Summary
It would be their eighth year at Hogwarts. Many returned hoping to grasp what was left of the innocence they lost in fighting a war they were too young to fight. Others were forced back. ‘Implicated’ students, or those deemed by the Ministry needing rehabilitation due to their involvement with Voldemort, were thrust back into the castle where they'd be seen as the enemy.
Ron Weasley returned, stumbling through his newfound fame, basking in it at times without abandon, blind to the consequences. It was the spotlight he had coveted for so long but only achieved after the loss of so many, including his brother.
And Hermione Granger labored through her days, doing what she could to shake away the tendrils of despair and apathy that threatened to pull her under.
Until she was betrayed in a way she couldn’t reconcile.
Toujours Pur (Hermione's Version), inspired by the Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do," takes the winding path around that singular moment where the aggrieved sees nothing but red and hungers for revenge. Instead, it gets into the before, during, and after of someone shedding who they once were and becoming who they'll be.
