    She can feel Lucanis watching her when he replies, “I did.”

    Tali trails the tip of a finger around the rim of her cup. “She seems to have taken a shine to you,” she forces out, not liking how bitter the words taste on her tongue.

    “I…what?” He sounds so baffled by her observation that she cannot help but glance up at him. “A shine…?” he trails off, perplexed, mug held between his hands.

    Quirking a brow at him, she elaborates, “She likes you? She finds you handsome? Would probably like to fu-”
