Summary
The stark difference between Jeremy threading through the law-related terminology and studying French is more than apparent. When Jeremy studies French – with his colorful pens, acidic page markers, enthusiastic mumbles under his breath – he looks giddy. Happy. There is a blush to his cheeks, a twinkle to his eyes as he looks at Jean, as if they are sharing a secret. He looks almost as ecstatic as he does when he is on the court scoring a goal.

Summary
Jeremy is not a fan of his friends' new hobby, although not for the reasons they assume. While Cat and Cody go out looking for ghosts, he has been haunted by one for years, and being able to see the dead isn't nearly as exciting as his friends seem to think it would be. But when a trip to a haunted house ends with him making an unexpected friend, maybe there's some good to his strange ability after all.

When Neil pulls away, there’s a pea-sized pearl in Andrew’s palm.
“Do you like it?” Neil asks. His eyes are fixed on the sand where he’s drawing little swirls with a finger, a nervous tick Andrew has noticed. “I wrestled it out of a clam.”
The thought of Neil stubbornly prying a shell open with his nose scrunched in concentration causes Andrew’s mouth to twitch upwards. “I suppose it’s alright,” Andrew says and he receives a dramatic eye roll in return for his blatant lie. “Yes, I like it. Thank you, Neil.”

Neil keeps gifting Andrew different things he finds in the sea. Surely, it doesn't mean anything special.

Summary
Andrew eyes the trail of crimson. “You’re still bleeding.”
“I’m not staying here,” the merman snarls, giving Andrew a glare that would kill lesser, unaccustomed men. Andrew ignores it because he gets that look all the time.
But it gives Andrew a glimpse of just how blue the merman’s eyes are—a color so deep and alluring, he has to rack his brain to remember if merfolk’s eyes having hypnotizing qualities.

One gloomy day, Andrew saves an injured merman. Having said merman heal in Andrew's bathtub was not part of the original plan.
