Chapter Text
DAY 1
“I’m leaving and I'm not coming back ever again!” A loud shout was heard outside the Shax apartment before the front door opened and Lied went out just to slam the door back with so much anger. The second-year young demon didn’t use his tail as he walked briskly away from his supposed home. His head was spinning, and too much emotion was churning in his gut.
‘ How could she say those words to me?’ He asked in his mind. He had a fight with his sister Shakky this morning, no not really. They had been arguing for weeks before and somehow the building tension was too much. Lied finally snapped. They had fights before where Lied always ended up being the one defeated and grew up to be more responsible than his big sister.
When it comes to living with her, he learned how to take care of himself and sometimes take care of his sister. They have no parents so Lied understands that he needs to be more mature compared to other kids the same age with him. Despite being known as a hardcore gamer and a gambler, Lied knows how to do all chores at home.
He was fine with it, but sometimes his sister makes it a little bit harder. In the past weeks Shakky was coming home late drunk. It was not uncommon for her to do this. It was the cause of their usual banter as well as her struggle to hunt for wealthy guys. She didn’t share anything to Lied about her work but the young demon knew that she was spending more time getting drunk than working lately. He tried to talk to her but he was pushed away. He was genuinely concerned for her but their relationship was not as good as when he was younger.
He sighed and tried to compose himself as he walked away from their apartment. Lied was preparing for school when they started fighting. So when he finally decided to leave the only thing he managed to grab was his school bag, phone, wallet and an extra sweater. Looking at his stuff he knew he won't be able to live alone with only this much. He already wants to go back
Then he remembered Shakky's words.
"You're not going to school anymore, it's a waste of money you'll just end up like him."
He closed his eyes trying to stop tearing up. She can't take that away from him. He will not agree with it. Babyls is the only place he can be himself. Where everyone accepts who he is. At first he thought that school was no fun, that he would just complete his years just as an average student like everyone else. But he was wrong. Meeting his classmates was the greatest thing that happened to him, they became friends and did amazing things. They were branded as the miss fit but they've proven that they are worth so much as long as they work together. Pushing one another to grow and get stronger. He wanted to stay with them. That's why in their second year he will do his best to stay with them.
The idea of leaving Babyls made him feel so bad. He didn't know what to do yet. But one is certain he has to go for class right now. Later he'll think about where to stay and how he can survive on his own.
~~~~~
In the Royal One, the Misfit Class was slowly showing up. "Good Morning!" Iruma said spotting Lied at the door. "Whoa Iruma, you're quite energetic today." Lied said smiling as Jazz stepped beside him. "It's just Tuesday and I already want it to be the weekend. Unlike Iruma, who is still brimming in life." The black haired demon said.
"Of course, what do you expect from Iruma sama!" Asmodeus exclaimed.
"Good Morning too Azu-kun" Lied answered with a grin, it looks like Asmodeus will retort but another batch of their classmates came in. The blond takes the opportunity to sit on his desk. Everyone was on their usual antics, it seemed to be a normal day for everyone, well except for him. He folded his extra sweater and placed it under the desk as he thought about where he'd be sleeping tonight. Shouldn't he be more concerned about food? How he could self support his studies. It was now sinking in what entailed his decision to run away. He has yet to check how much money he has in his wallet. It made him a little bit unsure if he could survive even a week.
"Lied!" Jazz said, grabbing his shoulder. It snapped him to his senses and looked at the taller boy. "Did you hear anything I said?" Jazz asked, frowning at him.
"I- I'm sorry Jazz I was not paying attention." He tried to sound unaffected by it. "No it's fine, I was asking you if you want to come with us, Gaap was invited to go to Sabbath after class. There's only two spots available for guys." Jazz explained excitedly. Lied eyes sparkled at the idea of going to a Sabbath, he will be able to test his charms toward girls. "Count me i-" Lied shut his mouth and paled as he realized something.
"What is it?" Jazz asked nervously.
"Um, actually I'm not going. I had something to do after school." Lied said with a plain expression. 'I don't have enough money to spend at all.' This internal voice supplied.
"Oh, maybe next time then, I'll ask Sabnock instead." The taller demon said waving a short goodbye to the blond.
Lied sighed as he mourned his misfortune. He reminded himself to be strong and think of a way to support himself and continue going to school. Basking with new wave of determination the young demon faced the day ahead of him.
The class went by as usual, the move rooms sometimes depending on what is the course for the day. Lied almost forgot his current predicament until lunch time. He usually didn't appreciate the free meals the Babyls provide but now it was a huge blessing to him. He got one solution to his problem.
"Uh, Lied.." Iruma wanted to ask his friend why he ordered two sets of meals. Lied was trying his best to eat the meal as much as he could. "What's gotten into you?" The blunette continued his words.
"Mumn, rumn murnehg" Lied answered as he stuff his mouth with some kind of meat. He took his time swallowing his food and drank water before he can finally answer properly. "We are growing demons Iruma! We need to be always in top shape." He said smiling at the boy in front of him, Asmodeus and Clara on Iruma's side eating their own meals. "I see.. okay." Iruma didn't ask any further.
The following class was more on theories and in door activities. But Lied was tired to his bones. He was dragging his feet by the end of the class. Kalego sensei dismissed them and left the Royal One. The other students were still lingering in the room as some are ready to go home. Lied kept himself busy playing his game, he had no activities in the club today. He's plan was to stay in Royal One for the night, if he would be able to do that he know he would survive for a while.
"Bye Lied kun, see you tomorrow!" Iruma waved at him and he missed a shot in his game console. He made a mistake and looked up to see Iruma's worried expression toward him. Leid focused on his facade. "Bye Iruma!" He said smiling at his friend. Soon everyone left him in the room. The Blonde demon looks around inspecting Purson to come out.
"Purson I know your there." He tried, but he was met with more silence. After a few minutes he decided to go to the sleeping quarters of the Royal One. He was planning to just check the room because it was really early but his tired body was drawn to the soft bed that he flopped down on it with a groan. "This is so comfy.." He rubbed his face in the pillow. "I wish I had a bed like this."
Lied think of his room. He grew up in that apartment since he was 7. He forgot why he was living with his sister. All he know is that their parents left them and his father was a criminal and his older sister was left to take care of him. He grew up without having real friends because he always had to go straight home to do chores as his sister worked part time to support their needs. Lied was not a perfect brother, he was not intelligent enough to get a scholarship to help ease the burden and he caused problems sometimes but he was actually trying his best. Before, he was trying to quit school on purpose because he didn't want to be a burden anymore. But his sister wanted him to at least graduate.
Leid now wanted that too, but it turns out his sister was lying. Her words this morning rang in his head.
"You're not going to school anymore, it's a waste of money you'll just end up like him."
"Do you know why I'm struggling to get a partner? Because I'm already raising a kid!"
"No one would want me until I get rid of you!"
The pain in his chest was back. He huffed and closed his eyes, he was not really going back.
