Vi crossed her arms, leaning back in her seat. “Nice, that sounds like a hard job.”
“Oh it’s going to be sunshine and rainbows,” Ambessa said with a flat tone that couldn’t sound less excited, an extremely sarcastic smile on her face. “An absolute walk in the park. I’m practically sending you on vacation on this hunt to stop a new, dangerous drug from spreading out onto my streets.”
The only thing they have in common is that there’s nothing either of them wanted more than to put high school behind them and never look back. But now that’s the one place they have to work together, bust a drug ring without getting caught, and remember that this isn’t a chance for a do-over.
