Chapter Text
The next morning, Orbot and Cubot awoke as they stood balanced on the crib's rails.
"Good morning, my precious robots!" Dr. Eggman cheerfully enters Orbot and Cubot's room. With gentle care, he lifts his beloved mechanical sons into his arms. After sharing a warm, affectionate cuddle with his bots, he carefully places them on the changing table.
"I need to talk to both of you about potty training," Eggman says to Orbot and Cubot as they finish changing diapers. "It's fine to have accidents while you're learning, but it's important to start practicing."
"Come on, everyone, let's grab some food!" Eggman announced enthusiastically to the group.
In the elegant dining room, anticipation fills the air as the table is set and prepared. The Egg Pawns service arrives promptly, delivering carefully arranged plates to their designated positions on the pristine tablecloth.
After finishing breakfast, Eggman meets with his sons, Orbot and Cubot, when his father arrives.
"Here are two potty training units I've designed," he announced in the restroom, gesturing with raised hands toward the small training facility.
"I will display the chart board once it's mounted on the wall in the playroom," Eggman said, holding the chart board and addressing them.
“If you behave and include our kids, Metal, Orbot, Cubot, and Sage,” Eggman will explain everything to you.
"It's not fair!" Metal exclaims in frustration, his voice trailing off with a resigned "That's fine..." followed by a mechanical "Beep." Despite his anger towards his father, he maintains his composure and remains standing, processing his emotions.
"I deeply regret to inform you that I must return to my duties at the hospital," Dr. Eggman said softly while embracing his daughter and gently hugging Orbot and Cubot, giving his robotic companions an affectionate pat before departing.
"I shall reap the rewards of their astonishment!" Eggman exclaimed with a grandiose wave.
On the cozy couch, Shadow and Metal are relaxing together, while nearby Sage, Orbot, and Cubot are engaged in a play with various toys, each bringing their own unique style and approach to their recreational activities.
Until then, "I feel a heaviness inside like oil weighing me down." Orbot feels uneasy and quickly rushes to his oldest brother.
"I'm taking you with me to the restroom!" Metal exclaimed, grabbing his little brother Orbot's hands.
In the restroom, Orbot nervously clings to his oldest brother, expressing his apprehension: "I'm afraid of potty training." The siblings hold tightly to each other for comfort and support.
"It's okay to look at me—there's nothing to fear about potty training. We've got this!" Metal gently guides his little brother, supportively holding his hip as the child sits half-dressed on the potty, ensuring he feels secure and comfortable.
"What's inside the potty hole? I'm curious since I can't feel anything in there," Orbot asked while holding onto his oldest brother's arms.
"When I was younger, I was the same way, but my father always taught me about potty training, sleep, playtime, and chores," Metal said, sharing a story with his little brother. Orbot listened attentively while sitting on the potty.
"It hurts so much," Orbot whimpered, sitting on the potty while clutching Metal's arms tightly as tears streamed down his face.
Orbot is crying because he mixed poop and pee in the potty. Metal, his older brother, gently says, "Ok, don't cry... but you have mixed poop and pee. Are you finished with the potty?"
Metal holds Orbot, then lies on the floor, focusing on changing diapers. Metal grabs a pot of thermal bolts and oil from the potty training kit; Orbot watches the pot, then pounds the trash.
"Great work! You can place the chart board on the potty," Metal encourages while rewarding his little brother Orbot with stickers.
In the playroom, Orbot enthusiastically places a shining sticker star on the chart board, bouncing with excitement as he celebrates his achievement.
"Guess what? I just used the potty all by myself for the first time!" Orbot announced proudly to his siblings, beaming with accomplishment.
"I am apprehensive about using the bathroom!" Cubot is explaining to them.
"Don't worry, little brother! Potty training will be a breeze—I know you can do it!" Orbot said encouragingly, giving Cubot a gentle pat on the shoulder.
Sage sits cross-legged on the playroom floor, carefully stacking colorful blocks. "Remember friends, sharing makes playtime more fun!" she says cheerfully, offering some blocks to Orbot and Cubot.
"Processing concept: sharing = increased enjoyment." Orbot responds, accepting a red block while gently passing a blue one to Cubot.
"Wheee! Building together is super fun!" Cubot exclaims, though his enthusiasm causes him to knock over part of the tower. "Oops... sorry friends!"
"That's okay, Cubot," Sage reassures him. "Making mistakes helps us learn. Let's rebuild it together!"
The three robots work cooperatively, taking turns adding blocks and celebrating each successful level of their growing tower. Through play, they practice patience, kindness, and teamwork—proving that even robots can master the art of getting along.
Metal and Shadow lounge comfortably on the sofa, taking a brief moment of relaxation. Their peaceful break is cut short as they decide to join Sage, Orbot, and Cubot, who are engaged in some lively play activities in another part of the room. Just as the group settles into their fun and games, Dr. Eggman makes his entrance into the playroom, his presence immediately drawing everyone's attention.
"I want to see your accomplishments!" Eggman exclaimed enthusiastically, beaming with pride as he lifted his daughter after spotting their names on the reward chart board.
“Wow, I can’t believe this, so good job!! Your reward to the potty!” Eggman pats his middle son; Orbot is smiling at his father.
"Time for bath time, everyone!" Dr. Eggman called out cheerfully. "Shadow, Metal, could you come help with the children?"
Eggman guides his children to the bathroom for bath time. As he helps them get clean in the tub, Sage, Orbot, and Cubot playfully splash around in the water. "Stop, please!! Cubot!!" Eggman exclaims as he lifts the energetic Cubot from the tub, wrapping him in a towel before having a gentle word with him.
"Oh no, my poor baby," Eggman said softly, noticing his distress due to autism. He gently pulled him into a comforting embrace to help calm him down. Once settled, Eggman carefully handed Cubot over to Shadow.
"I will take Cubot and put him into the other room," Shadow said, gently picking up the little robot.
Metal lifted Orbot from the water, carefully drying him with a towel as they made their way towards the room.
Shadow placed Cubot on the changing table and carefully attended to changing his diaper. Meanwhile, Metal provided support by holding supplies, and Orbot observed the process from nearby.
"Success!" Shadow exclaimed proudly as he supported Cubot's bowl from beneath, beaming with enthusiasm as he shared the accomplishment with his cousin Metal.
"Well done!" Metal exclaimed, giving Shadow an approving gesture. He then carefully lifted Orbot onto the changing table and began the task of changing the diaper with focused attention.
Metal and Shadow snuggle close together with Orbot and Cubot before being placed as decorative elements on the nursery mobile. As the mobile begins to turn, Metal and Shadow dangle as ornamental pieces while gentle music plays, soothing Orbot and Cubot as they rest in their crib. Dr. Eggman makes his way into the room carrying bottles of formula, which he tenderly offers to the two little robots.
In their cozy nursery, Orbot and Cubot nestled into their padded recharge mattress, contentedly sipping warm oil from their metallic formula bottles. "Sweet dreams, my mechanical munchkins!" Dr. Eggman called out with a gentle wave, dimming the lights as he left his robot helpers to power down for the night.
Eggman tenderly wrapped his arms around Sage in a warm embrace, cherishing the peaceful moment with his daughter. He then gently guided her to her bedroom and tucked her in, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "Have a good night and sweet dreams, my precious one!" he said lovingly, waving as he stood in the doorway watching over his beloved daughter.
"Thank you both very much," Eggman said to Shadow and Metal as he turned to head back into the room.
Exhausted from their activities, Metal and Shadow couldn't muster the energy to return to the room. Metal made his way to the bed and quickly drifted off to sleep.
“I am exhausted after spending the entire day with my little cousin.” Shadow has made himself comfortable, sprawled out on the guest room bed.
