Work Text:
“Have a little more faith in him.”
“I don’t know,” Demetrius said. “It’s not about not having faith in him, but worrying. I know he constantly gets mad and tells me I’m not his dad…”
“That doesn’t stop you worrying about him,” Jo Robinson said. “Sometimes one needs space. That’s what I learned when it came to my nephew. He needed space to grieve his wife just as he needed space to grow up the way he did, but I knew he’d come to me if he ever needed me.”
“Yes, but he’s had it hard.”
“Raised my own nephew,” Jo said. “But Sebastian—his father’s family isn’t in the picture?”
“No. I mean,” Demetrius said. “His father’s as perplexed as me, but he also has to deal with that family of his. None of them like the fact Sebastian is heir to the company.”
“So it’s really not about whether or not Sebastian will be able to take care of himself monetarily,” Jo said, nodding her head.
“That’s never been a problem, although he refuses any money from his father or us and is trying on his own,” Demetrius said. “No. It’s the way he locks himself in that room and goes and smokes. The way he distances himself.”
“Just have a bit of faith. Sometimes, the right thing needs to happen.”
