Standing in the Venice Rain

Summary:

Rain wants to meet Phayu's parents... What could go wrong?

Notes:

I adore the idea of Phayu being Venice, and just love the idea of Vegas breaking generational trauma and being a doting dad to Venice.

And is absolutely on board with spoiling Rain!

Chapter 1

Fatherly Support

“You want to meet my parents?” Phayu asked the boy draped across his chest, his boy sleepy in that distinctly sex drunk way.

“Mmm… Want to meet who raised my P’Phayu…” Rain drawled, half asleep. As he trailed off, silence enveloped them. The two of them settled in each other's embrace, content.

But as his darling slept peacefully against him, Phayu was left wide awake. His mind swirling with thoughts of Rain meeting his family. Of telling him the truth about his family. Would he run? Would he still love him?

Two weeks later Phayu found himself in the halls of his childhood home, the Minor Family’s Manor. His relationship with Rain had progressed past the point of any of his previous flings, his past lovers were glaringly insignificant in the face of what he had now with Rain. Never before had he considered bringing someone to meet his parents. How could he, when introducing them would not only reveal the big bad mafia secret but also give his father the opportunity to threaten and scare away his partner.

However, Rain hadn’t flinched at what happened with Stop. Had admitted to being scared of P’Chai but not disgusted or scared of the criminal nature his work obviously included. He also was not scared of the illegal races that the brothers were a part of. Sweet innocent Rain, who Phayu was madly in love with, was certainly not scared of the dark. Maybe, he could handle a little more darkness.

Which led him here, trying to work up the courage to knock on his father’s door.

“You know the door won’t work unless you open it.” The familiar voice behind him was startling.

“Papa! I thought you were at the Main House with Uncle Porsche and Uncle Tankhun.” Phayu didn’t know what to do now, his Papa was arguably more protective of him than his Father was. Memories of the ex-bodyguard storming the Main House when he had sent the SOS message after Tankhun held him hostage in his rooms for yet another marathon of his favourite series flooded his mind. Would his parents accept Rain? They hadn’t approved of any of his past flings, but surely, they would see just how serious he was about Rain.

Seeing his strong willed son so uncharacteristically nervous, softened Pete of his teasing. “Venice? Is everything okay?”

“Yes Papa… I just need to talk to Dad… I just…” He trailed off, words failing him in his nervousness.

Pete frowned, stepping forward to pull his boy into his arms. “Whatever is happening, we are here for you. Always.”

Unbeknownst to the pair hugging, the door behind them opened. Vegas, who had heard everything, gently placed his hand on the back of Venice’s head. His heart hurt at hearing his son struggle with coming to talk to him, he never wanted him to experience the fear and hurt he had at the hands of his father.

Jumping at the unexpected touch, Phayu straightened up out of his Pa’s arms.

“Dad…” He took a deep breath before continuing. “Can we talk?”

The trio had settled on the sofa, the son protectively sandwiched between both of his fathers.

Phayu didn’t know if he’d ever felt safer then right there surrounded by his Pa and Dad. His heart jumped when he realised the only thing that he felt was missing was Rain. His sweet, innocent, good boy, Rain. It lit a fire in him, now more determined than ever to have this conversation.

“Pa. Dad. I met someone, someone amazing and he really wants to meet you… I want him to meet you…” He trailed off, the confidence leaving him at his fathers’ stunned faces.
