Summary
Parahumans, people with myriad special powers, are commonplace in this day and age. Most people know, or know of, at least one. The banality of their existence is perhaps part of their greatest tragedy. Despite the appearance of real, living superheroes (and corresponding villains) mankind quickly fell back into their usual disputes over land, resources, and people.
Natalia Alba is one of these heroes, a fifteen year old Tinker taken in by the military under the Parahuman Conscription Act. Sent as part of the coalition presence in Iraq she is partnered with Taylor, a Master with control over all manner of bugs. Together they form Worm Team, a specialist forward observer and reconnaissance party. But war clouds loom, threatening to escalate the relatively low level counter-insurgency they have been flung into. The one reliable link they have is each other.
