Chapter Text
"Peter Parker?" The boy in question looked up from his phone with a small smile and a fidgety nervous look about him.
"Yes, that's me!" It was unclear whether Peter was exited, nervous, just fidgety, or a combination of all of them. The nurse showed him through the door to one of the exam rooms. May followed a couple steps behind, not close enough to be overwhelming, but not too far away. Peter knew where she stood on this, she was overjoyed that Peter was able to finally do this with the "Grant money" (Cash, Tony had given Peter over time) from Mister Stark and some money they had been saving up for a year or two when they could.
Out of the corner of his eye, Peter saw May pausing at the door. She sent him a questioning look that said quite plainly, "I don't have to come in if you don't want me to."
"Hey, May will you sit with me please?" He asked hopefully, then he continued, knowing full well she would, "I'm kinda nersited (nervous/exited) and I don't really like needles. But y-you don't have to if you don't wanna." He smiled at her, they both knew what the answer would be, they had known from the moment that she and Ben had adopted him what the answer to questions like this would be.
May smiled, "Of course, Petey, I will always be there for you." They had known this forever too, but it was not always spoken out loud and Peter's intrusive thoughts commented about that a lot.
Peter was relatively calm throughout the first part of the appointment, answering all of the doctor's questions calmly and politely. After about forty-five minutes of questions and discussions about how to properly use the hormones, his doctor, who had earlier introduced herself as Dr. Emily Boschers, asked the question Peter had been waiting for.
"So, Peter, now that you know how to properly administer Testosterone, and I have apparently answered all of your questions," May smiled down at her nephew as she saw the anticipation written all over his face. He knew what Dr. Boschers was about to ask, and he gave May an exited smile as his doctor continued. "The last thing we need to figure out, is if you want to start T this week or if you want to start sometime in the next month."
"THIS WEEK!" Peter screamed, his delighted smile present at last. His hands flapping and shaking in his excitement. (I know that not everyone stims like that, but I do so I am going to big time project onto Peter)
"What he is trying to say," May started, but before she could finish, Dr. Boschers cut in.
"I think I understand, I deal with patients with similar reactions all the time." She turned to Peter and smiled warmly at him, "Okay, we are going to send your prescription to your pharmacy, it should arrive in the next couple of days!" Looking over at May she added, "There will be a text that goes through when his prescription is ready for pick-up."
Through his happiness, Peter somehow remembered to thank her many times as they headed back to the main desk to schedule his follow-up. As he and May walked back to the car, he remembered about his text from Mister Stark. High on his dopamine rush, Peter was confident enough to open the text. When he had first opened his phone this morning, he had done a double take and freaked out when he saw Mister Stark's contact pop up. Now he felt a little foolish for freaking out so much because when he looked at the text and it was a normal text he sighed in relief.
MisterStarkIronManSir: Hey kiddo, just letting you know that happy will be picking you up at noon instead of 10
Peter: Okie-Dokie, Mister Stark
MisterStarkIronManSir: Kid, I told you not to call me Mister Stark, it makes me feel old
Peter: Of course Mister Stark, sir
Smirking, Peter closed his phone. He put on his "Fe-Man" playlist and fell asleep listening to AC/DC.
"Petey, wake up" Peter was woken by his aunt softly calling his name. He looked around and not recognizing the area that May was parking he asked "Where are we May?"
"Well," she started, "Mister Stark texted me and told me about your updated pick-up time, so I decided that we could stop for a coffee before you leave me for the week." May said with a teasing glint in her eye that Peter evidently missed.
Peter gasped as he remembered that May would be by herself all break, "Oh uh May, you know you can come visit the tower, and uh um I can come visit you too. You know, in case you get lonely." He finished with his head tilted slightly to the left.
May turned around to look at Peter dead in the eye, "Peter Benjamin Parker"
Peter looked slightly nervous at the use of his full name, "Uh, yes, that's me?" he stated confusedly.
"PETER"
"Sorry, you just never use my full name?"
"I know-"
"Yeah, but when I mean never I mean never" Peter interrupted, "You are also probably going to be fine while i'm at the tower. And what kind of coffee should I get?"
May looked at him the way he figured parents looked lovingly at their kids, and they went to get their coffees. Peter ended up ordering what he always did, a high caffeine coffee with an ungodly amount of sugar. And a Snapple, and one, or two, or three, croissants. As he consumed his sugar on the way back to their house, he was deep in thought. May asked him if he was alright a couple of times, but he did not hear her. His head was stuck on worrying about accidentally outing himself to the avengers, how much his ribs and chest hurt, his most resent lab project, and blowing it all with the Avengers and them deciding that they did not actually like him that much.
