Summary
Faramir thinks he knows what he is doing as Steward of Gondor, despite his tender age. He manages to navigate getting most of the results he wants from most people most of the time, after all.
But Faramir is gradually learning that his true father, Aragorn the King, is usually two steps ahead of him. Sometimes, that gives Faramir cause for chagrin. But mostly, he is grateful to have someone who loves him, who can not only keep up with him, but even teach him and guide him.
Aragorn, for his part, finds life ever so much more interesting, fun, and rewarding, now that he has a son to keep up with, collaborate with, tease, and guide. This is true, even when Faramir does typically stupid teenaged things like getting involved in illegal duels along with their mutual friend, Legolas (much to the frustration of Legolas' friend and guardian, Gimli).
Or, in which Aragorn finds that the joys of fatherhood include getting to argue with a teenaged version of himself every day. Fortunately for him, he finds that it’s something he never knew that he always wanted.
