Chapter Text
Enid has forgotten when did it start.
Her discovery of how much of a tsundere, Wednesday is.
She's not even sure if she was already late to notice it. Perhaps she just became more attentive after the incident involving crackstone.
The raven was... Unexpectedly aware of everything she deemed unimportant; The story Enid rambled weeks ago, the preferences she has.
Not that she thinks the same way as everyone, that Wednesday doesn't care about anyone or anything at all. But to care that much for her?
It's quite surprising.
"Enid." Speaking of.
She turned her head at the shorter who laid a glass on her bedside.
"Chocolate?" Enid softly asks and Wednesday hums in agreement.
"Wednesday Addams brings a hot cup of chocolate to her roommate at night, how does that sound for my blog," Enid sat on her bed, carefully lifting the hot mug.
There's a smug on her lips as she eyed the latter who looks at her in disapprovement.
"Horrible."
Enid chuckles and took a sip. Wincing slightly as the temperature burned her tongue.
"I figured out you sleep earlier after drinking a cup of chocolate. I am willing to do that every evening for the cost of my peaceful writing hours." Wednesday walked back to her side of the room. Sitting in front of her table.
Enid fixes her position and watches the latter prepare her things. "Yeah whatever, I won't include that in my gossip,"
"You do you, Sinclair"
"Uh-huh, you bet." Enid grabbed her phone from her soft pink cover, scrolling on her homepage as she looks for her socials.
She chuckled as she typed it, to be honest aside from trying to tease the Addams, she will never admit she's also boasting of how close she is with the latter.
"I'm about to post it~" She tilted her head to peek at her roommate.
Wednesday didn't respond. Instead, she started typing.
Enid scrunched her nose and tightened her lips subtly. Expressing her disappointment as she failed to elicit a reaction.
She continued scrolling through Twitter, opting to use it instead of watching videos on Tiktok to not disturb Wednesday.
--
Lunchtimes mean crowded canteen.
There is the clattering of the utensils, the loud wolves, and the chit-chattering of the other students.
It's not a usual view for Wednesday Addams to join such. Her eating time is odd as expected as she has no specific schedule for eating.
So whenever she does, the noise of the cafeteria decreases in half. No exaggeration.
The raven doesn't have to say anything for them to lower their voices and behave themselves, her presence menacing enough.
"Willa!" Enid calls.
The others side-eyed her. Not everyone is privileged enough to give a nickname to the Addams, nor to use it in a crowded place.
Bold move.
Wednesday turned to her and sat beside the space Enid offered. No reaction or whatsoever to the nickname she just got called.
"I'll get both of us a meal!"
Wednesday hums. Glaring at Yoko, Divina, and Ajax who were also at the table as Enid left her with them.
It was silent, no one daring to speak a word. The group was sharing glances even at the table where Bianca and Xavier are sitting.
"Would you all fancy eyeballs for lunch?"
Yoko grimaced in disgust and Divina acted out puking. Bianca on the other side laughed.
Enid, fortunately, returned immediately. The group sighed in relief.
"Aww, that's sweet of you guys to wait for us before eating!" Enid happily says as she set the trays.
"We were about to but we lost our appetite," Divina elbowed Yoko who only chuckled.
The group started eating anyway.
"This could've been perfect without the olives," Enid sadly utters, removing each of the said vegetables.
"Your taste is as awful as the color of your room," Wednesday stabbed the potatoes on her plate, transferring them to Enid's.
"Says the one that hates potatoes,"
"I do not hate potatoes. You just simply prefer them more than I do," Wednesday nonchalantly started eating.
"Would you like my olives?"
Wednesday didn't nod nor agreed, she simply pushed her plate near Enid who smiled and happily gave it.
"Do you know the olive theory?" Enid asks as she chews.
"The other doesn't like olives and the other does, it makes them a perfect couple," Enid's smiled and so are the siren and vampire in front of them who are silently watching.
"Interesting theory. But do refrain from speaking about how your relationship with Ajax is perfect. I am not pleased with hearing your gross trope," Bitterness spat out of Wednesday's mouth as she sliced her meal.
Oh.
The group turned silent. She broke up with him a week ago. Not telling anyone because Ajax forces out that they just needed space.
She figured out it would cause an issue.
Enid looked at the Gorgon who was awkwardly eating.
She totally forgot about his company.
And the fact that Ajax doesn't like olives as well.
--
Old books. Stiff wooden chairs.
The library used to be the least place Enid would go through on campus. She can't have a conversation with people (technically she can but her high-pitched voice is hard to control if it means having to be as quiet as possible). And she's not a bookworm.
But here she is, finding herself sitting in the corner where she usually finds Wednesday sitting in the dawn after class when she looks for her to go to the dorm together.
It's early in the afternoon, her anatomy class is canceled. Her footsteps led her to this spot and it's perfect she thinks.
The solitude and quietness help her to ponder the things running through her mind.
Is she... Is she in love with the Addams?
She slowly blinks.
Sometimes she hopes she's as smart as Wednesday.
Just as she was thinking of the shorter, she noticed someone sitting beside her. The scent of forest mist and salty ocean waves was what crazy perfume companies name some similar fragrances that invaded her nose.
God, only one person possesses such a scent.
She groans and laid her head on top of Wednesday's shoulders. Burying her face in the crook of the latter's neck.
Inhaling more, including the smell of shampoo on Wednesday's hair that sometimes gets stuck on her fingers as she volunteers to undo the braids on some nights.
"Wends..." Her lips slightly brush the raven's neck.
"I feel so lost," She quietly murmured.
She noticed the irregular pulse, the hitch breathing. But she chose to focus on closing her eyes, burying this very moment in her mind.
"Everyone goes through the tragic cycle of living; feeling lost, finding yourself, and then slowly losing again. Worry not, wherever you may find yourself... Thing will be there with you."
Enid detaches herself and stared with a soft smile on her lips.
"You're getting good at comforting,"
"That sounds awful, I am simply stating the truth."
"Right. Because Thing will always be there for me?"
Wednesday turned to look at her, gaze much more softer than what she usually has.
"Always."
Enid giggles, inching herself closer and going back to the position she left.
"Don't you have a class?"
"Our professor ditched us. What a waste, I would have loved to listen to today's lesson,"
"What is it about?"
"Werewolves."
Enid glances at the book Wednesday is holding.
"I'm not surprised you have perfect grades at this point. You're studying the lesson that was not taught instead of doing some other fun things in the meantime."
Wednesday's eyebrows furrowed.
"Learning is fun."
"Whatever, nerd. Our kinds aren't that interesting."
Wednesday shifted the page. Her voice was low, almost whispering. "It's quite the contrary."
--
It's valentines day and Enid has received a pretty decent amount of gifts and letters.
Ajax gave her a bouquet but-
There's a big difference between a bought flower and a planted one.
Wednesday was just almost always... Better.
The bouquet of random flowers she was holding before entering her room was left on her bed as her attention was on the pot of sunflower on top of her side table. There was a letter beside it. Wrapped in silky black paper with a tampered wax.
She opened it and traced the letters written using a typewriter. Biting her lips to suppress a smile.
This is ninety days old.
The activity was fatuous, it was Thing that convinced me to give at least one plant to a person.
You remind me of the hideous sunflower so I planted one.
Do not remove it from the soil, Mutt.
Let it wither to where it grows.
She took in a deep breath.
This is not right.
The feelings that are evolving like the sunflower did from the soil.
The door creaks as it opened. Like an automated stupid pup, she enthusiastically greeted the latter.
Wednesday eyed what she was holding and then the flowers and letters on the bed.
Enid didn't miss the pride and satisfaction from the small tug of the raven's lips has shown before it was replaced by the blank facade as she walks towards her bed.
--
Beanies and sweet smiles.
Where are the giddy feelings?
The anticipation that she use to have?
Ajax was a good boyfriend. Was.
She liked him for so long, remembering how many times she tried to hit him up, counted how long were the short conversations they shared, and the secret glimpse as he walks in the hallway with his friends.
She's confused about how those sensations faded away not so long after they got together.
She massaged her temples. Clenching her jaw as she felt his hand caress her back in a soothing manner.
It's not working.
"Ajax, I don't think... I- please I don't need space. I don't like you anymore and I'm really sorry," She removes his arm and faces him.
This is the third time that she persuaded him to finally accept that she wants a breakup.
"Please tell me that's not true," Ajax shook his head with teary eyes.
He pulls her, arms sneaking behind her neck and waist. Lips clashing.
She pushes him immediately and thankfully he doesn't relent. His eyes widened slightly as he stares behind her and he completely detaches himself from Enid.
She turned her back and locked eyes with Wednesday that was holding a book.
Shit.
How long has she been standing there?
Wednesday broke eye contact and left.
Before Enid could catch up Ajax stopped her. She managed to free herself from his grasp easily.
She feels so shitty for hurting him. But fuck, he's an asshole for initiating that damn kiss she didn't want at all.
--
All of her failed attempts the whole day of looking for Wednesday were solved the minute she heard the depressing cello music playing.
She immediately ran to their shared room.
Her footsteps slow down as she stares at the silhouette from the half-stained glass and the half-not, playing with so much intensity while Thing assists in moving the pages for the notes.
She waited until the whole play was done. Patiently watching the two pack and carry the materials they have used before entering.
"Wednesday..."
Wednesday turned to look at her. She wasn't glaring, that's a good sign, right?
"I'm so sorry about a while ago," She steps closer but stops as she finally notices the tape coming back.
Ah.
Wednesday assembles her cello to its proper position before walking in front of Enid. Standing an inch away from the line.
"I wasn't on my mind dragging him to your spot, it's not in my intention for you to see it. I... I just, I have to tell him something-"
"You do not have to explain, Enid." Wednesday calmly responds.
"It's a private matter, I understand."
Enid looks down, eyes watering. "But the t-tape?" she asks, her voice cracking.
"I figured out I prefer it with it on. After all, I have to constantly be reminded that color drains me out if I get too much." Wednesday's eyes never left hers.
Enid's brows confronted.
That's not true.
"You've been completely fine with the colors, Wednesday?! You never had allergic reactions when I hugged you with my colorful sweatshirt on or when the different colors of this glass hit your face when you hand me my cup of chocolate at nights!" She stomps in disagreement.
Her fingers twitch at all of the subtle emotions that appear on the shorter's features.
Frustration quickly leaves Enid's system.
Wednesday turned her back. Thing jumps off of the bed, making her way towards the werewolf, signing 'It's not about the colors'.
Then what is it about?
--
"You." Yoko pointed at her with a scowl on her face.
"Are fucking dumb." Divina continued.
Enid whined and slumped her body on the grass.
"I know I am that's why I came here! You guys will either help me or you guys will!"
"What a fair option you got there," Divina laid beside her but her head is supported by her wrist, elbow folded. She has a smirk on her lips while staring at her sulking idiotic friend.
"Only the three of you are unaware of the reality of all things," Yoko snickered at the siren's statement.
"Well then enlighten me for Pete's sake. I'm so stressed out by Ajax's refusal to let me go and Wednesday keeping her distance away from me!" She groaned and closed her eyes.
"Unless you finally tell us what the hell happened then only then we can help you."
Enid looked at them hesitantly, she can't say anything yet because she was not also sure if Wednesday heard the whole exchange.
"The only thing that I can tell the both of you is that Ajax won't leave me alone and that Wednesday seems to put distance from me,"
"Wednesday did that for a reason, you either annoyed her too much or she likes you but you're still with Ajax. And the chances lean towards more on-"
"On the first one, I get it. No need to shove it on my face, you damn blood-sucking pretty asshole,"
Divina flicks her forehead making her wince. "Language, Sinclair. I suggest you cool yourself down, that will probably help you think more,"
Enid face palmed and sighs.
--
"Mutt,"
"Yes!" She instantly rose from her bed. Excitedly meeting her roommate's eyes who looked surprised.
She just can't keep herself calm, after all, it has been 2 days and their conversations are getting shorter than her hair. She doesn't think can last another night with so much silence between them.
Their physical contact became less, whenever Enid tried to initiate one Wednesday always just stands still. No gentle pats like she used to give recently, or no groaning and complaining that she hates it.
So Enid thought that perhaps Wednesday really wanted distance from the colors for a while, or whatever she means by that. As she's annoyed with the boundaries that Ajax can't give, surely she wouldn't want that for Wednesday as well.
She, as much as possible, and as hard as she tries to resist the magnetic force of the raven, she granted what she despise.
"If you're in your wolf form, I'm sure your tail will be wiggling by now," There was amusement in Wednesday's tone and Enid felt the weight on her chest is lifted.
God, she missed Wednesday.
"Probably," She smiles and sat.
"I was just thinking, I'm going to write two chapters tonight. Would you like some chocolate?"
Enid bites her tongue. Of course, she would love some chocolate.
"Can I come with you?" she raises her eyebrows in anticipation.
"Bring a jacket,"
--
Dew on leaves, damp soil.
"This looks like Taylor's album cover you know? Specifically, folklore because of the fog," They stared at the forest from glass in the library.
The shorter only hummed.
"Hmm, yes, where the cardigan song is under."
She exaggeratedly gasps. "How do you know that?!" she whispered aggressively.
Wednesday looked nonchalant.
"You browse your playlist beside me. I was also curious seeing the album cover, I thought the songs under it would be more sinister rather than gloomy. Clearly, I am mistaken when you played them all."
"You're more attentive than I expected," Enid sat beside her, slightly nudging her roommate and grins.
"Ich stimme zu (I agree),"
"Ich steam what??"
"I said it's almost time for our classes,"
Enid squinted her eyes in suspicion. She shrugs anyway and then remembers the jacket wrapped around her.
"Can I use this for today?" Wednesday turns to look at her. Eyeing her black jacket that she was wearing a while ago before lending it to the shivering werewolf.
"I mostly have sweaters instead of jackets and uhm the school only allows jackets or coats in covering the uniform," She tries to reason out. She definitely has plenty of jackets and coats inside her closet.
Wednesday looked at her piercingly.
"Return it this evening."
--
Wolf camp?
Enid clenches her jaw, throwing the letter back on her lockers. She has finally wolfed out but they're still bothering her for training.
Sure, she admits that she cannot control her transformations yet but that's her problem. Not anyone else's.
She slams the door and twisted the keys to lock it. She grabbed her sabre mask and returned to the fencing room.
Most of the students crowded at the match of Wednesday and Bianca and only got shooed when the referee announced them to return and practice.
She's not good with fencing, in terms of comparison from Addams and Barclay. However, she's still pretty decent.
Her footwork today was bad, she stumbled and delayed the timings of defense. Her preoccupied mind is not helping her focus, technique slipping off her senses, aggressively clattering the sword.
It sure catches the attention of others.
Because Enid Sinclair always uses defense, not offense, and yet here she is, swinging her foil with extra force to exert her frustration, and her opponent also stumbles and loses balance- falling in the process.
She takes in quick breaths and returned back to her position.
The adrenaline is still flowing from her veins.
She heard a few cheers muffled by her masks. Feeling lightheaded throughout the fight.
Her match ended quickly with the win on her side.
The others packed up but she just sits there, looking deflated, unaware of the eye that was on her since the start of her match.
"Leave us." The familiar demanding voice of the Addams said to Enid's friend group. Yoko and Divina have to persuade Ajax who was about to complain.
Soon, they were left in the room.
And she felt a hand on her shoulder, saw a look of concern.
She swallows a sob as tears made their way to her eyes.
She wants her restless mind clear.
But how does she get it? Wednesday's on and off. Ajax is purely in denial. Her mother's up again about the wolf's camp.
She stood up and the hands on her shoulder slipped.
"I'm okay," She muttered under her breath and made her way toward her things that are leaned on the wall.
"Enid," She ignored Wednesday's call.
"Talk to me,"
"Didn't you also want space?!" She frustratedly exclaimed. She throws her mask on the floor and faces the latter.
"There's seriously no point in me telling you what made me upset! Wasn't the line of tape a sign about how I should step back and remember that I am just your roommate? So what if it concerns you? I don't even know what you consider me, are we, friends? D-do you even consider me one? Ugh, fuck! You know what, just get out of this room or I'll cross whatever boundaries you set up for us!" Enid angrily pointed out at the door.
Wednesday stood still, with no evidence that she was taken aback by the outburst.
"I'm fucking serious right now, Wednesday." Enid steps in front of her, looking down.
"I'm not leaving you here alone."
Enid grabs her collar and pulled her harshly. She stares at the brown calm eyes returning the same intensity, her gaze eventually travels down and her impulsiveness got ahead of her. She leaned down and claimed Wednesday's lips.
Her mind turning impossibly blank. All that she can think of is how cold and yet soft it was. She felt all her muscles relax as she succumbs to it more. The aggressiveness slowly decreasing.
She snakes her hand behind the shorter's neck. Tilting her face as she moves her lips.
Then a hand on her shoulder slightly pushed her, she complies, slightly annoyed and eager to continue. Her half-lidded eyes pleaded along with her lips.
"Enid,"
Has her name always sounded that good?
"Please, Wednesday?"
She didn't have to ask twice.
The raven pulled her, finally responding to her kisses. The weak whimpers, the slight tug on her hair, the tongue that grazes her lips. All of those made her dizzy.
She was pushed again, just gentler than the first time.
"Breathe, mon soleil."
She gasped for air, her chest heaving.
She buried her face in the crook of Wednesday's neck.
"Breathe..." She hears again. An arm wrapped around her back, drawing comforting circles.
She felt herself melting.
Her mind has never been peaceful until this time. Until what it has was only Wednesday.
--
"Are you serious?" Yoko's mouth gaped. Her eyes wide.
"You... You make out with the Wednesday Addams in the fencing room?!" Enid embarrassedly covered her face with the pillows and groaned.
"No bitch what the fuck get up!" Yoko pulled her with her vampire strength and shook her shoulders.
"That was 3 fucking days ago?! Since you started sleeping here again?!"
Enid nodded groggily.
"Oh my god, Sinclair..." Yoko's grasp loosened and she massaged her temple.
"So that's why she knows your fucking lip balm!"
"My what?" Enid's forehead creases.
"While we were in class a while ago, Divina and I were talking about makeup, no pun intended." Enid rolled her eyes.
"And so Divina said she likes the tint of your lips and I said 'It's probably tinted strawberry lip balm' and guess what you stupid moron, Wednesday who was unexpectedly listening to us said it was cherry-flavored!"
Enid felt her cheeks getting flushed.
"So you basically ghosted her after making out with her, which I repeat you initiated."
"I didn't ghost her!"
"You were literally avoiding her! You moved into my room, ignored her in classes, and spent your usual afternoon breaks with us instead of the library," Yoko listed while raising a finger for each of the things that Enid did.
She blinks as she absorbed it all in.
"Care to explain why you did that?" Her best friend crossed her arm with a face of disappointment.
"I was embarrassed for my impulsiveness,"
"Yeah well suck it up because you're being impulsive again! I used to think you'll figure it out yourself but oh god Enid you're one dumb werewolf." Yoko pauses and pulled Enid closer harshly. She raises her eyebrows and began saying things slower for it to enter Enid's brain.
"You like Wednesday... Wednesday likes you... and Ajax doesn't want to let you go because you didn't give him a proper reason why... So he thinks that you're just traumatized from the incident and for some reason you just lost your mind..." Yoko forces out a smile and tilted her head.
"Do you get it?"
Enid slowly blinks.
"Wednesday likes me?"
"Yeah, and everybody knows the two of you like each other before you figure it out yourself. Oh god, I'm a vampire, not cupid but explain to you fucking girl and tell it straight to Ajax that you have developed feelings for Wednesday and were just late to realize it,"
Enid remained dazed.
"What the hell are you waiting for-"
"What does mon soleil means?"
"Uhm? It's 'my sun',"
