Ámbar's diary

Summary:

Ámbar writes in a diary from the moment she learns how to write until she is almost 20.
Follow her life through small diary entries. Watch her grow up and observe the world, and learn things about herself and others.

(Every chapter is around 300-500 words)

Chapter 1: Six years old

Notes:

As Ámbar is currently six years old, the grammar is also more based on how a six year old would write. I imagine Ámbar being so proud she knows how to use big letters for names. But she has not learned commas yet.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Dear Diary

My name is Ámbar Smith. School said when you start a new sentence and when you write your first name and last name it should be big letters.

I am six years old and I got this diary for my birthday. I also got pencils dolls a dollhouse a mirror a hairbrush roller skates and many dresses. I played with the dollhouse all day and let my new dolls who are too big for the dollhouse sleep with me in my bed so they could feel welcomed in my house. But then they had to sleep on the shelf with my old dolls. My new dolls I named Bloom Flora and Musa. I love Winx Club but every time I watch it on TV my godmother says it is too loud. She thinks everything is too loud. I think she has super hearing that makes everything louder.

I tried on roller skates I got for my birthday. My friend Agus held my hand. I was nervous but it went ok. I think I love roller skating. I saw on TV you can compete. I want to compete with roller skates. My godmother said I could compete if I knew I would win. I told her I would win but I needed to practice.

Since you are a diary you need to keep my secrets. I have a secret. Promise to not tell anyone.

My godmother is actually my mother. She adopted me when I was very little. She says to protect me from bad people I need to tell everyone she is my godmother and that my parents are working far away so that is why I live with her. I do what she tells me always because she is in charge. I want to be in charge too when I grow up. I am already the boss of my dolls. If a doll has been nice they can sleep with me in my bed but if they have been bad then I will let them sleep in my closet as punishment.

I lost a tooth today. I don't think the tooth fairy exists so I threw it in the trash. My godmother said that was good because no one wants to see my dropped teeth.

Tonight I will let a doll sleep in my bed. I have named her Sol. My godmother shivers when she hears that name so I have to whisper it when I talk to the doll. Sol is a very special doll and when I talk to her I feel like there is a spirit in my room. I think that is Sols mom who protects her and I tell her I will take good care of her. Sol's mom is very nice and sometimes watches me sleep. I feel safe. That's why I am sleeping with Sol tonight so that her mom will be there.

Notes:

Agus may or may not be Tomas' cousin from Violetta, because I realized that if SL starts the year it came out (2016) and Agus is 12 in 2012, then she and Ámbar would be more or less the same age. Though I think Ámbar stopped being friends with her later.
