The shorter of the pair is practically radiant with confidence, hoping that her size and nonthreatening demeanor will offset the objective creepiness of her actions. Unfortunately, these efforts are to no avail: the woman she’s been following for the last four blocks looks just as disturbed by her stalker’s sudden outcry as anyone in that situation would be. She turns around cautiously, as if expecting to be attacked, and keeps her arms folded defensively across the front of her maroon redingote as she studies the presumptuous little bastard before her.

Freshman year was shit for Catra. She didn't have any friends, her old dorm sucked, and her lab partner treated her like trash. She tried to do better over the summer, but she still feels like she's an inch from falling apart, and she can't get over the girl she fell in love with who doesn't even notice her any more.
Adora hopes that this year, things go her way. She's still dealing with the aftermaths of an accident that left her partially disabled, she can't pursue her dreams of being an athlete any more, and she's terrified that the horrible girl from physics will still be around this year. Also, her best friend keeps forcing her to go on horrific dates with random guys from Tinder. Ugh.
The brightest spot in both of their lives is the relationship they have with each other online, even though they don't know each others names. When the two of them end up as housemates in the on-campus apartments, things change irrevocably for everyone involved. It gets even worse when they discover how much they hate each other and how they have almost every class together this semester.

Chucking driftwood into the heavy waves, they watch as it rises back up.
"Sure as hell does. I'll fight for you. But floating in it is for losers; in a place where we sink or swim, I know you're strong."

She would do all that and more and Eddie would let her, because he was a coward, because he was weak, because he hated how cold she got with him when he refused to listen to her. Eddie would let her because a small part of him would think what if she's right even when he knew it was all just bullshit, and that torturous phrase would stick and wheedle its way into his brain like the very parasites he'd spent all afternoon trying to avoid.

A very self indulgent script formatted series written by two teen authors, Star (a schizophrenic black person who also has AUDHD) and Feathers (a Filipino) because we wanted to see more stories that included people we usually don’t see in media.
An example is Serena, the main character, who has paranoid schizophrenia. When people think of schizophrenia, they tend to imagine somebody violent or dangerous, which is often far from the truth. Serena is kind, brave, and compassionate, and while her disorder impacts her in a stressful environment, she isn't alone. There's no violent voices in her head or demons possessing her. She is not defined by her condition, and if you have schizophrenia or similar disorders, neither are you. - Star
