Chapter Text
The alarm was blaring incessantly beside Jimin's table, whereas, he cuddles the blanket even more cozily, giving up on his career, life and Kim.
Kim. Tae. Shit.
His eyes snap open with the realisation that today is the day for the award ceremony. He groans, almost giving up again but then the boxy radiant smile of Taehyung floats into his vision and a smile involuntarily forms on his lips.
Morning TaeTae! I wish I could see your pretty face everyday when I woke up.
He groans in his sleepy throaty morning voice, moving and stretching on the bed.
He has really come to doubt his feelings ever since Kookie had asked him to move forward. The strong reluctance he has, to give someone else the importance he has reserved for his TaeTae, makes him almost afraid.
This doesn't make any sense at all!
Finally, convincing himself that it was a stupid conversation to have this early in the morning with his paralyzed brain, he gets down from his bed to freshen up.
After a long hot shower, getting dressed up, having eaten the breakfast, he checks the time.
10:50 AM
"Perfect." He exclaims funnily.
It's engraved in his routine to always be late no matter what. And just like him, it's engraved in Taehyung's routine to throw a sarcastic remark everytime he's late.
And Jimin lives for it!
Drawing out a brown slender box from the drawer, he slides it into his coat, and leaves in his car, driving to the place that completes his day. Whether happy or sad, the office is the most cherished place for Jimin. He gets to be with his most cherished person, his best friend. Fight him. Love him. Adore him. Annoy him.
It's always him and I'm starting to feel like a buffoon. God help me!
________
"Goodmorning sir."
"Morning. Is Mr. Park here?"
"No sir."
Taehyung doesn't spare another glance at Jungkook and proceeds to his office, satisfied with the reply the youngest gave.
After an hour, he finds a familiar figure barge into his office like a tornado.
"The audacity with which you enter into my office without even a knock, it's almost offending and absolutely discourteous."
"Aaish. You are used to it. Why formulate new sentences with extraordinary vocabulary everyday when you know it's never gonna change." Jimin shrugs nonchalantly, enjoying the younger's rant.
Taehyung sighs heavily, shaking his head in dismissal.
"Brat. Okay so you are coming to the ceremony alone?"
"Do I have a choice?"
Taehyung sulks at the fact that he cannot accompany Jimin because the two cherished people in his life don't get along.
"I'm sorry."
"Hey c'mon. I've got a partner tho." Jimin says, carefully observing Taehyung.
Taehyung's brows perk up at this information, eyes demanding him to continue.
"Kookie will come with me."
Jimin feels weirdly satisfied when a deep scowl appears on the younger.
"Mhm. Keep your behaviours in check when in public." He says bitterly.
"Don't worry Taehyunshi. I promise I'll be on my best behaviour." He speaks with an innocent smile as if he doesn't know how the mention of Jungkook triggers Taehyung.
"Now get lost to your office. I've work to do."
And just like that, Taehyung's mood changes into a genuinely annoyed one.
Jimin laughs at the tantrums of the younger.
"I'm not even going to ask what's so funny!" He huffs with a pout.
"Okay relax, I'm not going with Kookie. I've some business with the cafe so I'll tend to it and reach the venue directly." He finally speaks with seriousness.
"Okay. You really can go with Kookie, I honestly don't mind."
"Yes I can totally see that." Jimin rolls his eyes.
"On a serious note, go back to your desk. I've had a pile of documents to go through, so I split it. The other half is with you. We need to complete it before evening."
Jimin nods and was about to leave the office when he remembers something from the morning.
"Umm, Taehyungshi. I've something for you."
"Yeah what is it?"
Jimin slides the box out of his pocket and places in on Taehyung's desk.
"Open it."
The younger eyes the box for a few seconds and then finally opens it to find a glazing, silky deep red tie with his initials KT engraved on it in a beautiful calligraphy with golden threads.
He watches it in awe for a good few minutes before turning to Jimin.
"This is so beautiful Jiminah. Thank-you." He says, ever so softly, and that mixed with his deep baritone voice sounds utterly hypnotizing.
Jimin was about to be lost in the voice but comes back to his senses immediately.
This is not the time, silly.
"I would love it if you wear this for the function today." He says expectantly.
"I will. Rest assured." He gives him an assuring boxy grin.
"I'll get going then."
"Mhm."
________
"Cub, the red tie isn't going well with the blue suit. Just wear some other tie for God's sake." She whines, irritated from her boyfriend's stubborn attitude.
"No, I'll change the suit to some other colour instead. But I won't change the tie." He remains adamant.
"What has gotten into you? What is so special about this goddam tie?"
"I don't know anything. I'm not changing it, that's all."
"You said you'll co-ordinate with me."
"I still am. But I'm not compromising with the tie."
"Do whatever you wish. I'm not doing this anymore." She huffs angrily and leaves into the walk-in closet to get dressed.
Taehyung sighs.
I'm sorry but it's special.
A few seconds later, Tzuyu pops her head out of the closet, not wanting to upset him on this special day.
"Go change into a black suit. The tie will compliment it better."
Taehyung squeals in joy and rushes to hug her.
She laughs as his fingers tickle her half naked form.
"Jeez, cub. Get out. Let me get dressed, or we'll be late." She manages to speak between her giggles.
He gives her a quick peck and rushes out to shuffle from his suits to find something suitable.
