In a rare moment of candid conversation amidst their chaotic lives, Dazai Osamu and Chuuya Nakahara found themselves discussing the ramifications of using Corruption on Chuuya, now that Lovecraft had transformed into a monstrous entity. The atmosphere was tense yet tinged with a strange camaraderie, as they debated the ethical implications and strategic advantages of such a drastic measure. Dazai, ever the strategist, argued for the necessity of leveraging Chuuya's Corruption to counter the escalating threat, while Chuuya, wary yet resolute, weighed the potential consequences on his own humanity and the toll it might take on his psyche. Their exchange was a delicate balance of trust and skepticism, reflecting their complex bond forged in the crucible of Yokohama's underworld.
Chuuya Nakahara stirred from unconsciousness, his eyes fluttering open to find himself lying with his head in Arahabaki's lap. The dim light of the room cast shadows around them, lending an eerie atmosphere to their conversation.
"What is that thing?" Chuuya croaked, his voice hoarse as he gazed up at the deity. "It's not an ability and it's not human either... is it a God?"
Arahabaki remained silent for a moment, his expression inscrutable. "It's been a long time," he finally spoke, his voice carrying a weight of ancient knowledge. "I have not seen Cthulhu for a long while."
Chuuya furrowed his brow, confusion evident in his expression. "I thought its name was Lovecraft?"
Arahabaki hummed thoughtfully. "That is likely a name he uses to conceal his true identity. Yes, he is an ancient God like me, existing for millennia. I had expected him to choose a stronger vessel, but it seems my assumptions were mistaken."
Chuuya blinked, his lips parting in realization. "Wait," he began, processing the information slowly. "You mean, we've almost defeated him? Already?"
Arahabaki nodded, a faint chuckle escaping his lips. "Yes, it appears that Dazai Osamu has orchestrated this from the beginning."
Chuuya scoffed incredulously. "That mackerel... always scheming and predicting everything. He's infuriating."
"I haven't seen him in some time," Arahabaki admitted quietly, his gaze distant. "It's comforting to see familiar faces from your past, isn't it? Especially someone like him. I know you two share a strong bond, despite your outward disdain."
Chuuya squawked indignantly. "I didn't miss him!" he protested vehemently. "I would have preferred if he fell off the face of the Earth and disappeared into a river or something! That idiot, always..."
Arahabaki giggled softly, allowing Chuuya to rant and rave about Dazai Osamu's antics and perceived shortcomings. Their conversation drifted into the comfort of familiarity, mingled with the uncertainty of their current predicament.
As Chuuya's emotions simmered down and exhaustion crept in, the world around them faded into darkness once more, leaving the two intertwined in a moment of shared history and unspoken connections.
With steely resolve etched across his features, Chuuya Nakahara stood at the open door of the helicopter, the wind whipping around him as he prepared to leap into the heart of chaos below. His crimson aura flickered and surged around him, the Corruption within him responding to the urgency of the moment. Below, amidst the swirling tempest of battle, Dazai Osamu fought against overwhelming odds, his back against the wall. Chuuya clenched his fists, drawing strength from the familiar surge of power coursing through his veins.
"Dazai," Chuuya muttered under his breath, his voice carrying a solemn determination. "I'm coming for you."
With a decisive nod to his comrades within the helicopter, Chuuya leaped into the abyss, his body descending like a comet amidst the chaos. The ground rushed up to meet him, but in that fleeting moment of descent, Chuuya's mind was clear, focused solely on reaching Dazai's side and turning the tide of battle with the formidable force of his Corruption.
Chuuya groaned softly as he opened his eyes, the dim light of the room casting shadows across Arahabaki's serene face as he crouched beside him. With a weary smile, Chuuya nodded in agreement. "Dazai Osamu truly is an odd human, isn't he? An insufferable idiot, but undeniably odd," he remarked, sitting up and leaning lightly against Arahabaki's sturdy shoulder for support.
"That dragon may be formidable, but it will be dealt with soon," Arahabaki murmured, his voice resonating with ancient wisdom as he leaned back, contemplating the gravity of their situation. "You do realise the risks involved, don't you? There's a chance you may not survive this."
Chuuya nodded, his expression resolute yet tinged with a flicker of uncertainty. "I do," he replied calmly. "But I trust Dazai. Even if his plans seem reckless, I believe in him. He wouldn't have orchestrated this if he didn't have some measure of certainty in its success."
Arahabaki hummed thoughtfully, his eyes scanning Chuuya's face with a mixture of admiration and curiosity. "It's curious," he mused. "Humans often lose faith so easily—in family, friends, or leaders. Yet, despite everything Dazai has put you through—insults, manipulation, abandonment, betrayal—you still trust him. And he trusts you. You two always find your way back to each other, bound by an unspoken bond."
Chuuya's gaze softened, a sad smile playing on his lips as he reflected on their tumultuous history. "We've been through a lot," he murmured. "But there's something about him... something that keeps drawing me back."
Arahabaki's smile was gentle. "You possess a kindness that sets you apart, Chuuya," he said softly, his hand brushing gently against Chuuya's cheek in a fleeting caress.
Moments later, the tranquility shattered as Chuuya erupted into action, springing to his feet and lunging towards Dazai with a flurry of punches. "Wake up, Sleeping Beauty!" he yelled with mock indignation, the tension of their conversation dissipating into the familiarity of their banter.
