Work Text:

Cas glanced around the spa’s bar, trying to adjust to heat as a human was difficult. As an angel he could simply regulate his body temperature and never have to worry about sweating.

Now it seemed he was always sweating.

When he was walking.

When he was fighting.

When they destroyed that vampire nest, Cas had felt such an intense heat. It permeated the air around them, hanging over them and sinking deep in their bones.

Cas’ attention was brought to his two companions across the pool. Both brothers were seemingly engrossed in the books they were reading. He smiled in contentment, he could never have imagined that this was his future.

“Sir?”

A pleasant voice sounded behind him. Turning his head, he made eye contact with a young lady standing there holding an ice cream cone with rainbow sprinkles.

He smiled graciously at her, taking it in hope of finding some relief to the heat. Before he could turn around, the bartender placed the two beers in front of him.

Cas nodded his head in thanks to the bartender. Wrapping his fingers around both the bottlenecks, he picked them up in one hand and headed back towards the seats.

As he walked, he suddenly realized he wasn’t quite too sure how to eat the ice cream. Was he supposed to bite it? Or was he supposed to lick at it?

Glancing around didn’t help much either. One kid seemed to be biting at it, taking a great big chunk out of it as he hurried to finish it to get back into the pool.

Cas noticed a woman who was licking it. But he also noticed that she was staring pretty intensely at her partner, trying to get her attention.

Cas merely shrugged and took a small nibble. Coldness touched his lips and sent shivers down his spine. The cold was a stark contrast to the heat that surrounded him.

He also felt a little drop of cold on his leg from the bottles in his hand. Realizing that the bottles would soon be warming up, from both the heat of Texas and his hand, he walked a little quicker trying to reach Dean and Sam.

As he got closer, he did realize Dean had his book upside down. He smirked, realizing he wasn’t the only one being affected by the temperature.
