin as he pulls open the closet door and steps inside the dark space.
He instantly finds himself thinking of the first time he did this, almost six months ago now when he and Kacchan had moved in here when they started university together.
When they’d done their walk-through before signing their lease, the closet wasn’t something he’d given much thought to. He’d been perplexed by its odd shape–narrow but unusually deep with way too much hanging space–but it wasn’t really an issue so they’d gone on with renting the place.
It wasn’t after they’d moved in that he noticed the layer of thick fur coats hanging at the very back of it which he’d assumed was accidentally left behind by the previous tenant but after falling through them he now knows better.
He still gets embarrassed when he thinks about that first time when he’d leaned too far forward with his hand stretched out, expecting a wall but had fallen face first onto snowy ground.
He pushes the coats aside like he’s done over a dozen times at this point, stepping deftly onto the changed terrain. He turns back to see that the coats have now turned to look like pine branches, blending in with the rest of the serene forest he’s now standing in the middle of.
Izuku looks up through the canopy; it’s still light here. Late afternoon if he’d have to guess. Perfect.
He looks around and sees a faint glow past a line of trees due West and heads in that direction.
He tries his best not to get spooked by every twig that snaps, every rustle of the branches as he makes his way to the familiar lamppost.
He’s only mildly out of breath when he gets there, his clothes suddenly too warm and uncomfortable. He shrugs off his jacket and ties it around his waist before reaching out and touching the lamppost.
At the exact moment his fingertips touch the cold metal, he looks up to see the lamp burn just a tad brighter before dulling back down to its usual luminosity.
He smiles before trudging onward in the same direction, knowing that he’s almost reached his destination.
Izuku’s barely stepped into the clearing, the modest little cottage taking up his field of vision before it’s overtaken by a blur of white and Izuku is tackled to the ground.
He knows the most rational thing is to be terrified as the weight of the snow leopard above him presses down onto him, but all he can say is that it only fills him with joy.
Izuku laughs light and easy as the snow leopard's warm tongue lavishes his cheek, his whole face, apparently just as happy and excited to see him.
“It’s nice to see you too, girl,” he laughs as tries to sit up but the effort is futile.
“Yuki, that’s enough,” a soft, low voice commands as the person it belongs to approaches them. The sound alone makes Izuku’s heart beat quicker.
Yuki listens immediately, a little miffed as she steps away from Izuku. But the moment Shouto’s fingers scratch delicately at the fur atop her head, she purrs, all forgiven.
Izuku sits up and his breath is snatched right out of his lungs even though he was prepared. He’s not mad though, it’s inevitable that the sight of Shouto makes breathless every time. He’ll never get tired of potentially needing his inhaler.
Shouto’s as gorgeous and elegant as the first time Izuku ran into him, even more so now that he actually knows him. His posture regal and confident as he stands in front of Izuku’s who has forgotten about his attempt to get back on his feet.
He’s wearing dark trousers and a dark tunic with red trimmings, knee high boots and bright red gloves. His piercings glint in the pale winter sun.
He looks like any other person that lives here, just a regular guy, except the only item that could possibly give away his status being the dark navy thick woolen cloak he has wrapped around his shoulders. The trim of white fur is almost as white as the snow itself and the small golden clasp holding it together in front bears the royal insignia.
“Prince Todoroki,” he says, grinning up at Shouto as his lips twist into a disapproving frown.
“Don’t call me that,” Shouto pouts, pulling Izuku up with the hand he offers. “You know I’m just Shouto to you.” The words make Izuku’s heart swell with affection and his face flush slightly, feeling honored. Special.
Izuku wastes no time stepping into Shouto’s arms which he holds open a bit awkwardly, instantly wrapping his own around Shouto’s sturdy shoulders. Shouto squeezes his middle, tight, and he feels a shaky breath against the side of his head as he breathes Shouto in.
“I missed you,” he murmurs into Izuku’s hair.
Izuku laughs, “It’s only been a week.” But definitely a long week.
Shouto pulls back and bumps his forehead against his. “A week for you. But it’s been almost two months for me.”
Oh. Right. Time runs differently here than at home, Izuku tends to forget that. He feels bad.
“I brought us cake,” he tells Shouto, hoping to bring up his mood. He turns to see where the paper bag had fallen when Yuki had tackled him and picks it up. He hopes it didn’t get smushed but either way it’ll still taste good.
He holds it up. “For our d-date. It’s strawberry crème.”
Shouto’s eyes go wide as he mouths the word ‘strawberry’. The smile he gives Izuku when he looks up from the paper bag has his heart doing cartwheels. Oh man, he’s a goner.
“I have tea prepared and set for us inside,” Shouto says. “For our date.”
Izuku grins back, the urge to kiss him so very strong. But he holds back, for now. He’ll wait until they’re inside to ensure that they have real privacy. As much as it seems like they’re alone, he knows for a fact that at least a half dozen of Shouto’s closest body guards are currently surrounding them, hidden, to protect their prince as he makes his secret rendezvous.
He lets Shouto lead him inside the cottage by hand, Yuki looking at them longingly and hoping to come inside with them. Izuku feels guilty when Shouto says no, rather reluctantly he notes, and commands her to guard the door. She obeys and Izuku gives her a good head pat before he closes the door after him and Shouto.
Shouto’s demeanor instantly changes; the line of his shoulders relaxing, every ounce of his princely countenance melting away with the specks of snow at their feet so that all that’s left is just him.
He knows that even though he’d been quite open and vulnerable outside with him, this last performative layer is only shed in the privacy of their own space where none of his guards are lurking near but out of sight. Only when it’s just them, Shouto and Izuku.
He watches as Shouto waves a quick hand toward the little furnace which instantly blazes to life with his magic.
Magic. He’s still getting used to the fact that that’s a real thing here, if he’s honest.
He’s still staring at the flames in awe when Shouto steps closer to him once more.
“Hi,” Shouto says quietly and Izuku turns back to see a shy smile forming on his lips as he unclips his cloak and takes off his gloves, setting them onto the wooden stool beside him.
“Hi,” he whispers back, the words barely leaving his mouth before Shouto’s lips are on his.
Izuku kisses him back enthusiastically, setting the cake aside and arms winding around his neck, holding him close.
They’ve done this only a few times now, the first time as they said goodbye one of the times Izuku was here last month (in Izuku’s time). And then a couple more times after that. (Okay fine, maybe they did a bit more than kiss last time.)
But this kiss feels different than all of those, more intense, more desperate and needy. Izuku can’t get enough.
They stagger a bit as Izuku manages to shuck off his own gloves and outerwear. Shouto tries to steer them over to the little cot in the corner, humming in approval as Izuku pushes his tongue into his mouth before turning to gently nudge Shouto to sit down on the cot’s edge.
Izuku steps in between his long legs and pulls back for a quick breath before asking, “I thought we’re having tea.”
“The tea will still be there after.”
Izuku laughs, heart pounding against his ribcage. “But it’ll get cold!”
Shouto only deadpans, the expression so unprince-like that it makes him laugh again. He leans into the warmed hand that Shouto pointedly presses against his cheek.
“Okay, okay.” He leans forward and pecks Shouto’s lips, lingering to leave a quick lick on his bottom lip. He feels Shouto shiver.
Izuku runs his hand up the back of his silky hair and then back down and around his neck, thumbs caressing every dip and divot. That’s when he feels the scar just under the collar of his tunic.
He frowns and pulls it back to look and he hears Shouto take a sharp breath, watching Izuku closely with his hands securely around Izuku’s waist.
Izuku sees the thin line, still mildly red but healing, right over Shouto’s jugular. The mark was clearly intentionally left there using a knife.
“What’s this?” he asks quietly, eyes locked on the injury. He sees Shouto’s throat bob as he swallows.
“Had some upheaval down South again about three weeks ago,” Shouto says. “It’s under control now and things are moving forward but…it was a close call. But I’m alright, Izuku.”
Izuku flicks his eyes up to Shouto’s heterochromatic ones and then back down at the scar. He runs this thumb against it lightly and Shouto doesn’t even flinch.
“I’m glad. But I’m sorry I wasn’t here.”
Shouto huffs out a laugh. “I’d have worried more if you were, you know. I’m just glad to know you’re safe where you are. I doubt I’d be able to handle any more stress if you were here and potentially in trouble. It’s my worst nightmare.” He says the last part so quietly Izuku barely hears him.
“Has it really been that stressful lately?” Izuku asks, even though he knows it is. Shouto’s the prince of a whole kingdom, of course he’s stressed. Makes Izuku’s anxiety over his upcoming thermodynamics exam look silly in comparison, though that’s it’s own brand of stress he supposes.
Shouto just smiles up at him, soft and fond, warm and cold hands slipping under his sweater at his sides. “It’s been getting better, I promise. It’s the most peaceful the kingdom’s ever been, so it’s only natural that a few…disagreements flare up now and then. And I assure you I’ve handled them wisely, I care about my people.”
Izuku tugs lightly at the hairs at his nape. “I know you do. You’re great at what you do and you’re good.”
“I try.”
Izuku leans back in to press their mouths together again, closed mouthed pecks just to ground them again, back in the present.
Whatever it is they both have going on in their own lives, they’re here, right here and now. Together.
Shouto makes a sound and Izuku obliges, licking in past his lips, hands in his dual-colored hair gripping tighter.
It doesn’t take long for their clothes to come off, the chill of the cottage instantly assuaged by the warmth of the fire and their bodies.
Izuku has Shouto’s naked frame under him, stretched out like a painting on the length of the cot. It takes so much effort to try not to just stop everything and stare.
“You’re beautiful,” Shouto echoes his thoughts aloud, but–huh?
“Wha–me? Shouto, no, you–“
“You’re beautiful,” Shouto repeats and that’s final.
Izuku flushes redder but lets Shouto’s hands roam all over his sides and his back as he straddles him, leaning down and moaning when their cocks slide together.
Izuku presses his face into Shouto’s neck, nipping and kissing the tender skin there as Shouto whines.
He kisses open-mouthed under his jaw and sucks a bruise which he knows is probably not a good idea but the urge to leave his mark is too strong.
He shifts lower down to Shouto’s sharp collar bones, to his smooth chest, his stomach, licking and kissing his way down as the noises Shouto makes sound like music to his ears.
Izuku follows the little trail of red and white down, down and then he finally looks up at Shouto whose breaths are now short and fast. He has an arm slung over his eyes and he peeks down under it when he feels that Izuku has stopped.
Izuku smiles at him. “Let me take care of you, okay? I’m gonna make you feel good.”
He hears Shouto’s breath catch and then he nods.
His eyes disappear behind his arm and a groan escapes his lips as Izuku takes the head of his cock in his mouth, licking lightly and sucking on it just a bit. He swirls his tongue around a couple more times, brushing over the slit making Shouto gasp.
He pulls off again and Shouto peeks down at him with a pout and Izuku laughs.
“I’d like it if you watch me, you know,” he says softly, a little teasing, and he sees the flush intensify from Shouto’s chest right up to his neck. But he obliges and lets his arm fall to his side, clutching the sheets.
Izuku gently guides the hand up to his own hair instead and he sees the way Shouto’s pupils darken instantly. Izuku grins at him before tipping his head back down again.
He takes Shouto deeper this time, little by little until he has the whole length, the head just brushing the back of his throat.
He pulls all the way back and almost laughs when the hand in his hair tries to shove him back down in desperation. Shouto apologized sheepishly.
Izuku eventually finds and sets a rhythm, a hand accompanying his mouth to make sure he can get every inch of Shouto feeling good. Shouto only deserves the very best.
Shouto’s gasps and moans have now taken the form of Izuku’s name and his name alone, spoken like a mantra as the grip he has on Izuku’s hair tightens as his orgasm builds.
Izuku keeps his pace and encourages Shouto with noises of his own when he feels his hips buck off the cot to try and match him.
His jaw starts feeling sore but soon he feels Shouto’s hips begin to stutter and words turning incoherent as he reaches his peak.
Izuku sucks the head nice and hard one last time before pushing back down all the way and Shouto comes undone, back arching and a moan barely making it past his lips.
His body finally relaxes and Izuku pulls off, swiping his mouth with a forearm before clambering back up to meet Shouto’s lips.
They kiss slow and languid, Shouto initially still out of it to kiss him back but eventually leaning into it with full force, cupping the back of Izuku’s neck.
Their lips never up the pace, just stay pressed together open and pliant as their tongues slide against one another as they explore each other’s mouths anew.
Shouto’s free hand eventually slides up between their flushed, sweaty bodies and grips Izuku’s cock. He groans against Shouto’s mouth as he begins to work him up, hand working a kind of magic that has nothing to do with his usual ice and fire.
Izuku has his eyes squeezed tight with pleasure, forehead pressed against Shouto’s, and his breaths growing haggard as his own orgasm builds with Shouto’s hand. He gasps when a thumb circles the head before continuing the long strokes and he opens his eyes to find Shouto looking right back with absolute adoration in his eyes.
And that’s the end for him.
He comes hard with a shout and slumps on top of Shouto, feeling a bit guilty about the mess between them now but also not really.
Shouto rolls him onto his side so that they’re facing each other, quickly grabbing a random corner of the sheets to clean them up a little and then tossing it aside. It takes a bit for Izuku’s brain to fully come back online.
He registers Shouto’s hand on his low back, rubbing small circles and holding him close so that neither of them roll off the narrow cot. Izuku leans forward and presses a kiss to the corner of his mouth.
“How much time do we have?” he whispers, already feeling his heart sinking at the prospect of ever having to leave.
“We have time,” Shouto assures him, nuzzling closer and tucking himself under Izuku’s neck. His hair tickles a bit and it makes him giggle a little.
“We still have to have our tea and the cake,” he reminds Shouto as he attempts to bury himself into Izuku’s chest. Oh what he would give for that to actually be possible.
“We will. But right now I just want you like this, just a little longer. Please?”
And who is Izuku to deny a prince of what he wants. No, not prince, just Shouto.
So Izuku holds him as he feels Shouto drift off, heart squeezing to know how much he trusts Izuku to let his walls down like this. He feels honored to be this safe haven for him, a place away from all his royal duties and expectations.
And he knows Shouto appreciates it too, finds comfort in the fact that Izuku’s just Some Guy from another plane of existence that doesn’t see him as the rest of his world sees him. That to him, Shouto is just Some Guy too.
Albeit the most handsome one to ever exist probably.
The sun starts to sink low and the orange rays trickle in through the small window.
Izuku wraps his arms around Shouto and lets himself be reeled into unconsciousness as well. As far as they’re concerned in this moment, they have all the time in the world. This one and his own.
