Chapter 1: Science Fair

Notes:

I wrote two different stories about the boys getting their brooches.

Gifts from Draxum and Gifts and new Friends

You don't need to read them but I felt like pointing it out.
You can imagine the boys human designs however you like but I used my own designs for them.
Boys desgings
One thing I changed tho is I draw them all with marks around their eyes (I started doing that for their turtle selves too) I have drawn that here recently.

Chapter Text

Finally.

For the first time, Donnie could attend a real science fair. He could show off his invention to like-minded people and everything! He couldn’t wait.

Getting a cloaking brooch was one of the best gifts he ever received! He set up his table with many of his less lethal inventions. His dad had only allowed him to go if he promised to only bring things that wouldn’t turn into death weapons with the push of a button. Rather rare for the teen, but he managed. He had built a few extra things just for today.

Once he had everything set up he decided to look at other people’s work for a second. They were nowhere near as good as him, but some were decent.

He snarled as he saw the stall of the Purple Dragons. He wanted to turn around and ignore them, it was the safer choice, But then he remembered. They don’t know it's him. They won’t recognize him.

He walked over to their stand and Kendra tried to get him to engage with their far less impressive tech. Ignoring her was getting her mad, good.

Donnie chose to not engage any of them in a conversation but only said one thing before he left.

“You need to redo the coding on your little bot.”, and left.

As if on cue the bot went haywire and blew up. Was that part of its original design? No. Did Donnie make it blow up? Yes. Could they prove it? No. Humans have no way of proving Mystic. It was below the mutant to use his powers here. He wanted a fair competition after all. But the Purple Dragons weren’t fair. He just made sure they wouldn’t ruin the fun for everyone else.

As he walked back to his own stall, he saw a kid, no older than 8 years old. He was getting help from who seemed to be his father to set up the stall. Donnie knew he wouldn’t win, but even he couldn’t help but smile at the child enjoying this. Seeing a parent support their kid the same way his father had supported him when he was younger was good to see. It warmed his heart, even if he wouldn’t admit it.

Donnie himself would have loved to attend a fair when he was that age. But going topside was risky when they were younger and going to a science fair when you’re a mutant was dumb. Very dumb.

Then the main event started.

People came and looked at the many gadgets that the people had to present. Some were showing simple chemical experiments to get people interested, others had complex theories and lastly Donnie’s favorite ones, the tech. Some were using the event to present their new product others just wanted to show off.

Donnie was part of the latter. He loved the attention on himself and his tech. He talked about everything he had in mind.

As Donnie talked about his tech, people kept looking at him oddly. Donnie didn’t notice too focused on his tech and the people willing to listen.

Donnie had the time of his life at the fair, but all good things come to an end. He was packing up his things again when someone approached him.

“Excuse me.”, the lady said.

Donnie turned to her. She had listened to him talk about his tech. She even took notes!

“Yes, do you have more questions?”, he asked.

“I do. Do you have a few more minutes?”

“A few.”, said Donnie as he set down one of his gadgets. He was always eager to answer questions.

“I work for the news and wanted to interview you for the paper. Is that fine with you?”

“You want to interview me? Of course, you would! Ask away!”

“First, your name, your first name is enough.”

“Donatello, most people call me Donnie.”

“Can I call you Donnie?”

“Go ahead. I don’t mind.”

“Okay, so, Donnie. What inspired you to pursue inventing?”

“I don’t really remember. I just did one day.”

“So, you didn’t have a role model in inventing?”

“In inventing no.”

“Support from home?”

“Now, that I have. My siblings and parents may not always understand my genius but they try. Though Mama understands the most.”

“Impressive. You must be close.”

“We are.”

“Next question, how long have been inventing?”

“I always did I guess, but I remember building my first functioning robot when I was 6, so ten years ago.”

“That’s impressive. I figured you started young, but 6 years old is not what I expected. And you’re only 16? You are a true genius,”

“Scoff. Of course, I am!”, did Donnie sound cocky? Yes. Did he care? No, absolutely not. He liked to brag.

The lady laughed a little.

She asked Donnie a few more questions and took notes as she did. He would go home and rub it in Leos's face that he was interviewed for an article. Donnie was about to be famous for his brilliant inventions.

“And lastly, are you related to Lou Jitsu?”

Donnie froze. How? When? No one was supposed to ask him about his dad! He didn’t know how to answer that?!

“W-who?”, Donnie stuttered. She didn’t look convinced. He needed to get out. Like right now. If he tried to talk himself out of it, he’d fail even more!

He quickly grabbed his things and said: “I gotta go.” And off he was.

Out of the things he expected to happen today, this was not it! How did anyone even come to that conclusion! Sure, he looked like his dad, but why would someone assume that?! Lou Jitsu disappeared over 20 years ago!

The lady smirked as she looked after him. She had gotten the story of her lifetime. She knew the kid looked familiar and her hunch seemed to be correct. Now she just had to write her article.

Donnie really didn’t expect the article that would come out the next day. How does one tell his family he may have messed up big time?

THE Lou Jitsu had a genius son?!

While attending the local science fair yesterday I was able to meet a sweet young man.

Donatello, 16 years old, had some of the most impressive inventions at the fair. He has been inventing for the majority of his life, he wasn’t sure when he started. He stated that he built his first robot at age 6. He’s been inventing for well over 10 years.

His stall was filled with nifty gadgets. Some were simpler than others but none of them were any less impressive.

One of the gadgets was a fully functional mini drill. It worked fully on its own and had enough strength to drill through a rock. The rock had been provided by a child that was passing by and checked by the people watching myself included.

After the initial showcase, he agreed to answer a few more questions. As I talked to him the resemblance to the well-renowned actor, Lou Jitsu, became more apparent.

The famous Lou Jitsu disappeared over 20 years ago with the woman he was dating at the time. No one has seen him since. He was known for his many roles in his very own franchise as well as the many dojos around the country and much more.

The teen looked too much like the actor and something about him just screamed Lou Jitsu.

Could Donatello be his son? I believe so. When asked if he was related to Lou Jitsu, he became nervous, avoided the question and stormed out.

To me the is clear. Donatello is Lou Jitsu's son. Lou Jitsu is likely alive and just wanted to have some privacy while he built a family. Not that anyone can blame him, he is one of the most successful actors of our time. I hope we get to see more of his family in the future, maybe even a comeback of the actor himself.

But the most important question now is; who is the mother?

Who is the lucky woman who marries Lou Jitsu and is the mother of his child? Was it the woman Lou Jitsu was dating right before his disappearance or someone entirely new?

Stay tuned and be the first ones to find out.

Donnie wanted to scream as he read the article. The lady had lied. She didn’t work for the news! She wrote for a dumb celebrity drama site. She didn’t interview him for his inventions but for Dad!

Even worse was that the news spread like wildfire. In mere minutes the news was spread over every social media and tabloid alike. There was no turning back now. They, at the very least Donnie, was fully on their radar. He was back to not being able to go out!

Who would have thought that Donnie would one day be safer to go out as a mutant turtle than in a human disguise? Not the soft shell.

“Purple!”, called his dad.

Of course, he would have found out. He regularly checks anything regarding his old career.

Donnie stumbled into the living room, everyone in his family present. He stood in front of them.

“What happened yesterday at the fair?”, asked Draxum.

“You saw the article?”, Donnie asked.

“We did.”, said April.

“Sigh. I thought the lady really wanted to ask about my tech! Then she dropped the Lou Jitsu bomb and I panicked! I would have made it worse if I stayed!”, Donnie defended himself.

“True, Dee can’t lie to save his life.”, added Leo.

“It’s not that bad, right?”, asked Mikey.

“The theories are going wild again, but other than that.”, said Raph.

“Theories?”, asked CJ.

“Yeah, when Splinter first disappeared there were so many theories about his disappearance. Some think he died.”, explained Cass.

“Purple. It’s fine. We all just need to be more careful from now on. Don’t let anyone interview you or answer any questions about Lou Jitsu.”, said Splinter.

“Well, there are pictures of Donnie online now. I think he can’t go out for a while.”, said Mikey.

“WHAT?!”, yelled Donnie. He hadn’t seen any photos.

Mikey handed his brother his phone.

There were many pictures, apparently, the lady wasn’t the only one that had seen the resemblance. Many people had taken photos at the fair. There were even a few edits comparing Donnie to pictures of Lou Jitsu. Some even pointed out the “weird” make-up that he wore out. Their father had a likening to wear odd make-up a times. The thing was though, that wasn’t make-up. Those were the marks around his eyes. The purple rectangles stayed on his body even with his brooch activated. The same could be said about his brothers. They all kept their markings. They were lucky people assumed it was make-up.

He had seen some people comment how they wanted to recreate his make-up look. Flattering, but weird.

“I don’t know if I like this.”, Donnie said.

“I do! They call your face weird!”, said Leo.

“We have the same face, Nardo!”

“We do not!”

They did. Out of the four of them, the two already looked the most alike, despite being two different species of turtle, but when they activated their brooches? The whole twin thing became even more believable. If it weren’t for their hair, eyes and markings they would look the exact same. The fact that they both needed glasses didn’t make it any better. Leo was the most likely to be recognized after their father.

“Regardless, all of you should try to not draw any unwanted attention.”, said Draxum, “Even you three.” He turned to the three humans.

“What why?!”, asked April.

“You may not be blood-related but you could still end up on their radar if you’re spotted with Donatello.”

“Urgh, fine!”, said Cass as she threw her arms up.

CJ pouted at the statement. He liked going out with his family, be it as turtles or as humans. It was fun to see New York.

Hopefully, they would be able to keep their peace. At least for a little longer. Only time would be able to tell just how much longer they can stay hidden.
