Chapter 1: His Fist Felt Like A Kiss

Chapter Text

JJ smirked as he taunted Rafe. The older male simply glared, trying to reign in his anger. It wasn’t working. “What? Too much of a Kook to punch me now?” JJ teased, watching as Rafe’s blank face form into one of anger.

JJ, who taunted the man, should’ve seen it coming, by a mile. The punch was expected but the force of it wasn’t. Rafe’s rough knuckles crashed against JJ’s cheek, his teeth clicking together at the mere force.

The younger male’s body nearly toppled, but at the last second JJ forced his balance back. JJ barked a laugh, eyes gleaming in pride. “That’s the Rafe Cameron I know!” Rafe’s eye twitched at his words, making JJ laugh even more.

“JJ! Rafe!” At the sound of Sarah’s voice, both males turned towards where she was. She was followed by JJ’s friends, hot on her heels. JJ should’ve known to not fight Rafe near the party.

“Honestly! Can you two not go a day without breaking one another’s noses!” She exclaimed in frustration, sea blue eyes glaring at both boys. JJ rolled his eyes, crossing his arms and scoffed at her.

“He started it.” That didn’t give him the reaction he wanted. Sarah merely glared harder before turning her gaze to her brother. “Rafe, we spoke about this.” The spoken words seemed to have startled the older Cameron as they watched him stiffen up.

“Sarah, fuck off.” Rafe walks off from them, heading back to the party. They all watched as Rafe grabbed a beer and chug it down. “Typical Rafe Cameron.” Kie mutters loudly, ignoring the annoyed look Sarah gave her.

Pope and John B were merely puzzled by the exchange. Rafe wasn’t one to give up so easily, even with his sister involved. “Alright, I’m done here.” JJ turns to his friends, grinning ear to ear. “Who’s on board with the Chateau and weed?!” Everyone laughed at JJ’s antics, but nodding along anyway.

The exchange between the Cameron siblings was forgotten within the next few minutes.

“He got you good this time.” Pope states, cleaning up the blood from JJ’s lip. The blonde hadn’t even notice he bit his lip on impact with the punch. “Yeah, whatever Pope. Don’t compliment the enemy, man.” Pope merely scolded JJ for speaking while he cleaned.

“I just don’t understand why he keeps at this.”

“There’s nothing to understand, JJ. This is Rafe Cameron we’re talking about. He’s a psychopath.” Kie says, venom in her tone.

Sarah goes to speak up before her phone pings. She looks down and sees a text from Rafe. ‘Dr. Lowell. She seems like the best option.’ Sarah hides her small smile, glad Rafe was finally reaching out for help and getting it.

‘Alright. We’ll set up an appointment for Thursday.’ She texted back before turning her phone off and returning back to the conversation. “He just needs off the coke and maybe he’d be a decent person.” JJ says, passing the joint to John B.

“Hey, weren’t we doing this to forget about him? Stop talking.” John B says. The others nodded, knowing the other was right. It’s why they did this most times now, even more than before. To forget. Either the day or what has happened in the last year.

JJ suddenly lifted himself from the ground, dropping his hand in the air. “P4L?” He asked, smiling at all his friends. They chuckled, dropping their hands on top of one another.

“P4L!”
