Flirting (Badly) With A Deer Demon

Summary:

Everyone knew that in the entire time the deer had been in hell, he had never once entered a relationship beyond platonic and often even outright avoided situations that would involve people possibly flirting with him. It had been a small tidbit of information Vox had found out about him relatively early on in their rivalry, and while he had found it moderately amusing at the time he hadn't really cared all that much.

Now, though, it could be something he could use against him, even if it just made him uncomfortable and shut him up finally.

Or, alternatively, three times Vox purposefully (badly) flirts with Alastor just to make him ✨uncomfy✨ and one time Alastor returns the sentiment.

Chapter 1: The Birth Of A Plan

Chapter Text

The sound of car horns and people yelling surrounded Vox as he made his way down the sidewalk, sinners giving him a wide birth when they realized who was walking their way. It was midday, and he was heading back toward the tower, sandwich bag in hand from the street corner sandwich shop he preferred to grab his lunch from whenever he had the chance to actually get it. Soda cup raised to take a sip, he paused when he caught a flash of red up ahead, narrowing his eyes and shouldering his way through the crowd ahead. Sure enough, there ahead of him was Alastor, the crowd between them being due to sinners giving him a much wider birth than they gave Vox. It was no secret that the general populace was afraid of upsetting either of them, but more so Alastor than Vox. At least they knew the TV demon wouldn't eat them.

Grinning, he lowered his soda and pushed his way through the rest of the crowd, jogging to catch up with the deer demon and walking shoulder to shoulder with him. The other overlord smiling as usual, but his annoyance at the TV demons presence was obvious based off his tightened eyes when he spared a glance at him. “Alastor! Odd running into you here, in my turf.” Vox smirked, raising an eyebrow at him. “Any reason for that, or did you finally realize you miss lil’ old me?”

Alastor scoffed, smile remaining as always, and kept walking at a unbothered pace. “It’s incredibly hard to miss something that never ceases to leave one alone,” he bit back, his tone light and teasing despite the underlying barbed wire that was meant to cut. Vox dramatically gasped and pressed the hand holding his sandwich to his chest, as if he was holding his hand over his heart in pain.

“And miss a chance at being around my favorite old man?” He smirked at him and raised his soda to take a sip of it again, but not before furthering his insults. “It’s my civic duty to make sure you don’t need help crossing the street.” Alastor’s eye twitched in annoyance, giving the TV overlord a small sense of victory.

“Hmm, and what makes you think I would accept your help, television?” Alastor turned to face him as he rounded a street corner, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes. He had been looking forward to a simple trip to the tailor (Vaggie claimed he specifically chose a tailor that resided squarely in Vox’s turf just to spite the other overlord, she wasn't exactly wrong but she didn't need to know that) and a leisurely walk back to the hotel on such a nice day out. The temperature for once wasn't absolutely horrendous and there wasn't any rain forecasted for the day. It had truly been a marvelous day- until he showed up.

Vox rounded the corner as well, just a step behind the deer demon, “because I’m just so fun to be around-“ he started to respond sarcastically, only to blink when he nearly ran into Alastor who had stopped and narrowed his eyes at him.

“I believe you may want to get that flat head of yours checked, old pal.” He grinned at him, meeting his eye contact head on thanks to their similar heights. “Did our last skirmish damage it? I know I hit you pretty hard, and everyone knows just how fragile televisions are.” His grin turned nearly sadistic as he raised his cane to tap lightly at the overlord’s face. Vox leaned back, dodging the cane and frowning in annoyance at the attempted contact, when an idea occurred to him that would allow him to get back at Alastor for not just the comment but also the attempted touch.

Smirking back at him, Vox leaned in, forcing back the grimace as he stepped into Alastor’s personal space. “Aw, Allie, are you concerned for me? How adorable,” he internally cheered at the slight confusion and rage in Alastor’s eyes at the sudden change in tone and nickname.

“Pssh, hardly.” Alastor rolled his eyes, one of his ears twitching as if it wanted to lay flat but the demon wouldn't allow it. He turned, ready to continue on his walk and hoping to leave Vox behind. “That would require me to care, my good fellow.” He took a single step forward, but was suddenly spun around by Vox grabbing ahold of his wrist and twirling him back to facing him. The TV demon was greeted with the screeching sound of static and radio dial eyes, a snarled smile on his lips now as Alastor wrenched his hand free, his forearm landing against Vox’s chest and pushing him against a nearby alleyway wall. The other overlord simply smirked at him, seemingly unconcerned by the angered Radio Demon, and held his hands up.

“Sorry, I’ve always been told to grab onto power.” He joked, internally wincing at how bad that sounded. It had sounded much better in his head, but hopefully Alastor would still have a uncomfortable reaction to it despite how bad the flirting was. After all, it wasn't like it happened to him often enough for him to recognize bad flirting.

Said demon was frozen in front of him, snarled smile still in place but the radio dials had left his eyes, now a quiet look of surprised discomfort taking their place. Mission accomplished then, it would seem. A slow smirk slid into place on Vox’s screen, the deer seeming to be frozen in headlights, and just to push it further he raised his hand and slid it up the underside of Alastor’s forearm to his elbow, resting his palm there. His touch only lasted for a moment before Alastor ripped himself away from him as if he had been burned, and with a final glare he snapped his fingers before disappearing. His clear discomfort and rage making Vox laugh, shifting the bagged sandwich from the hand he had moved it to before spinning Alastor so he no longer held both his drink and sandwich with one hand.

Oh, this was going to be fun.
