Conduit

Summary:

Scully gets really riled up from Mulder's flippant, almost dismissive nature to her objections to a case, so she scratches an itch before the fly away.

Work Text:

Scully’s apartment.

Scully paced the area behind her couch with her hands on her hips, careful not to knock the lit cigarette off anything. She didn't even want to smoke it but her instincts kicked in when she came through the door. She knocked her shoes off and just started pacing and her pacing took her into her bedroom. She opened the top drawer, pushed aside her vibrator and snatched the box of cigarettes then lit one quickly, took a puff and got back to pacing.

“Lake Oko-BO-gee,” she mimicked how he said right into her face in the office.

It was bad enough to be dragged into Blevin's office but to have to defend Mulder the whole time she was there and only then to get to Mulder’s office and have him dangle this bullshit case in front of her as if it was the key to unlocking everything in the x-files.

“Okobogee, Oko-fucking-bogee.”

She took another puff of her cigarette and looked at the clock. He had purchased plane tickets for them to fly to Iowa and if she was going to make that plane she had to leave really quickly. She took another puff of the cigarette then hurried into the kitchen to run the tap to douse it then tossed it into the trash.

Her mood wasn't any better except now she smelt like smoke and tasted like an ashtray. She hurried into the bathroom to run the shower then back in her bedroom to put the temptation back into her nightstand. She wondered briefly how often she was going to have to dip into that stash while on assignment to the x-files and decided she would need to think of another vice to calm herself down if it was going to be a common occurrence.

Her hand was on the wooden handle as she slowly closed the drawer but her eyes were fixed on the hot pink vibrator that she hadn't had time to play with in way too long. Quickly, before she could change her mind, she snatched it out of the drawer and hurried into the bathroom leaving a trail of her clothes behind. She tested the water and decided it was warm enough then jumped in and lathered up as quick as she could.

She grabbed the vibe from the shelf and pressed the button on the bottom as she lined it up against her clit, but nothing happened.

“Shit.”

She pressed the button again but it still didn't turn on.

“Fuck!”

She turned away from the water and unscrewed the top only to see no batteries inside. Then in a flash of memory she recalled her ex Ethan taking them out for the remote when he was watching the game and he teased her that she wouldn't need the vibe anymore, he would be her living breathing sex toy.

Scully rolled her eyes and tossed the vibe out onto the bathmat then hurried through the rest of her routine. She hadn't been particularly turned on before, she was more frustrated, aggravated than horny. But an orgasm was a scientifically proven method of achieving zen. And if she needed to be on a three hour flight with Mulder, she wanted as much zen in her back pocket as possible.

She dried off and picked up her clothes as she moved through the apartment and quickly packed her bag. It was becoming increasingly clear that she was going to have to have to have a go bag ready, maybe even leaving it in the office so she could jump when Mulder needed her to but that thought just pissed her off even more. She kicked her clothes aside and the vibe rolled out and hit the leg of the bed.

With a huff she bent down to pick it up then stood still, a moment's hesitation as a thought started to form then tossed it into her luggage before she could talk herself out of it. They had batteries in Iowa she thought to herself with a smirk as she grabbed her bag and ran.

Ronald Regan Airport

“I’m going to grab a coffee, you want something?” Mulder asked as he dropped his briefcase by the seats near the gate.

“Yeah, please. Cream, no sugar.”

“I know how you take your coffee, Scully!” he said with a chuckle over his shoulder as he walked across the concourse to the coffee shop.

Scully sat down and left her own bag by her feet. She had decided not to check it in but now she was lugging it round she wished she had. Then she remembered its contents and her eyes went roaming for a solution. Next to the coffee shop was a newsstand which she knew would have batteries. She watched Mulder inch closer to the top of the coffee queue and willed him to hurry.

Then he smiled at the barista and stepped aside. Scully checked her watch. They had forty minutes before boarding. That was plenty of time. Her body was humming now with the possibilities at the mere thought of what she was about to do and her eyes started to hunt out a location.

The concourse was small but mostly empty. Most people fly into DC in the morning and fly out in the evening. Mid day airport trips were always quiet. But she didn't think she was going to whip out old reliable on the shared seating at any gate on the concourse.

The shower rooms for long haul flights had a charge that she didn't want showing up on her government issued credit card and using the chapel or the prayer room was just beyond the tasteless limit she was willing to cross.

Which left her with only one option. The restrooms. The desire to follow through flagged a little until Mulder came back and handed her a coffee.

“So do you want to go over the casefile?” he asked as he sat down and picked up his briefcase.

“No!” she said a little too loudly and he looked over at her with a surprised look. “I mean, yes, but not right now. I gotta…” She put her coffee on the small shared table between their seats and stood up. “Be right back.”

She grabbed her bag and hefted it on her shoulder and Mulder grabbed the strap.

“You can leave that here with me, I won't let anyone steal it.”

“No, I…it's fine, I’ll take it.” She snatched it back and he frowned at her. “Back in a sec.”

She hurried away but realised as she was walking into the newsagent he would see her. She could see the batteries in the display right under the cashier and knew Mulder would see her picking them up too.

“Fuck it,” she muttered as she got into the queue and the old man in front of her gave her a dirty look. She willed the three people in front of her to hurry up then grabbed a pack of mints, a chocolate bar and the batteries she needed when it was her turn.

“Is that all?”

“Yep.” She dropped the cash on the counter and took the change then hurried away without casting a glance at Mulder.

The bathroom was blessedly quiet and she picked the furthest stall which was larger to accommodate wheelchair users. She hung her bag onto the hook at the back of the door and immediately fished her vibrator out of the main section. She tore open the batteries and put them in the quickly tested them and the toy buzzed to life in her hand.

“Thank you, Jesus,” she muttered as she propped one foot on the edge of the toilet bowl and hiked up her skirt.

There was no finesse in what she was about to attempt, but she wasn't here for finesse. She was here for relief. Relief which was about to be delivered by a quick and dirty orgasm. She planted one hand on the wall and the other guided the buzzing toy to her clit. She didn't relent and instead just stroked it back and forth until she found the slickness she was looking for.

“Yes!” She hissed with delight then moved the head of the toy to her entrance, slipped it in and pressed the button again to amp up the vibration.

Immediately she was rewarded with a tightening of the coil that was poised to snap inside her pussy. Her hand sped up, pulling the toy in and out quicker as she chased the relief she knew she deserved. She was soaring now and ready to fall over the precipice with she heard footsteps coming into the restroom. But she didn't care. There was no stopping this train that was barrelling out of the station. If she pulled the toy out she would only be deflated and disappointed.

She pressed the button once more and hoped the ambient noise in the airport was enough to disguise the sound of her pleasure then clutched a fitful of her own hair as she tipped her head back and emitted a silent scream from her gaping mouth as she exploded from the inside out.

“Okobogee!” She sighed with a sated whisper as she sagged against the stall wall.

The sound of the toilet flushing a couple of stalls away made her laugh and she slipped the toy out from her pussy with a slow stroke as she turned it off. She waited a moment to let her senses come back to normal levels then quickly cleaned up, and wiped her toy with some tissue.

She washed her hands at the sink and combed her fingers through her hair before she gave her reflection a satisfied smile and walked out of the restroom. She tried not to look at anyone as she moved down the concourse, not wanting to see whoever was in the bathroom when she came, and instead beelined for her seat next to Mulder.

“All ok?” he asked and she smiled at him then picked up her now tepid coffee and sipped it.

Right now she didn't care that he was a profiler and could probably see the flush in her cheeks, the unsettled hair she had grabbed at the back of her neck, or the sated glaze she knew was visible in her eyes. Right now she was basking in that relief she had been craving and she was going to be better able to cope with this whole case. It was a public service she had just performed and no one would tell her otherwise.

“What's the name of this place we’re going to again?” she asked.

“Sioux City?”

“No, the place of the alleged abduction?” she asked, unable to keep the teasing lilt from her voice.

“Lake Okobogee.”

“That's the one.”

She sipped her coffee and relished in the slight shudder of orgasmic aftermath she felt from his voice saying that word. That was way better than the murderous urge she had when he said it earlier.

Mulder frowned at her then reached for his case file. “You want to go over the case now?”

“Sure.” She swivelled on her seat a little and crossed her legs to give him her full attention, now that he didn't annoy her as much.
