Tamaki is tired.
Of course, it's what everyone expects from a brand new sidekick. He's been working hard with Fatgum to make his name out there for a few months now, with a decent amount of success.
But that's not what he's currently tired from.
He's currently tired of Eijirou's recent ramblings.
Listen, he loves that kid a bit too much (those are Mirio's words, not his), and he's really happy with the brotherly bond they grew into, but gosh.
The hardening wielder just can't shut up about Bakugou Katsuki.
Tamaki and Eijirou make it a routine to meet up once every 2 weeks outside of their work studies for lunch, and they make sure to text and call as much as they can in-between. It’s been great for their bond, and he’s really happy to be a brother, even if it’s hard.
Tamaki doesn't have any siblings, so he doesn’t have any examples on how to be a good brother, but Eijirou seems happy with him, and that's all that matters at the end of it.
Tamaki's only issue is that any time they speak recently, the only thing on Eijirou's tongue is the explosion wielder.
"..and then Bakugou melted away the whole rock! Who even knew he could do that? Mind you, he's still.."
"Did you know Bakugou is able to make spaghetti from scratch? Last Monday he.."
"I'm soooo tired... it's okay though! Tonight, Bakugou and me.."
At first it was a little endearing, seeing the loud redhead ramble over someone he's very obviously attracted to, but at some point Tamaki grew tired of it.
He has no issues with the explosive blonde at all, but his little brother constant pining is not what he wants to hear all the time! At this point, he thinks he might know more about Bakugou than he knows about Eijirou!
It doesn't help that his own boyfriend just laughs at him when he tries to complain, not even showing a little bit of understanding.
"You should've heard me about you Tamaki, I'm sure Nejire would love to repeat what she heard." is what Mirio always says.
And if those words made his cheeks heat up, that's no one business but his own.
All that doesn't matter right now.
Right now, Eijirou needed to either get over his crush or confess, because Tamaki wants to hear more about Eijirou himself, his studies, his other friends, and not just about Bakugou Katsuki.
And Tamaki finally decides to tell him that instantly the next time they call.
"Confess!? 'Ki, what? We've been dating for 3 months already!’’ Eijirou’s confused tone has Tamaki stiff up in his boyfriend's arms.
It's silent for a minute. He slowly turns to face Mirio, looking to see if he heard the same thing. Mirio looks like he’s holding back his laugh.
‘They’re dating already?’ His boyfriend mouths to him. Tamaki gave him a warning glare before looking away again. ‘’Tamaki?’’ Eijirou’s voice spoke again.
Tamaki silently counted to 10 in his head, relaxing slowly.
He let out the breath he held.
Then he exploded the conversation.
"Well, why did you never tell me anything about that!?" He sits up straight as he yells into the phone, pushing himself out of Mirio’s arms.
"I thought it was pretty obvious! He's all I talk about!" Eijirou yells back. There’s a chuckle on the other end, and Tamaki feels the irritation boiling under his skin. The bastard was in his room too? Why is he there?
"I thought you were hopelessly in love or something! Tell your brother these things properly next time, you pest! I’m not a mind reader!’’ He stands up, and starts pacing around the room as he yells back into the phone.
"Do not pull out the brother card now! You never told me you were dating Mirio either!" That gained a chuckle out of Mirio, and Tamaki quickly shot him another glare.
"We were dating before I even met you, you little-"
"And I had a crush on Bakugou before I even met you!" Eijirou interrupts him, and Tamaki can already see the smirk forming on the hardening wielder’s face.
"That's NOT the same and you know it Ei!’’
They continue bickering for a good few minutes. The occasional background chuckles from both sides only bringing more irritation to the conversation. Mirio even snorts when Eijirou calls out that even Tetsutetsu noticed, earning his boyfriend a quick slap on the back of his head.
At some point worry starts bubbling in Tamaki's stomach, and he feels the need to cease it immediately.
What was his brother saying? Doesn’t matter right now. "Does he treat you well?" He cuts off Eijirou mid-sentence.
It’s quiet on both sides for a second, nobody even daring to breathe.
"The best." Eijirou’s tone sounded soft as he spoke again, making Tamaki smile a little.
"And he's not gonna hurt you?" As soon as he pronounced these words, there’s quiet mumbling on the other end.
"He said he'd rather die than let me get hurt." Eijirou’s smile was clear in his words this time. Tamaki sighed. "I’ll have to see that for myself.’’ He then mumbles, earning a kick from Mirio.
"..Don't tell me you're going to give him some sort of shovel talk, like in those movies, 'Ki." Eijirou says teasingly. Tamaki stays quiet at that.
That is actually a great ide-
"Tamaki!" Eijirou shouts out, as if reading his mind. A smirk pops up on his face. "Bring him over for the next lunch we have and we'll see about that." He replies teasingly, and Eijirou starts stuttering on the other end.
"D-Don't you da-" He hangs up the phone before the redhead could finish his sentence, throwing it on the kitchen island.
He ignores the immediate buzzing coming from his phone as he turns back to his boyfriend, crossing his arms. Mirio just raises an eyebrow at his glare and just chuckles at him.
"A shovel talk? You?" The blonde brings out, opening his arms again. Tamaki just drops himself into the inviting arms, earning a quiet ‘ugh’.
"You're coming with me, I’ll need backup because that explosive kid is scary." He mumbles into his boyfriend’s neck.
"Anything for you babe."
