Teeth

Summary:

“Fight so dirty, but you love so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go...”

A bit of musing and 'experimentation', between our favorite rabbit and jester. Jax has a question, Pomni is there, and both are looking for something. As it turns out, research can be quite the fun endeavor, if you know what you're doing.

Work Text:

It was such a small detail; it really shouldn't have caught Jax's eye the way it did.

But it had. It had, from the last few adventures they'd shared together, which had been on the far more physical and exerting side of things. He'd noticed, as Ragatha had helped the girl to her feet, watching from the corner of his eye while she dusted herself clean. The glitching, off-colored marks, against her pale white skin.

Pomni had a tendency to bruise easily.

Considering how common it was for her to get tangled in her own limbs and body, still getting used to this world...yeah, the marks were rather constant. They'd be healed up, soon enough, once Caine arrived on the scene, but still. Everybody would be chatting and chilling, himself included, but he could no longer shake off that nagging curiosity, every time he saw that awkward smile, those rosy cheeks, those thin, delicate limbs, that tiny figure:

Where else could marks be left...and how?

He hadn't been able to ignore her, ever since she'd first arrived. The anxious little jester, full of big dreams surrounded by panic. The girl who was always prone to such extreme reactions, every time they interacted. He'd gotten a taste of it one day, shortly after she'd arrived, when she'd stumbled into one of his pranks. Ragatha had chewed him out thoroughly for it, but the spark had already been ignited. Pomni's response to his actions, was far too memorable to miss.

As things had gone on, gradually...he'd gotten closer to the female. Not just through practical jokes, but general meetings and conversations. The harlequin wasn't actually as crazy as she first came across as, which made it all the more entertaining. She was loco, thinking that there was any sort of chance to escape, but stable enough to hang out with, if only for short periods of time. It wasn't like he went out of his way to engage with anyone really, at the Digital Circus. Jax could socialize fine – he just didn't consider himself a social butterfly.

However, the more time passed, the more his bizarre interest grew. The more the desire for answers built up inside him. The more he realized...he needed a release. It was getting far too loud in his head. The voices were all centered around one figure, with big pinwheel eyes, a sweet voice, flushed cheeks...and that pale, milk-white skin.

Jax didn't want to hurt her, surely. That wasn't his MO here. No, he just...needed to figure her out a bit better. He had tabs on everyone here: Ragatha, Zooble, Gangle, Kinger. Even Caine, to a degree. He had everyone nearly pinned down, in understanding how they worked, what made them tick. Yes, even the AI ringleader had a set routine. But Pomni...she was shiny and new, in the best way possible. And, if there was one thing Jax couldn't stand, it was boredom.

Pomni made questions fill up in his head. Pomni kept him awake at night. Pomni always drew his attention. It was both exciting, and annoying – he really wasn't sure what to do with these thoughts and feelings. He couldn't decide whether it was better to encourage them, or let go.

Then, one evening...he finally got his answer.

They'd just finished dinner, after yet another day of adventuring and rough-housing. Everybody had returned to their rooms, like usual. Pomni, in particular, had taken a bit of a beating today. Although they couldn't bleed, that didn't mean she hadn't looked the worse for wear, after having gotten knocked around a few times while running about. Like usual, Caine had patched her up, good as new. Though, Jax could still see, in his mind's eye...messy, short brown locks, wide red and blue eyes, small lips...

...and those dark, crackling spots, embedded in the surface of her skin. How soft was she? She certainly looked like she could be, considering how easily she took damage. With just a bit of pressure, she would give...but hopefully, not all the way.

He'd had her key in his grasp, for how long now. Yet, for all the time she'd been here as the newest permanent resident, he'd never once entered her room, be it whether or not she was inside. He'd never set up a prank in her territory, or gone nosing through her things. And those voices, oh...they were eating him up inside. Jax couldn't handle not knowing. He couldn't handle the anticipation. He needed to up the ante, as it were.

Nobody had ever inspired this level of interest in him before. Jax wasn't planning on letting her go any time soon.

“Huh?” Pomni had been lying on her bed, staring up at the ceiling, when the sound of clicking had reached her ears. Sitting up quickly, her attention was now focused on her door, which was swinging in sharply, smacking off the wall. Wincing at the action, she took in the sight of a familiar purple rabbit making his way into her room. Now, she was just a tad on edge.

Wide eyes were surveying his lanky, grinning form. She knew that Jax had keys for everyone. But, he'd never made the move of entering her domain...until this moment. What was he planning here? Pomni refused to believe there was anything innocent about his intentions. She knew the guy better than that.

Letting out a hum, Jax was now closing the door behind him, carefully locking it once more, as quietly and discreetly as he could manage. Returning his attention to the smaller figure before him, he made his way over. She was already scrambling to her feet, not wanting to come across as vulnerable in his eyes. As if he'd just suddenly...pounce upon her, like a predator to prey. Weird, when you considered what he was, but okay. The guy was snarky and devious. She couldn't predict anything from him.

Inhaling slowly, Pomni regarded him with a wary stare. Though, she wasn't about to start accusing him of anything right off the bat, either. “Jax. Why are you here?”

At this, his grin became a smirk. “Oh? Do I need a reason to visit lil' Pom-Pom?” Great, just great. His preferred nickname for her. Just what she wanted to hear. Looks like he definitely had something in mind, beyond a simple conversation. And now, it was on her to figure out what it was.

Shaking her head, Pomni crossed her arms over her chest. “Uhh, yeah? Kinda? Otherwise, not gonna lie: this is a little odd.” Ah, her suspicious nature was rearing its head. Right off the bat, she didn't trust him. Well, considering what he had in mind for her tonight...

...perhaps she really shouldn't have.

Now, he was stepping closer, causing her to take one back. Her cool outer facade was starting to falter, just a tad, and he continued drawing in nearer. It wasn't until she felt the foot of her bed against the back of her legs, that she finally realized: she'd been cornered. There was no way she could get around him, as the taller male leaned in. His face was about an inch away from hers.

“A 'little odd', huh?” Jax let out a low chuckle, golden eyes shaded darkly, as he slowly took in her form, from head to toe. Pomni could feel the heat creeping into her face – just what was with that look? “Well, guess I gotta fix that...”

Then, without warning, Pomni found herself flat on her back, staring straight up. Like a toppled turtle. Her heart was racing, but before she was able to rise, Jax had her pinned beneath him. If her heart had been pounding before, it was nothing compared to the current moment, what with the guy in such close proximity to her. His breath was fanning out over her cheeks, only serving to heat them further. Her hat had come off when she'd fallen over, and now, a yellow-gloved hand was running through her hair.

Those black irises were scanning her intently, smile growing ever wider. This did not serve to settle her nerves any. “Hmm...” His other hand was currently tugging at the little puff balls on the front of her one-piece suit. “Y'know...you're really clumsy, Pom-Pom.”

At this, she felt her jaw go slightly slack, in consternation. What was he talking about? In general, or right now? Because right now, she'd only wound up like this because of him! Him and...whatever the h*ll he was planning here. Which was most likely nothing good...

Suddenly, touching. His hand was cupping her chin, thumb grazing her cheek as he turned her face gently in his grasp. Pomni could feel her heart rate picking up again – being in such a position, with someone like this? Was enough to make her melt out of sheer awkwardness. It wasn't anything to do with the fact that she couldn't ever recall, whether or not she'd ever had anyone so up close and personal in her space...let alone a guy quite like Jax. Nope, no sirree!

“Mmm...how cute.” Pomni let out a squeak, as without warning, he was squishing her cheeks together. Now she was pouting out of irritation – had he come here just to work her up and have a laugh? Another squeeze, before he stopped, hand slipping back down to her chin once more. He was tilting it upwards just so, regarding her with a new look in his heavy-lidded eyes. One that made Pomni's pulse race ever faster, as that golden grin tugged upwards just a tad higher. He seemed...so hungry...that was the best way to describe it.

Wait – why is he getting closer?? That was when she just managed to catch his last words. “Now, how's about you fall for me this time...?” In a flash, he'd closed the gap between them. Pomni thought her eyes were about to pop out of her head.

This wasn't happening. It wasn't happening! She was not trapped in her room, having a kiss stolen by none other than freaking Jax! She wasn't pinned helplessly beneath him, was not experiencing the sensation of warm lips pressed to her own, prominent teeth beginning to nibble at her lower lip, pulling lightly. The feeling caused her to part her mouth just slightly – and that was all the invitation he needed. In another instant, his tongue had slipped through, teasingly nudging her own with the tip.

She could have tried to push him away. Most likely, she should have. Yet, at the same time...

Pomni couldn't lie: the contact felt good. It felt good. And not just so much in the sense of being romantic. Ever since she'd arrived here at the Digital Circus, she'd been so...empty inside. This realm was so colorful and lively, but at the same time...it wasn't alive. There was so much it was lacking, and physical comfort, no matter the form...was one of those ways.

It wasn't like she could go up to someone like Ragatha and say “Hey, I'm sad. Can I get a hug?” Granted, the woman would probably give her one. But that wasn't the point! The point was, Pomni wasn't the kind of person to reach out in such a manner! Neither could she ask anyone else for that sort of contact, either. They'd have looked at her like she'd lost what was left of her mind!

And then suddenly, here and now – bam, Jax was showing her attention? It didn't matter the method or guise it came in, Pomni couldn't deny the surge of butterflies in her ribcage. She couldn't deny, that it felt...nice, to be so close with someone. Again, that question: had she ever even been with another person like this, when she'd still been outside, in the real world? How much had others really cared for her, in regards to her existence?

She didn't know. And right now, Pomni didn't care. With trembling motions, her hands were reaching up, to rest gently upon the rabbitoid's shoulders. Upon feeling her touch, he smirked into the kiss, before pulling away swiftly. Pomni let out a gasp, suddenly feeling so exposed.

If she'd thought that was startling though, it was nothing compared to what Jax had in store for her next. Surveying her form from above, he was now reaching over, to lift her up just so...

...in order to reach the zipper running along her back. At this, Pomni froze. No...no way. He wasn't really, about to - !

Instantly, she was flailing and thrashing. “D-Don't! Not there!” Letting out a laugh, Jax had easily gotten hold of her wrists in one hand. The other was still toying with the collar of her suit. His stare, so teasing and wanting, was regarding her with a new interest.

“Pom-Pom...I'm not gonna hurt you. Whatever you're thinking here...I can promise, that ain't it.” Although still guarded, Pomni nevertheless stopped her pitiful onslaught. “No, y'see, I'm just a little...curious, about something. And you're gonna help me figure it out.”

Slowly, he began to slide the zipper, stopping just about around the top of her shoulder blades. From there, he was pushing the fabric down from above, exposing her throat and the top of her chest. No lower. Her heart was skipping rope on the playground, as cruelly glittering eyes reflected her flushed and frazzled state. “So, just...relax, okay? That'll make it good for the both of us.”

A pause, as he sat back just so. “See? I'm not going any farther than that. There's just...one little thing I wanna see for myself. It's not dangerous.” She had no idea if she could really trust his words here. This whole situation was screaming trouble. But, at the same time...lonely, she was so lonely. And, she had to admit, a little intrigued, as to what the h*ll she could possibly be able to assist Jax, of all people with. Why would someone like him, need someone like her?

Now, he was leaning back in. His index finger was grazing her lips. “Will you give me a chance?” His voice was low, rolling over her trembling and prone form beneath him. Her heart jumped once more, before at long last, she gave him a nod. With smile breaking upon his features yet again, he dove down...

...to catch the column of her tiny neck between his teeth. Immediately, the gasp, as Pomni's back arched. That sensation - !

Oh, how nice! Very nice! Yes, that was exactly what he wanted to see! Now, just a little more...swirling the tip of his tongue around her smooth skin, he proceeded to suck at the flesh, biting down just a bit harder, applying more pressure. There, a faint snap. Another gasp, followed by a whimper. Her hands were now back to clutching at his shoulders, and he smirked against her throat, before pulling away to survey his handiwork. Moment of truth...!

There it is! Resting upon the snow white expanse of delicate skin, was a fresh, staticky bruise. It crackled softly, perfectly placed against her untouched canvas of flesh. Jax's eyes widened, taking in the sight of a trembling, flushed Pomni beneath him, and oh...but wasn't it just the tempting sight.

He'd gotten his answer, yes. But, what was it they said...one good turn deserved another? With that settled, he returned to his prior ministrations. By the time he was done, Pomni would be a battered, blissfully babbling mess.

A final smirk to himself. Looks like he'd just found a new game to play.

...

Another day, another adventure. The morning was starting off simply enough, with everyone heading out towards the carnival.

As Ragatha had fallen into step with her smaller friend, she'd taken note of just how...jumpy, the girl seemed. As if she were desperate to hide something; like she were see-through. This had worried her some, watching the girl acting like a virtual space cadet. “Pomni? Are you okay?”

At this she started, looking towards her companion as if she hadn't quite realized she was there. Nodding rapidly, Pomni did her best to flash her a warm, reassuring smile. “Y-Yeah, no worries! I'm good! It was just...a long night.” Now, Ragatha understood: Pomni had simply been the victim of a rough evening. Nothing to do, no sleep to be found.

“Alright...well, next time you're having trouble, feel free to come see me, okay? It's no problem at all.” Offering up another nod, Pomni looked ahead, towards the colorful scenery gradually rising in the distance. Yeah, like she was really about to tell the doll woman that the true reason for her awkward mannerisms...

...was due to the fact she was currently sporting an entire choker of hickeys all around her collar, shoulders, and chest. Made by one smug rabbitoid, who was currently whistling to himself, though shooting her the occasional devilish grin from a distance, when nobody was looking. And the worst part?

She wouldn't mind if he did it again.

Notes:

...not me getting inspired randomly, throwing this together in less than a night's time, and then impatiently chucking it here, into the void, LOL. Just a silly oneshot, about two characters that I really f*cking like seeing together, okay?! Like...the funnybunny bug has bitten me SO hard, I swear to SOMEbody. 😆

Also, hickeys. Always wanted to write a story that focuses on them. IDK, call me crazy...I just *really* like the idea of marking somebody. Don't judge me. [Or at least, not too harshly? 😅]

[And, ONE MORE 'also': this DOES NOT tie in with my ongoing series. Just to clear up any confusion. It's a random standalone.]

As always, feedback is welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated. So long as one person enjoys this, I'm happy. :) Until next time, take care. ❤️
