"He remembers reading about Tantalus, taunted for eternity with his salvation placed just out of reach. Buck relates now. There was a cruel sense of irony that the clarity that everything he had been looking for was right in front of him came with the burden of knowing that he could never touch it. Because Eddie was straight, and still dating Marisol, and Buck would rather die than risk losing him, so he’s bottled all of this deep in his chest. He would move on, place Eddie in the box firmly labeled FRIEND, and make peace with the fact that maybe there just wasn’t anyone out there for him. It would be fitting."

Buck overhears Eddie talking with Bobby about being in love with someone and assumes it’s Marisol. He takes it really well, obviously.
Takes place in an alternate 7B where Eddie doesn’t blow up his life and Buck realizes his feelings in 7x4 were not about Tommy. He’s still an idiot (affectionate) though.Series
