Chapter Text
Kim Dokja looked at Yoo Joonghyuk as he walked into the dentist’s office, said man perking up at the sight of him. Kim Dokja immediately dissolved into a fit of giggles after greeting the woman who worked there, making the other man make a disgruntled noise before plopping back down into his seat.
Yoo Joonghyuk looked stupid, his wavy hair tousled; sticking up in odd places– far from the usual way it was styled– and his cheeks stuffed with gauze; muffling the incessant groans of pain he let out.
A horrible feeling bubbled in his chest, one that he was all too familiar with. Kim Dokja still found Yoo Joonghyuk cute. He immediately stomped down those thoughts, moving to take a seat beside Yoo Joonghyuk.
They’d have to wait a while before they could leave as the assistant had to finalize paperwork– or whatever she had to do before they could leave , Kim Dokja wasn’t so sure.
“Yoo Joonghyuk.” Kim Dokja gently called out, barely managing to stifle his laughter. He was there to pick the other man up as Yoo Joonghyuk wouldn’t be able to drive under the anesthetics– just being done with his surgery.
At the sound of his literal name , Yoo Joonghyuk’s expression only darkened further. Though, it was less threatening now with his swollen cheeks, mouth unable to close into his usual frown. “Don’t call me that.” His words slurred together, nearly incomprehensible.
Kim Dokja looked thoroughly amused, tilting his head to the side. “Your name ?”
“Joonghyuk-ah. You always call me that.” Yoo Joonghyuk, the nearly twenty-year-old man, whined before looking up at Kim Dokja with worried eyes. “Wait. Do you hate me now? Is that why you’re calling me Yoo Joonghyuk?”
Kim Dokja let out a soft laugh at the unusually talkative man, shaking his head. “No. I don’t hate you, Joonghyuk-ah.”
Yoo Joonghyuk visibly relaxed at the name, hand clumsily trying to reach for Kim Dokja’s own. Kim Dokja wordlessly intertwined their hands, squeezing the other man’s hand in a reassuring manner.
Yoo Joonghyuk looked at him, letting out a quiet gasp. “My boyfriend is so pretty.” He gently ran his thumb over the back of Kim Dokja’s hand, unable to comprehend the utter shock and mortification on Kim Dokja’s face.
Kim Dokja blinked once, then twice, letting out a choked sound. “Sorry- What .” His voice cracked as he said the words, in absolute disbelief . He looked around the room, as if waiting for someone to pop out and say it was all a joke. To his disappointment, he only found the lady typing in random details with a knowing smile.
It’s not what it looks like , he desperately wanted to say. Though, he’s sure it wouldn't help their case. He looked back down at Yoo Joonghyuk, the other man looking up at him with a stupid smile on his face.
“ We’re-” Kim Dokja choked on his words, still in shock from the other man’s words. “Joonghyuk-ah, we’re not together.” His traitorous heart racing at being called Yoo Joonghyuk’s boyfriend . From the man himself, no less.
Yoo Joonghyuk made a noise of disagreement, shaking his head. “Yes we are. Stop being an idiot.” He let go of Kim Dokja’s hand, hand reaching up to cup Kim Dokja’s cheek. “My boyfriend. My pretty, handsome, sexy -”
“ Enough .” Kim Dokja quickly cut Yoo Joonghyuk off before he could continue. This was embarrassing. He batted Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand away, prompting Yoo Joonghyuk to make another sound of discontent.
“ Dokja-ya .”
Kim Dokja let out a strangled noise at the sound of the nickname, jaw hanging wide open, clearly not used to it. Yoo Joonghyuk reached out for his hand once again, eyebrows furrowing once he’d been denied.
“Do you not like that?” Yoo Joonghyuk looked like a kicked puppy, looking up at Kim Dokja with pleading eyes. “ Baby -”
Absolutely not. Kim Dokja immediately shushed the other man, stopping Yoo Joonghyuk from going any further with that, sparing himself the embarrassment.
As if sensing his mortification, the Dentist stepped in, handing Kim Dokja a stack of papers. She quickly told him that he’d have to pick up prescribed medication from the pharmacy and rambled on about a list of at-home-care directions.
After 15 minutes of being cleaned up, the Dental assistants offered to wheel Yoo Joonghyuk to Kim Dokja’s car, but he eventually declined the offer, wanting to walk.
Once he picked up the prescribed antibiotics, they made their way to Yoo Joonghyuk’s apartment, the other man thankfully hadn’t tried anything else, being too tired to cause anymore trouble. Kim Dokja quickly pulled into the parking lot, getting out of the car once he had found a spot.
He helped Yoo Joonghyuk out, the other man letting out a groan as he stumbled out of the car. The only thing stopping him from meeting the ground was falling directly onto Kim Dokja, making him let out a quiet yell as he struggled to hold the both of them up.
Kim Dokja let out a huff of exasperation, practically dragging the large man into the lobby. “Yoo Joonghyuk, walk properly.” He panted, cursing his lack of athleticism. “I physically can’t carry you like this.”
He heard Yoo Joonghyuk let out a muffled sound of displeasure– face buried in the back of Kim Dokja’s neck, hot breath making Kim Dokja shudder ever so slightly– yet, he eventually relented, shifting his weight off of the smaller man. Though, his arms stayed wrapped firmly around his waist, making Kim Dokja’s mind wander somewhere he didn’t want it to.
Once they’d made it inside, Kim Dokja laid Yoo Joonghyuk onto the couch. He stood there, attempting to catch his breath. A minute or so passed before Yoo Joonghyuk, the brat , had begun to whine once again; arms reaching over to grab Kim Dokja with a determined look on his face, not allowing him even a moment of peace.
Kim Dokja let out a sigh of disbelief, swatting the other man’s clingy hands away, earning himself a childish pout. “Joonghyuk-ah, stop that .”
Yoo Joonghyuk crossed his arms, glaring. “I just want my boyfriend. Is that wrong ?” Unbelievable . Yoo Joonghyuk was truly nothing but a brat.
“Stop with that as well.” Kim Dokja shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. “For the last time, we’re not together. You’re just out of it.”
He took a seat beside Yoo Joonghyuk, which was the wrong move, seeing as the other man practically forced himself into Kim Dokja’s lap like an oversized cat, having the nerve to let out a content sigh as he laid on the smaller man’s lap. “Get off of me.”
Yoo Joonghyuk simply ignored Kim Dokja, reaching out to intertwine their hands once again. “I’m not out of it, see?” He looked up at him with a dopey grin on his face, only proving Kim Dokja’s point right. It was awful that he still somehow found Yoo Joonghyuk adorable, even in such a state.
He closed his eyes, resting his head onto the couch cushion, choosing to ignore Yoo Joonghyuk instead. He didn’t even want to bother with arguing with Yoo Joonghyuk, he already knew how stubborn the other man could get. Thankfully, Yoo Mia was over at her friend’s house, staying there until Yoo Joonghyuk had completely recovered.
He didn’t want to take care of two children.
Kim Dokja felt a finger poking at his cheek, opening his eyes to find a frowning Yoo Joonghyuk. “Dokja-ya.” He dramatically pressed his finger to his lip, obviously overexaggerating. “My lips hurt.”
He simply raised an eyebrow, to say he was unimpressed by the act was an understatement. “What do you want me to do about it?”
“Kiss it better.”
Kim Dokja blinked down at Yoo Joonghyuk, completely in shock, trying to push down the blush that was most definitely creeping onto his face. The worst part was, Yoo Joonghyuk looked serious . What the fuck. Yoo Joonghyuk noticed the lack of response and attempted to wink, which honestly just looked like his eyelid was weirdly spasming. Kim Dokja would have laughed if it weren't directed towards him.
Though, he would’ve hated it if it was.
“I can’t- I can’t do that.” Kim Dokja hated how he hesitated to speak, as well as the heat slowly creeping onto his cheeks. He laughed nervously, attempting to brush the other man off. “Just go to sleep, aren’t you tired?”
“No. I don’t want that. I want you. ” The way Yoo Joonghyuk said it with such adoration made Kim Dokja feel weak, nearly believing his words. He desperately wished that they were real, knowing that the other man only said them because he was delirious, knowing that Yoo Joonghyuk would regret his words once he was conscious enough. “Why won’t you kiss me? Do you hate me?”
It’s the other way around. “It’s not that. You’re not in the right mind and-” He looked down at Yoo Joonghyuk, his face morphing into a slight grimace as he looked at the gauze damp with blood and saliva. “Your mouth is all..” He vaguely gestured with his hand, face scrunching up.
Yoo Joonghyuk sighed, letting the matter go. He frowned, fidgeting with the collar of Kim Dokja’s shirt. Kim Dokja let out a sigh of relief, thinking he’d finally given up.
Yoo Joonghyuk, the stubborn man that he was, opened his mouth to speak once again. “Then..” He paused for a moment, thinking, before pointing to his cheek. “Here. Kiss me on the cheek.”
Kim Dokja let out a huff of exasperation, shaking his head. He looked down at Yoo Joonghyuk– who was looking at him with sad, pleading eyes– considering his options. If he gave into Yoo Joonghyuk’s pleads, he’d finally shut up. Plus the other man probably wouldn’t even remember it.
He leaned down, pressing a chaste kiss to where Yoo Joonghyuk had pointed, the other man visibly lighting up. Just as Kim Dokja pulled away, Yoo Joonghyuk let out another whine.
“I want more.”
Well, shit. Yoo Joonghyuk was a selfish, selfish man. Kim Dokja should’ve known it wouldn’t have been that easy. “No.” He bit his bottom lip, turning away from the other man.
Yoo Joonghyuk let out an annoyed sigh, as if he wasn’t the one being spoiled. “Stop being so stingy .”
“Stop being a brat.” Kim Dokja frowned, raising an eyebrow.
Yoo Joonghyuk brought Kim Dokja’s hand to his cheek “ Dokja-ya .”
“Baby.”
“Dear.”
“Love .”
“Oh my god- ” He felt mortified, a wave of shame washing over him, flushing a bright red. “Fine. Just- Shut up.” He glared at Yoo Joonghyuk who had a smug grin on his face, knowing that he’d won. “Last one.”
Yoo Joonghyuk opened his mouth to complain, immediately closing it after seeing the stern look on Kim Dokja’s face, solemnly nodding.
Kim Dokja pressed another kiss on Yoo Joonghyuk’s cheek, letting out a soft, breathless laugh as he looked at Yoo Joonghyuk’s satisfied expression. “Bastard.”
Yoo Joonghyuk yawned, sleepily nodding, his head lolling off to the side. “Your bastard.”
Kim Dokja sighed, relieved that he could finally rest. He stared down at Yoo Joonghyuk’s sleeping figure, biting back a smile as he flicked the man’s forehead, amused at how his brows furrowed in his sleep.
Fuck. Kim Dokja was screwed.
