Chapter 1: Under The Tree
Chapter Text
A lone girl was sleeping on the grass field, curled up like a cat. Surrounded by nothing but daisies and gentle breeze, there was very little to disturb her slumber. Only her choice was something that could awake her.
And so she did, announcing her presence with a big yawn. The lilac haired gal slowly picked herself up as she slowly opened her eyes, finally seeing where she found herself at. Although the grass field seemed endless, a giant tree was right in her sight. Immediately intrigued, the lilac haired girl decided to get closer.
As she was ever approaching towards the big tree, she saw another person sitting beneath it, looking at the sky while happily swaying left and right, humming a little tune. That person happened to be a very familiar looking woman to the girl, immediately recognizable to her thanks to her long orange ponytail and blue maid like dress. Once the lilac haired girl got closer, she blurted her name.
“Miss Yukizome?” the lilac haired girl tilted her head, curious to see whether her feeling about that woman was correct.
It quickly turned out to be the case.
“Hello, my dear. It’s really nice seeing you.” the woman in maid’s dressed has a beaming smile upon seeing someone who’s more than just a student.
“It’s nice seeing you too, Miss Yukizome. Can I come here?” asked the girl if she could sit nearby.
“Of course, Chiaki! Like I would never say no to that!” Chisa tapped the ground, inviting her to provide some company. Without hesitation did her student eagerly sit down as she leaned right on her.
“Say, Miss Yukizome? What is this place, to be exact?” asked Chiaki about her surroundings, since as pleasant as it looked, there were still a lot of unknowns about it.
“Ah, you’re in the land of dreams, Chiaki. This is your place.” her teacher revealed the true nature of the place rather quickly, a fact that quickly caught Chiaki’s attention. The lilac haired girl perked up a bit upon hearing where she is.
“Really? If that’s the case then….” Chiaki’s smile widened as she realized the limitless potential of her dream world. She was immediately curious on how lucid she really was there, so she gave it a little test.
“Are we the only ones here?” wondered Chiaki as she looked around, with only daisies and grass being present in her sight.
“Well, since this is your dream world, you can bring here anyone you want.” Chisa advised her to let her imagination go wild. Nothing bad could happen to her, since she was in the world of her dreams.
“Hmmm….” Chiaki began to ponder, wondering who else could join them in these calm lands.
Within blink of an eye, almost as quickly as she thought, she saw something. White little puffs were seen, grazing and frolicking around.
“Baa! Baaaa!”.
“Look, Miss Yukizome! Sheepies are here” to say that Chiaki was excited would have been an understatement.
“And not only just them. Look over there!” Chisa pointed at nearby puppies of many breeds, such as Havanese, Golden retriever and many more. They were happily playing around, running in circles as they wagged their tails.
Somewhere near, cats were sunbathing, looking like little fluffy loaves. They reminded Chiaki over her musician friend, including the loaf part. It seemed like these felines were so relaxed, they weren’t even bothering chasing down bunnies, who were just hopping around.
Chiaki and Chisa remained at the tree, as they saw the former’s dream world getting ever more populated. It weren’t just fauna that inhabited her dream world.
“When you said anyone, you meant anyone, right?” asked Chiaki, just to be sure.
“Anyone, dear. Your only limit is your imagination.” Chisa reassured her that nothing really stopped her. She could indulge as much as she wanted. Thus, Chiaki began to ponder again.
And as quickly as all of the fauna appeared, so did other life forms. First ones to appear were a pair, one being a pink puff ball, while the other one being a little pink haired fairy.
At that point, Chiaki knew she was in the best place possible.
“Look! Look there, Miss Yukizome! They’re here!” Chiaki was seriously about to start hopping in place upon the sight of her favorite characters.
“Hehe, I see them indeed.” chuckled Chisa as she found some kind of peace within her, seeing her student so happy.
And as if it couldn’t get any better, a spaceship from Gala Omega flew right over them. Both gals were just in pure tranquil bliss, having some laughs as they observed how the world around them evolved.
But that suddenly came to an end. Just abruptly, like one would have expected from a dream.
Chiaki, now in real world, found herself laying in her bed. Her bedroom was quite a nice place, so there wasn’t much to complain about.
That being said, she did wake up with a pout on her face.
“Heck, that was a good one. Why didn’t it last longer?” Chiaki couldn’t help but to feel a little grumpy about it.
Although, it gave her an idea.
Once she got out of the bed, she immediately went into the living room, which was fairly clean, despite the fact so many consoles and games were in it. All thanks to Chisa, who took extra effort maintaining the tidiness of her place.
Speaking of Chisa Yukizome, she was in the kitchen, already preparing breakfast for both of them. Ever since a fateful day, Chisa herself moved into Chiaki’s house, making sure that her little student was never alone ever again.
“Good morning, sweetie.” Chisa greeted her with a smile on her face.
“G’mornin, Miss Yukizome.” Chiaki was still a bit groggy, but she was slowly regaining her energy.
“Look what I made for both of us!” Chisa showed her what she made for breakfast: American style pancakes, with maple syrup as an addition. The sweet smell of the delicacy was enough to re-energize Chiaki.
Breakfast has commenced. During the little feast, Chiaki saw an opportunity to tell her idea to Chisa.
“Miss Yukizome, would it be okay if we went somewhere?” asked Chiaki as she began forwarding her idea.
“Oh, sure! There’s no problem at all. Just tell me where we should go and we’ll get there in no time!” Chisa was quick to be open to any ideas, as long as she wasn’t in harm’s way.
“Let’s go to the park. It’d be nice there, I think.” Chiaki gave out her suggestion.
“Say, we can go as soon as we finish breakfast, but there’s no rush about it.” it seemed like Chisa accepted her idea. Not that Chiaki had any doubts about it, but it was still a nice feeling that someone would be so quick to grant her wishes.
After they finished feasting on pancakes, they decided it was time to visit Chiaki’s destination of choice. As soon as they got out, Chiaki held Chisa’s hand through out their walk. Even though she was at least a college student at that point, having Chisa nearby was always reassuring to her.
The journey towards the park was rather short. Surrounded by calm trees, Chiaki began looking for one that was closest to the dream’s tree. It didn’t take her long to find something close to it.
“Come here, Miss Yukizome!” Chiaki led her motherly figure towards the desired tree as both of them sat down and began observing the nearby area.
“You know, I have to ask. What made you want to visit the park?” piqued Chisa. Although welcoming to the idea, it wasn’t entirely clear to her where exactly did her student get an idea.
“Ah, I just had a dream where both of us were sitting behind a big tree, while we watched what was happening around us. There were so many sheepies and puppies and kitties, and even Kirby was there!” Chiaki was quick to elaborate. Not only did her explanation help Chisa understand her wish more, but the prospect of her appearing in her student’s dreams melted her heart.
“Awwww, I appear in your dreams? Oh my god, that’s just so….” Chisa couldn’t help but to give her a tight hug, letting her know that she really appreciated how much did Chiaki think about her, both consciously and subconsciously. “You really are my precious cinnamon bun, you know that?”.
“Heh….you do appear often in nice dreams.” Chiaki enjoyed the warmth of her hug as she had a quaint little smile on her face.
Just like in their dream, they observed their surroundings. The park was fairly empty, although some people were walking their dogs there. Most of them were just going by their day.
One key distinctive difference was the lack of sheep.
But neither could complain, as they were just enjoying the rest of the day.
At the very least, until they got hungry. That was when they decided to go home, to cook up something for their lunch.
But little did they know, that the very same pink puffball and a pink haired fairy were also strolling down the park. Had they just stayed a little long, they could have crossed their paths.
Not that it were their last chance. They still had many opportunities to do so. After all, it’s never over until its truly over.
Chapter 2: Cats will come
Summary:
Blyat
Chapter Text
Chiaki found herself in a living room, one that looked just like hers. The day outside was clear, with only gentle breeze heard. She was sitting on the couch, playing her GameGirl Advance handheld console.
However, she was not alone.
Accompanying her was a rather rotund tabby cat, who was in a loaf position. She was feeling rather lazy, slowly blinking at Chiaki with her big black eyes.
However, she was feeling cheeky.
“You are blyat.” the tabby cat said suddenly. Confused by the origin of the voice, Chiaki looked around with a raised eyebrow.
The tabby cat repeated itself.
“You are blyat.”.
Recognizing the source, Chiaki looked towards the cat, perplexed by its words.
“What is a blyat?” asked Chiaki, tilting her head.
“You are blyat.” the cat insisted.
“No seriously, what is that?” Chiaki kept asking, but to no avail.
“You are blyat.”.
“I am not blyat, I’m Chiaki” she refuted the cat’s statement, but the feline was not convinced.
“You are blyat”.
Thus, Chiaki began pouting.
“No.” Chiaki simply stated. Not that it helped much.
“You are blyat”.
And then, Chiaki stood up from the couched and stomped, like a rabbit would do a thump.
“I. am. not. blyat! I am Chiaki!” Chiaki seethed, but little did she know she fell into a trap. Suddenly, the whole room became a pitch black void, with a spotlight shining right on her. The cat was also visible and it seemed like it stood up as well, stretching before beginning its strut towards Chiaki.
A rather strange song of Slovakian origin, rumored to be called “Čertova Čaša”. The feline began walking towards her when drums began to play in that song, with her steps syncing to them. Chiaki didn’t even notice the change in scenery, as she was too busy pouting.
Suddenly, more cats of various kinds arrived, all of them having their tails up. So did the very first tabby cat she saw. Many of them were rotund, just like the tabby cat. They all walked in a circle around Chiaki while the music played.
Chiaki shook her head while pouting, in denial that she was “blyat”, whatever that meant in the context. But little did she know that it was exactly the desire of cats, to become a “blyat”. Being a “blyat” just meant being a cat to them.
However, unknown to her, she turned into a small, perpetually pouting plush of herself, spinning in the middle while cats continued their ritual. It seemed like it would never stop, as cats kept on walking and walking.
Whether she liked it or not, she truly became a “blyat”.
Yet it all came to an abrupt end when Chiaki woke up, with a pout on her face.
“I am not blyat.” She grumbled to herself as she groggily got herself out of her bed, going towards the bathroom to brush her teeth.
That, however, did not stop her pout.
Meanwhile, Ibuki Mioda, a friend of hers, was kneading on the couch, seemingly just awoken as well. Sleepover was the justification of Ultimate Musician’s presence in Chiaki’s house.
Then Chiaki went into the living room, still sporting a pout, although less groggy than before. It took a bit for Ibuki to notice her, since she was still kneading.
“Oh, good nom-nom-nom-nomming, Chiaki!” greeted the musician and immediately noticed that her friend is in a rather strange state. “Say, why the puffy face already? Ibuki didn’t do anything naughty while you were sleeping!”.
“...Cats called me “blyat” in my dreams.” Chiaki wasn’t really shy to explain her conundrum, since it wasn’t something embarrassing. Just strange.
“Cats called you what again?” asked Ibuki, scrathing her chin as she looked up towards ceiling.
“Blyat.” Chiaki repeated herself. It took a bit for Ibuki to comprehend what she meant.
“Ibuki’s Ibuki sensors say that she has zero idea what that word means. So therefore, Ibuki does not see a reason to pout over it.” the musician reassured here that if she got called “Blyat” in real life, she shouldn’t worry too much.
“That’s right. I’m Chiaki, not blyat.” Chiaki kept coping and seething about it, although she has stopped pouting.
“That’s right! You are Chiaki! Now, Ibuki has a good idea: why don’t we go to an arcade?” suddenly suggested Ibuki. It worked seamlessly, as it seemed like Chiaki forgot about being called “blyat”.
“Actually, that’s a great idea. Heard there’s new games in it, like After Burner. Always wanted to try that out.” Chiaki, being a video game enthusiast she was, was quick to agree to the idea.
“But first, lets get some morning grub before we go! Ibuki and Chiaki must get their energy before we go on an intense gaming session! And Ibuki bets that the victory ratio will favor Ibuki!” advised Ibuki while boasting at the same time, even though her gaming performance was nothing to boast about.
Thus, they went on to get some breakfast and after that, went on a journey to the nearest arcade. They talked about all sorts of games, what will they play, what they want to play, and so on.
As they passed an alleyway, they failed to notice three rotund stray cats, who were in their loaf position. The presence of two gals immediately caught their attention.
“Our kind has been spotted” one of the cats communicated with the other two.
“Yesss….we must follow them.” suggested the middle cat, still in loafing position.
Third cat, however, was a bit more concise.
“Blyaaats….blyaaaatsss…..”.
Then, all of them stretch as they stood up, following those two girls with a particularly confident stride. They were curious to see more, what kind of adventures will they go. Perhaps, they will join their lives? Only they truly knew….
...Blyaaaat….
Chapter 3: Invisible
Chapter Text
Some students of Class 77-B were gathered around the central island of Jabberwock. The sky only had few clouds on it. Almost an ideal day, has it not been for one factor. One black and white factor.
“Upupupu! Thank you for coming to the meeting, fellow participants!” a bear named Monokuma greeted those students.
On sight, Chiaki was already glaring at him.
“Bummer, just when I thought it was going to be good. Can you go away already?” thought Chiaki to herself, already barely tolerating the bear’s presence. Her rabbit friend was of similar sentiment.
“Monokuma, you foul bear! What kind of evil shenanigans are you up to today?!” Usami, previously turned into “Monomi”, a rabbit clipped of its wings while being a facsimile of the bear.
“What do you think? Have you forgotten in what kind of conundrum did I all put you in?” Monokuma raised his index finger on his paw, showing off his claws.
“Right, Killing Game….” sighed Hajime, feeling like he has experienced such situation before.
“Brownie points for you! I am so glad that youngsters these days can remember a thing said yesterday!” approved the bear, giving them a rather bothersome reminder what sort of events will happen to them. Chiaki was already growling at him, although quietly.
“One of those again….” she really wanted to roll with her eyes, even though she wasn’t really against playing games of such genre. Just that her arch-nemesis was the host was something that annoyed her to no end.
“Monokuma, you may speak with your foul mouth. Elaborate your reason on why should we heed your deceiving words.” Gundham, one of few other students present in the meeting. Chiaki also recalled that Fuyuhiko, Peko, Sonia and Mikan were there. She wasn’t sure why were others absent.
Aside from Teruteru, he was blocked from her mindspace.
“Very well! Allow me to announce…..the first motive!” Monokuma performed a gesture, worthy of being put in a theater, as he announced what they all dreaded. Someone’s going to be kaput in the forthcoming days.
Or so they thought.
Just as the bear was about to elaborate with his scheme, Chiaki lost focus due one thing: from far away, she saw something odd. She squinted her eyes to get a clearer look on what appeared to be a Merkava Mk. II main battle tank on a balloon, flying upwards.
“Wait, what was that?” she thought to herself, still more focused on the background event than to ramblings of the bear.
However, it didn’t seem like others saw it.
“Tch, you think we’re gonna fall for shit like this?” scoffed Fuyuhiko, thinking it was one of those “Oldest tricks in the books” that one had to be an idiot to fall for.
“They always say that and someone always kicks the bucket over it….” Monokuma himself almost sounded bothered, perhaps due to his experiences with other Killing Games, some more grandiose than others.
“Yeah, because you gonna skew it that way.” grumbled Chiaki out loud. She was already aware of the formula, might as well try to do her best to prevent it.
“Oh, me? How could you say that! My paws are always squeaky clean! Mr. Clean approved, even!” the bear acted coy, solely to provoke everyone.
“Squeaky clean, my ass!” retorted Fuyuhiko as he shook his fist at the bear.
“Mr. Clean would never approve of your evil deeds, you foul bear!” seethed Sonia at him, almost getting all huffy.
“Intense anger over cleaning equipment brands is nice and all, but aren’t you all forgetting something?” Monokuma attempted to remind them of their place, but Chiaki was quick to notice some kind of rustling of bushes nearby. Others still paid more attention to bear’s theatrics.
“I am the Headmaster of Hope’s Peak Academy and your-”
Suddenly, a horned one eyed man with a red prosthetic arm jumped out of the bushes and sprinted straight towards the bear, charging like a maddened bull.
“W-WHAT?!” yelped Mikan, already wondering how events in front of her eyes were scientifically possible. Not to say others had any other different reactions, with the sole exception of Gundham, who just observed the whole ordeal like a hawk.
Even Monokuma was caught off guard.
“WH-”
But he couldn’t say much, because the horned man threw him on the ground, instantly “decommissioning him” in the process. First motive was already announced, and Monokuma was out of the game. It didn’t seem like there were any more back up copies of him coming either.
Needless to say, everyone (except Gundham) stood there with their jaws dropped as the horned man turned towards them. Chiaki felt like the man in question was rather familiar.
“...Snake?” she revealed his name and to some extent, she was correct. They were face to face with Venom Snake.
“The man who sold the world…” commented Gundham as he gave him a nod of respect.
Venom Snake did not say much before two of his colleagues emerged from bushes. A blond man with aviator glasses, holding a cane, was one of them, while the other one was an older man with a penchant of playing with his revolvers.
“Cipher won’t get his iron claws on this island. This shall be a haven of freedom and vengeance!” announced the blonde man, who went by the name of Kazuhira Miller. Oddly, the other “Kaz” was absent.
“Cipher? Haven? What are you talking about?” Hajime said some questions out loud that everyone had on their minds. Chiaki sort of knew what were they talking about, but found it difficult to explain to others.
But Kazuhira did not elaborate. Instead, Venom spoke.
“Today, you’re all Diamond Dogs.”.
Suddenly, Chiaki’s whole point of view changed entirely, now being an “external participant”, viewing some kind of collection of events that almost felt like a trailer. A song played amid these events:
“Invisible…”
“Invisible…”
Suddenly, she saw Gundham traversing through some kind of psychedelic tunnel. Both ends were dark, but the tunnel itself was filled with green and magenta light. Gundham just strolled through it with a determined expression on his face.
Then, like a jump cut, she saw herself, dressed up like a legendary soldier with bandanna on her head. She was sneaking through some kind of arctic base, filled with masked men in white, who carried Soviet era guns like AK-74.
What followed next was an entirely different setting, a dimly lit room with a big poker table. The elder man with revolvers, revealed to be none other than Revolver Ocelot, was playing a risky game of poker with Celestia Ludenberg. Both kept their stoic faces on as they held their cards.
“I’ve still got some tricks up my sleeves.” said Ocelot as he revealed his cards, but before it could be shown, it was obscured by a montage of Venom Snake extracting all sorts of tanks with his FULTON device. First, it were Soviet T-72’s in Afghanistan. Then, there were South African Olifant tanks in Angola. Lastly, there were Argentinian Assault Amphibious Vehicle’s in Falklands. No matter what side, he always extracted them so flawlessly.
Then, Monokuma returned, now in an entirely different location. He was now present in a secret base, storing a colossal but lumbering Metal Gear Sahelanthropus, in its “hunched” form. He was accompanied with a sharp dressed man, whose face was damaged beyond recognition. He went by the name of “Skull Face”.
“My plan has succeeded before it went into motion.” said the man while conversing with the bear, but before it could be revealed, Chiaki found herself, along with Venom Snake and Sonia, driving an M1 Abrams tank in the middle of Iraq, hunting for their opponents. She has heard Sonia yell “FIRE!” and “LOAD SABOT” or “LOAD HEAT” so many times, that she has lost the count. For some reason, Chiaki also wore an eye patch, even though both of her eyes were totally fine.
Before she could even recollect the event, a sudden scene of AC-130H Spectre gunship was circling above somewhere in Grenada, already sending a message for what will happen next.
Almost like a contrast to what happened before, she recalled another scene, of Major Zero just looking at the newspaper in his office while sipping tea. “Empire Strikes Back” was the main headline of the newspaper. Then, he commented out of the blue:
“The revolution will not be televised.”.
Fighting ensured somewhere in Angola after the statement was said, between PMC forces and Venom Snake. He was accompanied by Chiaki, who was providing armored support with Olifant tank while Venom Snake kept knocking out PMC grunts.
Then, once again another corridor, but this time Venom Snake was walking through it. Right in front of him was Skull Face, who was also approaching him, with a perpetual but forced grin on his face. Like two cowboys, they pulled out their guns, but before the outcome could be known, it all faded to black.
Lastly, Chiaki found herself in the same arctic base, now accompanied by Revolver Ocelot.
“You’re pretty good!” he said it to her as he made finger gun gestures to her.
But then the song ended.
And so did her dream.
She wasn’t even entirely upset that it ended. She was more flabbergasted and in awe.
“Wow….I must have played quite a bit of Metal Gear lately, heh….Would love to play that some day.” she mused to herself as she got out her bed, went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth.
After all of that was done, she went to her living room, where Hajime already awaited her. He was preparing her breakfast.
“Good morning, Chiaki.” he greeted her as he was already done with breakfast, just a bunch of American pancakes with maple syrup.
“G’morning, Hajime. I’ve got something crazy to tell you, I think.” she reported to him as if he were her “Colonel”, in a way.
“Another crazy dream, huh? I had a feeling it would be that.” Hajime already anticipated it, since he was essentially her “dream journal”. She had many dreams of equal surreal value. None than less, he allowed her to elaborate, since he did enjoy hearing her ramblings.
And so she did. She explained to him all.
It was a rainy day outside, so they had no plans to go out. Just a lazy day at Chiaki’s house.
But someone else was not having a lazy day.
Meanwhile on the Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo, a man in a black cloak was walking across it, until he saw some kind of ship passing by. He then jumped off the ship and landed perfectly on that suspicious ship. What happened next to him was something very few knew….Perhaps the man has already went through it before, but in New York….
