RamKing
Ram was used to feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. His family’s problems plaguing him relentlessly, despite the fact that his father continued to act as if he was doing nothing wrong. The pressure of it all causing internal chaos, chaos that directly contradicted his external silence.
His thoughts seemed to swirl around his head non-stop.
How could he do this to Mum? His own Wife? To his sons?
Did him and Ruj mean nothing to him? Or was it just that they meant less than his mistress?
A mistress that was only a year older than Ram. His neighbour and long-time friend.
Pin had been his only friend in Thailand when they had first moved to the country, the only one willing to befriend the mixed race kid that could barely speak the language. How could she do this to him?
His friends were all distracted by their own lives and studies. Duen was balancing university and Bohn, Tang was wrangling Ting Ting amid his engineering work, and Ting Ting was terrifying everyone with her antics. He couldn’t burden them with his problems.
And then there was King. Stubborn and annoyingly beautiful King. Catching him off guard at every turn, flustering him until his small amount of speech left him completely. The senior was determined to make Ram talk to him, but all Ram dreamed of was kissing him.
Now here he was, as good as homeless, standing on the street with his dogs at his feet. A storm approaching. Alone.
“Hey, Cool Boy!”
Or maybe not totally alone.
There cowering behind the building he was sheltering under, was King. Beautiful, Godly King. A smile on his face despite having his greatest fear in front of him in triplicate. In that moment, Ram would have given anything to have him look at him like that for the rest of his life.
“Cool Boy? Are you okay?” King continued, oblivious to Ram’s internal pining.
“I… I don’t…” Ram began, wanting nothing more than to be able to King exactly what was going on, but, as was his life, words failed him.
King, seeing the pain on his junior’s face, hesitantly took a step towards him. Slowly, so as to not spook the large dogs at his feet.
“I don’t know what has happened, but Ruj is worried. He called all your friends in search of you. I know Duen and Bohn were driving around the parks closer to your parents looking for you.” King told him, still inching closer. “Come on, my place is close. Let’s get out of this rain.”
Ram was having trouble processing King’s words, still struggling to find his own.
“No!”
“No?” King asked, hurt by Ram’s outburst.
Ram seeing that he had hurt the one who had shown him nothing but kindness, hurried to clarify. “The dogs! I can’t bring them to your place… it… it’s not fair!” His hands tightening on the three leashes he held, his dogs sat obediently awaiting his commands.
Smiling at his Cool Boy, King’s heart melted. Maybe, just maybe, they would be okay after all.
