“... John. Your actions don’t matter at all… And they probably won’t affect the future of our universe…. But that doesn’t mean you should just resign yourself to that thinking. It may not affect the people a thousand years from now, but your actions affect the people here and now. Who cares about a long lasting legacy, when you should only think of the present. Because the people in the present will only get to know one thing about you that those in the future can only speculate who you are. Your emotions, your thoughts, your loving embrace. Only the people now can actually experience the gift you bring to them. And if you only think about the future, you’re depriving the gift that is you. So, live your life to the fullest in the now, and give the people in the now your best. Because those people in the future can only wish to meet you in the past. Does that make sense?”
“Not really, Mom… Just kind of sounds like you’re spouting out random stuff.”
“Well, admittedly, I kind of was…”
“But… I think I kind of get what you’re saying. I shouldn’t care about a future that I’ll never see, but cherish the present to the fullest.”
“So, what do you think now?”
“… I want to make sure that the people I care for have the most wonderful life, and I’ll give it my all to make sure of it, no matter the price!”
