Chapter 1: I like the way your voice sounds

Chapter Text

'I like the way your voice sounds when you say my name in class' Tadashi wrote, then threw the paper in the trash. 'It's just a crush' he thought as he grabbed the Japanese textbook. 'It's just a stupid crush'.

It was the first day of highschool, the first day in a new class with a lot of new people. Tadashi was really nervous and when he was nervous he tended to talk too much and it annoyed Tsukki and- 'Breathe. It'll be fine'. Tadashi scanned the room and the people in it. "Where are you going to sit, Tsukki?" he asked. Tsukishima gestured towards two seats and let his backpack fall on the floor. Tadashi followed his example and sat in front of him, grabbing a notebook and a pen and leaving them on the desk. "Hey, Tsukki? Are you nervous?" "Not really. It's just school" "Yeah, but you'll study here for three years! You'll meet a lot of new people, both here and in the team!" "I don't care about making friends, Yamaguchi. I barely tolerate people most of the time". Tadashi opened his mouth to argue, to say that having friends was important, but the teacher came in. As he stood up and greeted the teacher, he wondered if he too was someone Tsukishima couldn't tolerate.

-------------------------

To get to know each other, the teacher decided to play a game. Everyone had to say their name and the name of the people before them. Obviously it was easier for the first person to play because they had to remember only the teacher's name, so Tadashi found it a bit unfair. Fortunately, though, he was pretty good at remembering names, so he didn't make any mistakes. It was Tsukishima's turn. He started saying their classmates' names, pausing to remember a few. The way he said his name was no different from how he always said it, but it made Tadashi's heart skip a beat. Tadashi liked Tsukishima's voice, he decided. Especially, he liked how Tsukishima said his name.

He was not going to think about it when he got home.
