Summary
Two years after they stopped talking, Will and Mike are doing fine. (If you can call desperately missing each other fine.) Then a spell casted in another universe crashes their fantasy counterparts into their lives and Will and Mike end up stuck helping them find a way back home. Which should be amazing, really, it's their childhood dreams coming true except... William the Wise and Michael the Brave are painfully, devotedly in love. And that would be a lot easier to deal with if Will and Mike didn't have years of unresolved feelings, unsaid confessions and pining between them.
Or: Cleradin get transported to Byler world and what follows is a lot of angst, many interactions between all four of them, Byler drowning themselves in regret and yearning, and Mike Wheeler having at least two serious emotional breakdowns before anyone gets their happy ending.

Neil liked to think that in life we followed certain rules.
Birth and death. Without a start there couldn't be an end, and vice versa. Those two couldn't exist without one another? Right?
Then he died, woke up and would likely have to die again. Kept waking up from the same spot, same day.
Only thing changing was the cause of his demise. The when, where and how he died varied fully on Neil and his choices.He was undoubtedly stuck in a freaking time loop of all things and he had no clue how to undo it, how to escape from this hell that was the Baltimore weekend.

Will scowls. “Not funny,” he says for a third time. “Go away.”
Mike drops the stick unceremoniously. It falls to the damp forest floor, tumbling over itself before coming to a stop, splashing a few drops of water onto the hem of Will’s pants. “Okay fine,” Mike says. “I’ll bite. What’s your deal?”
The other fact of the matter is this: tomorrow, Will is going to walk into the Upside Down and not look back. Tomorrow, he is either going to kill Vecna or die trying — and Mike is not going with him.
Even the actual apocalypse had to end sometime, but Will didn’t exactly expect it to happen like this.
