Work Text:
On a quiet spring afternoon in the UA, Shinsou walked through the corridors with an expression of annoyance on his face.
After the war, a lot of things happened.
Shinsou, for example, was admitted to class 2A after Aoyama's withdrawal.
The director announced that all students affected by the war would receive assistance of any kind and also asked for help from the students to support the reconstruction of Japan.
It'll take a while for everything to get back to normal.
Although if there's something that hasn't changed between before the war and now it's a constant annoyance that goes and comes in Shinsou's life since the Sports Festival.
A annoyance called Monoma.
From that moment, it seemed that wherever he was, Monoma was always there, gravitating around Shinsou.
Always so cheerful, so speaking, so arrogant, so invasive in his personal space, so... Damn charming.
Despite Shinsou's efforts to stay away from Monoma, Monoma seemed determined to make his life impossible. However, Shinsou couldn't help feeling a strange connection to his 'annoyance', as if he knew deep down that Monoma was just trying to draw his attention in a peculiar way.
And seeing him always makes Shinsou feel somewhere between frustrated and happy.
Well, it's a real hassle.
One day, during a training class, Shinsou and Monoma found themselves pairing in a combat exercise. While fighting in the middle of the sand, Shinsou could not avoid the euphoria that invaded him in fighting with Monoma, the spark of ingenuity and courage in his rival was enthuses.
Monoma was good in a short- and medium-range confrontation, his agility was something that should not be underestimated, even with his scarf as an advantage was a hard job to beat him.
When his scarf caught Monoma and he gave his characteristic maniac laugh, Shinsou couldn't help finding him adorable.
Gradually, as they spent more time together, Shinsou and Monoma discovered that they had more in common than they thought. They shared similar interests and found a strange sense of camaraderie in their sarcastic interactions.
Monoma did not dislike his silence and never hesitated to fill it with his own voice, telling him the most recent rumors and including him in some activity of class 2B.
Moreover, it was fun to see Monoma come in to class 2A every morning, pavonishing as he arrogantly told the whole class that they were losers before turning around to look at him, exclaiming, "Except Shinsou-kun, he's great!" before leaving the class.
Unlike the first year when the whole class was angry, everyone was already accustomed and happily resigned.
Bakugou-kun even replied patiently: "Good morning to you too, Monoma-kun."
That's something Shinsou never overcomes.
With the passing of the days, the relationship between Shinsou and Monoma began to change from confrontation to resignation (from shinsou) to complicity (this time mutually), from annoyance to friendship. They found that they could complement each other in a unique way and that together they formed an unbeatable team.
Finally, on the day of graduation, Shinsou and Monoma, no... Hitoshi and Neito said goodbye to the UA with a smile on their faces and hands intertwined. Although at first they were like oil and water, now they are inseparable, ready to face together any challenge they face in the future.
Because... Sometimes the people we least expect can become the most important in our lives.
And while Neito might be a real annoyance sometimes, Hitoshi't change it for anything in the world.
