"Alex! We're out of blood, I can't find any in the fridge!"
Alex leaned off the couch, golden eyes still glued to the television. Had they seen this episode 6 times? Yeah. Were they going to risk missing the BEST PART? No.
"I know," Alex waved it off, "I haven't been out since the extended director's cut dropped. And I'm not moving until I'm done, so." Alex popped a few pieces of popcorn into their mouth. The music swelled. He was running after her in the rain, about to finally confess his love, and---
And Morgan came to stand right in front of the TV set, blocking the entire screen.
"Hey, what the fuck?" Alex threw some popcorn but it just bounced off Morgan's chest.
"You can get more blood with a thought. You don't even have to stand."
Alex huffed. "Where is the fun in that? Where's the skill? That's like asking me to go heist something for you. This isn't grocery shopping Morgan, it's my hobby. My passion. Or it is when I'm not in the middle of something. If you want blood, go find someone to bite."
Morgan rolled their eyes. "Alex, I can't go bite some random person on the street. What if I kill them on accident?"
Alex sighed and set the popcorn aside. "Look, you're a vampire now, and you need to figure out how to do this yourself, at least until Ohio reverses it. It's gonna be risky not matter who you pick, so grab someone off the street and let loose a bit. Maybe you'll actually have fun! Can you imagine murdering together with you as a vampire? That would be so cool!"
Morgan had stopped paying attention. They muttered something under their breath, but it was too jumbled to hear. Morgan was grinding something out; Alex had seen the look enough times to worry.
"What was that?" Alex asked.
Morgan's attention snapped back to Alex. "It's not always a risk. I have you."
Alex blinked. "What?"
"There's no chance I could kill you. Just turn off your invincibility."
Alex took a deep breath and resisted the urge to rub their temples. "So let me get this straight. Rather than using your new vampire powers to learn to hunt, you want to drink me. Like a juice box." Alex said they wished Morgan took advantage of them more often, but this really isn't what they had meant.
Morgan started backpedaling immediately. "I mean, when you say it like that it sounds actually really bad, and I know that, like I get where you are coming from for sure, and obviously not if you're like, uncomfortable with that ?"
Alex snapped, and they felt their shields drop. Morgan just stood there and gaped at them.
"Wait, really ?" Alex slowly rolled back one sleeve up to the elbow, and extended it out towards a shell-shocked Morgan. The only noise in the room was the quiet murmur of the TV. The whole point was they didn't want their show interrupted. If Morgan made that impossible, they were going to follow through. When Morgan made no move to come closer Alex raised their eyebrow, a challenge.
"Oh, this is a fight. I suggested it and now if I back out its gonna be a thing isn't it?"
"Yu-p."
Alex waited.
"Fine then! Just, uh, just stay there, let me just..."
Morgan knelt in front of Alex, and the insides of their knees brushed Morgan's body. All of Alex's confidence from before threatened to evaporate. Alex had super senses, and they weren't new to that territory. But when Morgan got so close, they could smell the cheap gas station coffee, see the small smudge of ink on their cheek from their morning diagramless . It laid out all the little things that made up Morgan in so much detail. It was always hard having Morgan so close, but being able to categorize what they tasted like? Knowing what it felt like when Morgan's hands tightened in their coat, remembering how their mouths had crashed together ? That made it torture. Ever since that stakeout Alex fought daily not to put their hands on Morgan too much. Morgan didn't even seem to notice.
They were too busy looking at Alex's arm like it was gonna bite them instead. Morgan brought it towards their mouth, and Alex willed themselves to be at least kind of normal about this .
"And you're sure? It could be gross, I've never tried drinking straight from a person."
Alex laughed, but it sounded strangled. "You act like this is my first vampire bite."
That was, apparently , the wrong thing to say. Morgan's warm brown eyes melted to the deep red that's normal for vampires. A chill ran up Alex's spine. The grip on Alex's wrist tightened. They could hear the very slight sound of Morgan's teeth grinding. "Why would you let another vampire bite you?"
Alex didn't miss the phrasing. Not any vampire, another vampire. A vampire that's not Morgan. Morgan was possessive, but not usually over Alex, and Alex felt themselves flush. They hoped it didn't show.
It's the blood they want, not you. Focus.
"I don't know," Alex shrugged, going for casual and just missing. Morgan was warm, even as a vampire. Alex's wrist burned. "I wanted to see what happened. You don't run into many these days, I was curious."
"And?"
Morgan's voice strained. Alex had the sudden feeling they were edging towards danger instead of away from it.
"It was fine." It wasn't a lie. Every movie and book made it seem like vampire bites were this big intimate moment, but it had felt incredibly lackluster . The bite had felt like a bite, and then Alex had ripped her head off. Done and done. "Thought it would more of a thing, I guess, but it wasn't."
"And this other vampire," Morgan pressed, "did you kill them, after?"
Alex searched Morgan's face. Morgan knows Alex wouldn't hurt them, right?
"Yeah, but I wou--"
"Good."
The bloodlust contained in that one word was enough to send Alex reeling. Morgan growled before jerking Alex forward and clamping their mouth over Alex's wrist.
Everything after was a blur. The sudden weight of Morgan's body overwhelmed Alex as they pressed further into the space . Like the space wasn't even Alex's at all, like Alex was borrowing it from Morgan and they had come to remind them. Morgan's teeth pressed against the skin, willing for it to give way, and Morgan drew Alex into the warmth of their orbit .
Oh, this was a bad idea.
They were sure it was all over their face, how much Alex wanted them. Morgan had likely seen it long ago, had chosen to ignore it, but Alex didn't care. They were far past caring about whether Morgan wanted them back. Alex would give Morgan blood and bones and every scrap of their heart; all they had to do was ask.
Morgan finally bit with enough pressure, the fangs passing through and opening the artery . It hurt as much as Alex expected, but what Alex didn't expect Morgan's reaction. Morgan drank blood like it was a half-decent cup of coffee when it was out of the fridge. Out of Alex? Morgan let out a drawn out noise that vibrated against Alex's arm as their eyes slid closed. Without even deciding to, Alex threaded their free hand through Morgan's hair. It was getting a bit long, and Alex scratched lightly against Morgan's scalp with their nails. Morgan leaned into the touch and bit down harder, and Alex felt a tingling sensation start to spread from the wound. It wasn't bad. It was already far better than the last bite had been. With Morgan it felt consumptive, yes, but it also made Alex feel strangely content. The warmth moving through the muscle reminded Alex of coming inside after a long winter walk, or the first sip of whiskey after a frustrating day . Even if the vampirism is temporary, its a feeling Alex could get used to. One they wanted to get used to.
That thought, that reminder that Morgan wasn't theirs, clanged through Alex. Morgan hummed against the skin before moving to another spot, this bite going someplace deeper than before . Alex could feel the increase in pressure as the wound opened even wider. Their arm was already painted a dark red, and it ran out the corners of Morgan's mouth every time they shifted. Alex hoped it stained the blanket, the couch, their clothes, everything it touched. Alex wanted to repaint the whole apartment that way.
Morgan retracted their fangs, and when they sat back the reds and browns of their eyes were completely swallowed by black . Morgan, sitting in a ruined shirt, bloody and feral looking, knocked the wind out of Alex. Beautiful . They still gripped Alex's wrist, and they ran their tongue over the wound trying to clean the last bits of red from the skin . They only made more of a mess. If it kept Morgan distracted Alex didn't mind. Alex's breathing was uneven; they felt like they had run a marathon with no powers at all. Maybe vampire bites did have some kick to them.
Alex thought that would be the end of it, the stolen moment of intimacy gone as soon as it came. They mentally prepared for the loss of that warmth, and the simmering heat around the edges. It would be back to the next plan or scheme, and Alex would have to move on like nothing happened. Morgan really wanted to steal the new ruby tiara from the museum, and they wanted to call their crew about it today, and—
And Morgan didn't let go of Alex.
They started mouthing upward, dragging teeth up the trail of Alex's arm, branding every place they touched. They weren't even biting anymore. Morgan left a messy red trail from wrist to shoulder, all the while just tasting Alex. They were driving Alex's heart rate through the roof, running their tongue and lips along every bit of skin they could reach. Like the taste of Alex was something worth savoring. By the time Morgan got to their neck, Alex was shaking with the restraint it took not to touch. They wanted to lace their free hand into Morgan's hair, pull them up and claim them. Wanted to suck that tongue into their mouth, wanted to see what noises Morgan would make. But Alex was afraid any movement might break whatever spell had been cast over the two of them.
"Alex" Morgan rasped right into their ear, and one of their hands slid up into Alex's hair. "Alex, I—"
"You can have it." Have me. "Yes."
Morgan didn't hesitate this time, sinking their teeth into the flesh and pulling so hard it made Alex's world blur . If the wrist bite had been a warmth bath, the neck bite felt like stepping into a hot shower. The blood ran strong there, and Morgan chased it up and into Alex's lap, straddling them for better access. Alex's hands hovered before gripping Morgan's hips, the desire to be even closer overriding the rational part of their brain . The part that whispered things like just friends and risky . Morgan was important, the most precious thing in their life, and Alex had a bad habit of breaking things on accident . Alex knew that Morgan was strong, but Alex was clumsy, even with the things they loved.
Morgan gently guided Alex's head all the way back as they fed, and licked a messy red stripe along the muscle. Alex swallowed hard before Morgan dived back in for more blood, more of Alex. Alex wanted that mouth everywhere, wanted to feel it on every inch of skin. The thought made Alex bite down on their own lip, feeling the sharp sting of biting a little harder than planned. They didn't heal it; they needed something to ground them, if only a bit. Things were still going a little fuzzy around the edges despite Alex's best efforts.
Somewhere in the back of Alex's mind they registered a ripping sound, but they quickly forgot it. Morgan just kept drinking, and the continued blood loss made Alex feel floaty, detached, almost drunk . They were playing near the edge of a cliff. The world had narrowed to Morgan's teeth in their neck, their lips on their skin, the encroaching dark, and warmth and sensation and blood, and for a while nothing else could matter . A meteor could've hit the earth and Alex wouldn't have noticed.
And Morgan was greedy. Alex had always known that, and of course that extended to this. They left bite after bite, each time going for more blood, wider arteries, better pressure. Alex heard every one, the unmistakable wet sounds of punctured skin. Morgan was eating them alive. Alex just drifted, letting Morgan take whatever they wanted. It was all theirs anyway. No one else would've stood a chance. Morgan would have killed anyone else, would've left them a mangled mess of bone and sinew. The thought made Alex release a sound they would've been embarrassed of under different circumstances . It came out low and drawn and wanton, and Morgan pulled off just long enough to growl one word:
" Mine ."
Fuck.
Bloodlust swam in Morgan's eyes, and their messy hair had blood drying on the ends, matting it together. Alex pushed a strand of it back, and Morgan leaned into it like it was second nature. They knew Morgan was a physical person; they would often hug Alex from behind when they were cooking, or tuck into their side during movie nights . What Alex wouldn't admit was that they were as touch starved as Morgan was.
A large drop of blood squeezed its way out of the corner of Morgan's mouth, and Alex used their thumb to wipe it away, smearing it . Morgan grabbed their wrist and pulled the finger, with the majority of the blood, right into their mouth and sucked .
Alex was going to die. Morgan was going to actually kill them.
"Morgan?" Alex's voice sounded like they just gargled with gravel. Morgan didn't answer. They were using their free hand to make circles on the exposed skin of Alex's shoulder, where the fabric had tore away. The skin was slow to heal, and so sensitive, and it made it so hard to focus. Morgan dropped a kiss onto Alex's palm and then released it, a small act of intimacy, but it made Alex want to cry. Alex was hyper aware that their hand was still on Morgan's hip, that just friends was now a spot in the far distance.
"Morgan?" Alex asked again. The rest of the world felt so far away. Alex wasn't even sure what they were asking for. One of Morgan's thumbs brushed along their lower lip, and Alex felt the scab they had chosen not to heal reopen. Morgan licked their lips, and Alex didn't even try to hide how their eyes followed the movement.
If the last few minutes went by in a flash, the next five seconds lasted an eternity. Morgan leaned in, and Alex forgot how to breathe. Breathing felt like a useless activity, just then.
This time, instead of stale coffee and takeout, Morgan tasted like old iron and sunlight. All the best things in life. Love and slaughter.
Alex put as much of their heart into the kiss as they could stand to lose. In case it was residual from the blood drinking, in case Morgan didn't really want them. Because Alex wanted everything, and they couldn't hear Morgan wanted nothing again. When Morgan had kissed them on the stakeout, a lifetime ago, it had been nothing, to Morgan at least. It had been a rushed thing, something that Morgan needed as a cover from prying eyes, and it had changed Alex's world overnight .
This time Morgan kissed them with the same single-minded focus they brought to everything they do, methodical and thorough . Morgan bit down, opening the wound further, and pulled Alex's bottom lip between their own. Heat curled against Alex's spine as they moved their mouth against Morgan's. The feeling of teeth scraping against the wound, of bits of tongue slipping through to taste was maddening . Alex tried not to cave. They denied Morgan entry to keep their infatuation from reeling them in any closer. But when the wound stopped bleeding and Morgan started to withdraw, Alex knew it was already too late. They couldn't only be Morgan's friend after this. Alex had fallen too deep, and now the only thing they had to offer was the truth.
"Please," Alex panted into Morgan's mouth, already begging before they'd even opened their eyes, "please...don't stop . I want this Morgan, want you , I want mine to mean something, Please—"
The next kiss bordered on violence.
Morgan pushed Alex back into the couch so hard something splintered, and pulled Alex up into a kiss that was nothing like the first one . This kiss was passionate and messy, and the last bit of restraint in Alex shattered. Alex finally parted their lips to let Morgan in, and they took full advantage, the kiss sparking into an inferno . They let their hands roam over the planes and muscles of Morgan's body, the places they had always wanted to touch . Morgan leaned into it, encouraged it all as they plunged into Alex's mouth, sucking the very air out of their lungs . Alex had kissed plenty of people before, people attracted to the power, or the villain status. Kissing Morgan, really kissing Morgan, was like finally breathing real air. There was no one else who came close.
They grabbed Morgan by the back of the neck and angled it, licking up into Morgan's mouth. Alex could taste the metal of their own blood behind Morgan's teeth. Morgan's hands had moved up and under the hem of Alex's shirt, and Morgan latched their mouth to the other side of Alex's neck, leaving new bruises and bites . Alex snapped and stopped those healing completely as soon as they realized. They had a fight with the Fairness Association tomorrow, Alex wanted to see what color The Chadster would turn .
Morgan ground down on Alex's lap, and Alex's mind turned to static. Any coherent thought was replaced with please and more and Morgan , and again . They were grinding and making out on the couch with clothes still on, covered in gore, and Alex couldn't care less. Alex left a searing kiss by Morgan's collarbone and grabbed under Morgan's thighs, rocking them forward . The contact twisted Alex's insides, made their whole body sing. The desperate little moan that slipped out of Morgan was like music, so Alex did it again. And again. Morgan held onto Alex like they were drowning, and let Alex set the pace, every filthy grind doing havoc to Alex's nervous system .
"Say it again." Morgan breathed against Alex's lips, and Alex faltered, but only a moment. Alex reached forward and grabbed Morgan's ass, and felt Morgan's breathing hitch as Alex rolled them forward again . It still wasn't quite right, wasn't quite what they needed. Alex flipped them, laying Morgan back on the couch and slotting easily between their legs . This positioning was so much better, so much closer. Morgan could wrap their legs around Alex now, and when they started grinding forward Morgan rose to meet every stroke . That was Morgan, always on equal footing with Alex, never giving an inch. Morgan let out the loudest, most wretched moan so far; Alex kissed it right out of their mouth.
"I need to hear you say it again, Alex, fuck, I need to hear it."
Alex looked down at Morgan. They brushed the blood and sweat soaked hair back from their face to see their eyes were no longer red. It was the same honeyed brown they had come to know over so many years together. With a tenderness Alex wasn't sure they would ever be capable of, they laced their fingers together and pinned Morgan's hands up by their head . Alex pressed a comparatively chaste kiss to Morgan's lips.
"I'm yours, Morgan."
Alex felt Morgan's hips stutter, felt their rhythm start to fall apart. Alex was right behind them; they could feel the tension like something alive, churning and coiling under their skin . They forced themself to focus, to keep the not-so-gentle pace they had set as Morgan writhed and bucked underneath them . They were so vocal, so loud . Alex was desperate for it. They hoped Morgan had their own tenants banging on the door, hoped the whole building could hear them. They pressed their foreheads together so Alex could taste every sweet word, could feel the rumble of every moan and whimper . Alex was going to give Morgan everything they ever wanted and more, was going to scorch the thought of anyone else touching Morgan like this from their mind forever .
"Alex, I'm so close, don't stop, please—" Morgan let out a broken moan as Alex pressed a kiss to the corner of their mouth. Everything was shining and burning, the two of them lived at the center of a supernova all their own. Alex didn't know how they ever thought they could go without this.
"Please, fuck , I love you so much, Alex, Alex, Alex, Alex, Alex—"
Morgan came undone around them, and it hit Alex's bloodstream like a drug. Hearing Alex's name in Morgan's mouth, knowing that Alex was the one who did it, knowing that Morgan loves them was like being pushed off a cliff .
"Morgan."
It felt like they would never stop falling; Alex unraveled on an atomic level. The only thing they could focus on was grinding every pretty little sound out of Morgan as they worked their way through it, slowing down but never quite stopping, letting the fire turn to embers in the pit of Alex's stomach .
"Mmm, Alex, 's so much—ngh, 'm sensitive," Morgan gasped. Alex felt like they'd die if they stopped, if they ever had to go without this again. Alex cupped the back of Morgan's head and pulled them up into a languid kiss, and let the last embers fade into a hazy afterglow . Morgan melted into a puddle. Sated, boneless, bloodied and messy, Alex tucked their head under Morgan's chin and caught their breath . One of Morgan's hands came up and started carding through Alex's hair.
"You really are all mine, huh?" Morgan mumbled, the awe evident in their voice. If Alex didn't have super hearing their might've missed it. Alex didn't have the energy to tell them that Alex had been theirs since day one, maybe even before. Maybe they had belonged to Morgan from the moment the planet had stopped burning, when the water and continents formed . Maybe before they were even their own people, when Alex was a hero and Morgan was a sidekick. In every timeline, every universe, in every single way. Alex fell asleep on Morgan's chest, and it was warm, and Alex chased the feeling into to dark.
