A whistling sound rang through the open field. Nine figures could barely be seen against the grassy hills. The cloth on their backs blew harshly with the breeze as the group made their way to the looming castle in the distance. There was chatter drifting about, particularly one voice was over-animated. The short sailor was waving his arms about as he jabbered on and on. His voice echoed through the mostly empty hills, the smile could be heard for miles. The salty tang in the air was unmistakable, there's no doubt in the sailors mind that this new Hyrule is set sometime close to his own.
The group of Hero’s swiftly made their way over to the castle, or close up, Castle Town. Wind couldn’t help but run across those weird mine-cart like tracks and jump up onto the platform.
“Wind!” Warriors gave a startled shout, he quickly jogged over with the rest of the group. “Slow down sailor, we don't want to get separated from each other.”
Time nodded, his gaze bore down on the short hero. “Warriors is right, Wind. This is a new Hyrule, we have to stay together.” Wind couldn’t help but let out a small whine as he disappointingly accepted his fate. His gaze drifted as he kept pace with the rest of the group. The town was surprisingly small, looking to hold only a few homes and shops. The group made their way through, Wind observed Twilight staring fondly at the fountain in the center.
“Halt! State your business.” A soldier guarding the castle entrance blocked the way. Time took a step forward, his stature made the guard shrink slightly.
The Old Man’s honey smooth voice spoke, “We’d like to have an audience with the princess, if it ain't any trouble, soldier.” The guard lifted his head up slightly.
“What for?”
“We’ve come to talk about the increase of Black Blooded monsters around the area.”
The soldier’s eyes widened in recognition. He nodded, turning to lead the group in.
Wind felt his face stretch into a grin, he basically skipped his way in behind the heroes. Though it quickly faded as he could feel a burning sensation on his back. The sailor whipped his head around, and saw a lady gasp and duck behind what looked like a shop. That was strange. Now that he mentioned it, Wind could feel many gazes on him as he walked through town. He shrugged, they might just recognize him as the past hero. That thought brought the giddy feeling back into his body, and he quickly caught up with the group.
---
Getting an audience with the princess was apparently pretty easy. The soldiers whispered how it used to be impossible with the old chancellor, but now that he was gone the castle was much more welcoming.
The chain made their way up the stairs to the throne room, and as expected, the princess was seated in said throne. Wind couldn’t hold back his gasp as he looked up and saw none-other than Tetra. Or at least, a glass mural of her. She looked perfect, the sunrise shining through it making Tetra look angelic.
The princess smiled at the armed group of heroes. She hopped off the throne and walked up to Time, holding out her hand to shake. She was barely taller than himself! Time firmly shook her hand, “It’s an honor to meet you, Princess.”
“The pleasure is mine, now,” The princess took a few steps back, observing the chain quickly, her gaze locked with the sailor’s. “Who are you all and how do you know about the Demon-Blooded monsters?”
Wind fidgeted with his hands, not breaking his now staring contest with the Princess. He could feel a soft breeze pass by him as the other heroes turned to look at him. “Uh, I'm Wind.” The sailor stuttered, “The Hero of Winds, Princess.” The princess’ eyes narrowed as she tore her eyes away.
“Come with me.” The order was clear, Wind followed the Princess, the rest of the chain following close behind.
---
The chain all rested in the dining area, Wind was apparently well known here, more importantly, he was this Princess Zelda’s grandfather. The chain chatted in groups. Time was chatting with Twilight and Warriors, Four was with Legend and Hyrule, and Wild was dozing with Sky. Wind was still in the other room, talking with the Princess. It was almost sunset, and the chain had been waiting for them to finish all day.
It was a sudden door opening that caused Legend to jump and swiftly turn around. The sound wasn’t Wind, but a kid coming in through the doors. The short hylian bore an engineer uniform, yet he held the form of a soldier. Legend narrowed his eyes as the engineer’s eyes met his own.
The calculated gaze of the engineer darted to Legend, then across to the rest of the Chain. He spoke suddenly, the rough but youthful voice startling the rest of the heroes. “Where’s Princess Zelda?”
Legend rolled his eyes. “She’s been in that room with our sailor for the whole day, if you want to try your luck with them, go right ahead.” Legend watched the kid quickly turn to the door, eyes widening as he swiveled his head back to Legend, then back to the door. He huffed, wiping his hands on his tunic as he stiffly walked to the door. Before the engineer could reach the door, however, it opened wide.
The princess graced a wide smile, joking with the other figure. Wind laughed, stopping short right before he was about to run into the engineer. Wind’s eyes widened as he stared at his own face. He heard the princess gasp beside him. “Link! You’ve finally arrived!”
Wind and Link stared at each other, both eyes wide as they stood frozen in front of each other. Wind could audibly hear the rest of the Chain perk up, but all the sailor could focus on was how similar this boy looked to himself.
“You're.. The Hero of Winds..” The boy squeaks out, taking a step back and wrapping his arms around himself.
Wind felt his cheeks stretch into a soft smile, a hand was dragged from his side as he held it out to the boy. “Nice to meet ya’.”
