“In the lake having a breath-holding contest with Sungchul, last I saw him,” Aster says. “Might be dead.”
“My condolences,” Jesse says.
“I’ll fish him out later.” Aster takes on the look of an ambitious red-cheeked cat, evaluating a particularly high jump. ‘
- ‘ "Hey, do you know a guy named Terrell?" A girl with braided hair, pink and blue like cotton candy, sidles up next to Nicholas at the foosball table and asks this.
"Uh." Nicholas racks his brain, distracted from lining up his shot. "No?"
"Marcus said he knows him. Why?" Jesse asks, fiddling with the knobs.
"Oh, he's outside and like, drowning I think." The girl tosses back the rest of her drink, then fixes the two with a serious stare.
"Shit." Nicholas makes a beeline for the sliding doors and yanks them open, stepping out onto the deck. ‘
- ‘ "Who's we?" Nicholas asks.
"Ah, I hope you don't mind. I took the liberty of inviting Seiji."
As if on cue, one of the bobbing heads in the water looks up and tosses its sopping black hair. Is that… is that a mole beneath his eye? Is that Seiji?
He starts emerging from the water, and it slips off him like a bedsheet, pale neck and deltoids and shoulders slowly revealed, followed by…
Oh my god. Since when does his chest look like that? His nipples are hard from the cool water, and he's glistening…
Did Seiji get hot in France?
Jesse looks over his shoulder at Nicholas, looking equally gobsmacked. That boy can't possibly be the same chubby-faced, cute little prodigy that they fenced with years ago. Can he?
Seiji raises his hand to his brow, shielding his eyes from the sun. He's stopped halfway out of the water, and he's looking between the two brothers, his expression unreadable. ‘

as of this moment when i am editing this bookmark, ao3 history tells me that i have read chapter 1 of double touch 50 times. personally, i think they may have missed a few clicks and the count could possibly be higher. but you may ask, if i've truly read it 50 times, then how come i don't have it memorized? how am i still finding interest in that? to which the answer is: every time i read it, it feels like the first time. and some may say that this is what love feels like.
