Chapter Text

Honey stares at the journal in front of her and writes. I guess I need to explain what is happening. See sixteen years ago today I died and met Arceus who told me that the villian group I created has come to life to try to destroy the world.

That because it was my fault for creating this mafia type villian team that I had to go to the Pokemon world and fix my mess. That I would be reborn as the protagonist that I created and abandoned in my last fanfiction.

I was reborn as Honey Ketchum daughter of Giovanni and Lance Blackthorn's sister Delia, who changed her last name to Ketchum. Delia changed her last name because she married Giovani whose last name just so happens to be Ketchum. That means that I am Ash Ketchum's older sister by sixteen years.

My hair is at shoulder length and is dark brown and wavy. I have amber colored eyes like my uncle Lance Blackthorn. For the gym challenge for my official trainer outfit, I choose to wear black tights, a red long-sleeved shirt and a grey jacket with a Pokéball on the back.

Honey stops writing in her journal when she hears her aunt Kelly yell," Honey it's time for you to leave to go get your starter with Leon and Henry! Oh, and Henry is here to walk with you to the lab sweetie!"

Honey stops writing and rushes around her room to gather her backpack and supplies. After tripping over her shoes when she was searching. Honey stops and puts her shoes on and runs downstairs.

Kelly grins," Honey I invited Henry in when you did not answer." Henry has been my longest lasting friend and is Professor Magnolia's grandson.

He has a problem where if he does not wear his mask his face and the air surrounding it blurs. This causes the effect of his face looking like a background character that has a black area where his face should be. It's quite frightening to see his face without the mask on and has been known to cause Pokémon and people to run away in terror.

"Aunt Kelly you know I hate it when you let Henry in because he takes all the good snacks for himself."

"Well, you have come down sooner you know I told you to pack yesterday." Kelly pulls her own long red hair into a ponytail and looks up at me with purple eyes.

Henry joins the conversation with," Well Honey we better get going if you want a chance to choose your Pokémon today." Henry's yellow frowny face mask with v shaped eyebrows stairs at me.

Honey grabs Henry while screaming," Aunt Kelly, I will see you later when I leave at the train station!" Before Kelly could reply Honey and Henry had already run out the front door to go to Professor Magnolia's house.

"Okay Henry we need to pick up Leon before we go to Professor Magnolia's house to pick our starters and get our league recommendations from her too." She said this while tugging the tall ten-year-old behind her. They both went past a field filled with different types of Pokémon helping the farmers with their work.

Finally, they got there when they saw a boy wearing a yellow hazmat suit and a black gas mask. This boy says," ha I've been waiting for the past four hours to tell ya that Leon already left. He's being endorsed by the chairman and has been given a Charmander. Oh, by the way I'm the third person picking up a Pokémon from Professor Magnolia's with you. The Professor has a very special Pokémon waiting just for me. She did say before I pick it up though to walk with you to over there to guide the way."

I stare at the kid who dropped the bomb about Leon leaving ahead of us to start his journey. He did this even though he promised the night before that we would all travel together.

Before I could react to the feeling of familiarity, I get from seeing him. The hazmat suit kid walks up to me, and Henry grabs our hands and starts dragging us to the path leading to the Professors house. The path leading theirs blurs with how fast we are running down it but when we slow down many things can be seen. A Butterfree and Wooloo can be seen on the way from Postwick to Wedgehurst. Looking up at the sky Rookidee can be seen flying in the air. It is a sight of wonder to most beginner trainers who start their journey from Postwick.

The reason why this boy is so strong and fast is because people in this universe have to be physically strong and fast to survive attacks from Pokémon. Without strength parents would not send their ten-year-old children out on a journey of discovery.

The journey is a tradition that one must complete once in their life to be considered an adult. It is also considered by employers that people who obtained one badge at least are better than people who have not done journey or have not earned one badge. People who have at least started their journeys are given benefits of being sponsored by a gym, the League or a professor. The Pokémon that are caught are not sent to a professor to take care of instead it's the trainer's job to be able to feed their whole team. This means that a trainer can have more than six Pokémon with them at a time but are only legally allowed to use six Pokémon in a battle. They can have as pikeman as they can reasonably care for but for any battle only six Pokémon are allowed to be used.

"Oh, I forgot to mention that my name is Michio and I'm twelve years old", Hazmat kid says to Honey and Henry after they get to Wedgehurst. Wait a minute that name is familiar to me. Oh no, it is Michio the arrogant rival I created. He wears the hazmat suit and mask because of severe burns from his travels with his father Kabu. Yep, I know the fire type gym leader has a son starting his journey here.

Henry yanks his hand out of Michio's grip. "Hey why did you not introduce yourself before you grabbed me and Honey?" Henry says tilting his head. For some reason his mask's face changed to a frowny face with one raised brow.

Michio laughs, "Well I was pretty excited to get my starter since I can't use my Larvesta until I battle the third gym." He scratches the back of his suit after explaining, "The League here will not that me use Larvesta until I earn my second badge something about my pikeman being too dangerous for a starter."

"Wait so the only reason you dragged us along with you is because you want your Larvesta back?" Henry than says, "Well I guess we better hurry then."

Henry grabs me and Michio and starts to speed walk to the lab. We pass the Pokémon Center on our way there. People greet us while walking by with their Pokémon. Finally, we reach the lab and as soon as Henry let's go of my hand and Michio's to knock on the door. The door opens and standing right there is Sonia, "Hey little brother coming to get your starter."

"Sonia, you know your only older by five minutes and why are you here? I thought you would have left by now" Henry tilts his head to the side while saying this.

Sonia does not give Henry a reply instead she moves out the way of the door to let us in. I guess she was waiting for Henry to start her journey with him. Michio walks in first and goes to Professor Magnolia.

"Hey Professor, do you have my starter now?"

Professor Magnolia chuckles and reaches into her pocket, "Here you go Michio, since you already choose your starter earlier here it is. Have a wonderful journey and do not forget to call your father. He is worried for you since your mother died."

Michio sneers, "As if that old man cares for me. The only thing he cares about is being a gym leader!" He walks out the door after snatching his new Pokémon out if her hand. I hope he will be alright because it is my fault for his suffering. I should have realized that when Arceus told me what I wrote came to life here. That it also means the death and suffering I added to characters to make them have more sympathy from the readers.

Professor Magnolia looks at her handing sighing. Then is startled when she looks up to see that her grandson Henry and Honey is there.

"Oh, dear thankfully there are still two starters here. A girl came in earlier and took one." Professor Magnolia reaches into her right pocket and pulls out two Pokéballs.

"Honey how about you go first since I did kind of drag you here," Henry gestures to the Pokéballs.

"Okay if you're sure Henry." I pick a random Pokéball and press the release button on it. Out comes Scorbunny looking around the room until our eyes locked with each other.

Scorbunny jumps up in the air and kicks my forehead. Dazed I fall on the ground and Scorbunny angrily hops over to kick me again.

"Well, I forgot to tell you that Scorbunny arrived today in a foul mood. I never did expect for scorbunny to act this hostile," Professor Magnolia hesitantly, "Another Scorbunny was supposed to be one of the starters today. I can get it and switch Scorbunnies for you Honey."

"No no it's fine. This Scorbunny just has some anger issues I'll still take it," I said this to reassure Professor Magnolia while holding off Scorbunny's from kicking me again. I surprise tackle Scorbunny and use its Pokéball to recatch it. My Rotomdex buzzes and opens up files with new information.

Scorbunny the fire bunny Pokémon. This Pokémon is female.

Ability: Libero

Move Set: Growl, Quick Attack and Ember.

Well, I guess Scorbunny will learn more moves on our journey. I grab the Rotomdex and put it back in my jacket pocket.

"Honey you can leave without me. I talked with Sonia and have decided to stay the night here with my family and go out tomorrow," Henry comes up to me and grabs my hand, "I know I promised to travel with you, but Sonia needs me."

This causes me to feel sad that my own parents could not see me off today. I know it has to do with Ash being born before his due date. That they planned to be here, but things happen.

I squeeze Henry's hand, "It's okay go spend the night with your family I'll be fine traveling by myself because I have Scorbunny to keep me company."

I leave before I could hear Henry's reply. I do this because I feel it would be easier this way. To leave him before I become too attached. I look at my Dynamax band that held the wishing star I found with Leon and Henry. Then the necklace that Leon gave me as a promise to be together forever. It is pretty cheesy to think about that.

I walk to the Wedgehurst train station. Passing by the Pokemon Center with people gathered outside cheering someone's name.

"Clover! Clover! You are the best!" It causes a ringing sound in my ear. Curious I walked over and see a blond hair blue eyed girl wearing a cute red dress.

"Yes, peasants I will become the most famous Pokémon trainer ever," Clover sweeps her eyes over the crowd as she says this.

I walk away after hearing this statement. Clover screams, "How dare you walk away when I am talking!"

"Look i don't care what you have to say I am leaving to catch my train. Goodbye whoever you are."

Clover screams in rage and tries to grab me but fails when Michio comes out of nowhere to drag me away.

"Honey what the heck were you thinking messing with Chairman Rosie's daughter. She could ruin your life with just one word to her father!" Michio whispers this into my ear while dragging me away.

Wait the chairman's daughter Clover. I did not put her into my novel she was just an idea. Arceus did not tell characters I did not write down would come to life. Does this mean that every character that I imagined for that story will be here and I do not even remember half of them!

Pulling me out of my thoughts was a hand landing on my shoulder.

"Ah Honey guess I beat you here," teases Aunt Kelly.

"Hey, Aunt Kelly, I was just about to look for you."

"Oh, sweetie it's fine I saw you on my way in," Kelly notices Michio and asks, "Who's this sweetie?"

"I'm Michio ma'am." Kelly whacks my arm after introducing herself to Michio.

"Well good luck on your journey and just so you know your parents really wanted to be here to see you off," Kelly hugs me goodbye and gives me a phone to call her with just in case.

I walk up to the train and look back. Behind me is Aunt Kelly waving goodbye with a simile directed to me. This is the start of a journey. My journey to gain all eight badges and travel every region to do the same. I smile and wave back and get on the train. When I sit down, I get a call. Checking my new phone, I see it's a call from my parents. I answer the phone. I see it's my mom calling.

"Honey Ketchum! Why did you not call me before you left young lady!" Delia Ketchum screams from the other side of the phone.

"Oh uh mom I was just about to call you. I just got on the train." I nervously avert my eyes from the phone.

"Do not give me excuses Honey. I know you because I raised you and you know you would have not called me until after the opening League ceremony!" Delia has her hand on her forehead.

"I'm sorry mom you know I forget sometimes that I need to calm you." Michio grabs me and gestures to our seats.

"Mom, I have to go okay. I love you."

"Young lady I am not done talking-" I end the call before she could finish talking.

Sighing I follow Michio to our seats. It should take an hour to get to Motostoke station. I settle down and fall asleep.

Michio shakes me awake. Startled I whacked him in the face. He stumbles back, "What the heck was that for."

"I'm so sorry Michio you just startled me," I make sure he is alright.

He pushes me away, "Hurry up we need to get to the stadium for the ceremony."

I run after him. Together we walked to the stadium. I see several buildings on our way. There are few people walking around with their Pokémon talking about the gym challenge this year. How the chairman's fifteen-year-old daughter will be joining and that there is someone sponsored by the chairman. A woman holding a white egg with blue and red triangles runs up to me.

"Please you have to help me. Someone is trying to take this Pokémon egg," The woman looks behind her panicked she shoves the egg in my hands, "Please do not let this egg get into the wrong hands. I will try my best to distract them before they arrive."

Before I could ask her what she meant by someone else trying to take the egg she ran away. A man walks out of the crowd. He is wearing a motorcycle outfit. Bumping into me I see the glare off his helmet. Ours eyes met and I felt dread when our eyes locked. Thankfully he walks away following where that woman went.

I look at the egg. I wonder what Pokémon will hatch from this. I put it with its incubator in the book bag. At least it fits in there.

Looking up I notice Michio left me to go into the stadium. Great he left me again guess I better hurry up. Wait a minute the ceremony should be starting in a few minutes. Oh no I'll be late if I don't hurry. Running into the stadium I see the ace trainer handing out uniforms. I run over to him.

"League sponsorship first please." I hand it over and he looks at it and approves of it.

"Okay what number do you want for your uniform."

I answer," I want number twenty-four please."

"Here you go kid. You better hurry up the ceremony is about to start." I grab my uniform and go to the bathroom to change. After putting on my uniform I run onto the field. I see Leon, Henry, Michio and Clover standing with the other gym challengers. I walk over to stand next to Leon.

The chairman walks out into the field," Hello people of Galar! This year is a brand-new year for the gym challenge. Now give a big warm welcome to this year's gym leaders!"

The crowd cheers loudly up in the stadium seating.

The Chairman continues," This year our first gym leader is Peony the steel type specialist" A man that looks like the chairman walks out onto the field waving.

"Our second gym leader is the ever-magnificent water specialist Magi!" A man wearing a Magikarp beany, white sunglasses, blue swim trunks, blue sandals with a toothpick in his mouth waves boldly to the crowd.

"Our third gym leader is ever fiery Kabu the fire type specialist!" An older man wearing the fire type gym outfit comes out and glances at Michio.

"Our fourth gym leader is the past champion fighting type specialist Mustard!" An older man comes out with his hands behind his back.

"Our fifth gym leader is ever elegant Opal the fairy type specialist!" A woman who looked older than Mustard walks onto the field with her cane.

"Our sixth gym leader is the ice type specialist Melony!" A woman decked out in heavy fur walks onto the field waving to the crowd.

"Our seventh gym leader is Adrian the psychic type specialist!" A young man wearing the psychic gym outfit with sunglasses walks onto the field ignoring the crowd.

"Our eight and final gym leader is Ryuusuke the dragon type specialist." An older man wearing the dragon gym uniform runs onto the field waving to the crowd.

"Now everyone I know you will be excited for this. Our champion of two years Bisck the bug and electric specialist is here!" The crowd cheers louder when a man wearing a combination of the electric and bug uniform walks onto the field.

"Now for the gym challengers to join us for the farewell!" I ran onto the field along with all the other challengers. I felt a sense of wanting to win this but looking over at Leon I know I could never be the champion.

Chapter Text

When I look at the gym leaders and the champion I only recognize about five of them from the pokemon games. I guess the other three are characters I made but forgot about. That is wonderful not knowing what kind of personality I gave them before this. Looking at the champion I don't even recognize him. I decide to leave and go catch another pokemon.

I walk down the path to the Wild Area. The reason I am going there is to hopefully befriend Scorbunny. It is unlikely Scorbunny will be nice at first.

I reach the Wild Area and look at Scorbunny's Pokéball. I walk a bit in and rest beside a lake. Okay here goes nothing. I press the release button and Scorbunny comes out.

"Scor Scorbunny," Scorbunny jumps up to kick me in face. I tried to dodge but slip and fall into the kick.

Scorbunny snickers and tries to use quick attack on me. I really should have thought through my plan better. Thankfully since Scorbunny was right next to me I was able to punch her before the move was started.

"Scor scor bub bunny," Scorbunny screeches into the ground after face planting. Which in turn makes me snicker because believe me it is hilarious to see this little bunny fall over after attacking me. Scorbunny flips over and glares at me.

"Scorbunny look I know you probably hate me but I'm your trainer now. We need to stop fighting okay so that together we can complete my mission to defeat Team Mafia. If we don't work together people and Pokémon will be killed off in the name of their version of world peace," I said this to help Scorbunny know what we will be facing together.

Scorbunny sighs and walks over to me. She helps me up and nods her head yes to helping me.

I feel relief knowing that I have a partner to share my knowledge with. It feels great to be able to travel with my new partner. Thankfully I do have knowledge of this world through the games, anime and the novel I wrote. Even if all that knowledge can be put to use since I am ten years before anime cannon.

Scorbunny pulls me out of my thoughts by tugging on my tights. I look down and smile.

"I guess it's time to start training, " I look around the area and spot a flock of Rookidee. I guess that there is around ten of them. Thankfully one of the Rookidee's are straying from the others.

"Okay Scorbunny I want you to use quick attack then ember on the Rookidee that is away from the others."

Scorbunny nods and uses quick attack on the Rookidee. Rookidee turns around right when Scorbunny runs into it. Enraged Rookidee uses home claw on itself to level up its attack and accuracy. Scorbunny uses ember at s close range and causes Rookidee to faint. I throw a pokeball to catch Rookidee. The ball shakes then the light dings signaling Rookidee is caught.

I hear a ding from my Rotomdex. Curious I open it up and it floats in the air in front of me.

Rookidee the small bird Pokémon. This Rookidee is male.

Nickname: ?

Level:10

Ability: Unnerve

Move Set: Hone Claws, Leer, Peck, Brave Bird and Power Trip.

Rotomdex then dings, "Congratulations you have earned the Pokémon leveling system! Moves are now automatically learned through a Pokémon leveling up. A Pokémon's level can go up by battles, training and special candy. Nicknames are also unlocked at this time. With nicknames comes the special attribute of being able to talk with Pokémon you have named yourself."

It reminds me of leveling up in the Pokémon video games. Well at least the levels do at least. Not the nicknames though it will prove useful to understand my Pokémon.

"I guess this is pretty good would you not say so Scorbunny?" Scorbunny shrugs and then looks up at me.

I look down at Scorbunny,"Also would you like a nickname of your own."

"Scor Scor bun bunny," Scorbunny nods her head at my statement.

"Okay what about the nickname Echo?"

Scorbunny nods her head yes to the nickname. Then I felt it a shock running down my spine when I feel a deeper understanding of my partner Echo.

Chapter Text

Echo talks to me for the first time,"Well can you understand me now human.'"

I'm pretty dumbfounded since I did not expect the nickname aspect to work right away.

"Are you going to answer me or should I hit you again," Echo threatens me.

"Yes Echo, I do understand you and my name is Honey not human."

"Alright Honey, I will trust you for right now because you know the Pokémon god's name. That does not mean you make all the decisions by yourself. The reason being we are partners and are stuck with each other for life," Echo grabs my tights to prove her point.

"What do you mean stuck for life?"

Echo huffs, "I mean that any Pokémon caught in a Pokéball has no choice but to stay with you until the day you either release us or you die. The Pokéball will be destroyed in either case. Until then I as a Pokémon has no choice but to obey and I can't even seriously harm you of any other humans. Do you finally see the reason why I don't like humans!"

This means that Pokémon have no will of their own. What does that mean for my career. Will I be catching Pokémon that don't want to be caught like Echo and Rookidee. Will I be separating families from each other forever until that family member is released. No, I refuse to be like other trainers. I will make sure from now that any Pokémon I catch will want to travel with me around the regions. I will never separate another family from their loved ones.

"Echo I'm sorry about what happened to you. Let's start over and become friends," I lean down and hold out my hand to Echo.

"Fine let's start over," Echo reaches out and shakes my hand. I feel relief at a fresh new start with Echo.

Now it's time to talk to our new teammate Rookidee. I take a Pokéball sighing press the button to release Rookidee. Rookidee comes out curious when he sees me, he seems happy.

It seems to me that my Pokémon both have very different reactions to seeing me for the first time. At least Rookidee is not attacking me at first seeing me unlike Echo. I sit down on the grass in front of Rookidee.

"Hi Rookidee I'm Honey your new trainer."

Rookidee flies up and gently lands on my lap. I gently pet Rookidee.

"Rookidee would you like a name of your own like me and Echo?" I point to myself and Echo as I say this.

Rookidee nods his head rapidly.

I chuckle,"Well what about the name Mercy. It means kind and just. Kinda like you little fella." I ruffle Rookidee's feathers while he thinks about whether or not he wants that name.

After a minute Rookidee nods his head yes to the name. I felt the bond snap in place and it feels wonderful. A new bond with a new friend.

Mercy looks up at me,"Hi I hope we will be friends for a long time!"

I smile," Yeah I hope so to Mercy. I hope that we make new friends here okay. Hey Echo come and meet Mercy our new teammate!"

Echo walks over sneering,"Hope your not weak after I defeated you Mercy."

Mercy somehow deadpans, "You do realize Echo that pokemon that can be seen by trainers want to be caught to become stronger. Just like how I allowed you Honey to catch me to help me evolve into a Corviknight."

Echo huffs,"Fine as long as you choose to be caught I will accept you as family. "

"Yes, indeed we are not just teammates but a family with our leader being Honey," Mercy jumps onto my head, "I hope this is fine with you Honey since I do heavily dislike being in that infernal Pokéball."

I stand up slowly making sure that Mercy would not follow up and walk over to grab my bag, "It's fine Mercy you can stay out of your Pokéball and Echo the same goes for you."

Pokémon nod in appreciation at being out of their Pokéballs. I set up camp, "Okay guys after I set up camp all of us will go out and search for any other Pokémon who would like to join us. Then we will train for the first gym by battling other Pokémon and by training new moves that either of you have learned."

"Ah Honey I do know of a few others who would love to join a trainer like you. It would take at two weeks to talk to them and to lead them here if that is something you do desire," Mercy offers to my surprise.

"If you are sure that would be great Mercy but I'm pretty surprised that you would offer to do that," Shocked I stop putting up the perimeter fence.

"Oh, it is nothing for there are a number of Pokémon wanting a trainer that will help them survive and help them to evolve," Mercy puffs out his chest.

"Okay then Mercy you see who wants to join while I stay here and train with Echo," I look at Echo when I say this.

"Then farewell Honey and Echo I shall see you in two weeks," Mercy says before flying off in the sky.

"Honey I will be practicing my new move Double Kick by beating up any pokemon who dares to come here to eat you. So do not disturb me today," Echo says before using Quick Attack to get away faster.

"What do you mean some Pokémon will eat me," I panicky chase after Echo.

Echo stops and turns around puts her paw on her forehead," I mean the predator Pokémon you idiot. Now go back to camp and try not to get yourself killed."

Echo then turns back to patrol the area. I guess I better head back before it gets dark. So I run back to camp. I sit down and take out the egg and check the incubator timer.

"You should be hatching in about two weeks. I guess it's a good thing I told Mercy to come back that day. I do wonder though what pokemon will you hatch into. Well one thing I do know for sure is I hope you are healthy and happy," I crawl into my tent to begin my own training for these two weeks.

I will be using weights to train myself to be able to keep up with my Pokémon. Hopefully everything will be alright with Mercy and Echo on their separate missions.

Chapter Text

The past two weeks has been hard on me and Echo. With all the predators lurking nearby and with one of those said predators destroying the perimeter fence. That fence cost me over P50,000. This really irks me to something I paid with my own money is now destroyed. At least my luxury tent was not destroyed that thing cost me over P200,000.

I practiced with my new weights to help me gain more strength in my arms and legs. This will help to be able to keep up with my team. It was also a great way to exercise that I have been doing since I was ten. I also ran close to West Lake Axewell to check the closest dynamax den. There has been little to no activity from the dens. Echo has slowly been warming up to me and we have become friends.

Echo also evolved into Raboot after beating the predator that has been stalking me on my runs around the lake. It was amazing seeing my friend evolve by defending my life. She leveled up to level 21 which is great for when we face the first gym. Echo also learned Flame Charge, Tackle and unlocked her egg move Super Fang.

I sit down by the lake with Echo right next to me. The egg being held in my hands while it slowly wiggles and glows in the sunlight.

"Echo I am glad you decided to stay here with me and help me deal with the upcoming gym challenge. I know you still don't like humans, and I accept that, but I want you to know that I will do my best to fix my mistakes. I will not let Team Mafia win and destroy the world as we know it. I know one part of their plans were catching the legendries and using them to create their version of world peace. That they already have three of them from here by now. I know it's all my fault Echo and I'm sorry about that."

Echo grips my hand softly saying," Honey it will be alright, and it is not entirely your fault for this happening. You told me yourself that you came here to save us, and you were sent by the Pokémon god. You have regrets and you are trying to fix this. At least you are trying unlike others. Honey none of this is entirely your fault."

I gently put the egg in front of me saying," Thank you Echo for saying that but I know from now on me and our team need to be stronger. That we will face many things but at least we have each other, right?"

Echo stares at the egg." Yes, we do. Now shut up the egg is hatching."

The egg glows a bright blue light and cracks open revealing a Togepi opening its eyes for the first time. I look at Togepi smiling when it comes up to me trying to crawl onto my lap. Echo smiles briefly before lifting her ears up towards the camp and jumps up to stand in front of me.

"Who's there I know I heard you, so come on out!" Echo screeches while keeping an eye out for any Pokémon could sneak attack. I grab Togepi and slowly walk back to camp with Echo circles us. We reached camp when something flies out and lands on my hair. Echo ties to bat it out of the air before she realizes it is Mercy.

"Mercy, I thought you were some predators that was coming to eat Honey and Togepi you idiot," Echo whacks Mercy when he flies off my head. It seems like he was happier.

Mercy whips his head," Oh but Echo my dear I was so excited to show you, my friends. That I forgot to call out before I landed on Honey's head."

Then Mercy hops over to bush," You can come on out lady and gentleman. No need to be scared this is Honey and Echo the ones I told you about."

Two heads poke out and slowly walk out of the bush. It was a Snorunt and shiny Espurr. Those two Pokémon should not be. Well at least the Espurr should not because there are no records of any Espurr being here in the past. Unless it was abandoned by its previous trainer.

"So, Mercy these are your friends. Where did you meet?" Echo grabs Mercy and lifts him up. I stand there in shock almost dropping Togepi.

"Tsk Echo you should know by now to control your temper." Mercy scolds Echo while still being held by her in way that would not allow him to fly away.

"I knew something was fishy about you when you were separate from the other Rookidee's when we first meet. Then again when the Rotomdex said you knew the move Brave Bird. Then when you brought two friends with you here and one of them is definitely not from the wild area. I knew you were previously owned by another trainer weren't you!" Echo shakes Mercy after she said that.

"Yes, I was previously owned by another trainer. He caught me and the friends I brought. He taught me Brave Bird through a TM along with a few other moves that Rotomdex will not reveal until Honey has at least three Pokémon. The reason me and the other two were out here in the wild area is because my previous trainer died by being ripped apart by the predators found here. When I was battling you, I purposely lost when I saw who your trainer was." Mercy says this while maintaining eye contact with Echo.

"What do you mean when you first saw Honey you lost on purpose!" Echo drops Mercy onto the ground.

"I mean I saw a trainer who will try their best to help me and my friends. That I will have another home." Mercy gets up and bows down in front of Echo." I am sorry that I tricked you Echo and Honey. I just wanted a trainer to help us reach our full potential."

Echo jumps back and pushes me forward," It's not me you have to ask forgiveness from."

Before Mercy could say anything, I say," Mercy I understand where you are coming from, and I promise to help you and your friends."

"Thank you for understanding Honey my dear. Now here are my friends who do not have names at this moment." Mercy goes over to the Snorunt and Espurr and push them towards me." You can catch them now if you so want."

I look at Togepi then Snorunt and Espurr. I guess I am catching three Pokémon today. I take out three Pokéballs from my belt pouch and throw them towards the Pokémon. All three Pokéballs ding and were caught. The Rotomdex flew out of my jacket pocket in front of me but before I could check it Henry runs out of the bushes at me grabs me and starts dragging me to the train station.

Henry why are you dragging me to the train station," I quickly return Echo and Mercy to inside their Pokéballs.

"There is no time Honey, Michio is in danger!" Henry pays for both tickets to Hulberry station and pushes me unto the train.

"What do mean Michio is in danger? No, the better question is why you left Michio by himself in danger you idiot?!" I slap Henry's mask which just so happens to be frowning with two eyebrows lifted above the eye holes and a sweet drop on the left side.

"Um well that biker guy wanted the person who has that egg that lady had. You know the one that was handed to you." The mask shifts to a disappointed look.

"Oh, and how did you know, and more importantly that biker know that I had the egg. By the way the egg hatched into Togepi." I lift my eyebrow at the thought of some stranger knowing that I have Togepi. I grip Togepi's Pokéball and look at it.

"Um Honey I was told by Michio when biker guy tracked us down for your Togepi. That guy is holding Michio hostage at Turffield. That is why we are going to Hulberry station so that we can walk there." Henry stands up and grabs me when the train whistle blew. We ran out of the station and made our way to Turffield.

It took us an hour to get there. Then we found a tall man decked out in black leather cloths with a black helmet that has a red visor. He is surrounded by four others dressed in leather leaning against their motorcycles. One of them has Michio tied up in rope on the ground.

"Well took you long enough to get here Henry. Did you bring me that very important egg. I sure hope so because if you didn't, I will kill this Michio. Unless of course you can beat me in a Pokémon battle." The man lifts up a single Pokéball twirling it on his index finger." Let's just say I'm itching for battle and so is my partner and hey for a bonus I will tell you the reason I want the egg. Oh, you can call me Hazel the ripper. Since I do tend to make a mess when I kill for the second in command of Team Mafia."

"What do you mean they call you mean you kill people and who is Team Mafia?" Henry asks. I feel something tighten up inside when I see Hazel. He must be part of the assassin branch of Team Mafia and works for the second command of the main family of it. That means that he was trained personally by someone in the family. That also means that the main family wants Togepi for something horrible. Oh, I am not giving up this baby for anyone especially not to Team Mafia!

"Oh, so you know about us, Honey, is it? I heard you mumbling under your breath. I also hear you have Togepi. So, if you don't want to battle hand over Togepi or your friend here will end up like that woman who gave you the egg. On the end of my blade chains. Now choose battle for your friend and Togepi or give us Togepi and your friend is let go. If you choose the battle though I will tell you why the second of command wants that Togepi. Also to make it a bit easier for you I will battle with my weakest Pokémon from my second team. Since I want a battle and not a massacre. You know what your friend can also battle me with you since my weakest is quite strong. My Pokémon do love challenges!" Hazel stops twirling his Pokéball and stares at me and Henry with anticipation coming off him," You better choose quickly I am not the most patient man."

"Henry, will you tag battle with me against Hazel to save Michio? To make sure that Togepi does not end up in the wrong hands. To have answers for why Team Mafia want Togepi." I look down at the grass while holding onto Henry's sleeve.

Henry lifts up my face," Honey you are my best friend, and I want answers too. I also want to help rescue Michio with you. So, Honey yes let's beat this guy!"

Me, Henry and Hazel all release our chosen Pokémon for this battle.

I release Echo onto the field," Echo you got this." Echo nods at my words then quickly whips her head around to face our opponent.

"I choose you battlefield!" Henry releases Sobble onto the battlefield.

"Voltorb come on out to battle." Hazel flicks his Pokéball to release Voltorb onto the field.

"You know what to make this even better I will limit myself to using four moves while you can use as many as you want." Hazel looks at the field where the battle will take place," Now Voltorb use Sonic Boom." Voltorb vibrates then releases a shock wave that caused Echo and Sobble to fly back a few feet.

"Sobble use Water Pulse on Voltorb!" Henry points his finger at Voltorb his mask changed to have a smirk and a raised eyebrow on it. Sobble's tears came together to form a circular blast on water that hit Voltorb.

"Echo use Quick Attack." Echo uses quick attack and slams her body onto Voltorb. Then proceeds to jump back on the other side of the field.

"You think that will hurt Voltorb well then Voltorb use Thunderbolt on Sobble and Echo!" Voltorb releases a flash of electric energy on the other Pokémon. This move causes Echo to fall over paralyzed on the ground. Sobble barely holds off the paralyzing effect of Thunderbolt.

"Sobble come on buddy you got this use Bind." Sobble cries again and his tears start to flow around Voltorb and Bind surprisingly was effective on Voltorb. Voltorb shudders with rage at the tears binding it.

"Echo try to use Ember." Echo barely lifts her head up and tries to use Ember but because of where she is the Ember does not hit Voltorb.

"Voltorb use Explosion on Echo." Voltorb was harmed by the teary Bind before it could attack Echo. Voltorb was close to Echo and used Explosion. It caused Echo to fly through the air and land on the ground. Echo is covered with burn marks all over her body. She is barely awake trying to her best to fight off the need to faint.

"Sobble use Aqua Jet." Sobble enraged cries angry tears that became Aqua Jet on Voltorb. It causes Voltorb to be pushed back halfway across the field. When I look again Voltorb is unconscious.

I quickly return Echo to allow her to heal in her Pokéball. Henry does the same thing by returning his Sobble. We stand side by side when Hazel approach's us from across the field with his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Well, I guess you won. Oh well there is always next time. Voltorb return you did great out there. A promise is a promise, and I am a man of my word. The reason why your Togepi is of such great interest to Team Mafia is because it is currently the only successful experiment. This Togepi when it was an egg was used to see if it is possible to give Pokémon another typing than it would naturally have. Also, it was pumped full of the psychic energy by the most powerful psychics that could be found. It should have given Togepi a psychic typing that it would keep when it evolves. It should have three typing's when it evolves. The reason why this was done is to see if it is possible for Pokémon to have three typing's instead of the usual two. Along with having this Pokémon at a higher level than it should naturally when it hatches." Hazel waves his hand and jumps onto a motorcycle," Well I guess this is goodbye but be warned I will get that Togepi eventually. Also, here you can have your friend back." Michio is thrown in front of us while the motorcyclists leave.

Henry grabs Michio and starts to untie him. Henry's mask is a frowny face with the eyebrows arched.

"Michio are you okay?!" Henry shakes Michio after the final rope was undone. Michio whacks Henry's hands off him.

"I am fine you idiot. I was just pretending to be hurt so that I could surprise attack Hazel." Michio grabs Henry and puts him in a choke hold.

"Wow wow calm down Michio we had no idea you were planning to do that. What about you put Henry down and let's try to talk civilly." I try to pry Michio's hands off of Henry's neck.

Michio let's go of Henry saying," Tch, Henry come on we need to go challenge the next gym leader. Honey see you later in Hulbury."

Henry walks after Michio then turns his head to face me," Bye Honey I guess I will see you at Hulbury where I will challenge you!" Henry and Michio run off before I could reply.

Well, I guess I am battling Henry at Hulbury. Wait I better get to the Pokémon center. I look at Echo's Pokéball and make my way to the Turffield Pokémon center. When I get there, I see a few trainers waiting for Pokémon to be healed. I walk up to one of the trainers after I gave Echo's Pokéball to Nurse Joy.

"Hey why are there so many people here waiting to have their Pokémon healed?" I sit down next to a trainer who is waiting near the Pokémart stand.

"Haven't you heard the first gym leader has been demolishing trainers left and right. So far only seven people have beaten the gym. The rest of us tried but we were not strong enough." The trainer grips a Pokéball in his hand.

"Well, that number will go up to eight then when I beat the gym." I walk over to Nurse Joy when she calls my name. I grab Echo's Pokéball and walk out the door but before I walked out, I heard a shout.

It was from the trainer I was talking to earlier," I'm warning you don't come crying to me when lose!"

I stop at the door," No I won't lose because I believe in myself and my Pokémon. We have trained ourselves for this and I made a promise to them that we would become stronger. Even if we lose my Pokémon, and I will just train harder, and try again. Unlike you who is sitting there mourning losing one time I am determined to win this for not just me but my Pokémon." Then I walk out leaving that trainer speechless along with the others who were in there having there Pokémon healed.

I release all my Pokémon onto the ground halfway to the gym," Okay guys we are going to the first gym to challenge it. Now before we go Snorunt, Espurr, Togepi would you like to have names of your own?"

The three I asked nodded their heads for wanting their own names.

"Togepi would you like the name Leilani which means heavenly flower." Togepi flaps its arms at the name in acceptance. I felt the bond click in place and felt the pure love Leilani has for me.

"Mama mama!" Leilani chirps. Aw honestly this has made my day being able to understand Leilani.

I look at Snorunt and think for a moment and see it dancing around," Snorunt would you like the name Minuet it means slow graceful dance." Snorunt twirls and trills when she hears the name. The bond snaps into place, and I feel joy.

"I love to dance, and to have a name that means to dance is great!" Minuet twirls around Espurr.

The last one now that needs a name. I look closely and notice how Espurr seems to be comfortable near everyone. This is strange since psychic types are usually shy when they first are introduced to new Pokémon and trainer.

I got an idea," Espurr would you like to be named Balwin? The name means brave protector." The Espurr nods his head at the name. The bond snaps into place with a feeling of calmness flowing through.

"Thank you, Honey, for giving me, Minuet and Mercy the chance to be caught. Hopefully we will go far together." Balwin crosses his arms when he says this. I smile then leaning forward grab my new friends into my arms.

"No, I should the one to be thanking all of you for being here. Now we are going to be battling the gym here. Who wants to battle the gym with me?" I grab Echo and Mercy and pull them into the group hug.

Balwin speaks first," I would love to be to battle for you Honey and I want to beat my opponent!"

"Balwin thank you so much! Now who else wants to battle?" I still have not let my Pokémon out the group hug. Since it feels great to be able to have a group hug.

Echo rolls her eyes," Honey of course I am going to be battling you idiot. Now let me and the others go, you are squeezing the life out of me!" I quickly let Echo and the rest down.

Sorry I was so excited for this! Now come on ladies and gentlemen lets go beat that gym!" I return all the Pokémon but Mercy. I let him settle on my head.

When I go inside, I walk over to the back to the man at the counter." I'm here to challenge the gym."

The man looks at me," Go to the changing room then proceed to the gym challenge. Also, your Rookidee can be outside its Pokéball but just make sure it does not create a mess." Mercy scoffs at what the man said about him creating a mess. After I change into my challenger uniform, I go to the man standing at the back to start the challenge.

This man tells me," Okay challenger for the gym challenge you have to answer three questions about steel types. If you answer correctly, you can go on to the next question. If you lose though you have to battle the gym trainer who asked the question." I psych myself up I got this. I know riddles and if I don't know the answer, I always have Echo to beat them. I walk through the door onto a stage.

I am face to face with a man wearing the steel type gym uniform. He smirks when he sees me.

"Hey, another newbie trying to beat the gym leader. Well then newbie first question which Pokémon is the only steel and fairy type as of right now." The man pulls out a Pokéball probably thinking I would not know the answer. Oh, he is so wrong I studied all this before I went on my journey.

"It's Mawile the only Pokémon know to date as being a steel fairy type with steel primary and fairy secondary." I look the man in the eyes when I say this.

The man's eyes widen," Well guess you passed the first question kid." He walks off the stage and a woman step up to ask the next question.

"Now kid how many Pokémon are classified as having steel type either as a primary or secondary." The woman prepares to release her Pokémon. Oh gosh I know this I look at Mercy and the answer pops in my head.

"The answer is currently sixty-four." When I say this the woman steps off the stage and a man replace her. It was not the same man as before. This man has his Pokémon out and ready to fight me. The Pokémon was a Beldom.

"Last question challenger, which steel type is a part of the flying service here in Galar." The man looks at me as if I don't know the answer.

"Is it Corviknight." I smirk at the man when he stomps his way off stage. I walk to the other side of the curtain. I see the door right in front of me and walk through it. I walk through a barely lit tunnel leading the way to the field. When I get at the end of the tunnel, I see a field that made entirely of metal with the lines drawn on it. I feel the rush of excitement feeling me when I see the gym leader Peony waiting on the field. I walk over to the gym leader Peony.

When I reach the gym leader, he holds out his hand," Welcome challenger to the most fantastic gym ever, the steel type gym of Turffield!" He screams this while posing for the crowd. We shake hands then go on opposite sides of the field.

The crowd cheers loudly from the stands. Waiting for the battle to start. I feel more pumped when Mercy cheers me on with the crowd. I feel more confident knowing that my Pokémon want to win just as much as me.

The ref stands at the sidelines," Challenger Honey of Pallet Town has come to challenge gym Leader Peony. Now the rules are that this is a two vs two Pokémon battle. Only the challenger may substitute their Pokémon during the battle. Now let's begin trainers release your Pokémon!" He waves a flag in the air signaling the start of the battle.

Gym leader Peony releases his Pokémon onto the field," Aron come on out show us how pumped you are to win this!" Aron strikes a pose and screams for the crowd above to hear. The crowd cheers louder at this display.

I press the release button on Balwin's Pokéball," Balwin come on out and battle!" Balwin poses for the crowd by lifting one of his arms up to the sky. Then his pink fur shines in the light.

"Now Balwin use Iron Tail!" Balwin rushes forward his tail unfurling becoming as hard as iron when it hits Aron. Aron is nocked back a few feet from the hit and looks to be heavily damaged.

"Well lucky shot kid, now Aaron use Headbutt!" Aron shakes off the effects of Iron Tail and whacks Balwin in the stomach. Balwin double overs in pain gasping.

"Balwin you can do it use Confusion!" Balwin smirks and uses a psychic blast to confuse Aron. Aron starts stumbling around in confusion from the attack.

Peony looks worried," Aron buddy you are fantastic I know you can shake off Confusion!" Aron after hearing its trainer tried to come out of its Confusion but the psychic attack was to strong.

"Now let's finish this Balwin use Iron Tail again!" Balwin is close enough this time and delivers a hard hit that forces Aron into the ground. The dust clears and Aron can be seen on the ground passed out.

Peony," Good job Aron! Now let's go Ferrothorn show them who's the best!" He returns Aron and releases Ferrothorn onto the field. I look at Balwin and see him holding his stomach. I need to switch him with Echo.

I hold out two Pokéball's," Balwin return have a good rest. Now come on out Echo!" Echo is released out of her Pokéball and observes the field.

The ref blows the whistle," Since the challenger has chosen to substitute Pokémon the gym leader may have the first move." The crowd is stilling cheering on above my head.

Peony grabs the Pokéball and with a big smile," Now let's see how you can handle dynamaxing!" The Pokéball grows to a larger size after Ferrothorn was returned. He threw the Pokéball into the stadium. Ferrothorn has grown huge and has dynamax clouds over its head.

Well, I guess that means Echo needs to dynamax if we stand a chance at beating him. I do the same thing he did with his Ferrothorn with Echo. I look at my partner and we both nod to each other. This is a battle of giants, but we have this.

Peony goes first," Ferrothorn use Max Steelspike!" A large spike comes out of the ground harming Echo. Echo is barley phased by this.

"Echo use Max Knuckle!" Echo roars and it creates a large fist in the air that crushes Ferrospike. The Ferrospike becomes unconscious. The crowd cheers harder from the stands. Echo returns to her regular size and hugs me.

Peony comes up to me," Well kid I guess you won. Here is the steel gym badge." He hands me a piece of metal with steel type gym logo printed on it.

"Kid you almost beat as quickly as that Leon fellow. Almost forgot here is TM Smart Strike. Now keep at kid since it will only get harder from here. Also here is my league card and don't forget that all battles are recorded live!" Peony walks off waving at the crowd with a big grin on his face.

Oh no that means mom saw my battle and will be calling me later today. Well, no time to think about that I need to get to Hulbury to challenge the next gym. Before that though I have a battle with Henry to win.

After deciding to spend the night at the Pokémon center and I give Balwin's Pokéball to Nurse Joy hoping that he will be okay. When I get to my room, I release my other Pokémon to play. When I sit down, I hear a ring coming from my phone. I'm screwed so screwed I bet this is either mom or dad calling. Before picking up the phone I tell Echo to lead the others out to the field outside. Okay I got this and answer the phone.

"Honey, sweetie I saw that you won your first gym battle. I am so proud of you." I see my mom, Delia Ketchum, holding Ash close to her." Now Honey meets your brother Ash who I tried to introduce to you two weeks ago, but you rudely hung up on me."

I laugh nervously," Good to talk to you mom and it's great to see Ash. I'm sorry I hung up on you two weeks ago. I was in the wild area and had no connection where I was. I also have four more Pokémon."

Mom stares at me then brightly smiles," Honey call me more often since you are going to be gone for six months for the gym challenge. I still don't understand why you choose to have your first gym challenge in Galar instead of Kanto."

I look in the eyes dead panning," Mom I wanted to be with my friends here in Galar for my first gym challenge." I hear a knock at the door.

"Mom I'm sorry to cut this short again but I have to go. Someone's at my door." My mom gives a wave goodbye telling me to call again soon. I stand up and walk to the door and open it. Standing right outside my door is Clover. Great the spoiled princess is here.

"Nurse Joy told me that there were no rooms left. She told me I had to share a room with someone else." Clover looks horrified at the thought of sharing a room with another person.

"Okay then why are you here knocking on my door." I try to close the door, but Clover grips the door and forces her way in. Her three female attendants come in right after her. They set her bags down on the second bed in the room.

"Wait I never said you could come in Clover." I mumble this under my breath. I go to push her out of the room when I remember what Michio told me. To mess with Clover in any way would have me kicked out the league. "Clover, I guess you can stay if you promise not to touch my journal."

"Do you mean this journal. What secrets are you hiding Honey." She grabs my journal and turns to a random page. Thankfully from what I can see she flipped to my research page on how the nickname aspect helps Pokémon and humans' bond faster. That these bonds are stronger than bonds formed when a trainer cannot understand what a Pokémon is saying. Even when the human and trainer have a strong bond it can be strained without communication being clear to both parties.

"Oh, seems like you're a nerd but you do have good ideas in this. I might as well try it myself. Grokey come on out!" She sneers and throws my journal on my bed. Then Clover takes out a pokeball that has a green leaf painted on it and releases Grokey.

"Grokey let's see what about the name Drum." The Grokey jumps up and down in joy accepting the name. Clover grabs her chest and eyes pop open. The bond settling in place between her and Grokey. This is the first time I have seen a bond form after a nickname was used for the first time by someone else. I grab my journal and write down what I observe. Professor Oak will love this when I report in after the next gym battle.

The attendants look on and do not interfere. Clover grabs Drum and hugs him.

"Well, I guess you were right nerd about how the bond feels after it falls into place. I can understand Drum on a different level than I could before." She turns around to face the attendants." I will be traveling with this Honey to be able to understand more about this world. You can tell my father this and I promise I will be safe."

Before the attendants could protest Clover shoots them a glare. They bow and walk out the door. The only thought in my head during all this is I do not want this spoiled brat as a traveling companion.

"Clover are you sure about this? You know that I want to explore and challenge the gyms right. That we will be outdoors for quite a bit of time camping." I try to reason with her. Honestly hoping she will change her mind.

You mean we will be camping on the ground instead of taking the Corviknight cabbie. Count me out then I do not want to mess up my clothes at all." Clover shudders at the thought of being dirty. I feel relief at knowing that I will not be traveling with this brat. That I will be left alone with my Pokémon without any brat complaining about everything.

Clover goes to bed after saying this. I go outside to get my team. My Pokémon came running up to me and were returned to their Pokéball's. I also go downstairs to receive Balwin's Pokéball. Tomorrow will be a full day of exploring before I arrive at Hulburry gym. I get into bed for the night dreaming.

I wake up the next morning to see the sun rising up. I make sure to get everything ready to leave right away. I make sure to leave quietly to make sure that if Clover changed her mind that she could not join me. I sneak out and let Mercy and Echo out of their Pokéball's once I no longer see the Pokémon center. Echo huffs following after me while Mercy settles down in my hair. It's a new start of a new day without any spoiled brats ruining the day for me.

A voice comes from behind me," Wait I need to talk with you." Nope I am not waiting for whoever the heck that is. I run as if my life is on the line. Well, it actually might be on the line with someone chasing after me. It turns out whoever was chasing me was pretty fast. Whoever was chasing me grabbed me yanking me and turned me around to face them. Echo jumps and tries to attack whoever was doing this but out of the corner of my eyes I see a light green blur something jumps out and protect that person who grabbed me.

I see a young man grinning," Hey I wanted to thank you for what you said at the Pokémon center about believing in yourself and in your Pokémon. I took what you said and won my match yesterday. I want to travel with you and to become stronger by beating you one day. By the way I won't take no for an answer." Echo and the strange Pokémon stop fighting after I signal Echo to stop.

"Look I do not want a traveling companion but seeing how you are most likely going to be following me anyway if I do tell you no, I guess you can come along. Also, my name is Honey Ketchum and this is Mercy and Echo. What is your name?" I gesture to Mercy and Echo introducing them to the teen.

He grabs his Pokémon," Well my name is Rain Everstone and this my partner Trapinch. It is really great to be able to travel with you Honey!" Wait a minute this is Rain Everstone one of the rival companions I made that travels with the main character to defeat Team Mafia. That means that he will follow me no matter what happens to me on my journey. His Trapinch is also considered a failure by Team Mafia because it was a different color than it was supposed to be. It was deemed this because of Team Mafia's goal to have Pokémon with a third typing to be unnoticeable from their regular counterparts.

I hope that this is not going to be a mistake bringing someone I don't know on my journey. I walk off with my new traveling companion to Hulbury. It took a few hours and Rain made lunch for me and the Pokémon. Honestly it was the best food I have ever had in my two lifetimes of experience and that is saying something since I used to travel to be able to try new food.

Rain showed me that his light green Trapinch and his Caterpie. He tells me that he was hoping to become a Pokémon breeder and about his love for bug type Pokémon. That champion Bisck is actually his brother who helped put their family Pokémon breeder ranch on the maps. Then proceeded to talk about Bisck the whole way to Hulbury. It honestly became quite annoying to hear about how great Bisck and bug type Pokémon are.

He stopped once Hulbury was in sight giving me a chance to take in the sights. Echo walks slightly in front of me and Rain. I see someone I honestly thought I would not see for a whilile Hazel. He was sitting on the wall outside Hulbury.

"Well, if it isn't Honey and I see you have someone new traveling with you. I see your companion has one of the failed experiments. Just like the gym leader here has three such failures since those Pokémon did not look like what they regularly should be like. This came in the form of their coloring being off due to the typing it was given. Unlike your Togepi Honey that is exactly the same as its counterparts in the wild that only has two typing's. Enough about that that though real reason I came to warn you is that you will fail at the next gym battle if you don't take it seriously now goodbye." Hazel flips into the air landing behind the wall. I quickly run to see where he was only to see him waving his hand while riding off in the distance on the street on his motorcycle.

Rain rubs his eyes," Well I always thought Trapinch was special, Guess I was right." He shrugs his shoulders then proceeds to walk off to the Pokémon center. I follow him worried if Hazel will be showing up every time I go to a new city. Then I worry about what Pokémon the gym leader has and not knowing if he will the Pokémon that have a typing they should not have. Even though I think this hope flares inside when Echo and Mercy look at me with confidence in their eyes. Just knowing that they believe in me is enough to have those doubts fade into the background.

Rain shows me to the room he got from Nurse Joy for me and the one he has across the hallway. Once I reach my room, I let the rest of the Pokémon out of their Pokéball's. Minuet comes out with a twirl and then starts to dance across the room. Balwin looks ready to beat up someone when he comes out. Leilani rans to me with screeches of mama on repeat. Chuckling I pick up Leilani and leave the room to find where Henry could be.

The rest of my Pokémon follow after with Echo making sure that Balwin and Minuet do not wander off. Rain comes out of his room following me when I wonder around the town. I see Pokémon with people wandering around preparing for something. I go up to a person to ask what the town is preparing for.

"Oh, this third annual water Pokémon celebration that gym leader Magi has every January. It is a celebration that celebrates the end of the water type Pokémon war after Magi stopped it before he became gym leader two years ago. People here usually dress in water type poekmon clothes that help symbolize the two warring factions in the turf war the Magicarp gang and Arrokuda gang or in water type Pokémon clothing. You are just in luck that the celebrations are tonight, and that gym leader Magi participates in the town square play that commemorates the end of the gang war by Magi." The older woman walks off and I finally notice that people here are dressed as Magicarp and Arrokuda clothing or wearing something with water type Pokémon themes." says a young woman.

Then the woman says," For all people visiting there are costumes for free at the local restaurant. Do not forget that everything is free during this festival. The reason being that the gym leader pays for everything out his own money. Then anything left over is donated to the local orphanage," The woman puts up a Magikarp lantern over her stall.

I go to the restaurant with Rain to grab our and our Pokémon's costumes for the festival. I wear a Magikarp dress and Rain dresses up as a white Garados. All of our pokemon are dressed up as Magicarp. Then we walk around town for the festival. It was amazing seeing people wearing various outfits that fit the theme of water Pokémon. I can even see Pokémon dressed alongside their partners. It was beautiful with the lanterns twinkling along with lights from outfits and Pokémon.

Then I see a tall person wearing a Magicarp outfit that covers their whole body and face skipping in the street headed towards the town center most likely to see the play. Well then again people are dressed up as Pokémon. Some even fully dressed as their chosen water type. The person is accompanied by a woman with short pink hair in a blue dress. A man with dark blue hair dressed as a Magikarp. Along with a Morepeko with a Psyduck hat on.

A jolt rushes down my spine when I see those three with that person. I know those three from the story and strangely they look like Jessie and James from Team Rocket. Then the crowd grows thicker, and I am unable to spot them again. Rain pulls my attention away from the crowd to tell me the play is about to start.

We quickly rush to see the play and I see Henry, Michio, Sonia and Leon near the back. I grab Rain's hand and making sure our Pokémon are following I go to sit beside Leon. When I get to him, he sees me and grins. He scoots over to make room for me, Rain and the Pokémon. After we sat down the lights dim, and the gym leader walks out onto the stage.

"Hey welcome to the play that was produced, directed and lead by me the local town hero and gym leader Magi. Now everyone the play is about to start so silence your phones and Pokédex's. Otherwise, I will personally come to deal with you. Now enjoy the show." His face darkens when he threatens the crowd then brightens again when he leaves for the play to begin.

I almost gasped when I see Hazel in the play as the rival gang leader. Honestly it should not surprise me at this point that he is here but still it does. Then Leon hands me a cherry soda and some snacks he took from Henry. Henry leans over and I can see his mask it has a puppy dog look begging for food. Well to bad Henry, I see you are literally in a snack surrounding you and honestly the only part of you I can see is your mask. I shack my finger no and see Henry's mask looking so sad. Honey, I tell myself do not give in so I do the only logical thing I can do and give it to Leilani, who is sitting on my lap.

Then I turn my attention towards the play. It told the story of how Magi at the age of fourteen saved Hulbury from the gangs, poverty, corruption and their pervious gym leader. How people here were so poor they could only afford to live if they joined one of the gangs. Education was only available when the corrupt gym leader gave out gym badges to people who bought them. How the gym leader pays the gangs to terrorize the people of this region.

That normal people were not allowed to have Pokémon until one day a young boy caught a white Magikarp. That same person single handedly saved the people of Hulbury with his Magikarp. That same boy came back and made Hulbury the way it is today instead of ruined buildings and changed the fact that if you weren't in a gang, you were poor. Hulbury became a place under the protection of Magi who became the gym leader because of all of what he did for Hulbury even when he almost died because of it.

Honestly it was an aspiring play that Magi put on at the end of January since he became gym leader. Then my mood was ruined when I saw Hazel up on the stage.

After the play ended, I walked with Leon to see the sights after promising Rain to meet him at the Pokémon center around midnight. I returned all my Pokémon except Leilani. I walk with Leon and see the festival. We both played a few games, and Leon won me a Charmander plushie. I won him a cape that seemed familiar until I saw him put it on. It was the cape he wore when he becomes champion.

When Leon ran off a bit ahead of me, I feel something touch my shoulder. When it touches me, I feel dread as if a predator is about to jump on me and rip me to pieces. I turn my head around my hands tightening on Leilani trying to keep her quiet when I hear her whimper. I know if she does anything we are both are going to die.

When I finally face the thing that touched me, I see the person I saw with Team Mafia members behind me. It is a person that taller than me and seems to be unnaturally skinny. It was the person wearing a Magikarp outfit with a mask covering their face. Their unnatural orange eyes pierce me before looking at Leilani.

A deep male voice whispers," Hi I'm Psy-Psy and was wondering where you got your Togepi? My older brothers are looking for one that looks just like yours." His voice sounds cheerful, but I was given the feeling that he would take Leilani and kill me if he had the chance.

"I was given her egg as a surprise." I try to pull myself out of his grip, but he tightens his hands at that movement.

"Oh is that so well you see I really like that Togepi. Why don't you give it to me. I might even let you live if you do." The mask tilts and one hand loosen and touches my face.

I bite him and was let go. I run as fast as I can and try to find Leon. I find him almost immediately after I get away from Psy-Psy. When I look around, I see people who were closer to where Psy-Psy was seem to act like robots. Their faces are blank with no emotions.

Leilani nips my fingers bringing me out of my thoughts. At least I made sure she was not taken by Psy-Psy. Leon sees me and waves me over.

"Honey are you okay? You blanked out for a second there when that guy came over." Leon cheeks me over trying to make sure I am okay. I push his hands away from me making sure to still keep a grip on Leilani.

"Leon I'm fine but I think we should leave the festival." Leon nods in agreement and we both go to the Pokémon center. We separate and go to our separate rooms. I release all my Pokémon when I get into my room after I lock the door.

"Echo Team Mafia is here and I am worried that they will try to do something before we leave." I say this while making sure everything is secure in the room.

"Honey, you have all of us and we will protect you and Leilani. So, get some sleep before the battles tomorrow." Echo pushes me towards the bed seeing the circles underneath my eyes.

I try to protest," Echo I need to be awake because we don't know what Team Mafia is planning!"

Echo rolls her eyes," Honey that is something we all have to worry about together. If it makes you feel better, we will take shifts sleeping tonight starting with me and ending with you." She pushes me back onto my bed making sure to be gentle to not disturb Leilani

I reluctantly agree even though I feel like something awful will happen if I fall asleep.

Chapter Text

When I fell asleep, I feel light. I feel something whack my face. When I wake up, I feel like I have just escaped from something dangerous. The only thing I can remember is emotionless orange eyes. Trying to forget about that I turn around to see who woke me up. I see a grinning green mask at the right side of my bed. Surprised I fell off the bed.

"Echo why the heck is Henry in my room?!" I turn to ask Echo who is eating some berries.

"Finally your awake. Your friend with the green mask here wanted to wake you up and have a battle." Echo says this and I quickly get up.

"Echo that does not explain why you let him in!" I scream this while rushing to the bathroom to change my clothes.

"Well, your friend gave me food to let him in, so I took the bribe and let him in." Echo shrugs her shoulders and goes back to eating. She is also hitting away Balwin and Minuet from her food. She does give Mercy a berry when she sees him.

Really it seems like Echo will be easily bribed by food now. That is wonderful to know if I ever need her to do something she would not want to do. I change into my trainer outfit and come out of the bathroom.

I raise my eyebrow," Henry could you have not waited to battle me after I woke up."

The mask brightens," Nope now come on let's go battle!"

I grin rolling my eyes," Well I guess this will be our first battle against each other Henry. Let's see who's the better trainer me or you"

"Yup and guess what Honey I will win this! Also, just so you know I am better than you since I have beaten two gyms so far" Henry leads me to the battlefield out back in the Pokémon center. I bring Echo with me for the battle and leave the rest of my Pokémon in my room. I do this to allow them to rest after everything that happened yesterday. When we get to the field, I see Rain is waiting there to ref the battle. He looks like he just woke up since he is still wearing his pj's from last night. Honestly did Henry wake up Rain to ref the game.

"Now this will be a one v one battle with no substitutions." Rain says this with a yawn. His Trapinch bites him when he looks like he is about to fall asleep causing to Rain to jump. I could tell it was a playful bite not meant to draw blood or harm.

"Echo come on out and battle." I say this and Echo nods jumping onto the field.

"Eevee it's your time to shine." Henry flicks his Pokéball out on the field. A little shiny Eevee pops out of the Pokéball with a yawn.

Okay Honey you can have the first move since I did challenge you." Henry crosses his arms his mask has a cocky expression. Well Henry you are going to lose now.

I look at Echo both of us grin at each other. " Echo, you know what to do."

Echo nods and then uses Quick Attack. She rushes at Eevee and uses the Quick Attack to headbutt it in the stomach. Then she quickly dashes away to avoid Eevee's Tackle.

"Honey you are not the only one who trained their Pokémon to attack using hand signals and cue words." Henry mask's grin widens when he says this.

"Well, that means it is more of a challenge then. Echo, you got this use our favorite combo."

Echo with a grin uses Quick Attack followed by Flame Charge. White energy surges together with a brilliant red that surrounds Echo. Echo's Quick Attack combined with Flame Charge gave her a boost when she rushed at Eevee. It caused Eevee to not be able to dodge at the last second. Eevee is thrown against the wall when Echo collided with it.

"Eevee no use Swift!" Tears appear on Henry's mask when he sees his Eevee crash into the wall.

Eevee when it heard its trainer came out of the wall with stars flying out of its tail. The stars flew toward Echo so fast that she could not dodge out of the way. It caused a small explosion of dust to form when it impacted with Echo. When the dust cleared with relief, I could see Echo was heavily harmed by Swift.

"Echo, you got this use Super Fang." I point at the field. Energy formed around Echo's mouth and when she rushed and bite the Eevee it fainted.

Henry nervously laughs," Well I guess you won this round but next time but next time I will win. I will prove that I am a better trainer than you." He walks over and we shake hands. Then we hear an explosion coming from the Pokémon center.

Chapter Text

I run into the Pokémon center worried about what is happening. Oh no I left Leilani and the others by themselves. I bet that it is Team Mafia trying to Pokénap Leilani. I run faster not even looking behind me to see if Echo, Rain or Henry followed. I bust into my room and see a light pink haired woman, who I assume is Jane, trying to pick up Leilani. I see Mercy flying around her using Peck when she gets too close to Leilani. Then I see Balwin battling a dark blue haired man, most likely Jayden, and his Wooloo. Then I see Minuet fighting off a Morepeko that is wearing a Magikarp hat.

I feel dread at this scene and run in to grab Leilani. The woman stops and looks at me with bright blue eyes filled hate. When I get the chance, I see she is wearing a black outfit with a gold capital m symbol on the front. The woman looks at me and tries to grab Leilani again. Thankfully Mercy is there, and he uses Peck again. The woman looks to fed up with this.

The woman," Now pest tell your Pokémon to stop otherwise I will blow up the building." She pulls out a trigger which I assume is for the bomb.

"Guys and lady stop let's see what this woman wants." I still am holding onto Leilani when I say this and slowly back my way to the door to escape. Mercy gives me a look of concern and flies over to land on my head to perch. Minuet and Balwin stop attacking then come over to stand in front of me.

The man," Ah Jane, is this the pest you told me about earlier called Honey?" He is wearing a male version of the outfit that Jane is wearing. He walks over to stand next to the Jane followed by his Wooloo.

"Yes Jayden, this is the pest who's Togepi we need to capture for the second in command. Now pest will you give us the Togepi or will I have to blow up the building?" Jane at Jayden rolling her eyes.

That is when Mercy whispers to me," Lady Honey they do not have any bombs here they are lying. I know this because when they came in, they complained about how their budget could only pay for the small explosive that they used to get inside." When I heard this, I felt relief that the building will not be blown up by those people.

The Morepeko growls," Shut up ya stupid bird. Jane, Jayden quick the pest knows that the bomb ploy is fake. I told ya that you should have saved up for a real bomb instead of going on a shopping spree!" Jane hearing these releases a Pidove to fight. Jayden rolls his eyes at the complaint. The only thing I can think of is how a Pokémon that actually knows how to talk to people without having a nickname. Then the door bursts open to reveal Henry, Echo and Rain.

I feel relief to see my friends and Echo coming to help me. Henry sends out his Drizzile when he sees the situation I'm in. Rain has his Trapinch out like he did earlier.

"Great more pests to fight." Jane growls this out and tells her Pidove to attack. Jayden does the same thing with his Wooloo.

I quickly tell Mercy to battle the Pidove while Balwin deals with the Wooloo. Rain and Henry battle Jayden while I focus on Jane.

"Mercy use Brave Bird on Pidove." I make sure to back up away when Mercy dives to attack Pidove. The Pidove is thrown out of the destroyed wall. Jane pales and runs away when she sees her Pokémon is taken out quickly.

Jayden's Wooloo used Rollout on Rain's Trapinch. The Trapinch dodged then used Bite. The Bite knocked Wooloo out. Jayden returned his Pokémon then ran away.

Morepeko did not even tried to fight Henry's Pokémon. Instead, it threw a smoke bomb. It disappeared along with the other Pokémon.

"Well, that was an underwhelming battle." Henry rubs his frustrated faced mask.

"Yeah, it could have been a lot harder." Rain rolls his eyes.

"Guys we are lucky that this was not Hazel we were facing." I am grateful that they were weak and easy to get rid of. It would be a different story if it was Hazel.

"You are right Honey we should be glad that it is not Hazel. Knowing your luck though it will be him next time." Henry teases me.

Chapter Text

After talking to Henry, I decided to train for the next week. Henry took me and Rain to the secret waterfall that Michio showed him the week before. It was an hour walk past the gym. It was well hidden by the forest that was behind the gym. When we got there Henry told me how he found the waterfall. It was by following him because he was curious about where Michio went when he said he was training. Well, more like Henry stalking Michio to find out where he disappeared to when he was training for the gym here.

When we reached the waterfalls, I see Michio standing on the top. He has his Larvesta on his head. Then he jumps off the waterfall slamming onto a rock below. It almost gave me a heart attack when I saw this.

"Henry, I thought I told you not to come here again." Fire seems to be radiating off of Michio.

Henry waves his hands." Well, you know me I had to show Honey this amazing training ground."

Michio slaps his mask." Next time do not come here when you know I will be here. You know I hate it when anyone sees me training."

Henry," Aw you know it was one time and you got back at me by stealing all my food for a week straight. I really wanted to eat the seafood here but no you had to steal it." Pouting Henry turns away from Michio.

Michio huffs," You deserve it anyway you were eating too much. You were starting to get fat."

Henry cries and runs at Michio punching him into the water," I am not fat you are just jealous that I can eat more than you. Now enough about that Honey needs to train before the gym match."

Rain deadpans," Hey you forgot I need to train for the gym match to."

Henry turns around his mask with a horrible look on it," Rain shut up you are just not that important." Rain in response cries and I pat him on the shoulder.

"Rain it's okay buddy your important to me. Hey at least we will both be training together. Don't worry Henry will apologize otherwise I will tell everyone his big dark secret." I glare at Henry while comforting Rain. The Trapinch even joins in by pawing Rain's pant leg. It almost made me aw in joy at the sight of Trapinch trying to comfort Rain.

Henry looks at me betrayed," Rain I'm sorry you are important, and I should not have said that. Michio I'm sorry but could you please let Honey and Rain train here." Henry helps Michio out of the water.

Michio making sure his Larvesta is okay," Fine you can train here if you promise not to destroy anything." He pointedly looks at Henry when he says this. Henry's mask changed into a surprised look, and he looks confused at what Michio is implying.

Henry looks at him," Michio I am traveling with you to the next gym remember." The Larvesta gives Henry an unimpressed look.

Michio does not even acknowledge Henry," Honey you can train here only if you promise that you will be careful and not destroy the waterfall." I promise Michio that I will try my best to not destroy the waterfall. Rain makes the same promise, but Michio ignores him causing Rain to look depressed again.

Michio and Henry leave promising to battle me at Motostoke. Now it is just me and Rain left to train for the next week before challenging the gym. If everything goes well then after beating the gym we can both go to Motostoke to challenge the gym leader there.

"Well Rain let's start training." I release Mercy to fight Rain.

"Really Honey, okay Trapinch you got this." Rain's Trapinch jumps forward looking ready to battle.

This is how we spent our week battling each other and any wild Pokémon we could find. It was easier this time since I had a friend to share the pain of predators stalking close to camp. Mercy evolved during a mock battle between him and Rain's Trapinch. Balwin the crazy battle manic also evolved after challenging every Pokémon that would accept. He evolved after almost dying from a battle with a Garados. It was terrifying seeing him flying through the air heavily bleeding from multiple wounds on his body. I tried to save him, but Echo stopped him stating that Balwin will be fine. When I saw him evolve after declaring he will not give up, I felt relief. He barely managed to beat the Garados and with pride showed me the Garados scale he won from his battle. I strung the scale on a piece of string and put it on Balwin.

Jane, Jayden and their Morepeko showed up a few times demanding Leilani to be handed over. And even though it was Leilani's first time battling she did great. She took down their Pokémon sending them running. They kept showing up and every time me or Rain would beat them, and they would come back with even more insane plans to Pokénap Leilani.

There was even an off color Duskull that had a plank hanging off its neck. It read that it was sent by Psy-Psy to take Leilani since his guards Jane, Jayden and Morepeko were useless. The Duskull just like the trio is persistent and would not leave us alone. It was beaten by Minuet, my mostly happy Snorunt, who had enough of it trying to take Leilani every day without fail. It even ticked off Minuet so much that she has declared that Duskull as her nemesis.

After all that excitement we decided that we are ready to challenge the gym. After dealing with all the craziness of Team Mafia, Duskull, battle hungry Balwin and predators it felt amazing to be back in town. Now here I am walking into the gym to challenge the gym leader hoping that this will be easier than the week has been so far.

Moves: Growl, Pound, Sweet Kiss, Life Dew, Charm, Ancient Power.

4. Minuet (Snorunt): level 22

Gender: Female

Egg Move: Icicle Crash (Unlocked)

Moves: Astonish, Leer, Double Team, Ice Shard, Icy Wind, Protect, Endure and Protect.

5. Balwin (Meowstic): level 24

Gender: Male

Egg Move: Yawn(Unlocked)

Moves: Scratch, Leer, Fake Out, Disarming Voice, Confusion, Covet, Psybeam, Iron Tail, Calm Mind, Ally Switch and Sucker Punch.

I walk up to the front desk and see a woman sitting there. She looks up at me bored out of her mind.

"Name, challenger number and league card now before you enter. You also must show proof that you have at least one official gym badge before entering. To be even more clear it has to be the steel type gym badge otherwise it will not be accepted. If it is not you will have to pay a certain fee and have your trainer's license revoked along with any Pokémon in your care taken away until the next gym league challenge in August." The woman looks like she has rehearsed this speech several times. She is barely looking up when she says this.

I take out my league card and steel gym badge handing it to her," My name is Honey Ketchum from Pallet Town. My league number is 24."

She puts the gym badge and league card through a scanner. It dings and a red-light flash. Oh no I am screwed.

"You passed. Now go change then go over to the man to start the challenge." She says sarcastically then calls Rain to see his things.

I rushed to change and then go to the door leading to the challenge area. I see at least five other people including Rain waiting in front of the door. I do not have any idea how Rain got here before I did.

The door opens and a man comes out looking at a notebook," Okay challengers this gym challenge has a max of six gym challengers allowed in at a time. The reason for this is because Magi wants to see a battle royal fishing competition. This means that you will have a battle with your fellow competitors while trying to capture a water type Pokémon. Again, for anyone not listening or confused this means you will have to battle three other people here. You will battle while trying to catch the same water type Pokémon. The Pokémon will all be taken away at the end. The winner of the last round will be the one facing the gym leader. The losers will have to come back at a later time to try again. Good luck and hopefully one of you will win and not die horribly like the last challengers."

Wait the last six people died from this. Oh no this must be horribly tough to complete.

I walk in with the other five people to compete in the gym challenge. There is a chance that someone will die, and I hope Rain is not one of those unfortunate ones. Oh no that means I have a chance to die before I defeat Team Mafia. Does that mean the world is doomed if so, the world is screwed. A single tear goes down my face at the thought of the world ending.

When I walk in, I see two small ponds of water. There are two gym trainers by the small ponds.

The man from before speaks," Now you will be separated into two groups of three. The winner of the first round shall be the one who catches the water type Pokémon. The two winners will battle each other using the water type Pokémon they caught in the first round. The winner of that battle will then proceed to the gym arena to battle gym leader Magi. Oh, before I forget the water type Pokémon caught will be returned to me after the winner's battle."

Then he splits the group in half. When I look to see who is in my group, I see a boy I don't know and Clover. Great Clover is here and now I have to battle her for the Pokémon. If she loses, she will make my life miserable. If I lose Clover will hold it over my head for the rest of life. Having to choose between either of those chooses is great and will end in pain for me either way. So, I am screwed weather I win or lose. Well guess what I will win this because I do not want this brat lording it over me for the rest of life.

When I go to the pond, I made a choice to not let Clover win this. I do not care if my life will be terrible, I will not lose on purpose. My Pokémon have trained to hard for this for me to make them lose on purpose.

I release Balwin to battle for me. I do this because my little psychic type would complain if he did not battle today. Clover releases her Grookey which is a good move since water type Pokémon are weak to grass types. The other person released a Yamper. The gym trainer signals that the first round has started.

It is a three-way battle for the Barraskewda that I see in the pond. I look at the other two before telling Balwin what to do.

"Balwin use Psybeam on Yamper!" I point at the Yamper at the right side of Balwin.

Balwin puts paws together and a pink beam of psychic energy shots out knocking into the Yamper. The Yamper has a look a pure horror on its face when it is shot into Grookey. It causes the Yamper to be heavily damaged while also causing harm to the Grookey underneath it.

Clover screams and stomps her feet," Grookey if you do not get up right now there will be consequences." This causes me to wince since the Grookey barely gets up after using Knock Off on the Yamper. The Yamper is knocked off Grookey then faints.

The Yamper's trainer falls unto his knees," No Yam Yam we were supposed to win then become champion!" I snicker thinking he really named his Yamper Yam Yam. That is the most unimaginative name it could have. The gym trainer came up and forced the person to return their Pokémon. Then proceeds to drag them out of the area. Well, I guess it is just me and Clover left on this side.

Clover pouts," Grookey use Branch Poke on the ugly water type." A giant branch materializes out of the air and slams into the water. The Barraskewda jumps out of the water heavily damaged screeching uses Throat Chop on Grookey. The Grookey is hit on the throat but grabs the Barraskewda and flings into back into the water. The Barraskewda floats to the surface looking like it is dead. This causes my jaw to drop. How powerful is this Grookey.

Balwin having enough of a Pokémon that has not evolved uses Charm on Grookey. Balwin winks and blows pink hearts into Grookey's face. The Grookey's eyes changed into pink hearts, and it rushes up to Balwin cooing.

Clover screeches," I swear you are useless for falling for Charm." Before Clover can snap out of her fit, I threw a Pokéball at Barraskewda. The ball dings signaling I caught the Pokémon.

Clover turns around and tries to jump me," You jerk I was the one who knocked out the Pokémon not you. Give me the Pokéball now!" When she was in midair a gym trainer comes out of nowhere and grabs Clover.

"You lost the first round of the battle royal." Then he puts her over his shoulder and takes her away. Clover screams death threats at me. I ignore her and proceed to the next round.

After having Barraskewda healed by on onsite Nurse Joy I am led to a pool battlefield. I see right across from me Rain. The ref stands on the side.

"Now this a one-on-one battle using the Pokémon caught in the previous round. There will be no other Pokémon used during this round. Heal items are not to be used. The winner of this round will proceed to face the gym leader after returning the Pokémon caught in the first round. Now challengers release your Pokémon and fight. " The ref is looking at his phone when he says this.

I release the Barraskewda into the pool. Rain releases a Chewtle into the pool.

"Chewtle use Headbutt." Rain smiles at me. The Chewtle swims over to the Barraskewda slamming into it. The Barraskewda looks sightedly hurt by the headbutt.

"Now is your chance Barraskewda use Bite!" The Barraskewda jaw is surrounded by black energy. Before the Chewtle can escape the Barraskewda bites its stomach. The Chewtle flails around until it is released. The Chewtle is looks to be slightly hurt by the Bite.

"Chewtle use Tackle and Headbutt now!" The Chewtle flies in the water with its head aimed at Barraskewda. They collide together causing water to fly out of the pool. When it clears up, I see Barraskewda has Chewtle in its jaws again. It used Bite when Chewtle collided with it.

"Barraskewda use Fury Attack." The Barraskewda lets go of Chewtle then attacks it with Fury Attack. Chewtle faints after the fifth hit. Both Pokémon are returned and then given to the ref.

"Honey Ketchum of Pallet Town wins! Now can proceed to fight Magi the gym leader!" The ref is still looking at their phone when they say this.

Rain rubs the back of his head," Well I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to challenge the gym again."

I smile sadly," Hey Rain at least you have two more chances for every gym challenge. Also don't forget we cannot stay at the Pokémon center tonight since I have not paid the bill for the destroyed room. So run if you see Nurse Joy since she will make you pay."

Rain groans," Wait you didn't pay?! No wonder we had to camp out at the waterfall."

"Yep, and don't forget run if you see Nurse Joy. She will hunt you down since you were with me when she came in and saw that the room was destroyed." I am lead away from Rain. I am led to the official gym battle ground.

I see a pool of water with rocks scattered throughout it. It has a water fountain in the middle. There are waves bashing the rocks and the sides of the pool. Well, I am screwed if my plan does not work.

Then I see someone jump out of the pool onto the gym leader's side," Oh I didn't expect anyone to win the gym challenge today. Since yesterday the other winner died. Well, I guess you were lucky unlike the other person."

I notice that it is Magi and strangely he is completely dry after jumping out of the pool. The ref comes out of nowhere.

"The rule of this challenge is that there will be two Pokémon used by both the gym leader and the challenger. The challenger will be allowed to substitute their Pokémon while the gym leader will not be allowed to substitute. Any Pokémon returned to their Pokéball's will not be allowed to fight again. There will be no heal items allowed to be used in battle. Now challenger and gym leader release your Pokémon to start the battle." The ref waves a flag to signal the start of the battle.

Magi pulls out a Pokémon kisses it," Go Magikarp show the world you're a star!" A Magikarp is released into the pool below him.

I pull a Pokéball out," Mercy show us what you got." Mercy elegantly flies out and hovers over the pool.

"Oh, bringing out a flying type to beat a water type.!Guess what that won't work well here challenger. Magikarp use Hydropump!" Magi smirks and points at the water. I feel dread when I hear the word Hydropump. The Magikarp jumps out of the water. It shoots water out of its mouth at a high speed. Mercy barely doges but is hit on his left wing. He falls out of the air and uses this to use Brave Bird. It hits Magikarp out of the air and Mercy lands in the water.

Worried I grip the handlebar in front of me shouting," Mercy you need to get out of the water. You will drown if you don't get out." Mercy hears me and shots out of the water heavily damaged. His left wing is beating slower than his right wing.

Magi rolls his eyes huffing," You will lose this if you let your Corvisquire keep battling. I suggest you switch Pokémon now or you will lose." He holds up his hand to stop his Magikarp from fighting. Magi waits for my answer, but Mercy answers for me.

"Lady Honey I can do this. Even with my wing hurting I will win this battle for you, my lady. I will not lose another battle for my trainer. It will be different this time I will win and not lose you like my last trainer." Mercy uses Roost then Swift. He recovers his full health, and his left wing is fully healed. He beats his wings, and small yellow stars fly out hitting the water. A few of the stars hit Megikarp causing it to fly out of the water.

Magi smirks waving his arm," Magikarp use Bounce!" The Magikarp shakes itself out and uses its momentum to fly up higher in the air. Then it slams onto Mercy forcing both of them to crash onto a rock. Mercy uses Fury Attack after he throws the Magikarp off him onto the rock. The waves are surging over and around the rock causing Mercy to slip a bit. Thankfully he is okay after he steadies himself. The Magikarp is gasping on the rock when Mercy comes up and traps it between his claws. Then Mercy's beck is surrounded by white energy that he uses to stab the Magikarp five times. The Magikarp faints and Magi returns it.

Chapter Text

Magi looks down frowning shadows covering his face. His toothpick falls out of his mouth when he suddenly smiles. Looking up with his eyes glittering in the light with a big smile on his face.

"Well this is the most fun I have had in years. You gave me the best fight in the first round I have had since before I became gym leader. Instead of giving up when I told you to you listened to your pokemon. That takes confidence in your pokemon to make the right decision. That will help you with my second Pokémon only if you are prepared for a longer battle. I will be using the first Pokémon I ever caught and evolved. Prepare yourself for one of the hardest battles of your life." Magi take out a Primerball that grows large and smiling throws it into the pool." Gyarados come out and show this challenger what a real battle is like."

Then the Gyarados is dynamaxed in the pool. Its long white body takes up the majority of the pool.

"Gyarados use Max Geyser." The Gyarados moves it's body to stand over Mercy. A large blast of water bursts out of its mouth. It hits Mercy knocking him out. I return Mercy worried about him since we can not go to the pokemon center tonight. Well unless I pay Nurse Joy after this battle. Then I need to not let my pride get in the way of my pokemon being healed and Rain from having somewhere safe to sleep at.

I take a pokeball and activate dynamaxing to enlarge the pokeball. I threw it at the pool," Minuet come out and use Max Hailstorm!"

Minuet comes out of her Pokéball landing partially on Gyarados. She seems happy and dances a little. Then she uses Max Hailstorm on Gyarados. A large piece of ice lands on Gyarados causing hail to fall around the pool. Gyarados shakes it off, but it seems to be slightly hurt.

"Good move challenger! Now Gyarados use Max Wyrmwind." Magi is still smiling at me. His Gyarados releases a storm made of draconic energy that swirls around Minuet. It causes Minuet to be damaged from the attack and is pushed back a few feet off of Gyarados. The crowd that was dead silent earlier bursts out cheering.

I look at Minuet making sure she is okay. She seems fine and it fills me with relief to see that she is okay. The sound of cheering grows louder and is almost deafening.

Minuet looks at Gyarados," I will not lose to a pokemon that does not dance. Now mister Gyarados I will beat you then teach you to dance. Now if you win I promise not to bother you again. Then again I do not lose when I am dancing. Prepare to lose by a dancing Snorunt!" She says this cheerfully then starts to twirl around. The Gyarados looks to be in shock and tries to get away from Minuet.

I know what the Gyarados is feeling and sympathize with him. I to was forced to learn how to dance when Minuet found out I never learned. When I refused at first she looked at me telling me to run. I was terrified for my life when she screamed dance instructions while spamming attacks at me. I learned never to say no to Minuet.

I call out," Minuet use Max Phantasm." Minuet chuckles with glee releasing ghost type energy at Gyarados. It hits causing Gyarados to be heavily damaged by the ghost type move. Great I have another battle manic I thought that Balwin would be the only one I had to deal with wanting to battle everything. Then again Minuet is battling to make sure that the Gyarados loses so that she can force it to learn how to dance. I do not want to know how she will teach it to dance since it does not have legs. The hail is still falling out the sky and a piece hits me on the head. I rub the spot the hail landed on my head.

Magi still smiling," Gyarados use Max Geyser." Gyarados shots water at Minuet. Minuet is hit and looks to be on her last leg. Then Gyarados shrinks down out of its dynamax form. The hail fly around and hits both Minuet and Gyarados. It harms both pokemon.

I look at Minuet," Minuet show the world your dance style with Max Hailstorm!" Minuet's eye glints when she uses the hail around the gym to form a large piece of ice. She then releases it on top of Gyarados knocking it out. The hail bursts from the ice spreading around the gym.

The ref waves a flag'" Challenger Honey Ketchum of Pallet Town wins." The crowd stands up and cheers for the end of the battle.

When I am lead out of the arena after returning Minuet. I see Magi waiting for me by the entrance.

He hands me the water type badge and a TM36 Whirlpool.

Magi," Well your Snorunt won so Gyarados has to learn how to dance. You and your friend can stay at the gym rooms here while I talk to Nurse Joy about the bounty on your head. I know it wasn't your fault for the destroyed room and this is the reason why I will pay for the damages since you won the battle. If you had lost though it would be a whole different story with me arresting you after the battle and taking all your money to pay for the damages done. Your friend will battle me tomorrow since he did get second place in the gym challenge. I am doing this because I do it for everyone who gets to the second round. Now follow me to the building behind the gym to see your room for tonight."

I followed Magi and make sure to call Rain to tell him the good news," Rain we can stay at the gym trainer building here tonight. Magi, the gym leader, said he will pay off my debt to the pokemon center since it was Team Mafia that destroyed it and not me. Also there should be a gym trainer that we meet you at the front of the gym that we take you to the building we are staying at."

Rains sighs," Well at least there will be no murderous Nurse Joy tracking us down to get the money. I also caught two new pokemon a Wimpod and a Blipbug." He takes it well and is lead by a gym trainer to the building. He meets me at the center of the first floor room the practice gym. It has several battle fields designed for every type of pokemon.

Magi leads us to the next room. It is a pokemon sanctuary," Now your Snorunt can teach my Gyarados in here. You yourselves can use the practice gym to train for your friend's battle tomorrow. Don't worry I will not be watching to keep everything a surprise for the gym battle."

Magi releases his Gyarados and I release Minuet for Gyarados' dance lessons. Magi also leaves when he tells us he needs to work on his paper work for this week. Gym leaders are kind a of like the police chief and mayor of a town all wrap in one package. The reason for this is because a gym leader is the strongest trainer for each town.

They do have several teams that have different difficulty depending on how many badges you have earned along with how many regions you have traveled. The reason it can depend on how regions you have traveled is because of the universal laws the Pokémon League has put in place. One such rule is that after every region you can only use your starter Pokémon, and any Pokémon caught in the region you are in at the Pokémon league there.

After traveling to a new region, you must have five Pokémon from the new region plus your starter are allowed to be used in the Pokémon league there. Any Pokémon that are caught but are not your starter can travel with you but cannot be used in a new region. This rule exists to give trainers from different regions a fairer playing field when they have been to more than one region. It helps new trainers against trainers with more experience to help keep the champion title more likely to fall into the hands of a native trainer versus a trainer not native to that region.

I walk with Rain to the gym room and leave Minuet to train Gyarados in the art of dancing. Then after a few hours I train with Rain to help him with his battle tomorrow. His Caterpie evolved into a Metapod and Rain cried when he saw his pokemon evolve.

Rain wipes his eyes," When I lost to you yesterday I thought I would keep letting my pokemon down. That I could not keep my promise of helping them evolve. I am so happy to see at east one of them can evolve after everything that happened today. Honey thank you for helping one of my pokemon evolve."

After comforting Rain, we returned our Pokémon after battling for a few more hours. Then after I go check up on Minuet and her telling me that she will stay out of her Pokéball tonight. That she will be training Garados all night since she will not have much time to teach Garados how to dance. I go to the room that I was given for the night. Then when I enter the room, I remember I need to call my parents.

I dial the number watching as it rings. Then I see my mom on the other side of the screen.

She smiles and I can see dark circles underneath her eyes," Honey I saw your match today. You did great sweetheart winning on your first try. I also heard from your weird friend that you are traveling with a boy I don't know the name of. Now who is this boy and why are you traveling with him? Then you disappeared for seven days and again you do not call until after your gym match. The worst thing is not knowing if you are dead or alive Honey. Oh, do not make me forget the call I got from a Pokémon center about money you owe for a destroyed room. Honey they were going to send a bounty hunter Nurse Joy after you if that nice gym leader you defeated today did not call to tell me he was going to pay for the destroyed room. Honey you are in big trouble when you get home in August. Your father when he heard the news was going to have one of his gym trainers acts as gym leader when he went to deal with your mess in Galar. You know your father is a busy man and I do not like having him deal with your mess's young lady!"

I avoid eye contact," Mom I am sorry I was going to call you after I got here last week but everything went horribly wrong. There is a team called Team Mafia after me to kidnap my Tokepi, Leilani. They were the ones who destroyed my room at the Pokémon center. I did not have enough money at the time to pay for the destroyed room. Henry helped me and my traveling companion escape into the woods. He led us to a waterfall to help me train for the gym I just defeated. My new traveling companion is Rain Everstone the brother of the champion Bisck. He joined me after I defeated the first gym. I could not call in the area I was in since there was no cellphone connection there. I was hoping that after I defeated the gym here that I would have enough money to pay the Pokémon center back. I also did not want to call you until after I paid off my debt. I wanted to show you that I can pay for this myself and that I am not a little kid anymore."

I told her this because I am older than sixteen. I lived twenty-four years before I died and woke up as a baby here. That I need her to not treat me like a child anymore.

My mom's eyes widen," Honey thank you for explaining yourself. I should treat you like an adult, but it is so hard to treat the child you raised and cared for sixteen years as anything else but as your baby. Honey in my heart no matter what you will always be my baby, but I see your point in treating you as an adult. That does not excuse you worrying me by not calling more often. Also now knowing that a group of people are after you will worry me even more. Honey, you need to be careful with these people they sound dangerous. I tell your father about this but do not forget I love you and if you need me at all call. I will come with your great grandfather and uncle to help you, Honey. If I have to, I will also call on the rest of the Blackthorn clan to help."

I smile," Mom, I will call you if I need it. I will not let you down by losing to these people. Tell dad I said hi and give Ash hugs and kisses from me."

My mom looks at me then hangs up. I look at the phone contemplating calling my father. Then I decided not to call since he will be busy right now. Either doing Team Rocket business or gym work. Then again, he most likely already knows what I am doing because of his paranoia of me dying or getting hurts causes him to send Team Rocket members to watch me. These Team Rocket members also report everything I do to him. My father also believes I don't know that Aunt Kelly is his secretary that was sent to watch over me.

Before I turn off the lights, I release the rest of my Pokémon. I put down the food given to me by the chefs here for them. I make sure that I put the food in bowls that have their names on the side in different colors. I also take out the water bowls and put water in it. I place the bowls on the floor by the bathroom.

Echo herds the others over to eat. She grabs Leilani and puts her in front of her own bowl. Echo makes sure that Balwin does not steal Leilani's food. I chuckle when I see Mercy trying to groom Balwin. It does not go over well and ends with Echo separating them.

I go to bed after turning off the lights. My Pokémon crawl into bed with me. Then I fall asleep.

Chapter Text

I wake up the next morning feeling refreshed and ready to go see Rain's gym battle. I try to get up but my Pokémon are laying on top of me. I gently pick up Leilani off my chest and slowly sit up. I slide Balwin to my left side along with Mercy. I try to not wake them up when I move to the right side of the bed. Then I came face to face with an awake Echo who is scowling at me.

Echo hisses softly," Where do you think you are going at six in the morning?"

I put Leilani down between Mercy and Balwin," Well I was going to explore town before going to Rain's gym match. Also why are you awake and not asleep?" I gesture to the other three that are asleep then to her.

Echo slaps my hands," I couldn't sleep because that stupid Duskull came back and tried to take Leilani. Unlike you I woke up and took care of it. I could NOT sleep after that!!!"

I smirk," Ha admit it you were worried."

Echo deadpans blushing," No I was not you idiot I was just being responsible unlike you. At least I woke up unlike your lazy self that could sleep through a predator busting into your tent trying to eat you."

I pale at the mention of that incident. I remember Echo kicking my head screaming that a predator was about to eat me. How I could not wake up from the destruction that happened in my tent. Then Echo started to physically beat me in concern for me. It has not a great morning for me.

I shake myself out of thoughts," Echo you know I am a deep sleeper. Nothing short of the sun rising could wake me."

Echo rubs her forehead," Well it is true you can sleep through almost anything, but that does not give you the excuse to not wake up when someone is trying to take Leilani. At this point I feel like you don't care about any of this, and you claim that you were sent here by the Pokémon God to fix your mistakes. I do not see you doing anything but battling in the gym circuit."

I flinch," Echo you know the best way to defeat Team Mafia is if we go through the gym circuit. That we need to get stronger and make stronger allies and the only way to do that is through the circuit. The only way to get the Pokémon League to help is with evidence and the only way we can get it is with traveling to each region."

Echo looks at me then walks out of the room," You better bring Leilani and one of the boys with you when you go explore town."

I watch her leave then feel something nudge me. I look over and see Balwin awake and looking at me.

"You know that Echo wants what is best for us. She wants you to confide to her your plan and not keep it inside. It is not right telling your partner your future plans." Balwin rubs his eyes.

I lift Balwin off the bed and go to the other side of the room," Balwin I want to tell you guys and girls everything, but I can't. When I first died, I made a promise to Arceus that in exchange for me defeating Team Mafia that my friends would be able to live again. In exchange Arceus also made me promise not to reveal to much information about my mission until I found Pokémon and people that I could trust. Balwin I am terrified about all this and did not want to burden anyone else with my plans to defeat Team Mafia. Then when I first meet Echo, I decided to tell her why I was there but did not tell her everything."

Balwin sighs," You need to understand that keeping any vital information will kill someone you love one day. I understand not wanting to tell anyone your burdens. The relief you feel when you do tell someone is amazing. Honey keeping these worries inside will not help you. Your best bet is to talk with Echo alone then tell everyone else. We will feel betrayed at first, but it is better than waiting."

Balwin then leaves me to think over this. He goes back to bed snuggling close to Mercy and Leilani.

What Balwin said is correct I need to tell Echo then the others what I know. I take out of journal with everything I know about Team Mafia and the story is written in here. It also contains my research and my journey so far written in it. I will show my Pokémon what I have written in here before we travel to the third gym.

Then I get dressed and go explore town. I bring Balwin with me leaving Mercy to babysit Leilani. When I get back, I check up on Minuet and saw that she was asleep. I made sure not to wake her up. I did not go to find where Echo was because she needs time to herself.

When it was noon, I went to watch Rain's match. He barely won his battle against Magi.

Then we went back to our rooms to pack for our journey to Motostoke.

When I walk out the door with Rain my danger sense activates. I push Rain out of the way when a shadow jumps in the place where Rain was before I pulled him out of the way. I turn out of the way just in time to dodge a punch.

Rain grabs the person trying to attack us. Then I walk up and take off the black hood obscuring the attackers face. Then blonde curls and blue eyes are shown when the hood is pulled back.

I was surprised to see it was Clover. Then again Clover probably wants revenge for what happened at the gym mission.

Clover spits on me," I came here to make you give me your gym badge that was rightfully mine!"

I wipe the spit off my face," Clover I won the gym mission because you were distracted, and you would have won if you did not let your temper to get out of control. Also, you can take the gym challenge two more times."

Clover laughs then tries to bite Rain's hand. Rain let's out a little scream when Clover won't let go of his hand. I pull her off not letting her go.

"What is wrong with you?!" Rain winces and takes out a potion to spray his hand.

Clover smirks at him with blood staining her lips," I hate when a peasant thinks they can touch me. Now peasant nerd let me go or you will suffer the same fate."

I let her go but make sure to stand between her and Rain," Now Clover leave before I call for the gym trainers to take care of you."

Clover wipes the blood off then looks at it," I will call my father, and you will suffer if you don't give me what I want!" She stalks closer trying to intimidate me. It does not work since I am taller than her but when I see the look in her eyes, I know she will not let this go.

I grab Rain," Clover, I will not give you my gym badge because it is already registered to me. You and I will both get arrested if I give you, MY badge. The Pokémon League has a rule in place that giving a badge to a trainer who has not earned it will get both the person receiving and giving the badge arrested for a minimum of seven years. Those people will also be blacklisted from any job available after getting out of jail. They will also be stripped of their Pokémon and person belongings. They will not be allowed to have any Pokémon except for one given by the league that cannot evolve. Then they will also have to be monitored by a league official for about three years. So, no I will give you my badge and have all that happen to me. Also, should you already know this with your father being the chairman of the Galar branch of the Pokémon League?"

Clover stops moving and clenches her fists while looking down at the ground," I don't care my father will protect me. Now give me the badge or suffer the consequences."

I walk over to her whispering in her ear grabbing her shoulders," Clover I don't care what you do to me but if you do anything that will harm my friend and the Pokémon traveling with us let's just say I will not be happy. So do you still want to threaten me by saying your daddy will do something horrible to me?"

Clover shakes then looks up at me with horror filled eyes," You will not get away from this peasant I will have my revenge."

I tighten my grip," Well then Clover I guess I better prepare." Then I let her go. Clover looks at me mouthing that this is not over then runs away.

I turn back to Rain," I'm so sorry about that but we better get going before she does something to hinder us." Then I start walking away with Rain catching up with me.

I walk to the Galar mine with Rain right next to me. When we went inside of the mine we decided to explore before heading to Motostoke. I looked around and saw a few lights sprinkled around the cave walls. There were also a few Pokémon wondering around the entrance of the mine.

One of the Pokémon sounded an alarm. Then the Pokémon around the cave entrance ran away hiding in the restricted area. It is area that is blocked off with caution tape and signs saying that it is a dangerous area filled with Pokémon that are too high of levels for beginner trainers to catch. There is also an elite trainer along with a Pokémon ranger guarding the area. They are holding Dex scanners to see if a trainer is allowed in the area or not.

I walk past the area when the ranger locks eyes with me. She steps out blocking my path.

She pulls out a Pokéball," Kid when you lock eyes with another trainer you are forced to battle."

The elite trainer throws his Pokéball," Yup it's like an unofficial rule used by more experienced trainers to get money from newbies."

Then something that I think is a Pokémon or a small child dressed as a cheerleader step out," Double battles are the best way to finally get money after these two spend our whole budget on clothes. I need money to buy food dang it!"

Then a floating thing with a piece of wood on it is also dressed as a cheerleader appears out of nowhere. I read the sign it says finally an easy way to get food for the boss.

I look at Rain," Would you like to do a double battle with me?" I also take out Echo's Pokéball ready to release her to battle. I make sure that Leilani is strapped in the baby harness I got earlier when exploring town. She wiggles around a bit on my chest then sighs going back to sleep.

Rain grins," Yeah let's show these two what real teamwork is like." Then he tosses his Trapinch's Pokéball out on the field.

I release Echo." Echo shows these adult trainers that we will not lose to them!" Echo lands next to Trapinch. They both nod to each other.

Then the ranger releases a Nickit and the elite trainer released a Bronzor.

The cheerleader raises a pompom," The rules are that each side is only allowed to use one Pokémon each. That means one Pokémon per trainer. When one side does not have any Pokémon left, they lose and give money to the winning team. Good luck trainers."

Then the area that the battle is being held is secured by a safety barrier to prevent any stray attacks from coming out and harming the people or the environment outside the battle. The cheerleaders start waving their pompoms cheering for the opposing team.

The ranger smirks with her blue eyes flashing from underneath her bangs," Nickit use Sucker Punch on Trapinch!" The Nickit's paw formed energy around it then punched Trapinch in the face. It landed and caused Trapinch to fly a few feet back from the impact. Then Trapinch stands back up shaking off the dust that was covering it.

Rain shifts his hat to the side," Trapinch use Sand Tomb on Bronzor!" Trapinch bites the ground then shots sand at Bronzor. It traps Bronzor in a small area with sand swirling around it. Some sand hits Bronzor in a few places causing slight damage.

I look at the field to figure out my first move. Then I remember that Echo has a fighting type move that Nickit should be weak to.

I make sure to cover Leilani's earholes," Echo use Double Kick on Nickit then use Ember on Bronzor." Echo jumps into the air lashing out at high speeds at the Nickit. Two high powered kicks landed forcing the Nickit to slam into the barrier surrounding the battlefield. The Nickit falls to the ground bruised and singed from the voltage from the barrier. Echo leaps back to her side of the field all the while shooting ember at Bronzor. The fire from the ember mixes with the sand causing Bronzor to faint from the damage.

The elite trainer sighs," Bronzor you did better than I expected for your first battle. I should have used my other Pokémon. Oh well can't expect to win every battle." Then Bronzor is returned to its Pokéball.

Then the small cheerleader screeches," The boss will not be happy with you idiot." Then the two cheerleaders join forces to attack the elite trainer. They rip off a hat revealing blue hair underneath it. Then a light bulb goes off. The two people we are battling are Jane and Jayden from Team Mafia. That means that Morpeko and Duskull are the cheerleaders. The leader they keep mentioning is Psypsy and they are challenging new trainers to get money for him. I will not stand for it I will beat them and take the money to give to the Motostoke police.

I glare at them," Echo use Flame charge to take out Nickit!" Echo growls then charge with flames surrounding her. She charges at Nickit causing it to faint. Then the protective barrier went down cancelling out any residue effects left by the battle.

The Pokémon ranger grits her teeth," You brats win this round but next time will not be as easy." Then she helps Jayden up off the floor. They whisper furiously between each other. I caught part of the conversation about running and taking the money with them. They also mentioned wanting to give the money to their boss.

I look at Rain whispering," Rain those are the same people who destroyed the Pokemon Center bedroom. They are taking money that is not theirs to use for some nefarious plan. They also probably did something awful to the elite trainer and ranger who were supposed to be here."

Rain glances back at me," Yeah, we need to take them out quick before they run. Trapinch headbutt the two trainers over there." Trapinch runs over knocking over Jane and Jayden. I run over with Rain and Echo in front of me.

Morpeko grabs a bag from out of nowhere shirking," We need to leave they know why we're here." It tries to run but slips and falls from the heavy weight of the bag. Then Duskull grabs the other two and uses Confuse Ray on Trapinch. It causes Trapinch to start dizzily moving around shooting Mud Shot. Thankfully in its confusion it did not hit us bit it did manage to hit the bag. This caused the bag to slip out of Morpeko's paws to Rain. He grabs it kicking Morpeko away from him.

We ran with the money to the exit leading to Motostoke. We did this while being chased by Jane. Jayden, Morpeko and Duskull chased us to the end of the cave. When I see a familiar figure arguing with someone else. If we run fast enough, we could have help. So, I run faster with my friends to ask for help.

Chapter Text

I reach the figures and see that it is Michio screaming at Kabu. I slow down making sure to tug Rain away from a stray attack. I heard Michio screaming about how Kabu was never a father to him. The reason being how he abandoned Michio and his mother to travel the world. The fact he did not come home until after his mother's funeral. How he took him from his home to live in a foreign land. Then I see Kabu trying to pat Michio's shoulder but Michio flinched away.

Then Michio turns around seeing us running towards him. He jumps out the way of us almost running him over. I fall over hitting a rock on the way down. Wincing I stand up making sure that Leilani was okay. She was fine still sleeping through all this happening around her. Then I see Rain picking up his Trapinch off the floor dusking it off with one hand. The other hand shoves the bag of money towards Kabu.

Kabu's stoic façade broke into a surprised face before quickly becoming stoic again." Young man is this money I heard was stolen by a pair of fake guards by the restricted area. I was going over there when I was distracted by my son over there." Then he points at Michio who is staring at the ground. There is smoke coming off of his hazmat suit.

Michio's head lifted up with flames burst out of his gas mask glaring at everyone hissing," Do not ever call me son. The rest of you do not mention my relationship with that man." Then Michio turns around walking to the cave entrance.

Then I hear a shout behind us," Give me back the money brat before the boss comes and deals with ya personally!" Then I feel something slam me unto the ground shocking me with electricity. Pain courses through my body causing paralysis to set in. I try to lift up my arm panicking but I can't. I breath faster with my mind racing with the thought of Leilani being squashed underneath me. The thought that Team Mafia caught up and will do something horrible to get the money back from Kabu. Then I feel a hand grab me lifting me up to see their face. I see Kabu looking at me with a slight frown on his face. He gives me to Rain to hold while he looks for a paralyze heal spray. While that is happening, I hear a loud click coming from the cave entrance.

I see a man with black bandages covering his body along with an untied straight jacket. The man is wearing the bandages over his hair but a single glowing cat like orange eye is peaking out of the bandages on his face. He is holding Michio with a gun pointed at his head along with another gun pointed at everyone else.

Then I hear the man talk," My name is Psypsy and I need that money for food. I am starving since my idiot bodyguards spent all of our budget on disguises. Well then again at least one of their disguises paid off for once. Now be a good gym leader and give me the money."

Then Psypsy looks at me," Now Honey, is it? At this point I don't care what my older brother wants. The only thing I care about is that money so that I can finally have something to eat. Do you know how it feels to starve for however long it has been at this point it feels like it has been more than twenty-three days. Now I don't want to hurt your friend, or you just give me the money."

Kabu sighs looks at me and Rain whispering," I will distract him while you grab Michio. Go to the police station to go get help do you understand me." Rain nods his head then signals Trapinch to use Sandstorm.

Then the Sandstorm is activated. I hear Psypsy swearing and gunshots going off. Kabu gives Rain the money then leaps into the Sandstorm and after a few minutes I see Michio being thrown our way. Michio helps Rain with dragging me to the cave entrance that is when I feel another shock run through my system.

"Do ya think ya can get away after taking the money and blowing our cover," A purple Morepeko pops out from behind the rocks chasing us. Then two figures dressed in an elite trainer and ranger outfit jump out after Morepeko along with a Duskull.

Rain curses then shout," Trapinch use Sandstorm behind us quick!" Trapinch turns around shooting sand behind it trapping the Team Mafia members in the Sandstorm.

Chapter Text

We arrived at the police station after running from the cave. I am still being carried by my friends with our partner Pokémon following us protecting us from wild Pokémon. The police station was found to be near the outskirts of Motostoke near the field by the cave. It is a large three-story white building. There was an older chubby man wearing a police outfit standing outside the police station.

"Hello, what brings you here today to Motostoke's fine police station? Are you here to report how two older trainers beat you in a double battle in the cave or another crime?" The man happily smiles while taking out a notepad and pen to write down our complaints.

Michio looks at him while still helping Rain with carrying me," You idiot Kabu the gym leader told us to come get the police because of a crime that is taking place in the cave right now! Our friend here was paralyzed by one of the enemies Pokémon!" Michio almost let go of me when he was wildly gesturing towards the cave where smoke is bellowing out.

The police officer drops his things and pulls out a Rotom phone," Officer Turfling to all off-duty officers there seem to be a situation in Galar Mine number 2. Repeat all available officers there is trouble in Galar Mine number 2. I will need immediate backup." The officer pulls out a gun and Pokéballs mumbling," I knew I should have taken the day off when Johnson offered to take watch duty."

Then he turns to us," You kids can follow me but first let me spray your friend with this potion first." Officer Turfling pulled out a yellow spray bottle. He came over and rapidly sprayed the bottle all over me. I felt the horrific pain dull into a throb that ebbed away after a few more sprays from the bottle. Michio and Rain gently let go of me after making sure I could stand up on my own.

Officer Turfling turned away jogging to the cave entrance. He stops doubling over panting after a few steps. "Kids go on ahead. I need to catch my breath," Officer Turfling whips his forehead still panting. He waves his hands gesturing for us to go on ahead.

Michio runs faster than me and Rain. He gets there before us running into the cave. I reach the cave entrance with Rain going inside together. When we go inside the smoke thins revealing Kabu knocked out on the ground. Then I see a flash of something near Kabu.

I rub my eyes looking closer revealing Henry tied to a pole hitting Kabu's chest with his feet screaming," Come on get up those evil people stole all my food. I need you to untie me so that I can get it back." Then I hear groaning coming from Kabu.

Michio runs over to his father after punching Henry's face," Are you okay Kabu?"

Henry moans," You should be asking me that. Also, why the heck did you punch me?" Michio does not acknowledge Henry choosing instead to focus on helping Kabu sit up. I go over after making eye contact with Michio asking for permission to help.

Michio lifts his gas masked covered face," Well help me by calling the hospital for an ambulance since my phone was destroyed by that weirdo that was using me as bait. What are you waiting for Kabu needs help, don't you see the blood coming out of his head wound?!"

Henry screams," Untie me right now! I need to get my food back from those weird cosplayers!" Then mask turns into a tearful anime face," I can still smell my meat nuggets." He turns to look at Honey," I can smell your food give it to me before I cry even more."

I go over to Henry and give him a mini pound cake and shove it in his still tied up hands." Here Henry eats this. Now to make that phone call to the hospital. I wonder where Officer Turfling is?"

I pull out my phone to call for an ambulance," Hey I need an ambulance at the Galar Mine number 2. The gym leader is here injured after an altercation at the mine. Yes, thank you and please hurry."

I turn to Michio," The ambulance should be here in five minutes. They said to keep Kabu conscience and to not let him fall asleep since he might have a concussion."

Right after I said that Officer Turfling burst into the cave followed by five other armed officers. Officer Turfling went over to Henry and untied him after telling the others to scout out the mine for evidence. Then after that our group was chased out of the cave due to official police investigations.

Rain rubbed his forehead," Hey guys follow me I booked two rooms at the hotel here for me and Honey, but you can join us if you want?"

Henry's mask turned into an excited kitty face with flowers blooming in the background behind him," That would be great but first let's go to that all you can eat ramen place. They are having a special where you can eat as much as you want for free if you finish their deluxe ramen bowl. I heard that it is as big as two grown men's head."

Michio grumbles," Henry another one of your free eating schemes again have you learned nothing since that pizza man incident yesterday?!" Before I could ask what Michio was talking about I was dragged away by Henry to find that ramen place.

Chapter Text

After arriving at all you can eat ramen place, we sat down to watch Henry win everyone a free meal. It was kind of fascinating watching Henry eat four ramen bowls each the size of two grown men's heads. I should be used to this by now after knowing Henry for twelve years.

Then again back then I thought Henry would never be my friend until something amazing happened to change my mind. I pull out my locket opening it. It shows the latest photos taken by my phone and Rotomdex displayed in a slideshow. My locket is something special given to me by my father for my journey it works as a tracker and links to any electronic device that uses the same email address. I found out it was tracker by losing the Team Rocket grunts following me then just a few moments later those same grunts or another group is following me.

It was annoying at first especially when Rain kept pointing out the people following us. We made it into a game who could tell who Honey's incompetent bodyguards is first. The winner gets a free meal at the next pitstop on our journey. Then I look up to see that Rain has finished his fourth bowl of ramen winning free meals for himself and the rest of us.

Henry puts down the bowl that was obscuring his face. His mask is put back into its proper place over before we could see his face. I shiver at the thought of seeing Henry's face again. It is the stuff of nightmares and even though I know he has background character syndrome, and it targeted his face. I still cannot look at him until his mask is on his face.

Henry waves us over to the bouffe table," Come on we better eat before they close for special meet and greet with the top Eeevee trainer Adi tonight. That reminds me Honey that me and you were going to battle when you arrived for your third gym badge. Would it be okay to battle tomorrow? Well at least my battle that is since Michio has been looking forward to battling you after watching your Pokétube channel."

Rain frowns after picking out what he wanted to eat," Well I thought it was going to be a double battle with me and Honey fighting you and Michio." Rain sets down his plate then goes over to the Pokémon chow center. It is an area filled with dispensers that have labels of what Pokémon would like best, and a list of ingredients included for Pokémon on special diets. These special diets are caused by training conditions or allergies caused by certain foods. That reminds me that I need to carefully read these labels just in case my Pokémon are not getting enough nutrition or in the case of Minuet her refusal to eating anything spicy.

"Yeah, I can battle you tomorrow Henry but what do mean by watching my battles on Pokétube? I have never posted any of battles on there." I put Leilani down and release the rest of the team to eat. I put down five bowls filled with food they would hopefully like from here.

Michio slams his hand down on the table," You don't know what Pokémon is? It is where gym leaders post their battles against challengers. It is also where the League gives challengers a chance to become famous and learn their enemies' strategies. They do this by recording any battles a trainer does that includes trainer verses trainer battles. Pokétube also is where if you want to learn things you just look for a video to watch."

Then Michio looks at me again rubbing his mask," Then again how can I expect a first-time trainer to understand."

I look at Michio," Thank you for explaining how you know what I have been doing. Now do you still want to battle after lunch today?"

"Yes of course I want to battle you. Now hurry up and finish eating!" Michio looks at Rain," Stay here and watch Henry for me."

Chapter Text

Before Rain could reply I was dragged away to the local training area. It is a large dome shaped building on the first level of the city. It is located almost directly underneath the local gym. It is also the local gym trainer and gym leader's private apartments. The apartments are located on the third floor of the building.

Michio pulls out a black card with flame shaped highlights. He puts it near the door then a ding comes from it letting the door open.

"Welcome home Mister Igarashi. I do hope you enjoy your stay at the Motostoke gym apartment and practice fields today. Do remember that the third floor along with parts of the second floor are off limits to outsiders. Also Mister Kabu has requested that after your battle to release the gym trainers and staff from the Motostoke gym. He also requested for you to return the master card to him before you continue on your journey." The camera at the entrance blinked off.

Michio walks inside mumbling under his breath. I could not hear what he said but I can image it was him saying something along the lines of not having to listen to Kabu. He led me through a beautiful, decorated secretary area decorated in posters of gym leaders who worked in Motostke along with newspaper clippings showcasing all those people have done in their trainer carriers. Michio stops before the area dedicated to Kabu Igarashi the current gym leader.

Michio hesitates after a second then turns around to face me," Before Kabu became the gym leader here he was the champion for ten years in Hoenn. He threw his champion title to someone who could not beat him so that he could be with his family. He did this knowing that he was ruining his life as a trainer, but he did it anyway. Kabu threatened the chairmen of the Hoenn League if they did not allow him to do so. You know what at that point I was happy the man who was my father was finally going to be home for my sixth birthday. Do you know what went wrong the League threatened Kabu to help them with a world ending threat if he did not help them, they would do something awful to his family. Kabu decided to go back and help leaving me and my mother behind. Do you know what happened next? We'll let me tell you my mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer a year after he left. I was alone taking care of her until she died four months ago. Kabu only came home after the funeral to take me with him to Galar because the League asked him to take over as gym leader. I hate him for leaving me and my sick mother with nothing but the fire type breeding farm and money. Did you know that Kabu is actually the richest person in the world right now."

Then Michio walks to the door about to open it," I told you this because when I see your face after you heard my name, I felt you knew what happened and felt guilty. I don't want your pity all I want is for your friendship. I heard so many stories from Henry about how great of a trainer you you are how actually won against Pokémon poachers. Rain also told me how you beat your first two gym leaders easily but guess what you are going up against a former champion. I am going to beat into your head with my starter that not everything goes your way so prepare for your defeat."

Then Michio walks down the hall stopping before a room labeled fire type training area," Get ready since this will be a battle between starter Pokémon."

We walk into the practice gym. Hot air hits me in the face along with the urge to take off my jacket. That is when I see the battlefield is covered in black sand with areas that burst into flames. The walls are covered in black stone. There is a sitting area, but it is covered with a protective heat-resistant glass with a door leading into the area on the challenger's side of the field. There are also two high rise areas covered in the same glass about fifteen feet above the field on opposite ends. There is also the same standing area for the ref but about five feet off the ground on the spectator side of the field between the line marking the halfway point of the field.

Standing in the ref's box is a person wearing a black hood. They also have a Yamper sitting at their feet. That is when it struck me is that Yam Yam guy.

Michio goes to his area climbing up the ladder. I do the same after staring at who I think is Yam Yam guy.

Chapter Text

The ref holds up his right hand," The rule for this match is that only your starter Pokémon may be used. Any other Pokémon used will be counted as a forefelt of the match. There will be no heals or revives used along with items that can help in the battle. A win will be determined by the Pokémon left conscious for the longest. Each trainer will now release their Pokémon to begin the match." Then he lifts up his Yamper and puts it onto a chair that came out of nowhere.

I pull out a red Pokéball throwing it onto the field," Echo, I know you don't want to listen to me right now, but we are going up against Michio. This will not be an easy battle, and we will most likely lose but I want you to know that after this is done, we will talk about what happened. Now let's try not to die out their Echo!"

Echo looks up at me deadpanning," Yeah as if you would tell me everything liar. Also, as if I would die by any Pokémon. I am a survivor who lived through your idiocy I can live through a little fight." Then she jumps away from me towards her side of the field.

Then I hear a laugh coming from across the field. I look up sweating from the heat to see Michio not wearing his signature yellow hazmat suit. Instead, I see him wearing a long sleeve red shirt, jeans and brown combat boots. Looking down I see his hazmat suit sprawled on the ground. When I look up to see his face I see his familiar gasmask still on his face.

Then another laugh bursts from Michio," You think a motivational speech about friendship, telling the truth and working together will help you win this battle. Think again Honey Ketchum for you are in my world now and in my world you will never win. Now say goodbye to your win streak so far because it will end you here and now. Come on out Burst let's show them how things work in my world!" Then a Pokéball with flames dancing around the ball is released from Michio's hand.

Landing on the field as a burst of flame shots behind it comes out a Pokémon I vagally remember. It stands up with the flames dancing around it. Then my Rotomdex fly's out of pocket to float in front of me buzzing. I touch the screen, and it buzzes again showing me information on the Pokémon it fronts me.

"Blaziken the fire chicken Pokémon. It is a firefighting type and final evolution of Torchic. It is known to be able to jump a building in a single bound." The Rotomdex flies back to my pocket. Thoughts race through my mind of how screwed Echo is. She will be lucky to not have life threatening injuries from a more powerful fully evolved Pokémon. I swear if she does end up with anything that will kill her, I will stop the battle and whack Michio so hard that he will be knocked into next week.

Then the ref stands up again," Now this match between both Pokémon will end when one or both Pokémon faint. If there are any injuries that cannot be taken care of by potions, I have a mini-Pokémon restoration kit on me. If you don't know how it works well let's just say the Pokémon needs to be in their Pokéball then put into this little case that will take anywhere of a minute to a day to fully heal the Pokémon inside." He points to a small red case with the Pokéball symbol surrounding the latch to open and close it. I felt relief from hearing this since I won't have to actually physically harm Michio if anything happens to Echo.

Michio slams his fist on the fireproof glass screaming," Yale you better start this match already your useless friend who showed up last week. I can't believe I let Henry talk me into having you travel with us." Michio breathes heavily tenses his shoulders then calms down.

The newly named Yale chuckles waving a green flag to signal the start of the battle. Michio points at Burst," Use Aerial Ace and Double Kick on Echo." The flames on the field burst higher than ever before. Echo seems more energized by the fire.

While Burst jumps into the air about to land I scream," Echo use Quick Attack to dodge then use Flame Charge when Burst least expects it." When I say this, it was almost too late. Burst flies down hitting Echo twice before punching her into the wall behind her. Blood drops off Echo while she stumbles trying to use Double Kick. It does not work instead she is grabbed out of the air and tossed onto one the active fire torrents. I hear screams of rage then I see Echo looking up at me blood seeping from her mouth.

" I am a survivor and even I have to admit I should have listened to you, but I don't regret trying it my way. You might say you will tell me everything, but you know you won't because you are afraid of others dying after knowing everything. Now stop being afraid to tell the truth of why Team Mafia is after you and how you even learned of it in the first place." Then she faints still in Bursts grasp.

I return Echo to her Pokéball then rush to Yale to heal her. Michio follows behind me with his Pokémon following him. I give Yale Echo's Pokéball, and he puts in the Pokémon restoration kit.

"Now due to the severe bleeding your Pokémon will be healed in three hours. You can have the restoration kit since I already have backups." He smiles handing me the box. I take it holding it for a second before putting it in my bookbag.

Michio bumps into my arm," Now wasn't that fun having a friendly battle between aquatics. I have to say I expected better from the girl who has never lost a battle so far. Then again it is your first time facing off against me who so far has three badges to your two."

I take out Mercy's Pokéball releasing him," Michio I don't need your attitude right now Echo's seriously hurt." Mercy hops onto my shoulder with worried eyes. He nuzzles my check cooing softly reassuring me that everything will be alright.

Then taking a deep breath Michio looks me dead in the eye," Your right and I'm sorry for winning at the expense of your Pokémon's health. Now we need to go find Henry and Rain. I bet they are still at the ramen place fanboying over that Eevee trainer." He walks over to the door when the lights turn off. Then the backup red lights turn on along with blaring alarms.

That is when the doors are blown off its hinges throwing Michio back towards me. I catch him stumbling a bit then letting him go when we both catch our balance. A tall figure wearing peppermint red with white striped suit and mask walks in along with six other people. I recognize Hazel, Psypsy, Jane and Jayden. Coming out behind them are a slew of different Pokémon.

The peppermint man walks forward grabs my chin saying," Oh Honey Ketchum it is so nice to meet the person trying to stop me but then again this will be the last time since you will die here today. Now be a good teenager with friends and stand still this won't hurt much." I felt genuine fear when I recognized this was the leader of Team Mafia and he is here to kill me and everyone else here.

The peppermint man lets go of my chin walking back to his group.

Then he turns back around his eyehole on his mask stares right into my soul," Now that brings me to the question you are about to ask Honey. Peppermint man how did you know where I was going to be. My answer dear scourge of my life is the tidbits of the future I see. It is amazing that this time I saw more than I usually do hence why me and my people are here to kill you to change the future for the better of Team Mafia. Then again to you it is a cause of misfortune dear bringer of downfall." I felt a heavy weight of fright at knowing that today is the day I will most likely die.

Peppermint man turns to his left tilting his head towards Hazel," Now this man here wants revenge on how you treated his girlfriend earlier today, so he gets first shot at you." Then he looks at his watch," Sadly I can't stay since I already have a prior engagement with burning down Motostoke. Now do excuse me misfortune and friends since this will hopefully be the last time I see any of you." Then he walks out the broken door giving a little wave of goodbye to me.

Then I hear Hazel chuckle cracking his hands before slamming his left foot on the floor breaking the floor creating a crater below him," I will be having fun killing you with my bare hands after the way you treated Jane." Then he rushes over about to punch me in the gut," Now die!"

Mercy flies in the way using Fury Attack to drive Hazel away from me. It hit two times knocking both Pokémon and man a few feet back.

Michio raises his hand shouting," Burst use Flamethrower!" It hits the Pokémon standing beside the two strange men I did not recognize. They must be important to be here

Then Yale pulls out two Pokéballs mumbling," Brother one left, brother three is here, and where is brother two? They are almost always together when they are trying to eliminate threats. Oh no brother two must be with Henry right now." Then he throws his two Pokéballs shouting," Go Cursola use Ancient Power on those Team Mafia members. Manectric use Thunder Wave on the same people."

Cursola waves its ghostly tendrils summoning five rocks with remains of dead ancient Pokémon throwing it at five out of six of the Team Mafia members. It did not hit Psypsy instead hitting Jane who threw herself in front of him blocking it from him.

Then the Manectric's fur ruffles then shouts releasing a paralyzing wave of thunder causing the people and Pokémon to fall down shaking with paralysis.

Michio points at the door," Follow me I know a secret way out of here." Then he runs out the broken doors followed by Burst, Yale and Yale's Pokémon. Mercy is on the ground paralyzed.

I follow after him making sure to return Mercy to his Pokéball. Michio leads us to the opposite hallway to a red door marked employees only in bold white letters.

Before he could open the door I hear shouting coming from behind us," Stop right there!" This causes Michio to curse before telling Burst to kick the door down. Burst does so then throws the door at the grunts following us.

Michio leads us into a well furnished lounge going to the opposite wall with a single drink vending machine leaning against it. Then he puts in a code causing the vending machine to open with the drinks moving like a door to reveal a dark staircase going down into the unknown.

Then he moves to the right side of the room pushing the sofa out of the way to reveal another staircase then he does it again to the carpet to reveal a hatch underneath it," Now they won't know which secret passage way we took. Now we need to take the first passage way the vending machine to go to the surface. The other two passages are death traps."

Then he leads us to the first passage closing it behind us. Shouting could be heard from the room we just left. I follow after Michio, with Yale behind me, going down the stairs to the unknown. Hopefully Team Mafia does not find this secret passage.

Chapter Text

After what felt like hours of winding passages that lead to an underground bunker door. We go inside after Michio puts in the code. Inside is a large room filled with weapons lining the walls. He walks over to one wall pulling off one of the modified flamethrowers.

He laughs turning to us," Okay Honey and Yale we need to arm ourselves because we don't know if any grunts are waiting for us outside. This is one time I am glad Kabu told me about the emergency escape tunnel and weapons rooms." He then proceeds to pick up a few guns and ammo in his bag that appeared out of nowhere. It makes me wonder if people in this world have secret pocket dimensions on them or something like that.

Then I go over to the weapon rack on my right picking up a few knifes and a small pistol. I am hesitant to use a gun since that is what killed me in my first life, but I need to use one now to defend myself and my friends.

Michio scoffs," Grab more than a single pistol and knives. What are you going to do throw those things while the enemies will be shooting at us? Seriously Honey grab more guns even a flame thrower would be better than knives!"

I sigh picking another gun a rifle this time," Fine Michio but I don't know how to use a gun." Yale pats my shoulder giving me a light smile.

Then he just picks up anything next to him including a few bombs packing it a bag. I then picked up a bag filled with ammo for my pistol. After a few more minutes gathering supplies Michio leads us out of the room to the door on the opposite side of the room where we entered.

Then screaming is heard from the door we just came from," If you don't open this door, I will blow it up!"

Michio curses under his breath," Yeah as if I would open the door for a potential murder." Then he leads us away out the escape tunnel.

Then Yale grabs one his bombs fumbling with it," Well hope you like death by explosion!" Then he throws the bomb quickly closing the door behind him. An explosion could be heard along with screams of pain.

Then we run in the opposite direction with Michio leading us away from the explosion. After I guess an hour, we reached a hatch.

"Now there might be grunts waiting there to kill us since you know peppermint man said he knew certain things. Now have your weapons and Pokémon ready for a fight," I say grabbing a Pokéball releasing Minuet. " Now Minuet we are going to be fighting for our lives out there."

Minuet touches my leg humming," I will help in any way I can. I can't lose another trainer,"

Michio scoffs," I already have Lava my Larvesta and Burst to help. Now let's go out there and take out those losers." He is about to open the hatch when Yale grabs his hand.

"Wait I hear something happening up there. It might be safer to wait before we go up there," Yale pulls Michio away from the hatch. Then I listen and hear screaming from above. No wonder Yale wanted to wait before we go out. Something terrible is happening up there and we don't know who or what is up there. For all we know it could be Team Mafia killing civilians or anyone who is trying to stop them.

After waiting a while, the screams died down that is when something grabbed the hatch on the other side trying to open it. I jump into action grabbing the door trying to keep it shut it doesn't fully work. It just delays the enviable of whoever is out there from finding us.

Yale, Michio and the Pokémon jump into action grabbing onto me or the hatch trying to keep it shut. Then I let go after having my grip slip from my sweat and the hatch opens.

Chapter Text

When the hatch opens, I see a very familiar tattoo of a Toxtricy beating a drum in full color. Oh no my first rival from elementary school Charles Karp the man who makes my life horrible by just breathing. His stupid sparkly long purple hair and eyes. His idiotic gangster cliché outfit with chains strewn throughout it. Oh, I just hate him and his pretty face.

Hate boils over when I hear a shot ring out. I quickly check to see who shot their gun.

I see Yale looking down on at a pistol that fell out of his hands," Opps I dropped the gun and it went off. Hope it didn't hit anyone."

Michio whacks the back of Yale's head cursing," You idiot you could have killed me." He points at the wall he was standing beside a few seconds ago with a bullet lodged a few inches where his head was earlier.

Then he throws a rock at a big red button right next to the hatch activating a laser net like thing to cover the hatch. It grazes Charles hand causing him to hiss retracting his hand from the entrance.

I grab Michio's hand," Hey I know the person who opened the hatch. His name is Charles Karp he is probably here to help."

A light British accent is heard from above," Oh Honeybee is that you I here. When I received news that Team Mafia was here to kill someone, they deemed a threat here I did not expect to see you. I asked every person I beat up over here who they were after, and they told me a name Honey Ketchum. Imagine my surprise to hear your name instead of Henrys. Oh, by the way where is Henry?"

I sweat at that remembering that Henry and Rain are in as much danger as the rest of us are right now. Then a thought struck me what if the second brother Yale mentioned has Henry and Rain.

Then I slap my cheek I need to stay calm right now. I will worry about what happened to the rest of my friends after we get out of here.

Michio deadpans," Yeah I am not turning off the lasers until I get conformation on everything you just said." He is still slapping Yale's face. Then Minuet gets in between them slapping both Michio and Yale growling.

"Now to get back to more important matters little hothead check your phone," Charles purple eyes can barely be seen through the laser net. I laugh inside feeling pity that when Michio gets up there Charles will be beaten to death for making fun of him.

"What did you just call me punk," Michio looks up smoking rising out of his gasmask. Then he rubs said mask checking his phone.

He tilts his head picks up another rock throwing it at the button," Well Kabu just sent a message saying I can trust you since you are here with Clover." The laser net disappears along with my will to not strangle anyone.

Michio leads up to the surface where I see Charles surrounded by the knocked-out bodies of Team Mafia grunts and their Pokémon. Clover stands behind him with disgust on her face.

Clover's face brightens up," Finally we can leave this awful place. Now bodyguard carry me away from here."

Charles picks her up in a princess carry," Okay princess let's get out of here."

Michio holds up his hand," Wait a minute we are not leaving until we find Henry."

I cough," Don't forget Rain." We walk away from the bodies to see Motostoke on fire. People are screaming and being chased by Team Mafia. People are dying or being killed by either fire, Team Mafia grunts or their Pokémon. It is pure chaos raining down in front of my eyes.

Charles sighs," You mean my best friend is not here with you." Then he looks me in the eye," Honeybee I trusted you to look after Henry when I left three years ago. I shouldn't have after all you are an awful Pokémon trainer."

Then he looks over to the chaos," Now it is time to save these poor people and more importantly rescue Henry." He puts Clover down then rushes forward to help.

I look at the rest of the group," Come on we need to help the citizens here."

Chapter Text

I threw my knives at Team Mafia members in the midst of the chaos. Yale fires off a few rounds at the grunts blocking our path. It worked somewhat until another round came from behind us. They shot at us and Michio was hit on his left arm.

Blood splatters from the wound hitting his Pokémon. Michio grunts then tears off some fabric to dress his wound all the while the rest of us surround him keeping him from being shot at again.

We move as a group shooting at the invaders while following Charles to the ramen place. The Pokémon using various moves to help keep the spreading fire at bay. Hopefully Henry and Rain will be alright when we get there.

Then in the distance I hear a siren from a fire truck or at least an ambulance or police car. Then I see a large fire truck ahead of us putting out the fires and helping the civilians to safety. Magi walk out of the fire truck smiling while holding a Squirtle using Water Pulse.

Then he turns around smirking," Hey baby brother what are you doing here. Last I heard from the league you were kicked out of the Alolan Island trails?" Then he drops the Squirtle to pull Charles out of the way of falling debris.

"You need to be aware of your environment. What were you thinking by coming here Charles?" Magi then let's go of Charles walking back to the fire truck," Never mind I don't have time for this."

Charles smiles sadly," Love you to brother." Then he walks over to Michio," Watch Clover for me I need to talk to Magi about something very important that is not meant for little children to hear."

Then he runs off to catch up to Magi. Clover looks at Michio saying she does not need anyone to watch her. Then she huffs walking over to me blushing grabs my hand pulling me a few feet from the boys.

She blushes harder and turns her hand away," I just wanted to ask how you know Michio Igarashi. Also, I heard you took Rain Everstone and not me?"

I look down at her trying to smile," I met Michio when I was first starting my journey. Rain I helped him with advice on not giving up on his dream and he decided he wanted to follow me after that. Clover the only reason I allowed Rain to follow me is because he honestly has zero confidence in himself as a Pokémon trainer unlike you." Hope my answers satisfied the little she devils that will probably cause my death one day. No Henry would be the one that would cause me to die.

Clover lets go of my hand," It's not like I wanted to go with you anyway but if you change your mind, I might be your campion." Then blushing hard Clover runs back to Michio. Heh that girl really is a tsundere.

When I am waling back over to the group, I feel someone tugging on my jacket. Turning around I see a little old lady holding a bundle in her arms.

The little old lady grins a toothless grin," Little lady, could you please hold my grandson for me while I go search for my granddaughter. I lost her during the confusion of the fire burning down our building. I don't want to bring my grandson with me while looking for her. Could you please look after him for me."

I was going to accept her request when I saw other old ladies trying to give babies to other people. This does not feel right at all why are there so many babies in one place? There is no hospital near here.

I back away slowly," Ma'am I think it would be best to keep the baby with you to find your granddaughter."

The little old lady grins evilly," Oh Honey Ketchum you should have never told me no." Then she drops the baby in my arms then runs away. Oh no not again why does this seem to be a theme of women dropping things into my arms.

I try to catch the little old lady but lost her in the crowd. Might as well see if this is a baby or not. I feel my heart race while I unwrap the cloth to see a baby shaped bomb.

Chapter Text

I scream," Watch out the babies are bombs." Then I throw the baby bomb up into the air where it explodes.

The crowd of people start screaming and throwing the baby bombs away from them. They run around in a blind panic when some of the bombs go off in the crowd. It is like watching a horrible situation become worse due to people panicking.

My eyes widen Michio, Clover and Yale are over there. I rush over pushing my way through the crowd to spot my friends. Then I see golden blond hair and try to get over there. I had no luck when the crowd sweeps me away from where I spot them.

I am pushed through the waves of panicked people until I find a side ally. I make my way over there and stop to catch my breath wincing from the pain. I check my sides hissing when pain surges there must be a bruise since it doesn't feel like my ribs are broken.

Then I hear whimpering from behind the dumpster. I go to investigate pulling back a box to discover a dirty toddler. The little bluenett looks up at me whimpering and holding their tummy.

I pull the child into my arms humming a lullaby," It's okay little one. Let's find your parents after everything calms down." I bounce the little girl up and down until the child falls asleep. Now who the heck would leave their toddler alone during this evasion. I swear this is just like how I found Henry when we were little. Him hiding in a dirty ally crying while I was escaping people trying to kill me. I comforted him and eventually my father found us. Henry was taken back home while I was grounded for a month.

Tears fall down my face I miss Henry. I want my best friend to be here beside me. Then I turn around punching someone's face only to see Henry on the ground rolling and wailing from the pain. Rain picks up Henry patting his back.

"Henry what the heck you know I punch people who try to surprise me. Honestly this is not the first time you should know better. Also didn't you notice I was holding a toddler?" I angerly whisper while shaking my left fist at him.

Henry rubbing his crying face mask whines," Honey you know I haven't seen since you left to fight Michio today. When you left me and Rain were kidnapped by a comically evil person. Oh, also the Eevee trainer was kidnapped with us, but he sacrificed himself in the end to give us time to escape. Then I saw you in the ally and I was like I should scare Honey. I didn't know you were going to punch me! You could have broken my favorite mask."

Henry's mask has tears coming out from somewhere. I hope it's just tears this time and not fake teardrops. Oh, wait is this a fake teardrop bottle I see in his hands.

"Henry I'm sorry for punching you but what do you mean someone kidnapped you and Rain. Was it someone from Team Mafia?" I bounce the toddler up and down trying to calm myself down after hearing the word kidnap.

Rain answers for Henry," Well the guy is working for Team Mafia based of his clothes and speech of how great Team Mafia is. Now we should not stay here since you know that guy is tracking us down."

I stop bouncing the toddler to rub my forehead," Okay let's go to the ramen place that's where I was going with others to rescue you guys." Then I start walking out of the ally way heading to the ramen place.

Henry walks up to me," Hey that might not be a good idea,"

I slow down." Oh, and why is that, Henry?"

"Well since Team Mafia is most likely there waiting to kill us!" Henry tries to stop me, but I push him away.

"Well that is a chance I am willing to take to find the others." I peek my head out of the ally to see that the crowd has dispersed.

Rain gently tugs onto my sleeve," Honey please listen to Henry. Instead of walking into the situation why don't we just call the others instead? It would save time going into a very obvious trap and we can meet up somewhere else less dangerous."

"Rain is right we should just call Michio to set up another meeting place," Henry jumps in front of me stopping me from walking away.

I grit my teeth, "Fine, Henry hold the kid while I make the call." I hold back my anger and gently put the toddler in Henry's arms. Both Henry and Rain sigh in relief in changing my mind.

I pull out my phone dialing Charles phone number. It dials then picks up," Honeybee meet up at the fire truck. We are having a face-off with Team Mafia over here and need back up. So, get your butt over here now!" Then the call is cancelled by Charles.

Chapter Text

"Guys we are going to drop this toddler off with the nearest adult then we are going to the fire truck. Where Team Mafia is having their final stand." I walk around trying to find a police officer or anyone to give this child to.

After walking for a bit, we stopped in front of a police station, but it was closed. I sigh," 'Okay new plan we're taking the kid with us to fight Team Mafia. What will go wrong?"

Henry moves to speak when the toddler wakes up and turns into a blue gelatin-like substance. Henry tries to throw it off him, but it enlarges and surrounds him in large clear blue sphere. Henry slams his fist against the sphere trying to force his way out, but it sucked him into the center where Henry passes out from the lack of air.

I hesitantly touch the gooey sphere," Henry I know your past out but I promise I will get you out of there." My hand is pulled through the gooey mass trying to capture me. Rain latches onto my stomach pulling me out of it.

"Are you insane Honey?! You could have ended up in there with Henry!" Rain turns me around shaking me by my shoulders. He is right I am stupid for touching that thing. My rotomdex beeps then flies out of pocket. It hovers in front of my face facing the blob.

I touch the screen opening it to see the information displayed on it. It flies in front of the thing scanning it.

"Beep Ditto detected. It is a newly discovered Pokémon from the Kanto region. It is known for its ability to change itself into another Pokémon." I quickly check to make sure the Rotomdex was right, and it was. A Ditto all the way out here meant that the Mew Two project was completed either recently or a few years ago. Then something struck me how can a Ditto take the shape of a human when it is not possible for them to do so.

"Rain I think this Ditto might be an experiment of Team Mafia. You know that means that a Team Mafia member is here controlling that Ditto." I grab the Rotomdex putting it back into my pocket.

Rain pales," Dang it why does it feel like this Ditto is that comically evil guy's Pokémon."

Before I could answer a loud slow clap is heard coming from behind me. I quickly turn around keeping an eye Henry while looking at who was clapping.

A tall muscular man wearing a modified black armor with the signature golden M comes out the shadow. His long ragged red cape flowing behind him. His long waist length spiked white hair covers his left eye leaving his bright red right eye to shine with hatred.

With a deep voice the man speaks," Ah if it is not my lost prey Rain and Henry and guest. It seems you did not listen when I said that I would catch and kill you in the name of the glorious leader of Team Mafia whose name shall never be said to such lesser beings such as you. Now let me kill you so that I Aper the second in command of Team Mafia may get back to more pressing things."

I hold up my hand," Wait a minute you mean to say you are the second in command of Team Mafia and want to kill us, right? Now instead of killing us right now let's Pokémon battle since I am sick and tired of Team Mafia grunts trying to kill me." I whistle at Minuet to come to me. She rushes over to me hugging my leg eager to battle. Aper's face turns red from anger and steam rises out from his ears.

Before Aper can say anything, Rain freaks out," Honey are you crazy this is the second in command of Team Mafia that me and Henry only escaped from because the Eevee trainer scarified himself to allow us to escape. Now you want to battle him are you even thinking about the fact that you will lose you idiot." He starts to flail his arms around pacing.

"Hey, your right I am an idiot, but I am an idiot that is tired of running away from people trying to kill me and I know you are to. Now let's team up and defeat this so called second in command together to rescue Henry from that Ditto prison. Actually, now that's a good question Team Mafia guy is Henry okay in there?" I rub Minuet's head nervously while looking at the passed-out Henry.

Aper shaking from anger pulls out a pokeball tossing it in the air," Now you have truly made me angry little girl. I will grant your request for a Pokémon battle, but I must warn you, you will lose. Now as for your friend in the Ditto he has about thirty minutes before he dies from suffocation."

Rain pulls out a Pokéball releasing Trapinch," Honey I swear if I die, I will haunt you from beyond the grave. Heck if we both die, I will still haunt you. Now let's win this and rescue Henry from the Ditto bubble

Chapter Text

I deadpan," Rain do you really have to make a threat about haunting me if this does not go right? Also, when did you get so sassy?" Minuet jumps in front of me to stand beside Trapinch waiting for the battle to start.

Rain sniffs tears leaking out of his half closed stormy blue eyes," Of course I need to make death threats you are known to be unreliable at the best of times and for your information I have always been sassy."

"Stop talking now and let's battle," screams Aper. After we shut up Aper calms down and releases his Pokémon.

"Zoroark use Night Slash," Aper smirks.

Rain shots," Trapinch dodge and use Bite!"

Zoroark rushed forward with dark energy surrounding it tries to sink its claws into Trapinch but it was too slow. Trapinch leaps out of the way and uses Bite sinking its jaw onto Zoroark's arm. Zoroark screeches in pain and claws its arm onto the ground trying to loosen Trapinchs hold.

I see an opportunity," Minuet use Ice Shard on Zoroark while it's distracted." Minuet puts her paw like hands together forming an ice shard between it.

The ice crystal between Minuets hands is shot at Zoroark but Zoroark blocks using Trapinch as a shield. Trapinch falls over then a light forms around Trapinch. Screeching Trapinch evolves into a shiny Vibrava.

While that is happening Rain and I are silently communicating the face that we will lose this fight most likely and that Rain will get his revenge on me someday.

Minuet is grabbed by Zoroark and thrown it at the newly evolved Vibrava heavily damaging both Pokémon.

Aper slow claps again getting on my nerves," Now brats this the end for you. Zoroark finish this with Swift!"

Zoroark smirks its claws glowing then raking it through the air releases yellow stars on Minuet and Vibrava. A dust cloud forms over all three Pokémon.

Rain shouts," Vibrava I know you can hear me buddy hang in there you are my best friend in the world. I could never forgive myself if you died when we have never fulfilled our dreams to travel the world."

The dust cloud starts to disappear to reveal Minuet passed out on the ground. I grab my pokeball," Minuet return you did great out there."

After returning Minuet I see Vibrava flapping its wings weakly before falling over from exhaustion. Vibrava passes out. Rain returns Vibrava after giving it words of encouragement.

Aper still slow clapping shakes his head. His eyes then go psycho," You lost this battle now you shall lose your life! Zoroark use Night Slash on the brats!"

Before Zoroark could jump us, a fire truck came out of nowhere and hits it. We are saved by truck-kun wait shouldn't it be the other way around.

Aper returns his Zoroark," Oh this is the last straw I will be back someday to finish the job of killing you Rain, Henry and insignificant one. Mark my words I will kill you for the glory of Team Mafia!"

He ran away into the shadows his Ditto releasing Henry and rolling after him.

Chapter Text

The truck reeves chasing after Aper. I stop for a moment wondering if that Zoroark died when it was hit by the truck or since it is a Pokémon and naturally stronger than a human would it be alive? It brings up also the question if a Pokémon if it is caught can it die from injuries since most Pokémon are more durable in their final evolution? The final question is if a Pokémon is dead would it be able to be returned to its pokeball? Now for the answer I don't know if Zoroark is alive or not.

After thinking about that I remember that Henry was just released from the Ditto. I run over with Rain to check on Henry. He lays there his chest not moving. His hands seem paler than usual. It seems like Henry died via Ditto. He always said if he was going to die it would be at a food eating computation and not by a pokemon.

Rain kneels down by his body slamming his fists onto Henry's chest," Breath dang it!" His fists slam down several times on Henry's chest. He almost gives up until I hear a little cough from Henry.

Rain flips him over on his side to help him breath better. Henry coughs a few more time then rolls over onto his hands and knees. Blue gelatin-like substance comes out of his mouth. He gags after a minute then sits down rubbing his forehead. The blue substance on him comes off and rolls away down an ally along with what Henry threw up. Most likely to find the rest of itself.

I pat Henry's back," Hey, are you feeling any better?" That is when I realized I asked a stupid question. Of course, Henry will not be alright after being almost killed by a Ditto.

Henry lifts up his sick face emoji mask," Honey I am starving. Where is my backpack with all my food coupons and food?"

I look at Henry deadpanning," Henry you were just throwing up Ditto bits and you are hungry? What is wrong with you?!" I whack the back of his heading causing him to whimper pitifully.

Rain stands up," Henry your bookbag is gone. Also, even if you had it the food and coupons would be ruined anyway by that Ditto."

Henry slams his fist on the concrete sobbing," No! I was looking forward to having my special limited edition spicy bread curry! How could you let it be damaged Honey! How could you."

While Henry was complaining I heard a horn blaring behind me. Oh no truck-kun is back to Iseki me. Not again truck-kun I was almost killed by you in my last life I will not let it happen this time. Especially when Arceus would just reincarnate me again while complaining over how I failed again. I will not be criticized by a large deer like God that terrifies me again.

I grab Rain and Henry pulling them after me," Run as fast as you can guys there is an insane person trying to run us over!"

It was futile after running a few steps the truck caught up to us. It swings around and I see it is the same fire truck that ran after Aper after hitting Aper's Zoroark. The door opens and someone grabs Henry and pulls them into the car.

I scream," Nooo Henry you had so much to live for!" Rain stumbles over the uneven pavement. I hold on his black Gigianmax Butterfree shirt. I let go accidently and watch Rain stumble again.

Rain lags behind the truck coming back towards him," Honey run I will distract the driver by using myself as a sacrifice! Run you fool as fast as you can!" The door opens and Rain is pulled into the fire truck.

"Rain nooo your sacrifice shall not be in vain!" I run faster almost losing the truck until I see it out of my peripheral vision. The door opens and a hand grabs me pulling me into the fire truck.

Chapter Text

I headbutt the person who dragged me into the fire truck. Scratching and biting also occurred until someone slaps me across the face.

"Honey get a hold of yourself it's me the fabulous Magi Karp! Just so you know you will pay for ruining my beautiful face later after we drive the rest of Team Mafia out of Motostoke." Magi's ocean blue green eyes glint with almost concealed hatred.

I am pushed to the back of the fire truck right next to Henry. Rain is on the other side of Henry nervously playing with a quick ball. I don't recognize it since I have never seen him with a great ball before.

Henry is stuffing his face with mini cakes," Honey he has food!" Henry lifts up the bottom of the mask enough to eat. Rain does not even respond to Henry hitting in the face with his food.

I don't even respond to him to busy looking out the car window. I see collapsed buildings along with ambulances crowding the streets. People and Pokémon are being carried away to hopefully somewhere safe to heal.

It took a minute, but we eventually reach the front gate of Motostoke that leads to the wild area. There I see Team Mafia being pushed back towards the gate. I see Clover, Charles, Michio and Yale fighting together. It is now dark outside the stars shining in the sky.

Magi open up the truck door," Ah it is a great night to defeat some evil team. Quick question where is Charles and the rest of your friends?"

Then Charles comes out of nowhere leaving the group to jump into the area where Team Mafia was occupying.

Magi sighs," That is like Charles to jump into danger while giving me a heart attack. Well can't let him have all the fun now, can we?" He sends out his Squirtle to use as a Water Gun.

Henry sends out his Inteleon to help fight off the Team Mafia grunts that were advancing towards us. Rain grabs my bookbag and takes out a gun to shoot people down. I send out Balwin and Mercy to help me push back Team Mafia to outside the Motostoke front gate.

Eventually I am able to get to the rest of the group. It could not have been more than an hour into the battle when Aper appeared to help Team Mafia. Then Psypsy and the gang appeared along with Hazel to help Aper push back the Motostoke forces.

From there it became an issue of Team Mafia advancing. Them winning then being pushed back. Trainers and Pokémon dying on both sides. Then Team Mafia being pushed back due to reinforcements from the people of Motostoke. Then more death from both sides. Team Mafia reinforcements arrive then they advance again. It became a cycle of one side winning then the other side gains an advantage that pushes the other back.

It went on like this until the sun rose overhead. The loudspeakers of the city activated with a loud screech," People of Motostoke do not worry the Pokémon League has sent Elite trainers to help take back the city. They should be arriving now to help. Please evacuate the area while the Elite trainers deal with the situation." Chairman Rose's calm voice echoed throughout the area.

Chapter Text

After a moment of silence clapping and shouting could be heard from around me. Trainers and Pokémon of Motostoke are celebrating the fact that the Elite trainers are here to save us from Team Mafia.

Then the intercoms came on again," Team Mafia retreat for now since we can always come back and finish the job. Inhabitants of Motostoke be warned Team Mafia will come back to finish destroying Galar starting with Motostoke once again. Goodbye for now."

Mass panic seeped through the crowd. People panic over the thought of Team Mafia coming back to destroy Motostoke and the uncertainty of when they would do it.

While that is happening Team Mafia retreats out the front gate into the wild area away from the crowd of civilians and trainers of Motostoke.

Then Aper the last Team Mafia member stops at the gate smiling," Here is a last present from me. Hope you enjoy the loss of your gym. Until next time when Motostoke and Galar shall be nothing but ash beneath Team Mafia's feet"

Aper pulls out a trigger and pushes the button. Behind me I feel the explosion from the stadium gym being blown up. Several people and Pokémon were knocked into the ground from the force of the explosion.

When I lifted my head, I see Aper waving then running out the front gate. Motostoke lost this fight with Team Mafia and paid the price. The city is in ruin with only a few buildings left standing. The gym that has been here since the Pokémon League took over Galar is destroyed. People and Pokémon are dead their bodies litter the streets. Some of their bodies are burned beyond recognition of who they once were.

There is nothing I can do, and it is all my fault. If I did not create Team Mafia in the first place none of this would have happened. If I was prepared, I could have helped prevent this.

I felt something gently touch me causing me to hiss in pain. I lift up my head to see a man wearing a combination of the bug and electric type specialist gym uniform reach their hand out to me. Blood drips down my face onto the ground.

The I see the man has short black hair and stormy blue grey eyes smiling," Kid let's get you to the makeshift Pokémon hospital."

He lifts me up into his arms and carries me away from square to the makeshift camp that is further into the city. I feel shocked that the current Galarian champion Bisck is carrying me out of here instead of his brother Rain. That is proven true until Bisck found Rain a few feet away from me.

He rushes over and puts me onto the ground. He then grabs Rain and hugs him," I am so glad I made it to make sure you are okay. Now let's go meet up with Chairmen Rose."

Rain huffs," Okay but we better hurry before the Elite trainers arrive." That seemed to be the signal since a flood of Elite trainers rushed past us to go out the gate to chase Team Mafia.

I pass out after I feel something hit me on the back of the head. When I wake up, I see someone hovering above me. My instincts take over and punch whoever is standing over me and my fist goes right through them.

Oh no this can only mean one of two things I am going insane or that is a ghost standing over me. I am hoping it is the insanity bit since I do not want to be dealing with ghosts right now. Especially since it is not all Ghosts Type Day where the world and the ghost type dimension cross over together for one night.

It is also considered a holiday where people must dress up as Pokémon to lessen their chances of being kidnapped and taken away to the ghost type demission. At least there is candy handed out at people's doors just like Halloween.

Then again, every year I am almost taken away by ghost types due to smelling sweet to them. I am screwed if it is the holiday.

Then my Rotomdex flies out of pocket buzzing," Phantump the little stump Pokémon. It is a grass and ghost type Pokémon. When a lost child dies in a forest their spirit possess a nearby stump."

I grab the Rotomdex and volt myself off the bed to the other side of the tent. The Phantump follows after happily waving its little stumpy arms.

Then it touches my face, and I feel my eyes roll back in shock. I wake back up to feel my head banging with pain and the sensation of being dragged off somewhere. Oh no the Phantump must be dragging me off to the ghost world. Not today I kick off whoever is dragging me away.

I hear an angry brit shouting in pain," Gosh Honeybee is this how you thank your savior?! I rescued you from that Phantump and you had to kick me?!"

I stand up brushing the dirt off me to see I am wearing a Cinderace outfit," Charles did you dress me up as Cinderace?!" Then I see Charles wearing an Amped form Toxtricity outfit.

He scoffs in disgust," As if I want to look at you unclothed. No, Clover dressed you as that after the whole Motostoke gym blew up yesterday. Good thing too since it is ghost day. Now let's get you to the safe house so I can go hunting for Snorunt."

"You do realize that you can find Snorunt when it is snowing in the wild area and aren't they ice types not poison types? I thought you only go after poison types, Charles?" I tease him while following him into the forest. Are we in the wild area or somewhere else? Where are we?

"Honeybee you know I also train Pokémon with split evolutions like the Toxtricity line. I do prefer poison types, but I will use Pokémon with split evolutions. It also makes easier to use Pokémon like that for double battles anyway since you know I am a double battle expert." He smirks then jumps out of the way of a Frostlass.

I also jump out of the way, and it went on like this until we were at a clearing filled with tents. There are people dressed as Pokémon leading children around to certain tents with a lantern in front to trick or treat. There is a large bonfire in the middle with people cooking for everyone. there are people singing and dancing the traditional rituals to ward off ghost type Pokémon.

It has been a tradition to hold a festival on ghost day since ancient times when the people found out that by doing this the ghost type Pokémon calm down and leave until next year. Some of them though we stay near the festivities to watch until morning when they leave.

For the ghost type Pokémon that stay behind that become too aggressive the traditional ghost hunts take care of them. The ghost hunters dress up as knights in Galar but in other regions they dress as the most prominent warriors of their culture.

The ghost hunters are also allowed to catch any ghost type Pokémon they defeat in battle if the Pokémon wants to be caught. The reason for the Pokémon being given a choice ties in the fact that ghosts are more powerful on this night than any other Pokémon type. It is also seen as an honor to catch a ghost type or evolve one on this night as well.

We walk onto the camp and at the last second I see Michio dressed in grey armor fighting with his Blaziken against a Litwick. Michio wins and catches the Pokémon. I can still see him battling until we were at the bonfire.

There I see Clover dressed as a Rillaboom talking with Rain and Henry. Rain is dressed as a shiny Flygon and Henry is wearing a Intelion outfit. They are sitting on some logs and eating hotdogs. I see Yale wearing a Gigantamax Pickachu outfit complete with a hat that has the clouds printed on it.

Charles snorts after reaching the group," Well Honeybee this is it I am joining the ghost hunters tonight. Have fun staying safe at the bonfire." He runs off to the ghost hunter tent to get his armor for tonight.

Rain looks up," Hey Honey want some spooky dogs?" He holds out a hotdog that has little fangs on it. It kind of looks like a vampire.

I shake my head no," Let's tell some ghost stories then go trick or treating." Everyone agrees and for the rest of the night we ate shared ghost stories and went trick or treating. We all did this to try and forget the fact that Motosoke is destroyed and many people and Pokémon are dead.

I stand by my friends thinking about yesterday and what will Chairmen Rose's response be to Team Mafia destroying Motostoke. Henry leads us to the makeshift cafeteria for breakfast. After sitting down Kabu walks out and stands in front of everyone by his sides are Magi and Peony.

Kabu pulls out a megaphone," Dear people of Galar I have been given instructions by Chairmen Rose. The borders to Galar are closed due to the terrorist attack by Team Mafia on every city with a gym. Due to this the gym challenge will be postponed for the rest of the gym season until new information is given. Everyone who has survived will be put into camps in the wild area with a gym leader being in charge of each camp. Each gym leader will be given rules to implement in their camp."

Kabu nods to Peony to speak. Peony takes the megaphone. He holds up to his mouth grinning.

Then he speaks," Me and the other two gym leaders here decided to combine our power to make a mega camp! It will be called the super ultra-mega ultimate camp of legend! Where everyone will live together and do Poke Jobs to earn money for the camp. Any extra money can be used for yourself but remember the more Poke Jobs you take the better the camp will be."

People started whispering to each other about the money issues the camp is facing. A few are moaning and complaining they did not want to take Poke Jobs just to have most of the money go the camp instead of keeping the money for themselves. The majority whisper worries of not being able to work since they did not have Pokémon or not being able to provide for their families.

Then Magi grins and takes the megaphone from Peony," If you're worried about not being able to work due to not having Pokémon no worries you can work around the camp. You can join the mess hall or join up with Pokémon trainers on simple jobs like berry hunting instead but be warned if you are hurt, we will try our best to help but due to the shortage of healing supplies there will be limits to what we can do."

Then he started laughing and it was honestly a little bit disturbing after hearing what Kabu said earlier. That we will be stuck in a camp run by the first three gym leaders in the Wild Area. This is great being stuck in an area that Team Mafia fled to after the battle of Motostoke. What could go wrong you may ask. Anything and everything can and will go wrong in an instance.

Kabu grads the megaphone after slapping Magi upside the head. Kabu's forehead is throbbing from irritation," Now to clarify what Magi said about the limited healing items. Yes, there limits to what we can do here medically due to most of the supplies being destroyed but we do have a Nurse Joy that can help with healing your Pokémon. There is also a doctor who should be here tomorrow with more medical supplies for the camp. Now if you have a question please ask now or write it down and put it into the new complaint box." Kabu points to a large metal box that on the front in cursive is scribbled complaint box.

A few people raised their hands waiting for Kabu to call on them. When a voice rings out from behind me," Well, well, well can't have the good doctor coming in without a reason now can't we?" I turn around to see a man wearing an all-pink pimp looking outfit leaning on a tree. He is smoking a long thin cigar. His long wavy dirty blonde hair surrounds his face. When he tilts his head towards the crowd smirking, I can see he is wearing pink heart shaped glasses over his eyes.

Then it all happened so quickly. The Pink Man motioned behind him, and several Team Mafia members came out from the forest around the camp surrounding it completely.

Then he lifts himself from his position taking a drag from his cigar," Now to make this easier for you to understand I am Asmodeus Lord the right-hand man of the glorious leader of Team Mafia. I have been tasked to make your life a living hell by pillaging the medical supplies and taking the civilians somewhere special. Gym leaders are exempt from being taken or hurt but the rest of you are fair game."

Then he walks a little closer to the crowd," Now I suggest to you to give up since you will not win and it will mean less causality reports for me to give to the boss, but fighting would be fine. You will lose and die by doing so but you do you."

He takes another drag of his cigar blowing the smoke into the face of a small child. Causing the child to cough. the child's father grabs the kid and rushes further into the crowd.

Asmodeus sighs flicking his wrist to get rid of the cigar ash on his sleeve," Now give me all your supplies and civilians and there will be no killing."

Kabu stiffens in anger but before he can speak a young man steps out of the crowd," You piece of flaming hot garbage I will fight for my rights and for the people of this camp. I don't care for the consequences as long as you don't get what you want weirdo!" The plain looking young man releases his Pokémon to battle along with everyone else including the Team Mafia grunts. Cheers are heard through the crowd for the young man's bravery or stupidity depending on how you look at it.

Team Mafia responds with a wave of Asmodeus' hand. They rush into the crowd releasing their Pokémon while doing so. The battle began with a flourish of red painting the sky. I release Echo and the rest of the team to help me while keeping Leilani in her pokeball attached to my belt along with my last pokeball for my last teammate for this region.

I was almost killed by a stray fire attack by someone's Pokémon. I bet it was Michio that little brat trying to hurt someone. At some point I found Rain surrounded by Team Mafia. He was using his Vibrava to scare them away and it worked.

When I see shy sarcastic Rain beating up bad guys, I feel my heart feel proud of him but at the same time I wonder where innocent Rain went. Did he die at the battle of Motostoke or before that when he suddenly had a boost in confidence after beating Peony.

Well can't dwell on that with protecting the camp from invaders and everything. I see Henry laughing while his Inteleon used Snipe Shot on the fires caused by Michio's Blazekin Burst. Michio is running around with Burst setting Team Mafia grunts and their Pokémon on fire laughing maniacally while doing so. Henry is following after him with Inteleon using water moves to put out any fires that went toward allies or tents.

Charles has his Nidoking and Nidoqueen double team against a random grunt that was grabbing a child from her mother. The mother is given her child back after Charles defeats the grunt. Then I see him dive in the middle of the fight going after Asmodeus until Magi grabs him and throws him towards Clover.

Clover is leading a group of younger trainers to grab supplies and evacuating civilians away from the chaos. Then a group of grunts attack taking a few civilians away from the group. Yale steps in shooting the cars tares nearby to stop Team Mafia from escaping. Then Charles also joins in, and the group successfully leave going deeper into the woods.

I fight against a few people who cornered more civilians by the makeshift mess hall. I try my best to keep calm and try not to pay attention to the red blood on the grass. I helped the people to a safe area while the gym leaders stayed behind to battle the rest of Team Mafia. I follow the tracks left behind by the last group that evacuated.

We follow the trail beating back Team Mafia surprise attacks from the trees. Then we get to a large open area, and I see the train station. We hurry and I see my friends bord the train. I rush the group over making sure they get on before looking back to see if there are any more people coming.

That is when I see Asmodeus walking after the gym leaders who are running to bord the train. Thankfully they make along with the raining trainers that stayed at the camp. When the train departs, I see Asmodeus waving his cigar in farewell with a smirk on his face.

I pull out my journal to write down my experience. I feel a rush of relief flow through me. Then terror at where we are going to go now.

Kabu walks into the train car," Everyone I just talked to the conductor and the lines leading out of the wild area are closed due to the tracks being destroyed. That means we are stuck here until help arrives. For now, do stay in the train while I and a few gym trainers explore the surrounding area." The train came to a screeching halt. I see trees outside then hear wild Pokémon out there. Kabu walks into the next train car to give the news to the other survivors.

People whispered to each other in panic over the fact that we are stuck in the Wild Area until further notice. A few complain of the attack on the previous camp and what that means for the future. Others talk of what the Pokémon League will do when they hear of this.

I settle down in my chair letting Mercy cuddle me. The only thing I know is that my friends are safe. My Pokémon are safe and that not many people died during this surprise attack. Now it is time to train my hardest to survive in a world of Pokémon.

Chapter Text

It has been a week since Team Mafia attacked camp. Kabu and the other two gym leaders decided that the train would be use as a camp instead of trying to camp in the forest again. There have been a few wild Pokémon attacks that have been delt with swiftly.

The gym leaders have decided to hold a competition to help the trainers train for when the gym season starts again in April. That is two months from now and there will be no gym challenge except for the combined gym challenge the seventh and eight gym leaders are doing together. Kabu told everyone that the gym season will now end in November and December is when the championship will be held. The championship will be a month-long celebration to help boost people's moral.

The gym challenge itself has been extended to compensate for the fact that most transportation will still be out of order due to destruction. For example, Magi told everyone that the train tracks will take two months or more to be restored to working order. Also, that the competition will be a training session. Trainers will draw lots and go against each other in places that have secured by Peony for training purposes.

Each trainer will use their full team in a double battle against another trainer. It will six Pokémon versus six Pokémon. Peony has secured several different locations for the training session. We were all told that some battles will be held on land on in the water. Also, that the three finalists will be given three choices of Alolan starter Pokémon eggs that will be given after the championship final match.

The winners will be given these eggs in Alola when Magi takes them there. The reason that the winners are not getting the eggs until after the gym season is because it will give the Alolan professor enough time to pick out eggs that can be given with special egg moves.

Magi stand on a box megaphone in hand," Now the rules of the training tournament are as followed. One no killing people because why would you do that. Two no cheating I will be watching and that will get you disqualified. Three have fun I guess while trying your best. Now go to the box over there to write your name on a card and drop it in." The whole time Magi looked bored until he said the word fun. He looked like he wanted to gag when saying the word fun.

Trainers rushed up fighting for the pen to fill out the trainer card to join on the tournament. I spot Henry and Michio beating back a few people to put their cards in the box. I wait until the crowd dies down to fill out a card to join the tournament.

If I stay in for even two rounds, I will be more prepared for the gym challenge. Now before that I need to find a sixth Pokémon to join my team before the tournament.

Kabu steps up on the box after everything calms down," The tournament will start in seven days to give trainers enough time to prepare and to have a full team of six. For if you don't have a full team, you will be instantly disqualified. Now go and make sure you travel in groups if you are searching for new Pokémon to be on the safe side."

I go over to Rain," Hey, would you go with me to the raid dens to find a Pokémon for my team? Also, some new Pokémon for you to." I give my best hopeful smile trying my best to be positive.

I walk in the woods with Mercy flying ahead to scout. Balwin stays by my side to beat up any wild Pokémon that comes near us. Leilani is asleep in her pokeball along with Minuet who complained about the long walk in the heat. Understandable since she is an ice type Pokémon the glaring heat would cause her to be sluggish and weaker.

Echo let's not even talk about that rabbit. She ran off as soon as I released her out of her pokeball. I am ticked off at her for doing that and only giving me a see you at the raid den. I sometimes hate that rabbit. She hates me one minute then likes me the next. It feels like Echo cannot decide what she feels for me but at least I have Mercy with me.

Balwin stops me," Right up ahead is a really strong Pokémon. I want to beat it up, but I have to guard you." He whines pitifully tears stream down his face. He is such an adorable little battle hungry warrior. He looks at me his eyes lighting up with hope to go beat up something.

I sigh letting Minuet out of her pokeball," Balwin go have your battle. Minuet guard me while Balwin goes to beat up that Pokémon." Balwin cheers in happiness rushing off ahead.

Minuet twirls sluggishly," This is not good dancing conditions for me Honey. You know I hate the heat with a passion." She does a few more moves before falling over from overheating.

When I reach down to pick her up something slams into me. Knocking me over on top of Minuet. I groan rolling onto my back holding onto Minuet.

"Hey, are you okay?" I whisper carefully sitting up trying my best to not make any loud noises. Then I hear a loud crunch from my right side. My head snaped to the side and I see Balwin smiling happily while dragging Echo.

"Look who I caught sneaking around us," Balwin looks so proud of himself for knocking out Echo. He is holding her by the feet. I notice that Echo has bumps on her head eyes dazed.

"Was she the powerful Pokémon that you sensed?" I return Minuet to her pokeball. Standing up I dust myself off.

With our hesitation Balwin says," No she is not but I did find her aggravating the powerful Pokémon. Then I knocked her and the other Pokémon out. Then I dragged her back here." He looks at me with a praise me for what I have done face.

My eyebrow twitches," Good job Balwin you have done a great job of returning Echo to the group and beating up that powerful Pokémon. Now Let's go to the raid den before it is noon to train and catch a new Pokémon to join the team." I pat Balwin on the head and return Echo to her pokeball.

We continued walking for a bit until Mercy lands in front of me." Ah Ms. Honey ahead is the entrance to the raid den. Do be warned that it is a long way down to reach to Pokémon hidden down there. There might also be other trainers down there already."

I groan," I wish Rain agreed to go with me, but then again, he did promise to go with Henry somewhere. Now I will have a chance to be in the tournament if I catch a new Pokémon soon."

Mercy hops over," Now Ms. Honey do not despair the trainers might already have a full team. Now let's go down there and hope for the best."

Balwin drags me over to the entrance before I can reply," Come on let's go down and battle. I need to beat up another Pokémon soon or I will go into the woods to find one." Then he looks up at Mercy," Or I might become desperate enough to battle Mr. Stiff over there."

Mercy huffs," As if you can win against me Balwin. As I recall I beat you in our last training battle."

Before Balwin can attack Mercy, I return both Pokémon to their Pokéballs. I go to the entrance and notice a rope tied to a tree that hovers over the hole. I grab the rope and climb down to face a new challenge.

My feet land on hard rock. I can see torches that line the walls a short hallway that leads to the den. I grab Echo's pokeball releasing her.

I look at her," Okay we are going in there to fight a Gigantamax Pokémon since the den was emitting a large swirling pink light. Please help me defeat the Pokémon in there. If you, do I will do whatever you want in reason."

Echo's ear flicks up in the air," Anything you say anything at all? So, if I ask you to destroy my pokeball will you do it. Do have the guts to do it."

I deadpan," Echo you know I will not do that. Is there anything else besides that?" I will not release her since I know my best bet to live is Echo since from what little I remember every Pokémon I catch will help me.

Also, the warning from Arceus that my Pokémon will help me in my time of need. That friendships take time and that will be true for my starter. I know now I need to be patient but sometimes I feel like Echo, and I will never get along.

Echo hops over to me," What about I call in that favor at a later time." This seems like a bad idea, but I grit my teeth in frustration.

I give in, "Fine you can call in your favor any time. Now let's go and capture a Pokémon." We walk down the corridor and reach the exit.

Before going in I cautiously look out and see three people running towards me.

"Watch out!" Screams a tanned boy with icy blue eyes and white hair. I catch the boy when he stumbles fainting in my arms then quickly back away when I see two more people coming at me. A married couple stop right next to me falling on to the ground laughing out of breath.

"Noelani, I can't believe you threw a can at a giga Pokémon. Man, then when it chased us, you started taunting it. I thought we were going to die then you somehow at the last minute saved us." A white-haired woman touches the tanned cheek of another woman with her olive toned hand. The woman's blood red eyes twinkle in exhaustion.

"You know Kaipo if it was not for me, you would not be having fun." A black-haired woman with icy blue eyes smiles." Also, I grabbed the DNA sample you needed. Now are you ready for another adventure with our son. Wait where is Kanoa?! Baby where are you?! Mama is coming to rescue you!"

Noelani shoots up and runs for the exit looking for who I presume is her son. It must be the boy in my arms. I cough making my presence known," Um I believe this might be your son ma'am?" The woman turns around narrowing her eyes until she saw the boy.

Noelani rushes back to me grabbing her son fussing," Oh Kanoa you poor thing I knew I should have made you stay at camp. Then you insisted that you are twelve and can handle it. I should have never listened to your mama when she told me you were ready."

Kaipo lifts herself off the ground stumbling towards me." Thank you for catching my son Kanoa as he fainted. My name is Professor Kaipo Koa. I am the Alola Professor, and I research Pokémon DNA. I came here to collect DNA samples from Pokémon before, and after they Dianmax to study the changes in their DNA structure. I was requested to do so by Chairmen Rose and the local Galaraian Professor Magnolia."

Then it hits me this is the Professor that made a way to make it possible for same sex couples to have children that are biologically both theirs possible. She did this by studying Pokémon DNA. The first successful birth is her son Kanoa that is biologically hers and her partner Doctor Noelani Koa.

Noalani Hala is a famous explorer and has personally discovered many new things. Noelani is a doctor in the field of Archology. She has also helped in the research of legendary and mythical Pokémon by going in unexplored territories. Noelani has helped the Pokémon League with connecting with the locals of regions they have newly occupied.

I shift my eyes over to Echo," My name is Honey Ketchum, and I am here to capture a Pokémon to complete my team." Echo is right next to me huffing in annoyance.

"That is perfect I need to go back there to grab a few things that I dropped. My family will come help you in this endeavor. The only thing I ask is to take a blood sample from your Pokémon before, during, and after they Dynamax if that is alright with you and your Pokémon?"

I smile," Yes that is fine with me. It should also be fine with Echo." Echo looks at me with a look that says I owe her for this.

Kaipo takes out her kit," Noelani will wake up Kanoa and then we will be on our way." She takes out a needle and sticks it in a vein. After the blood samples and Kanoa woke up we went into the den.

There I see is a Gigantamax Inpidimp screaming and stomping around the den. I look at Echo nodding, and I Dynamax her and the battle begins.

Chapter Text

Noelani kisses a cherish ball releasing a Ursaring. Kaipo winds back her arm releasing a Snorlax. Kanoa sighs and releases a Pichu with a spiky ear.

The Impidimp looks at the group screeching. The Dynamax cloud surges causing my hair to flip in my face. The pink lightning illuminates the cave causing the pink stone to glow pink with a hint of purple.

"Is it not the most breath-taking thing you have seen." Noelani says excitedly," I checked a sample of the rocks, and it is made out of stardust. Every Dynamax den is made out of stardust that helps amplify the Dynamax energy. Well, that is a theory of course we do not actually know what is causing the Dynamax to happen."

Kaipo touches Noelani's shoulder scolding her softly," We are battling right now Noelani we can talk about the cave later. Now Snorlax use Zen Headbutt on Impidimp!"

The half-asleep Snorlax perks up as a purple energy surrounds the Pokémon's head. Snorlax then rushes forward, and head butts the Impidimp's foot. Then bounces back when the Impidimp tries to step on Snorlax. Impidimp screeches and a white shield appears around it.

Kanoa, who has been silent until now, points at the shield surrounding the Impidimp," Wow is that Protect or something like it? Pichu use Thunder Shock on Impidimp and try your best to not hit me again."

Pichu looks apologetically at Kanoa then charges itself with lightning. Then pink lightning hits Pichu giving it a boost to its electric attack. It also hits Kanoa who has smoke coming off him. Pichu directs the attack at Impidimp electrifying it. Impidimp stumbles back causing the ground to quake. The group dodges a few stones that fell from the roof.

Kanoa coughs," Pichu that really hurt. Guess I need a shower when we get to camp." Parts of Kanoa's clothes are on fire. Kaipo and Noelani help him put out the fire. Pichu climbs up on Kanoa's shoulder nuzzling him in apology.

I finally decide to talk," Well yes, Impidimp is using Protect because its hurt. Attacking it should weaken the shield then eventually break it. Now Echo use Max Flare." I am thankful I was not hit by the lightning.

Kanoa looks at me," Cool thanks for telling me that. I would have never known that it was using protect." he says happily while he pulls out another pokeball.

Echo shots a spiral of orange yellow flames at Impidimp. The storm goes away leaving the cave to shine brightly. Heat sets in. The Impidimp once again cries out in pain then uses Max Darkness on the group. Long whips made out of dark energy land onto of Echo who shields the group. Echo weakens huffing in pain still protecting the group.

Kaipo looks at Echo," Thank you for protecting us, Raboot, I wish I had brought my Dynamax band, but Noelani told me to leave it at camp." Echo nods to Kaipo before going back to being a shield against the falling rocks and whips of darkness.

Noelani laughs nervously as the cave grows darker,"Ursaring use Fury Swipes on Impidimp. Try your best to not hit the Raboot."

Ursaring's claws glow and it rushes forward towards Impidimp. Nimbly dodging stray whips made of Max Darkness. It jumps over a boulder and onto Impidimp's stomach clawing it three times. Impidimp screams flailing its arms. It hits Ursaring causing it to be thrown into the boulder. Impidimp then stomps on the boulder causing Ursaring to faint.

Noelani returns Ursaring then reaches to her belt finding it empty," Well it seems like I left my other pokemon back at camp."

Kaipo rubs her forehead," Noelani it is okay I left the rest of my team at camp to after you told me to. The only one with a full team is Honey. Kanoa should also have his new Pokémon with him, but I doubt it. Now Snorlax use Hyper Beam on Impidimp. "

Kanoa whines," Mama my new Pokémon hates me. He won't listen to anything I say." Kaipo ignores Kanoa causing him to pout.

Snorlax opens its mouth a beam of energy bursts out towards Impidimp. It slams the Pokémon against the cave wall. More rocks fall down on us. Echo who is still covering us winces in pain a few times. The shield surrounding Impidimp shatters into pieces. Max Darkness recedes around us the cave lights up again.

Kanoa then whines to Noelani," Mom how could you forget your team again. " He looks at Noelani expecting an answer from her.

Noelani responds," Oh you know me sweetie always forgetting something. It could be the map to the cave system or even leaving my team at base camp. Hey Kaipo, where is base camp again? I seem to have forgotten again."

Kaipo shushes Noelani," Not right now Noelani we are battling. Here is the map to the cave system." Noelani takes the map from Kaipo

Kanoa rolls his eyes," Pichu use Thunder Shock on Impidimp!"

Pichu puffs out its cheeks and sends out a burst of lighting at Impidimp. Impidimp is shocked by the lightning. Then it stands up and uses Assurance on Pichu. Pichu faints and is returned to its pokeball.

"You did well Pichu. We just need to practice a little more." Kanoa sighs and releases another Pokémon," Go Sandshrew and use Powder Snow on Impidimp!"

An Alolan Sandshrew appeared and glared at Kanoa. Then it turns around touching its pokeball. It goes back into its pokeball. The pokeball bounces back to Kanoa's hands.

Kanoa's shoulders slump," Sandshrew come on why won't you listen to me." Noelani pats his shoulder in reassurance. " It's okay Kanoa Sandshrew needs to get to know you before you battle together. It will take time for a bond to form."

I look at Echo," Can you move?" Echo moves her head to look at me. Pain courses over her face from the strain of protecting us.

Echo puffs out," Yes, I can move but it will be difficult. I am heavily damaged from that dark whip attack."

"Then use Max Knuckle on Impidimp." Echo straights out her body and moves over to Impidimp. Energy surrounds her fist. Echo punches Impidimp causing it to faint.

I take out a pokeball and using my Dynamax Band enlarge the pokeball. With both hands I throw it. It hits Impidimps foot sucking it into the ball. It shakes three times before it stops the pokeball shrinks.

I then return Echo," Good job Echo you need all the rest you can get. Now we have a new team member."

Chapter Text

Kaipo leads the group," Now Kanoa I need you to hold Snorlax's pokeball for me. I need to lead us out of here. The cave should be unstable from the fight so be careful."

Kanoa takes the pokeball," Okay mom I'll keep Snorlax with me. Um Honey, right? Are you going with us to my camp?

I respond," Well if it's alright with Noelani and Kaipo I will go with you."

Noelani walks right next to me," That would be great Honey. You could help Kanoa with bonding with Sandshrew with a battle."

I laugh nervously my eyes look at Echo's pokeball," Well I can try but sometimes bonds take time to form. In some cases, bonds are instant while others can be difficult. Especially when the Pokémon's mood changes constantly."

"Will you really battle me?! I can't believe a real Pokémon trainer will battle me." Kanoa beams in excitement.

Kaipo raises an eyebrow," Kanoa I am sure Honey will battle you when we get to camp. Now the entrance should be around here." We climb a few rocks then we find it.

We reach the tunnel entrance is when I saw them. Asmodeus Lord taking a drag of his cigar and Hazael who is leaning against the wall.

Asmodeus slowly smirks puffing out smoke," Ah just the Professor I wanted to see. Now will you come with me willingly or will my friend over there need to convivence you."

Hazael yawns then strut over to Asmodeus," Please choose to not go with us. I am itching for some action. It has been pretty boring lately."

I walk over to stand in front of the group," No one is going with you Asmodeus. Also, Hazael no one cares if you're bored or not."

Hazael's helmet snaps in my direction," You are dead Honey if I was not on the job. If only I was not given strict instructions to not kill you. You would be dead, but the second in command wants to do it himself. Count yourself lucky."

Asmodeus pats Hazael's shoulder," Calm yourself Hazael we have more important matters to attend to. Now Kaipo gives yourself up or I will be forced to use Hazael."

Kaipo pushes herself in front of me," Honey thank you for trying to help but it's okay. Asmodeus if you promise not to hurt my family and this stranger, I will go with you."

Asmodeus takes another drag," That can be done, but Professor you need to come with me now. Hazael will help your family and Ms. Ketchum out after we leave."

Noelani rushes to Kaipo," Please don't go you know I need you. Kanoa needs you. Alola needs you, Kaipo. Please don't go love."

Kaipo looks at Noelani," I need to do this to protect you, Kaipo, and Alola. They won't stop Kaipo. You know this is not the first time they have come for me. I am tired of fighting this Noelani."

Kanoa cries," Mama please don't go." He buries his head on Kaipo's stomach sobbing.

Kaipo wipes Kanoa's face," Oh Kanoa I wish I could stay but this time I can't. You almost died last time Team Mafia came for me. I promised myself that the next time they came for me I would go with them. I would protect everyone I love."

Noelani grabs Kanoa gritting her teeth," Kaipo go. I hope you won't regret this. You know they won't ever let you go. They will kill you Kaipo and I can't stand the fact that you will let our child know his mama killed herself. Can you live with yourself knowing our son will never see you again?" A single tear goes down Noelani's face.

Kaipo grabs Noelani kissing her check," I love you and Kanoa. Goodbye love I will miss you." Kaipo kisses the top of Kanoa's head.

Then Kaipo walks over to Asmodeus," I hope you are happy with yourself Asmodeus."

Asmodeus chuckles," I am very pleased with myself Professor. For I have broken up another happy family and, in the process, will give my boss the very thing he wants. The Professor that will give Pokémon three types to help revive something very important. Now let's go, Hazael please stay back with the others." Asmodeus and Kaipo disappear into the tunnel to the surface.

Hazael gives Asmodeus a nod then makes his way to me. He whispers in my ear," Honey, my job is done. The second in command won't mind you being hurt when I hand you over to him." I back away in fear bumping into Noelani and Kanoa.

Chapter Text

I look back at the upset mother and son," We need to run now before Hazael kills me and hurts you in the process!" Hazael grabs a large boulder and throws it towards me.

Noelani pulls me out of the way, "We need to get out of here, but that boy is blocking the only exit." The boulder lands a few feet away. Hazel picks up another to throw huffing in anger.

I look at her," You mean the only exit we know of. There are always two exits in a cave. Never assume that there is only one way to escape." Another boulder is thrown at me I roll out of the way. Kanoa and Noelani duck out of the way.

Hazael screams in a fit of rage," Die already wait not the boss wouldn't like that. I mean stand still and let me hurt you before giving you to the second in command my boss." The cave shakes and more boulders fall from the roof.

"Oh no the cave is about to collapse. It must be unstable after the battle against Impidimp earlier." Noelani pulls me closer towards her and Kanoa. Just in time when a boulder fell right where I was. It must have been either thrown by Hazel or from the roof that is callousing,

Is this woman magic or something at those point she has pulled out of the way from death a few times? Then again this is the Pokémon world, and anything is possible if she is Psychic. I am pulled out of thoughts when I run into a wall. Kanoa skids to a stop beside me.

Kanoa chuckles nervously looking behind him to see Hazel rapidly advancing towards him," Hey mom I think we're screwed. I don't see a way out." We dodge a few stray boulders from Hazael and from the roof of the cave. We lose track of Hazel after a few seconds.

Noelani leads us away and ducks behind a boulder. I glance out from behind the boulder to see Hazel mumbling to himself. He walks around trying to find us.

Hazel screams," Come on out I won't hurt you that badly. It will only hurt for a little bit don't be a scaredy Torracat." His neck bulges along with his arms. Oh no he must be truly angry at me right now. He is walking closer to where I am hiding. Hazel kicks a boulder destroying it in one swift kick.

Then Noelani points to an area just out of sight," Kanoa there is another exit right there, but I think there is someone guarding it. We would need to sneak past them but how? We the cave is collapsing, and that young man is trying to kill Honey. Speaking of that young man, Hazel is it, he is approaching closer to our hiding place."

I hesitantly grab a pokeball going over my options," We need a diversion to get out of here. I can distract Hazel so that you can leave. It is my fault that he stayed behind."

Noelani sighs putting a hand on my shoulder," Honey I know I just met you, but you are a child. Also, you shouldn't have interrupted me again. Now as I was saying there is a man guarding the exit, he has a Pokémon with him. The man is using the Pokémon to hit the wall causing the cave to collapse. We need a diversion for Hazel and the man."

I look at Noelani," Wait what do you there's another guy here?"

Noelani sighs rubbing her eyes," I can barely make out another by the exit. He must have come around the same time as Asmodeus and Hazel. He is most likely guarding the other exit to make sure we wouldn't escape earlier with Kaipo."

Kanoa looks at Noelani," Mom why don't we throw a rock over there to distract Hazel. Then we can stealth our way over to where cave guard guy has then escaped."

Noelani hesitates for a minute," That sounds fine to me. Honey you'll throw the rock after I give you the signal. Then run over to the next boulder until we're close to the exit. From there we'll make another plan to escape."

I pick up a rock then look at Noelani waiting for her signal. She nods to me, and I throw the rock to the opposite side of the room.

Hazel laughs," Oh someone is so dead when I get over there. Wait I mean seriously hurt since the boss would kill me." Then he walks over picking up a few boulders on the way.

While he is distracted, I make my way closer to the exit where I see familiar long spiky white hair. It had to be Aper the second in command and great he's using his Ditto to slam against the wall. He's wearing it on his arm whacking it against the wall.

I grab my bookbag and give it to Kanoa," Kid hold my stuff for me. I am going to jump that freak while you and your mom escape, okay?"

Chapter Text

Mercy and Baldwin sneak over to where Hazel is and unleash their attacks. Blood gushes out of my mouth. I look down to see something sticking out of my chest. I touch it with my blood covered hands in shock.

"Ha finally got you little brat. How does it feel? Honey the one destined to destroy Team Mafia. Dying before you could get the chance to do so." A voice whispers in my ear.

I turn my head back to see the peppermint man. With blood splattered on his suit and mask. "Oh sweet little child. JUST DIE ALREADY!" He pushes his cane or something like one further into me.

Then I feel the ground crumble from underneath me. I feel the sensation of falling. The cane pops out of me. Blood splatters around me. The world shatters into glass pieces.

Balwin tries to reach me before he crumbles into dust. Mercy goes the same way along with the two people I was trying to protect. Hazael screams in agony shattering into a million pieces. Aper just laughs at me. All the while the peppermint man just relaxes. I don't know why but he just waves at me. Like he is telling me goodbye. But why would he do that. The world is folding into itself. Then poofs into white dust.

The void turns white from the dust of the dead. I look down at my belt. My Pokéballs are gone. Dusted right in front of me. Everything I knew after I died and was stuck in this horrid fanfiction was gone. Just like that I'm all alone again. With no way out of this nothingness.

I don't know why but at that moment of the world being torn apart. With no one in sight in my tear flooded vision. I thought that I would finally be at rest. I could see my friends and family again from my first life. But what about the task Arceus gave me? To save the world thirteen year me and a friend created on a whim. A world where I was inserted as the protagonist. With no choice but to be a pawn to a higher power.

What would happen now. Will I stay dead or be sent back to the beginning to relive it all over again. Could I choose a new team? After everything I went through with my first one. A new starter Pokémon to help me when I'm in need. Unlike Echo my first Pokémon that hated me.

Then I remember my Pokémon.

Leilani the newly hatched Togapi.

Mercy the brave knight.

Balwin the adrenalin junkie.

Minuite the dancer.

Echo the bipolar bunny.

Then my somewhat friends.

Henry the best friend I ever had besides- no don't think of them.

Michio the little hellion.

Clover the annoyance but later tentative friend.

Rain the other best friend who tried their best.

Finally, the guy with Yam Yam. I don't know his name.

No, I couldn't do that. I'm the one who created this mess and loved every moment of it. To the start to the end. But then it became reality. A scary new world. Where anything could and would go wrong.

I look again and blink away my tears. My hands don't look right. They look like my older hands from before I died. The same scars I got from cutting myself with an apple knife. The can opener scares from first grade. The short nubby fingernails I chewed off when nervous.

I lift my hand up trembling in fear. I feel my dry face, my hooked nose and my thin lips. I can't believe it I'm me again. Not a sixteen-year-old with "perfect" features. I can't help but cry when I lift a strand of my dull brown hair to my face. I'm finally me again when floating in this white void.

Why. Why is this happening to me. I'm finally not a protagonist but little old me. A person down on their luck. Who died for the second time. The first by-

What was it again? A truck, home invasion, sleep or a knife. Why can't I remember what killed me that first time. A blurred image of something pops in front of me. A hand reaching out for me.

Then I felt something touch the back of my head. Just a little poke that came out of now were. I whip my head around tears blurring my vision.

To see the cause of this whole mess. Arceus in all his flipping holier than thou appearance. I'm really starting to hate the god of Pokémon.
