Chapter Text

It would be a nice day. The sun wasn’t too bright, The temperature was perfectly balanced, neither too hot nor too cold. Unfortunately Will had multiple problems.

Will was running. He had seen this forest many times, just not this far from the main town. The forest near the town had smaller trees and the forest floor was full of soft grass. Out here the forest was full of stones and sharp sticks that were digging into his bare paws and cutting them. Will was an undersized, blonde wolf with sky-blue eyes, mirroring his human appearance. He dodged and weaved through the dense forest, trying to evade the beta hot on his trail.

It was his fifteenth birthday and he had just presented. His adoptive moms, Lavinia and Oak had assured him that he was more likely to present as an alpha or beta because that’s what his parents were when they were alive. Apollo, Naomi and Lityerses. A trinity, where all three are mates. Naomi and Lityerses were both betas, but his father, Apollo was an alpha. Apparently there had been some hidden omega gene somewhere, hidden by his ancestors.

Which was weird because omegas faced no persecution back then. Maybe it was a long time ago when the oracles that performed the presentation of roles weren’t as skilled as they are now. Maybe it was an omega who ran away and didn’t tell their mate what they were.

Had Will not been an omega, he wouldn't be fleeing from a beta intent on delivering him to the new alpha, Luke, who took over after his father died. Will had heard countless rumors about how wonderful the pack was before Luke expanded his territory and transformed it into a perilous place for omegas and an oppressive regime for all who disobeyed his cruel commands.

The pack under Will's father had been called the Sun Pack, named for the happiness and brightness that radiated from its members. In contrast, Luke's oppressive regime was known as the Crooked Pack, not just because of the large, crooked scar on Luke's eye but because of his twisted and crooked methods of rule.

Will skidded to a stop, and jumped aside, behind some juniper bushes. His breath heaved with effort, his head felt like it was about to implode -because he was new to his wolf form- and he crouched down when he heard footsteps on the forest floor. A low, rude voice calling for him.

“Come out, omega, I can smell you,” Will would not reveal himself to the beta because he would not be used as a slave/housewife/baby machine. “Are you in the trees? No… what about in the bushes?

Please don’t see me…. he pleaded with the Moon Goddess

Will froze and crouched lower to the ground, hoping he wouldn’t be noticed. Unfortunately he was blonde, and that trait carried over from his human form onto his wolf, as most traits do. The breathing of the other wolf was closer now. He was definitely noticed.

“There you are,” the beta hissed and took a step closer, and another, then dove for Will. Will quickly whipped out of the way and over the one-eyed beta’s head and began running again. “Come back here, freak!” The black-furred beta shouted and gave chase after him. Will glanced back and saw how he only had one eye, the other being crossed out by a scar.

His half blindness could be useful.

He weaved through branches that the beta would have to claw through. Maybe my wolf being a little small could be a tiny bit helpful right now. He thought

Will spun a bit to kick a bit of dust and dirt into his pursuer’s good eye. Up ahead was a river, a large one. One that he’d seen on maps from his time in school. It led to one of the many large packs in the area.

Will jumped over the river quite smoothly, but stumbled when his paw caught on a rock only a few feet away from the side of the river. He froze when he heard a large thump behind him and a growl. Will turned around and bared his teeth, ready to defend himself “No omegas can escape punishment by Alpha Luke, so be-“ he was cut off by a hiss from behind.

“I don’t think he will. You’re on the Sky Pack’s territory and trespassing is not treated kindly, especially if you show up threatening others,” a beta with reddish brown fur and golden eyes proclaimed with calm determination. “and I could call for backup anytime. Could you?”

The beta that was chasing Will whimpered and tried to flee with his tail between his legs, but before he jumped over the river the other beta hissed “You better not call for backup,” the beta with one eye nodded before speeding away.

Will flinched when she turned to him “I’m Haz- oh my goddess! You’re so skinny! Are y-“ is all Will heard before he slumped and passed out.

“How is he still alive? How has no one noticed the neglect from his former pack he went through? Why didn’t he run earlier?” A female voice worriedly hovered above him. Will bristled. His pack wasn’t abusive, it was just run wrong.

“Abuse can feel like love. Starving people will eat anything.” A male voice pointed out. Ah. A poet. Wait, where was he? Who were these people?

His eyes fluttered open but quickly shut again due to the brightness of the room. Will heard the female gasp before she began writing something down.

Once his eyes adjusted to the new light, he tried to open them again. He was in a pack healer's den.

No. No. No.

He couldn’t be caught. He didn’t know these people! Who were they? Were they going to hurt him? Experiment on him?

Force him to mate?

“Shhhh don’t panic we aren’t going to hurt you.” The female doctor whispered, she didn’t know what could set him off again.

He kept panicking and wouldn’t let anyone near him.

Will kept panicking, refusing to let anyone near him. Both healers eventually left, and Will burrowed back into his bed, trying to make sense of his situation.

Chapter Text

The next morning, one of the pack healers brought Will breakfast. Pancakes and yogurt were kind of good, if a little bland because they didn’t bring him any fruit. (Monsters, who doesn’t eat their yogurt with fruit?)

They attempted to get him to talk about what happened to him, again, to which Will hissed and growled—despite being in human form—at anyone who approached him. By noon, as indicated by the clock in the pack healer’s den, they ceased their efforts to get him to talk.

One of the doctors sighed and stepped out of the room claiming “I’m going to get them,”

the other doctors nodded.

𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮?

Will didn’t know if he wanted to find out. What if they hurt him?

Will breathed.

𝘐𝘯. 𝘖𝘶𝘵.

𝘐𝘯. 𝘖𝘶𝘵.

While he was waiting, anxiety gnawing at him, he wished they would show him a shower; his bathroom didn’t have one. The bathroom was plain, with white tiles and white towels. There were no mirrors, which made sense—maybe someone had hurt themselves by shattering it. Or perhaps he looked so bad they took it out.

Ten minutes later a knock could be heard. Will raised his gaze from the wall to the door.

A girl with kaleidoscope eyes and chocolate hair that was cut choppy and unevenly entered the room. She motioned behind her and from behind the door slid out a boy with curly black hair, dark brown eyes and a cheeky smile.

Chapter Text

Leo had been relaxing in his, Piper’s and Jason’s house when a messenger ran and informed them Hazel had found and extremely malnourished and injured wolf.

He had apparently been running from his ex-pack when Hazel found him, chased off his pursuer and tried to question him on the border. He promptly passed out from exhaustion.

Thus, they had no information about his rank, pack, age, or even his name. Piper and Leo had attempted to visit him two days in a row, but he had been asleep both times.

On the third day, their presence was requested. He had apparently refused to let anyone near him, and as Lunas, Piper and Leo were experts in calming packmates down. Piper went in first, introduced them both, and announced they were the pack lunas.

The man in hospital bed was maybe seventeen, he had ratty hair. Leo couldn’t tell if it was dirty brown or if he hadn’t showered since he got here. Will was most surprised by his sky blue eyes. They reminded him of Jason’s, but his mate’s eyes were more electric.

“Do you want us to stay near the door?” Piper questioned, and the boy nodded slowly.

“Does he think it’s a trick?” Leo whispered to his best friend, “Not sure, but let’s try and get him comfortable before asking questions,” Piper turned to the boy “How about a bath? Do you want one?” The dirty-blonde haired boy nodded, quickly.

Leo moved closer and extended his hand. When the boy took it, Leo helped him out of bed. He was dressed in a classic blue hospital gown. Piper and Leo led him down the hall to a bathroom with a bathtub and helped him into the tub.

———

Leo was tasked with helping the boy bathe. It turned out his hair was indeed dirty enough to appear brown. He and Piper fed him dinner and offered him some more pillows, just in case he got cold. Then they brought out the information sheet.

“Uh here. You can show your age with your hands. How old are you?” Leo asked, the blonde held up all ten, then switched to a seven. “Seventeen?” He nodded, and Piper wrote down his age on the sheet.

Notes:

I was not going to add a bathroom scene in detail, because I’m not comfortable with that.

Chapter 5: Another day, Another Move

Summary:

Getting out of the hospital

Chapter Text

Will was now 99% sure he could trust the pack lunas. They had been taking care of him for the past day, and he might even be ready to tell them his name!

Helped him bathe? Check.
Helped feed him? Check.
Communicated in a way that made him comfortable without forcing him to talk? Check.

Leo might be a male omega, but the Luna scent masked any hints of his rank. He ensured the food was good and the bed was comfortable. Piper, clearly a beta, was open and attentive, taking care of Will’s hair, face, and body. She made sure he was clean and comfortable.

….

That morning, he managed a stuttering “Thank you” when given breakfast. Piper and Leo gasped in surprise but in a good way.

Piper had asked if he was okay with continuing the information sheet. Will said yes and she told Leo to go retrieve it.

He answered the questions as best as he could. One thing Will noticed was that they didn’t ask about his rank. He wondered if they already knew or if the healers had never put it on the form. It could be just for the older packmates, who needed medication based on their rank.

Either way he was glad they didn’t. Will didn’t know what this pack was like to omegas- Especially male omegas- and he didn’t really want to find out.

Piper and Leo helped check him out of the pack healer’s den. It was surprisingly easy, perhaps because they were the pack lunas. They guided him through the city to an apartment complex, led him up the stairs, and handed him the keys to the apartment.

Leo pulled out a phone which already had both of their contacts. Piper had already decided that tomorrow morning they would give him a tour of the pack and then take him shopping.

He entered the apartment, which had been lightly decorated. He found the bedroom and entered, getting ready for bed. He snuggled into it, but couldn’t help the feeling that something was missing.

Notes:

I’m sorry I made you all wait, it’s been a very stressful couple of weeks!

Chapter 6: This is Home

Summary:

Tour time! (And shopping!)

Notes:

I’m really sorry I haven’t updated, but I’ve been busy with summer camps and visiting family. I also had a bad bout of writer’s block. I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter Text

Will had the dream again, with even clearer details. As he got up, he shook his head and rubbed his eyes. He threw on some plain clothes and got himself a muffin. (which one of the pack members had left him before he moved in)

Once he finished Will waited for them to come. Finally, he heard knocking and opened the door.

“Ready for your tour?” Piper asked, her kaleidoscope eyes twinkling. “And shopping!” Leo added. Will nodded and followed them down the stairs and out into the bustling pack grounds.

The first stop was the pack’s school. It was a large, well-maintained building bustling with activity. Children of all ages, some in human form and others in their wolf forms, ran around playing and laughing. The sight filled Will with a sense of nostalgia and longing. He had never been part of such a close-knit community. His pack was all about separation by rank.

“This is our school,” Leo explained. “It’s where all the young pack members learn and grow together. We believe education is important, not just academically but also in understanding pack dynamics and responsibilities.”

Will could see the pride in Leo’s eyes as he spoke, and it made him hopeful about his own future here. They moved on to the food court, a lively area filled with the enticing aromas of various foods. Will’s stomach rumbled, reminding him that he hadn’t eaten since breakfast.
“Hungry?” Piper asked with a grin. “Let’s grab a bite before we continue.”

They chose a nice spot with a pretty view, and Leo ordered a variety of dishes for Will to try. The food was delicious, bursting with flavors he hadn’t experienced since he was a child.

After their meal, they headed to the shopping center. It was a large, open space filled with shops of all kinds.

“We need to get you some clothes and stuff for your apartment,” Piper said, leading the way into a clothing store. “Pick whatever you like.”

Will felt a bit overwhelmed but also excited. He picked out a few pairs of jeans, some shirts, and a warm jacket. Piper and Leo helped him choose, offering suggestions and encouraging him to express his own style. For the first time in a long while, Will felt like he had the freedom to be himself.

Next, they went to a home decor store. Piper and Leo helped him choose some items to make his apartment feel more like home. They picked out soft blankets, colorful cushions, and a few pieces of artwork to hang on the walls.

“How about this?” Piper held up a framed picture of a serene forest scene. Will nodded, feeling a connection to the peaceful image. They continued shopping, filling the cart with items that would make his space warm and inviting.

As they left the shopping center, Will felt a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. He had new clothes, new decor, and most importantly, new friends who genuinely cared about him.

He went home, putting all the bags on a counter and decided to deal with it tomorrow and flopped on his bed.
