Not The Only One

Summary:

Lloyd snaps when Jay and Kai argue in Crystalized, it’s the first time everyone sees him like this. He knocks some sense into Jay whilst showing his own emotions and struggles in the process.

OR: I rewrote the scene that bugged me the most. Like, what do you mean everyone stood there while Jay was attacking Kai for an accident?! Not only that, but they didn’t even resolve any emotions between them

Notes:

Heyyo hope you enjoy this! The idea popped in my head so this is going to be a part of my new series I would recommend reading Falling Out The Nest because it covers this au pre fic and post seabound

Work Text:

The second Lloyd saw Jay kick Kai, he felt more anger than he had at himself. He quickly jumped in front of Jay, ready to stop him in any way.

“Get out of my way, Lloyd!” Jay shouted as Kai got up, powering up his flames.

No!” Lloyd shouted, his voice echoing through the room. He marched up to Jay, who took a step back. “Do you think you get to hurt us because of accidents?!” Jay’s eyes widened in shock, Lloyd almost never yelled at people unless he was really angry or agitated. “Kai apologized, he didn't mean to! You’re not the one who gets to kick us around, no one is!”

Jay narrowed his eyes as he glared back at Lloyd. “You can’t talk, you think I’m going to forget how you attacked Cole, before leaving us to grieve on our own?!” He snapped and Lloyd let out a shuddering sigh.

“No, I don’t. Me and Cole made up just a few months ago, it was a mistake, Jay, and I left because I felt unsafe at the monastery at the time.” Lloyd explained, and Kai frowned as Jay stood there.

“Unsafe? Buddy, we would never have let anything happen to you in our own home.” Kai said, but Lloyd shook his head, crossing his arms.

“I know, but every day you guys would shout, scream, and throw things at each other. I never even left my room unless I needed to.” Tears began to flow from his eyes as everyone else came to a realization.

Cole stepped forward gently. “Lloyd, we’re sorry, but emotions were high at the time, you have to realize that.” He said, and Lloyd nodded.

Lloyd turned to Jay, who looked guilty. “Like you said, we all dealt with Nya’s sacrifice differently, Kai, Cole, and Zane kept at the fighting while you went into solitude. However, I ended up in an endless loop, wondering whether it was worth getting up each day, not knowing if I wanted to wake up each morning.” Cole, Jay, and Kai looked at him in slight horror, Jay, who had felt similar things, felt horrible for how he’d been acting lately. “Nya was my sister, she was the one who magically made my skinned knees stop hurting, when you guys were in the First Realm, she was the one who helped me the most, and when she left, I went you you guys, but I was met with anger and frustration.” He explained as Kai stepped forward.

“I’m so sorry Lloyd. You were just under 17 when it happened, we’re all full grown adults who should’ve been there for you.” He said as Cole nodded.

Jay looked down at his feet, unsure of how to go about it. “I’m sorry too, Lloyd. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have insinuated that you guys didn’t care about Nya, especially not Kai, I shouldn’t have been so closed off.” He turned to Kai. “Nya was my Yang, but above all, she was your sister. I’m sorry for hitting you, Kai. I guess I’m the one with anger issues now, huh?” He said, lightly chuckling.

Lloyd chuckled along with him, and so did Kai and Cole. “It’s okay, Jay. No more stupid outbursts, from either of us.” He said, looking at his team.

“Agreed.”
