The Wandering Companion Droid

Summary:

An android wakes up in a scrapyard. She has no memory of who she is, nor does she remember how she ended up here. So now she is left wandering. But as she wanders, she comes across some people who may have the keys to the answers she is looking for.

Notes:

So I decided to write another Tetote Connect fic. This time, it's a rather character-driven fic that serves as an expansion on the characters beyond what I know from character bios and voice lines. Tetote Connect is shutting down its online services, so we probably won't be getting any more expansion on the Tetote Connect characters. Not that there was much of a chance to begin with, since Tetote Connect's just an arcade rhythm game where all the characters are virtual partners you dance with, but unless Taito decides to surprise us someday, then we'll just have to take this character expansion in our own hands. And I'm going to do just that.

Now most of the tags are stuff that is mostly mentioned, rather than depicted, but there might be depictions of these things as well if I write some moments or flashbacks from a character's perspective.

There are plenty of warnings in the tags, but I'll also give specific warnings for certain chapters as well.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my character-expanding fic

Chapter Text

The android’s eyes opened to a bright blue sky with a few clouds drifting by. She got up and looked around. Every place seemed to be made of metal, some of it looking rusted. She noticed two big cranes, one with a claw, and one with a magnet. There was a conveyor belt and big machines that looked like they could crush any piece of metal flat. Then it hit the android on where she was.

She was in a scrapyard. But why?

The android looked around the scrapyard and came across a big sheet of what looked like aluminum. She noticed that she could see herself in the mirror, and took a good look at herself. She ran her hand through her bright pink and blue hair. Her white sweatshirt, mismatched socks, and bright pink boots looked fine, if a little dirty. The long wire from her back wasn’t tattered, and she looked pretty good when she saw herself in the mirror, front, sides, and back.

Then why was she in the scrapyard then? It didn’t seem like she belonged here.

Maybe the answers weren’t in the scrapyard, but outside of it. The android looked for a way outside of the scrapyard. She saw a fence and, without thinking, ran to the fence to climb it. She got to the top, but then looked down at the height she had to climb down. The android hesitated for a moment, but didn’t even need to decide whether or not to climb down, as she lost her balance and fell face first on the pavement. She got back up and then realized something else.

Who even was she? What was she created for? And what was her name? Did she even have a name?

Maybe if she explored the city a little, something might provide an answer. Her memories may be completely erased, and she may never have them truly restored, but whatever answer she receives would be a new memory just like the ones that were erased, right?

The android looked around at all the places the city had, from cafes, to arcades, to little shops. She noticed a little candy shop and decided to go in and check it out.

The shop had all types of little sweets inside. Colorful candy lined the shelves, and the whole shop smelled very sweet. She saw a little box of pocky, and picked it up, wondering if she would like it, or if she even liked it in the past. “Hey there, do you like what you see?”

The android jumped at the voice, and when she turned around and saw a kind looking man in a red-striped apron standing right there, she tensed up. She quickly placed the box of pocky on the shelf and tried to look up at the man. “I-I do, but I think I, well, I don’t want to buy it r-right now.” The android was trembling a little, and wanted to get out of there as quickly as she could.

“It’s alright, you can come back someday when you do feel like getting something from here.”

“Thank you goodbye!” The android ran out of the store and through the streets. When she calmed down, she walked down the streets as normal. But then people started to say hello to her and start conversation, and all of it made the android nervous. She didn’t respond to them and walked away from everyone quickly. Was she always this nervous around people?

The android kept wandering, looking at everything, looking for something that might provide a clue to the answer to her questions, when she heard someone shout behind her, “Dorothy!”

Notes:

Okay, if the beginning felt a little clunky, I apologize. Beginnings are not my strong suit.

And I'll just tell you right now, I post inconsistently, so I recommend checking on my fic at least once a week. If I haven't uploaded, it probably means I'm still brainstorming and/or writing the next chapter.

Also, I'm perfectly okay with adaptations, translations, or whatnot of my fic, just as long as you give me the proper credit for the original fanfic. In fact, I'd love to see adaptations and translations of my fic because it shows appreciation for the fic, as well as for something that has a very small fanbase with little to no actual fanworks.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter.

Notes for Translation: If you do want to translate my work into another language, like I said, you are more than welcome to do so, but I have rules for when you do translate my work:

#1: CREDIT ME FOR THE ORIGINAL WORK! This one is so blaringly obvious that I don’t even know why I’m even mentioning it.

#2: Tetote Connect is not very well known as is, with a very small American (not saying English speaking for a reason) fandom, and the Japanese fandom being somewhat bigger (though I’m not completely sure by how much). And in other countries, I can safely assume that people don’t know about it at all. This is because Tetote Connect is a game exclusive to the Round1 arcades, which are only in America, Japan, and iirc some parts of China. So when you translate the work, in the beginning notes of the fic explain what the game is, which I have here for reference. You don’t have to copy it and can explain the game your own way though:

- Tetote Connect is an arcade rhythm game where you dance with a life-sized virtual partner.

#3: When it comes to the notes, only translate the canon details (which I marked with two asterisks), warnings, and links to the songs mentioned. And when it comes to canon details, simplify them in the translations, since I could ramble on them a bit.

That’s all I have for translation rules. If you want to translate my work and aren’t sure on something, refer to these notes, and have fun translating!
