Chapter Text
Picture’s thousand words? Our tiles.
Our days, a billion patterns.
Beauty of all life.

Short? Yes. Incomplete? Never.
I'm writing a series of haiku about the Mosaic. These are all standalone but I shall add more like tiles from time to time. So in essence this puzzle will always be complete yet ever creating a new pattern. Hoping to gradually present the beauty of all their lives together. Like shifting tiles I may shift the pictures around too, as I have time. I'm actually being crushed by deadlines rn, sorry for the mess, but I figure They got tired working on the puzzle, too. Yet they loved each day. And we all love it so.
Thank you for reading!
To make sure you don't miss newly added art (a constant process), please subscribe. From Fall 2025, I've begun creating "bonus art chapters" collecting the art that was retroactively added to missing chapters, so that those who already enjoyed won't miss anything. I'll issue a "bonus art chapter" a few months after I have posted 6 or more new artworks.
If my art ever fails to load, visit my website to see all my Tumblr posts for Mosaic Haiku, or Instagram.
Ch. 23 (poetry and some of the art) will be added for Don’t Make Me Sing (Every Single One of Us Has to Sing): Mar. 23-29, 2026.
For Amnesty Week 2026, art in Ch. 6, 15, 16. Also a whole new Chapter 24!
Time Is an Illusion, Dec. 8-16, 2025 brought 9 artworks to chapters 5, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and an entirely new Chapter 21.
Amnesty Week 2025 brought 6 artworks to chapters 10, 14, 15, 16.
Chapter 17 arrived for May Trope Mayhem 2025, Day 17, Time Loop.
For Welcome Home!, Chapter 16, plus art added to chapters 4-16.
For Warm Up, Chapter 15, plus art in chapters 4, 9, and 13Art Status Note
With Ch. 21, there are at least 135 photoscenes accompanying the haiku visible in the Tumblr chapters. ("At least" because image-heavy Ch. 21 makes for a confusing count; I'm currently counting the 3 montages/video for "Late" as just 3 scenes, and only counting each distinct picture once, even if part is repeated as a close-up, etc.).In the AO3 chapters, these are transformed to art. Six of those scenes are repeated in some way with the art, leaving 129 scenes to be drawn and painted. With Ch. 4, based on fan feedback, I decided to permanently include the drawings as well as the paintings (drawings are back in Ch. 1-3, but often I hadn't scanned the art, so might be low-quality). As of Jan. 4, 2026, 59 drawings + 52 paintings are up (111 artworks, or 43% of 258 works). (Before image-heavy Ch. 21, I had hit 50% art completion in Dec. 2025.)
In 2026: Hoping to bring 39 drawings/paintings. However, with some repeated art, we'll say Ch. 23 adds 4 new photoscenes and Ch. 24 adds 2, which means 12 art pieces (drawings & paintings), bringing the total to at least 270 potential artworks needed, so the 150 artworks done would mean 56% completion.
Progress is slow, so I’m posting art drafts for Mosaic Haiku here: Queliot previews
Update 10/3/24: Mosaic Haiku Drawings are back!
I've received interest in continuing to showcase the original drawings as well as the paintings, so I've added them. Each drawing precedes its painting. Please note that when I originally began this project, I hadn't intended to do that, so I didn't start scanning each drawing before painting it until Chapter 4. Thus, a lot of the Ch. 1-3 drawings are low-quality (just personal reference shots). I did my best to brighten them without losing what detail there was. Please enjoy them in the spirit of fun--I'm an amateur, just like Q and El with their tiles.Note: The combination of haiku with imagery is a form of art known as Haiga (Haiku with Imagery), or Photo Haiku. The images are part of the art form. In many cases these days, photo haiku also function as a form of ekphrasis, poems about works of visual art, with the photo or image created by either the poet or a different artist. In the case of Mosaic Haiku, I am creating a series of mini paintings to represent some classic scenes; but I also want to show the poems in the context of the original photos. So, on AO3, you will find the chapters with my paintings displayed along with the haiku that respond to those scenes (it's going to take a few weeks for me to finish painting all the scenes, so please bear with me). You can also follow external links to see the original photoscenes, which I don't own (they are simply images from the best episode of TV ever, which I am interpreting/reacting to/expanding upon with my haiku, doing my best to portray their spirits and lives at the mosaic). Finally, to make the experience complete, I have paired the haiku with the actual images on Tumblr: Mosaic Haiku Table of Contents.
Queliot Bingo
I'm so excited to work on my Queliot Bingo card. This fic covers the Mosaic Fic, Quest Fic, and Time Travel squares. From Queliot Bingo, thank you so much!As per the rules, I will add this to
the collection when my card is complete.
