Chapter Text
Smirking gleefully, Donnie aimed the gun down at their brother’s phone, pulling the trigger.

Donnie, if they had to say, knew they were a very vengeful person. When Leo stole their slice of pizza, the next time he opened the fridge, milk shot out and drenched him. When Raph messed with their tech uninvited, all his masks mysteriously went missing, only returning after he’d searched everywhere else. When Mikey recklessly knocked over and broke something important- well, Donnie didn’t do anything then- because Mikey already did everything in his power to make it up to them anyways. That’s simply how Mikey is with them.
But perhaps, the most obvious example of their vengeful spirit was now. Their three brothers had wandered into their lab sometime while they and April were out on an electronic scavenge trip. They had only been gone for a measly 30 minutes when troubling texts from Mikey came tumbling in- rambling on about how they and Raph told Leo it was a bad idea, how the multidimensional gun that Donnie had only just finished the alpha stages of finishing was smoking and-
Donnie stopped their shaken up brother right there and promptly came home to a fucking HOLE in their lab’s floor and broken gun. Raph seemed to have already chewed Leo out for them, but no no no- Donnie was way past that. Leo had matured since the Kra- the invasion, finally taking the steps needed to become full on leader of the group, but that did not mean he was immune to dumb moments. All of the turtles- even April- had them from time to time, though Donnie would never admit that, and while this was far from Leo’s worst, Donnie would not let it slide.
“I thought it was your old laser gun! You have to admit, Dee, they look pretty similar-”
“Sleep with your eyes open, Nardo.”
“Sheesh- you gonna let this obvious, open threat slide, dear old man?”
“Don’t call me an old man- and Donnie, don’t murder him.”
“LONG SIGH, fine.”
The next few days and nights (when Raph didn’t force them to sleep, that is) after that were spent rebuilding their multidimensional gun, rewiring and retesting so that this time it didn’t shoot a laser- instead shooting out a big, beautiful portal to themself from another universe- and the perfect first test subject was the lonely phone Leo had just recklessly left laying around in the living room. Sure, Leo left it to do a good deed- grabbing a few blankets from his room to bring back and drape over Junior’s sleeping form, but Donnie was a petty, petty bitch, and Leo was the latest in the ever long line of creatures to receive their wrath.
-
Dropping into their chair, Donnie sat the newly stolen phone on their unusually empty desk, preparing it for their test run of the multidimensional gun. They had run many calculations- the most the gun should do is cause their dear, dumb brother to get random news articles on his feed from other dimensions. The only harm they intend to do is give their brother a little scare, that’s all.
Grabbing the gun, taking the proper precautions and checking over it one more time, they stand up, smirking gleefully as they aim the gun down at their brother’s phone before pulling the trigger.
. . .
And nothing happens.
Blinking away the surprise, Donnie shook their head and pulled the trigger again- but nothing. They had expected maybe a beam of light that connected the two- heck, they’d be happy if it even had just seared through the phone, it’s not like they can’t make him another one, but nothing? It perplexed them.
Setting the gun down and grabbing a pair of gloves, they quickly tucked them on before picking up the phone and turning it on. Most of what they saw was meaningless garbage- random notifications, begrudgingly from their world, about whatever- until a new notification appeared- one that caught Donnie’s eye.
CaptainRyan: Guys- who’s @TheBetterTwin9000 ?
Thebestbrother™: MIKEY I SWEAR IF YOU ADDED SOMEONE TO OUR PRIVATE GC…
The text cut off, but it was enough for Donnie to understand what exactly was going on. Their gun, while not in a flashy or cool way (they’d fix that later on), had, in fact, worked, and maybe their wish of meeting another version of themself would be fulfilled much sooner than expected.
