No egg has hatched in Westeros since the Dance of the Dragons, seventy-six years gone, and the Targaryens have guarded that secret as fiercely as they've guarded their crown. The maesters call it fate. Valaena isn't so sure, but the answer will have to wait. Because in searching for it, she stumbles onto something else: a conspiracy old enough to have outlasted a war, working against her family from within. To save what's left of her house, she'll have to reach further back than the Dance itself, into Fire and Blood, and gods older than either.
