Chapter Text
“So… Mr. Ranpo.“ Professor Dumbledore would start, “May I ask how you had aced your test perfectly and had gotten extra credit?”
I’d chuckle, “Well, Professor, you may or may not know this, but I’m the smartest man alive!” This made the older man chuckle and nod. “Greatest detective, smartest man, coolest kid: Ranpo Edogawa!”
“So, because you are the smartest man alive, you were able to place highest on your first test on your first day on your first time ever studying magic?” He’d ask me.
“Of course! Are you doubting me, professor?”
“No, no, I was just wondering. You are free to return to class now, Mr. Ranpo.” I’d giggle and run off. Of course, as soon as I ran off, I ran off in an odd direction and became lost. Snape will probably kill me for getting lost, but whatever! Maybe it’s a sign to wander around the school grounds.

“Wander, wander, wander, wander~” I’d sing as I skipped around the halls. I’d stop in my tracks as I saw a man. “Hmmmm….” I’d realize it was Quirrel. He was whispering to something not there. Or it was there. I knew he was sketchy. There’s totally a living being under that wrap.
“Yes, my lord. I have found the location of the stone. Now, I just need to get to it.” My lord? Hm. Such as a… dark lord? Interesting. I mean, to my knowledge, the dark lord died after killing the Potters. Its said, the killing curse hit and bounced off of the youngest Harry Potter and hit Voldemort. Four people died that night, three a tragedy, and one a miracle. He must be trying to bring back Voldemort with whatever the stone is. I’ve ready as many books as I could about the ‘Dark Lord’ or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, but no one talks about him! It’s strange I must say.
A voice emerged, “Someone… is watching…” it was old and frail and muffled. I’d jump and run away. Whatever that was… probably the Dark Lord, knew I was there… how strange. I’ll just need to look into it more, yes?
I’d run into a man, Snape. “Mr. Ranpo.” He rolled his R’s and popped his P’s. “Why were you not in class today? The excuse must be a good one.”
“Well,“ I’d start, “First, Professor Dumbledore wanted to talk to me, then I got lost, then I saw Quirrell talking to something in the back of his head, then I ran into you!” I’d say rather quickly.
“What did you say…?” He’d ask slowly.
“Professor Dumbledore wanted to talk to me, then—“
He’d stop me, “About Quirrell.”
“Ohh! He was talking to something in the back of his head, y’know, under the big wrap thingamagig. I think it was the Dark Lord, Voldemort, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.”
Snape was quiet for a minute. “I see. Thank you for reporting this Mr. Ranpo. 5 points to Ravenclaw.”
“Oh! Yay!” I cheered.
“I would give you ten, but you missed class.” He said harshly. “Irresponsible.”
“Understood.”
“Now be off.”
“Yes, sir!” I’d run off.

Lost again… damn…
Suddenly, I was picked up and pulled into a hug. “Ranpy!” George called out as he hugged me.
“Hello, Georgie!” I’d pat his head and he continued holding onto me. “You found me at just the right time, I had just gotten lost!”
“I know, you get lost so often! Must be why you didn’t come to potions, ya?” Fred came up from behind his twin and asked me.
“Yep! And that’s how I figured out that Quirrell is a top secret spy with somebody in the back of his head that’s looking for a stone!”
“What?” They asked in unison.
“Oh, never mind. You dumbos could never understand.”
“Then help us not be dumbos! And stop speaking Japanese, we can’t understand you!” George said as he hugged me tighter.
“Oh lord, I’m gonna— guh— die! Squeezing to hard, squeezing to hard! ”
“What?” George asked, tilting his head to turn to Fred and his twin just shrugged back at him.
“ Squeezing— to hard—“ I’d mutter out.
“Oh!” George would release his hug and put me down lightly. I pet him on the head and called him a good boy. George chuckled with a slight blush on his face. Fred smiled at this.
“What class is it now?” I asked the two.
“Classes are over for the day, Ranpy.” George told me. I looked at him blank faced, already??
“You‘ve missed a lot, mate!” Fred said as he patted me on the back.
