Anathema had expected some adjustments to her lifestyle to accommodate Newt’s … effects on modern technology.

What she got instead was a whole life upgrade. (And not just because it was delicious waking up next to Newt.)

She loved hearing the kettle whistle.

She loved winter evenings snuggled under cozy blankets next to a crackling fire. (The fireplace addition was totally worth it.)

She loved taking turns reading out loud.

She loved having breaks from email.

She loved all their dinners by candlelight.

“Thank you, Newt,” she said one day over breakfast.

He lowered his morning paper. “Whatever for?”

“Being you.”
