Sansa:
“I wanted to go on the Ultimatum because I’ve been dating Joffrey for six years now and he hasn’t proposed. I was the one to issue the Ultimatum. I mean, it’s been six years, right? We started dating halfway through my freshman year of college - he was a sophomore - and now we’re both out of school, we have jobs, it’s time.”
Joffrey:
“Well she wanted to come on the show, I just agreed to make her happy. Hey, does my hair look okay from that angle?”
“Why haven’t you proposed after six years of dating?”
“Why should I? I’m only 25. What if I still meet someone better?”
“Why are you still together then?”
“Well you’ve seen her. She’s hot. And I mean, she’s alright. She’ll usually do what I want to do.”
Jon:
“I decided to apply for The Ultimatum because marriage and family are really important to me. I was raised by a single mom, no siblings, and so I never really had that growing up. I love Ygritte and I’m ready to move forward. I want to commit. I want a home, a family. We’re both 28, we’ve got stable jobs now, so I feel like she’s just finding excuses now because she’s scared.”
Ygritte:
“I mean, it’s kind of ridiculous, but whatever. So yeah, I told him that I’d do it. I think he’s getting worked up over nothing, but he gets that way. He can be really emotional sometimes.”
“Do you want to get married?”
“Fuck no.”
“Not to Jon, or not ever?”
“Not ever. I mean, it’s not personal. Sorry, Jon. It’s really not. It’s just a stupid thing for stupid girls who need to feel validated by someone with a dick. Fuck that shit.”
Gendry:
“I issued an Ultimatum because I really want to marry my girlfriend Arya. I think maybe she’s worried about how it looks because she’s still young, but it shouldn’t be about what other people think. It should be about us, and what we want. Which is funny, because normally she never cares at all what other people think. But we’ve known each other a long time and we were friends first. I think we have a really strong foundation to go the distance.”
Arya:
“I agreed to come on the show because Gendry asked. I do love him. He’s great. I just don’t want to get married. Not yet for sure. Do I ever want to get married? I don’t know. I mean the whole institution is a remnant of an era of female repression but I suppose there are some practical benefits to taxes and stuff…”
Margaery:
“I joined the cast of The Ultimatum because I have been with Renly for four years. I thought when we moved in together two years ago that he would propose soon after that, but it still hasn’t happened and I’m worried that he’s just too used to the status quo and nothing will ever change if I don’t do something to push him.”
Renly:
“Of course I agreed when Margie asked me to join her on the show. I absolutely love her and would do anything for her.”
“But you haven’t proposed.”
“Well, yeah. I honestly couldn’t give you a reason for that. I’m not sure what it is that’s holding me back. Hopefully this experience will help me understand that. Because I do love her. She’s such an amazing, sweet girl and we have such a great time together. I can’t imagine being with anyone else.”
