Chapter Text

As they crept down into Giovanni’s sublayer, they both felt a sense of dread loom over them, with Stumbler being the one to speak on this feeling.
“What happens if we miss?...” Stumbler said out of paranoia. Cheif Wulf would stop, not having a plan for if things were to not work out in their favor.
“Im sure we’ll respawn… we always do…” he said, trying to satisfy Stumbler’s question. Stumbler continued on, satisfied at the answer Chief Wulf gave him.

They finally got to the door that led to the plaza, but as they tried to get near the door.

SCREEEEEAAAAAK

A starling screeched out from behind them. Without thinking, Wulf turned around and unloaded his ammo from his homemade shotgun onto the starling. And to the surprise of Stumbler and Wulf, the starling collapsed. The starling seemed to be Olive, who now had two ammo bullets unloaded through each one of her eyes. Stumbler was a bit shaky, but also happy that he didn’t die, even if it didn’t truly mean death for them if they did.

In the distance, what sounded like it came from the plaza, was the sound of something shifting… moving... Stumbler was the one to hear this, and nudged Wulf shoulder with his nubby hands, and said quietly so he didn’t attract starlings.
“I heard something large move.” Chief Wulf turned to Stumbler and said back quietly
“I knew killing one of them would do something.” He said rather braggingly, feeling like he’s finally made some new progress into figuring out their whole time loop conundrum.

As Stumbler and Wulf searched through the plaza for the source of the noise, it started to become apparent that all of the starlings that were there before seemed to have completely disappeared. Their paranoia still took the better of them, which made most of search for the origin point of the sound quiet. Eventually, they find a wall that now been replaced by a hallway that has a door at the end of it. Stumbler and Wulf looked at each other, before looking back at the door and opening it.

When they opened the door, they were greeted by what seemed to be a setup for a live action tv show. It seemed to take place in what appeared to be a hospital kiosk desk set, with an elevator and hospital props in the set. There were also lights that only illuminated the set, with the section behind the set having props and other items as well.
“What the-“ Wulf muttered under his breath. He and stumbler would split up, checking around the room for anything.
“Wulf… I found something…” Stumbler said to Wulf. What Wulf saw when he got over was a model of Howlz, standing idle.
“Why would this be kept in here?” Wulf said. He kept trying to think of why this was here, and would’ve landed his eyes on even more props for the hospital set as well.

“You think they were doing this at broadside?” Stumbler said, confused if the show set was something made up or actually real.

“I doubt they did this.” Wulf said back. “Why would broadside take cog-ware’s other game and try to make a quick buck even though they didn’t have any license to it?” Wulf thought.

“This is confusing.” Stumbler said, his ears drooping a bit from stress and confusion.

“Like it hasn’t always been confusing.” Wulf snarked back. He then laid eyes on the set again, looking at the elevator. Stumbler would notice this and catch up to him, looking at the elevator with him. They both knew that they had to go in there, and in the elevator they went. Down and Down, unto the next layer of a new mystery…
