PS: Also the official title is: I Want To Show You the World ^Love, If You Let Me Damn It. But it wouldn't let me do the strike-through in the title bar.
Story:
Eddie took a deep breath enjoying all the clean air.
It wasn't often that he got a chance to get out of the city. Don't get him wrong, he loves San Francisco almost as much as he loved New York. But sometimes you just had to get away.
And well after the whole Life thing and almost dying multiple times he needed this.
The fresh air.
The view.
And the whole reason for being here, the snow.
As far as the eye could see the land was covered in white. So beautiful. And it was so quiet up here. The only real sounds were the whirling of the gears of the ski lift, the creaking of the chair Eddie sat in and the wind as it whipped by.
But Eddie was at peace here as he swayed in the air. Normally Eddie didn't like heights but he has grown to fear them a little less recently. It's hard to be scared when you have something inside of you now that is practically indestructible. Making you pretty close to immortal.
That and seeing this sort of view, all of this beauty just made everything else seem so small and pointless. It was something his artistic side was loving.
Eddie wanted nothing more than to take his phone out and snap a few pictures. Hell he wished he had his camera with him but he had left it in the cabin.
For a second he thought about reaching into the layers of clothes he had on to get to his phone but that was quickly dropped.
There was a low grumbling that had been going nonstop since they had arrived at the resort. No, wait, since they stepped off the plane that had now turned into an unending rant.
"How dare you bring me out here to this lame place . I'm cold . I don't like it . I want to be inside." The deep voice rambled on. Eddie tried very hard to tune out said voice. It wasn't easy when the voice was coming from both beside his ear and inside of Eddie's mind.
"EDDIE ARE YOU IGNORING US!?" Venom asked irritatingly loud in the stillness.
There was an odd sensation as the Symbiote slipped out from where it had been hiding under Eddie's skullcap. The black ooze quickly poured out, taking the shape of Venom's large head. Its teeth were displayed in a frown on the disembodied head. Eddie slumped back into the seat. A habit he had gotten into since gaining the alien parasite.
He was just glad that no one was with them right now. It had been a long fight to get Venom to leave the warmth of the cabin earlier to hit the snow. The fancy cabin they were rooming in was a sort of gift. Mrs. Chen had been able to offer up a weekend at the cabin as a thank you for the help with getting rid of the man that had been bleeding her dry for "protection". One of her many family members had worked at the ski resort and with a little wheedling Eddie was able to get a cabin during the slow season.
It had been a chance he jumped on since one: it was free. And two: the cabin came fully stock. Eddie had figured that it would be a great chance to step back and give himself some time to think about what he wanted from life.
To mourn the loss of Anne properly. And to introduce Venom to snow. Show the alien something new about the world it was currently inhabiting.
He had thought it would be fun.
In reality it was a big fucking headache.
"Venom, we talked about this. You can't just appear whenever you want when we are in public." Eddie chided. Sometimes when he talked to Venom he felt like he was talking to a child. The big inky white eyes narrowed.
"I am not a child, Eddie. I am way older than you. Older than you will ever be because you are nothing but a human. And humans are frail and so easy to kill." Venom ranted loudly.
It made Eddie smile as he ordered Venom once more to stay out of his thoughts. Something that they were working on to varying levels of success. But sometimes it was worth the invasion of privacy to watch moments like these with Venom.
It was so easy to rile Venom up. The alien had such an interesting and different view on everything that forced Eddie to see his whole life in another way.
And while there were times that he and Venom did not get along, they always found a way to come to an agreement in the end.
After all, they were stuck with one another. Though they each could go separate ways Eddie supposed. It's just that they had been together for a few months now. Eddie didn't think he could go back to being alone in his own skin. It would probably drive him insane. Which was definitely not a normal way of thinking.
He hoped it never came to that
It took Eddie a moment to notice that it had gone quiet around him. He chanced a look to see Venom was giving him an odd look. One that Eddie did not recognize. "What?" he asked. Because it was best to sort things out early when it came to Venom. Otherwise the alien would start to get ideas.
"I was just wondering if you were going to try and kiss me with all this romantic crap you are feeling right now." Venom shot back. Eddie was a bit taken aback by the words. Even after all this time, the nonexistent filter of Venom could be a bit much at times.
But once his brain rebooted Eddie frowned and picked his words carefully. "How did you come to the conclusion of me, you and romance?" Eddie asked. Because when it came to Venom you had to skip pleasantries and get right to the meat of things.
Venom cocked his head to the side looking remarkably like a giant dog. "When I asked you about love before you said it was an intense feeling of deep affection. A want to be with one another and to make life better together. And when that person is forever in your thoughts. But I looked it up. It said strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. An affection and tenderness felt by lovers and lastly affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests." With each word Eddie was reminded of how smart the alien truly was.
As well as how it all rang true within him.
Yet, Eddie still clung to the safety of what he knew. What he was supposed to like by replying back, "Yes, but that was in regards to Annie." It was a feeble attempt.
One that left a bitter taste on his tongue. Eddie could tell by the waves of feelings that were coming off the other that Venom wasn't happy. It made Eddie shudder a little because he could tell that Venom wasn't going to give up that easily.
"But isn't it true that there are different types of love? And that humans can love more than one being at a time? Like their mate, children and pets? Past and present Lovers?" The more Venom probed the more Eddie questioned himself.
Could he feel love for something that was a part of him?
Could Venom even be capable of love? Or was it a feeling that was tied to their state of being in the same body?
That had to be it right there?
Eddie was a normal red blooded male that loved females and boobs. He had been known to admire, as well as had taken a cock or two over his short life. But an alien shapeless, sexless, tentacle, blob that was driven by basic functions like eating and surviving, there was no possible way.
With his mind now settled Eddie answered with, "Yes, I guess. Are you saying you love me like I am your pet?"
Venom looked disappointed at this. Maybe even a little hurt. "No, Eddie. It's ok. I probably just got confused or something. Watched too many shows." As it spoke Venom was already retreating back under Eddie's skin.
Only a small amount remained visible which Venom used to wrap around Eddie's neck. It wasn't until the warmth of Venom started to seep in, that Eddie noticed just how cold his neck had been.
Eddie was going to ask Venom what he meant but the Symbiote cut him off with a "We're almost to the top." Eddie only had enough time to grab his poles and jump off.
The thrill of speeding down the mountain instantly cheered them both up, leaving the conversation behind them both for the time being.
Though there was a chill in the back of Eddie's mind, a creeping feeling that Venom hadn't stopped reading his thoughts until this moment.
And somehow thinking about how Venom had heard those superficial reasons tugged at Eddie's heartstrings making him feel all the more worse about the whole thing.
…
It turned out that Venom did enjoy the snow after all.
The second run down the mountain had been cut short as Venom had sprung forward to feel more of the wind.
It caused them to tip over. But Eddie used the chance to show Venom how to make snow angels and snowballs. Eddie tried to explain what a snowman was but Venom got caught up in thoughts of real people being made of snow so he dropped the topic for now.
The snowballs Venom however understood. And even used it effectively on one of the runs. Eddie had shuffled off into the woods to relieve himself and one of the few skiers on the mountain had followed. Venom had several snowballs made and thrown before Eddie even realized what had happened with a "Be gone Pervert!!"
But the highlight had been the bear on their final run.
The hulkingly big creature had been laying in the snow, most likely enjoying the last of the fading rays of the sun. It took one look at Eddie as he zoomed past and decided the human looked like a tasty meal.
In a way Eddie felt sorry because while the bear saw all the padding in reality Eddie was some muscle but mostly skin and bones. Hardly a meal for even a house-cat.
But he supposed if the bear was hungry enough anything or anyone would be worth easing some of the constant gnawing in its belly.
However this was not how Eddie wanted his life to end.
To die alone. With so much left undone.
And for a few fleeting heartbeats Eddie forgot one important fact as he raced down the mountain side for his life.
Only when he felt the familiar pull from within him as he tipped forward, falling into the top soft layer of snow did he remember.
He wasn't alone.
He was never going to be alone again as long as Venom was at his side.
Eddie watched in awe as Venom spilled from his skin. The tendrils oozed together to form his humanoid form, which towered over the stunned bear. At first the bear stood its ground roaring a challenge to Venom.
But the Symbiote was not swayed in the least. "THIS PIECE OF SHIT IS MINE. GO HUNT SOMETHING ELSE!" Venom growled so loudly that the sound reverberated within Eddie, shaking him to his very core.
The display of the black liquid skin shining in the sunlight and Venom's jaw held open incredibly wide to show off all the rows of sharpened teeth, was enough to dissuade the bear and send it running back the way it came.
Venom waited a few more minutes standing protectively over Eddie still sending off threatening vibes.
Only when the bear had disappeared from sight did Venom calm. He shrank down some and his teeth and stance eased into something almost soft.
Turning to look back at Eddie Venom gave a large grin, the look from earlier back. Eddie knew now that it was love that Venom had within its eyes. "See saving the frail and easy to kill human again." Venom had said proudly.
The words had left Eddie staring while his heart pounded in his chest and his stomach fluttered. He wasn't sure if it was because of Venom moving around inside him or because of his own feelings.
If Eddie was being truly honest with himself he kind of hoped it was because of feelings.
He recalled Venom's earlier words about love. About kinship and affection. How love was doing things for no other reason than to make the other happy. To put their needs above yours.
To protect.
To care for.
Eddie had to ask himself was it really truly a bad thing to fall for Venom?
And as he looked at his alien, Eddie had to admit that no it wasn't.
Loving Venom would be more like loving another part of himself. A being that was separate yet their connection would be more profound than any human couple could ever dream of obtaining.
Sure it would be odd to have someone in his head all the time. But Venom had never judged him unless it was playful banter or to make Eddie realize some sort of truth.
It hit Eddie in that moment that whenever he looked at Venom he felt protected, cared for and more importantly like he was finally home. A feeling that he had never really felt this intense from anyone else before. Not even Annie.
Venom cocked his head looking pleased. "You're so slow sometimes but I still love you Eddie." Venom leaned down wrapping his limbs around him before carefully kissing Eddie on the lips. It wasn't like the kiss while Venom was still inside Annie. That had been more of a frantic fighting for our lives sort of rush.
This was the beginning of something new. Soft with the teasing pressure of Venom's tongue. This was a promise of more to come. A declaration, a vow and a proposal all rolled up into one.
And Eddie let himself go with the flow of it. When Venom pulled away, Eddie let out an embarrassing meow of a whine at the cold that flooded back around him. He wanted more warmth and the feel of Venom around him. "Now let's get back to the cabin. I want cocoa and to snuggle with my new boyfriend." Venom voiced happily.
"What I tell you about reading my thoughts." Eddie grumbled as he got up brushing the snow off. There was no harshness to his words but there was a bit of wobble to his legs and a burning heat in his groin.
Shrinking back down to a few tendrils and a small head Venom swirled around Eddie checking for injuries. "I can't help it Eddie. I am part of all of you. I can't shut it off." Venom whined.
Eddie gathered his poles before pushing off. When Venom put it that way it made Eddie feel bad for all the things he had thought about the other.
"It's ok, my Loser. You can give me extra marshmallows and we will call it even." Venom had suggested so enthusiastically it made Eddie laugh the rest of the way down the mountain.
And of course he did put extra marshmallows as well as chocolate syrup because his partner deserved a treat for a job well done on getting them officially together.
The End
